Croatian teams did well this week in European play, going 3 for 4 in the first leg of the Champions League/Europa League third qualifying rounds.
On Wednesday, Dinamo Zagreb travelled to Denmark to take on Danish champions Aab. After a scoreless first half, Marcelo Brozović broke the deadlock in the 49th minute when he wound up a shot from 18 yards out to beat the keeper just inside the ride post. It would be the lone goal of the game as Dinamo now head back to Zagreb with an all important away goal; only needing a draw on Wednesday to progress to the Playoff Round. Should Dinamo get by Aab, they are confirmed 6 European group stage matches, either in Champions or Europa League.
To no one’s surprise, Rijeka dismantled Faroe Islands club Vikingur 5-1 on the road Thursday in Europa League play. Two goals from Zoran Kvržić and a late penalty from Andrej Kramarić would help Rijeka seal the win, where they will have a near walk through game at home in the second leg next Thursday. Rijeka shocked Stuttgart in the Europa League playoff round last year. Can they do it again in 2014? The draw is set for Friday, August 8th.
It was a tale of two sides for the teams from Split. Hajduk lost 4-2 on the road to Shakhter Karagandy while Rnk Split shocked Ukrainian club Chornomorets Odesa 2-0 at Park Mladeži. After conceding a late injury time goal, Hajduk will now have to win by two goals next Thursday in Split to give them any chance of progressing to the next qualifying round. On the other side of town, Rnk take off to Ukraine where an away goal may very well put their name in the hat to play a European monster in the next round. Clubs such as Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Villareal could be potential opponents for any Croatian team progressing to the playoff round.
HNL clubs went 3 for 4. But how many will get the job done in the second leg and get through to the final qualifying round?
Anyone know if u can download an HNL patch for FIFA 14 iPhone?
Dinamo got a major victory! No, I don’t mean their 5-0 win over Zadar. But rather the signing of Barcelona’s top youth prospect, 16 year-old Dani Olmo.
He is the youth team’s top scorer and captain. Dinamo representatives were able to convince the lad to sign a 3 year contract. It was the opportunity to work with highly regarded Romeo Jozak and others that proved to be a major selling point. Signing a star out of La Maisa is a major coup, and testament to the club’s success at youth development.
Dynamo Moskou-Rostov (with Pletkikosa) 7-3
Seven goals against Pletikosa. Some things need no comment.
Love the line from Gerrard that he has no tattoos. Good.
@ jab
That horse needs run!
Happy that he is in Germany.
But 2nd division ?
Jebi ga.
He will play full 90 minutes for club and get some meaningful minutes with the national team.
His talent warrants full support from the repka.
Like to see him go bananas at RB Liepzig and build up his scoring confidence.
Fiorentuna sono finocchi GIANTI . Dezgraziato. Lui è un prima classe !
Kovač made this move to ensure that Rebic gets a real run out this season.
Cleveland turning into a big sports city with LeBron James returning to the Cavs and Johnny Manziel playing for the Browns.
11.45 BST DOUBLE DEAL! Fiorentina have confirmed on their official website that two players have joined 2. Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.
Centre-back Marvin Compper, 29, returns to his native Germany for a fee believed to be in the region of 500,000 euros while highly-rated Croatia international Ante Rebic joins on loan after expressing his desire to play regular first-team football.
@ faux
He was solid.
Halilovic was dynamic.
His left foot can start for us on the right wing RIGHT NOW!
His pace with the ball is quite extraordinary. You can see his short time at Barca has already given him more field sense of when to pass and when to shoot.
Kovačić has even more speed with the ball at his feet.
We may need a whole new tactical alignment with these young studs to bring out our collective potential.
Malta :
_Kovačić _____ Mandžukić ______ Halilovic
_________Modric ______Rakitic
______________Jedvaj
Strinic – Lovren – Vida – Vrsajlko
______________Subasic
Subs – Mocinic , Pasalic, Perica
Time to start bringing in young athletic ballers into the fold.
Uvijek vjerni
Rakitic played in friendly today.
Supposedly performed well.
I thought Halilovic would have perform like this >>

yet he was too Nice for recently match and still not special !!
i wonder why .. but maybe as the secret weapon. . he has forbidden by his club to shows up!!
Zadar gettin’ Čoped up by Dinamo!
Wow. Just watched that video.
That was pathetic.
The look on Gerrard’s face when seeing these three grown middle-aged men all giddy with tattoos of his signature on their arms said it all.
He just had a stoic look on his face while talking about it. Very cringe worthy.
Would Gerrard’s version of “jock sniffing” be the fact that he’s advertising Beats Audio by Dre?
Jock sniffers never fail to amaze.
LOL I know the guy on the left.
Frequent poster on Toronto FC’s supporters group “Red Patch Boys”.
Jock sniffing?

Most Croatians have visa problems getting into US- but Haitians can come right in. I’m very upset with the lack of a Visa entrance program- I know the American diaspora politics groups are working on it.
3 out of 4 is strong- Torcida letting the country down-
Ooh, and Brozovic’s goal was quite nice 😀
Lovren with some Visa problems.
