Dinamo Zagreb 2-2 Hajduk Split
There was action both on and off the field in Zagreb Sunday afternoon as Hajduk Split came to town for another edition of the Croatian Eternal Derby. With Hajduk only one point behind leaders Dinamo to start the day, the Bili knew they could take top spot in the HNL with a victory against their hated rivals. Jean Kouassi would give Hajduk the quick start they were looking for as he scored just 10 minutes into the match. But Dinamo would take the lead through a 27′ Soudani goal and a Duje Cop 54′ strike. It didn’t look as if Hajduk would have an answer until Anton Maglica showed up to play hero in injury time, scoring the equalizer. The two clubs will meet again on Wednesday in Zagreb for the first leg of the Croatian Cup quarterfinals. Hajduk trail Dinamo by only one point in one of the more competitive HNL seasons in recent years.
During the match, the Bad Blue Boys and Torcida joined forces and sat together in the eastern stands to show their opposition to Zdravko Mamic and his tactics as Dinamo general manager. Before the match, Mamic warranted that all visiting supporters would have to be photo ID’d for future purposes if you are sitting in the firm section. Instead, the two groups came together and sat in the general fan section.
Rijeka 2-2 Slaven
After going undefeated in Europa League play at home, with three draws, Rijeka couldn’t make up ground on the HNL table against Slaven after Dinamo’s 2-2 draw with Hajduk. Slaven’s Marin Matos would open up the scoring in the 31st minute but the HNL’s leading goal scorer, Rijeka’s Leon Benko, would add another two on the day to make it 10 goals for him on the season. Benko would tie the game up in the 40th and once again equalize for Rijeka in the 84th minute, after Slaven’s Nikola Rak gave the visitors the lead midway through the second half. But the effort wasn’t enough as the match would end in a 2-2 draw.
Rnk Split 3-0 Lokomotiva
Rnk Split proved that they would be no HNL pushover this season as they defeated a tough Lokomotiva side 3-0 on Saturday in Split. Ante Erceg opened up the scoring in the 29th minute with Tomislav Glumac adding some insurance two minutes after the break. Former Croatian international B-player Mate Bilic scored in the 88th minute to cap off a 3-0 victory and send Split to 30 points through 18 games. Lokomotiva remain on 29 points.
Zadar 0-4 Istra
Istra made quick work of Zadar Saturday night at Stadion Stanovi as Zadar’s Josip Bilaver was sent off in the 28th minute with Istra taking advantage of man advantage immediately. Sandy Krizman would make it 2-0 for Istra in the first minute of the second half with Zadar’s Ante Saric scoring an own goal in the 59th minute of play. Ante Batarelo would put the icing on the cake for the visiting side in the 79′ to cap of the 4-0 victory. Both clubs remain in the middle of the HNL table safe from relegation for the time being.
Osijek 1-1 Dragovoljac
The bottom two HNL teams faced off on Friday as Hrvatski Dragovoljac travelled east to take on Osijek. With Dragovoljac needing a victory in order to pull themselves out of last place, an offensive attack looked to be on the horizon. After a scoreless first half, Dragovoljac would strike first as Ilija Sivonjić would find the back of the net in the 58th minute to give the visitors the lead. However, Osijek would not be denied a point on their home ground as Mile Skorić would find an equalizer in the 78th minute. The match would end 1-1 with Dragovoljac remaining in last place with nine points while Osijek move to 11.
^^ I heard there was 15k. And there was plenty of violence after the game against the police. I’m sure you’ll get your fill sometime in hte next two matches this month.
I prefer my dinamo – mali i jadan hajduk matches with fan violence. 😉
Remember, there were still less than 10K in the stadium for the game.
I was so impressed how the BBB and Torcida teamed up like that at the game. That was amazing to see. Just a shame Dinamo couldn’t hold on to a lead in the last minute, but the match was definitely overshadowed by the unity of the fans. Very cool.
I heard this was a bit of a problem between the two groups and police after the match outside of the stadium. Both supporter groups still stuck together though. I wonder if they’ll keep it up for the two cup matches they play this month against each other.

Thank you Colin for the link.
Hmm, actually, looks like you were right from the begining. It was SoccerWay that had it wrong. Dinamo-Hajduk are playing right now. My bad.

Are you sure the Dinamo-Hajduk game is at 9 tomorrow? I think the Rijeka game is at 9, and the Dinamo-Hajduk game is on at 1.
