Hajduk Split was able to increase its lead at the top of the table yesterday with a 3-1 win over Inter Zaprešić. The win came on the heels of a Dinamo Zagreb blunder at Varaždin earlier in the weekend.
Split welcomed Inter to Poljud leading the league while Inter was looking for its second win the season.
Zaprešić fought off several scoring attempts by the home side, but succumbed to the pressure late in the first half when Mijo Caktaš slotted in a penalty to tally Hajduk’s first goal.
The second goal came immediately after the start of the second half from Stanko Jurić received an errant pass from the Inter defender right in front of goal and easily finished it to make it 2-0.
Inter brought the match within one three minutes later when Serder Serderov scored his fourth goal of the season but Brazilian Jairo scored the third goal for Hajduk in the 86th minute to seal the win for the Bili.
Dinamo Zagreb is coming off the historic Champions League win of Seri A side, Atalanta, but must have left their motivation and will to win at Maksimir.
Skipper Nenad Bjelica obviously rested many of his key starters, but this match should have been a testament to the depth of his squad. Instead, they were shut out by Prva Liga newcomers, NK Varaždin, who fought hard for their first victory in the season.
After a scoreless first half, Varaždin found the lead via a goal from 22-year-old Cameroon-native Jessie Guera Djou. The match was his second appearance of the season and first goal of the season.
The Dinamo coach had some strong words for his players after the match. Bjelica expressed that he was disappointing with his players, stating some of them believe they should play in every match, domestic and European. He stated players that were previously happy playing in the league are now not happy to do so. Bjelica also said those players will no longer be in his lineups and playing time will be based on merit.
NK Osijek has also faced their share of struggles. After a disappointing draw at home to Varaždin last week, Osijek coach Dino Skender was put on the hot seat. His attempt at keeping his job was far from satisfactory this week as Osijek dropped all three points to Lokomotiva.
The match ended in a 2-1 loss for Osjiek, which also marked the departure of Skender. No replacement has been announced.
HNK Rijeka took care of business in Pula on Sunday with a 3-0 victory. Goals were scored by Franko Andrijašević, Filip Lončar and Robert Murić. The win propped Rijeka up to third place.

Ha! Nicely said.
Ya give him time to adjust
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and call him a bust! Sorry I mean playing like a bust;)
Ha, the downward Rebic bandwagon again?
Ac Milan has sucked without him starting, 6 pts in 5 matches.
Rebic will light a fire under the team’s ass when he starts.
His skillset is best used as a starter, to dominate repossession and create opportunities.
Definitely start Brekalo ahead of Rebic.
The thing is, Rebic is not even a starter at AC Milan right now.
And what are they planning to do with him, did they bring him on as an expensive understudy? Or do they plan on eventually phasing him in as a starter?
Too bad in the 12 min he played today he didn’t do much. Maybe he shoulda stayed in Frankfurt….
2-1 loss to Torino-they haven’t beaten Torino at home since 2012 – still a weak team in a weak serie A
Rebic on for about 12 mins – didn’t do much ..lost the ball a few times poorly – Boban seen in the stands putting his head down after rebic getting stripped deep in injury time
No argument with me on Vlasic, I think we need to find away to get him in the lineup.
Line up for next round
. Petkovic
Brekalo vlasic. Perisic
. Modric brozovic
Barisic vida lovren whoever
. Livkovic
Bottom line….i believe rebic should have lost his starting spot… No reason for this guy to remain perma locked here
I’d also argue vlasic over rakitic… And strong argument for kovacic over rakitic as well
1
Petkovic/Rebic
Perisic Modric Rakitic Brekalo
Brozovic
Melnjak Vida Lovren Jedvaj
Livakovic
Dinamo Youth beats Villareal in that Premier League Youth Championship 2-1. Goals from Kulenović and Marin.
Zidane mistook Modrić for Rakitić
Zidane the Cigan
Modric bleeds red with huge square whites cells for defense.
Modric isn’t going to miss these two very important games. And won’t want to miss a chance to play in what will be an electric atmosphere in poljud
Apparently zidane requested Modric to not play for cro in these qualifiers
I know they pay his bills but kill that noise
Luka got to play
Croatian league team soccer is looking like nations league soccer teams every day. 3.98 million and counting down to 2.2 million. Will croatia ever be a place people want to stay, and not leave their motherland.

I guess it goes Nations League… Euro qualifying… Nations League… World Cup qualifying.
It’s a four year cycle, and each event happens within the year it begins.

Interesting
Prob would have been better in group b for qualifying
Assuming this is being used for World Cup qualifying as well?
Perisic and Kovac making the nay sayers eat their words
Long way to go but we all suspected Perisic just needed a change of scenery
Maybe they will want to bring more Croats back to Bayern now
Hajduk hasn’t got a hope
Bjelica has been rotating his whole squad giving lots of minutes to all his players. He will cut back now and rotate more sensibly, dinamo will start to win big in HNL
Stole this from xtra time

Don’t matter the sport
You bring proper coaches and funds to cro
We can put a team In almost anything within 10-20 years and be competitive
Maminjo
If only they would do such a thing
The resources and talent is there to pull it together…
Saw Kramaric left off the squad
Guess his injury is bad
Could have used him at some point in next couple games
He was the dagger when we needed him last qualifying against Ukraine
I hope I’m wrong but I’m sure that Hajduk will slip up more than once for the rest of the season
Not enough depth for me to match Dinamo in particular with their current squad although miracles can happen
@Dannyj
I’m actually suggesting that our HNL teams work together, in an attempt to ensure they all beat any foreign teams.
For example, Dinamo sold Kramarić to Rijeka despite Rijeka being a direct rival to the HNL title. Dinamo also loans out players to Osijek as well.
When Rijeka and Osijek succeed in Euro competition, Dinamo benefits as well (as all teams in the league get some money when their compatriots qualify, and also if they negotiated a cut on any future player transfers they sold to these teams).
Winning the HNL is just bragging rights, but these teams can help each other get better and secure multiple CL and Europa slots (and make themselves richer, along with Croatian football).
Luka Modrić 5 straight world XI ‘s !!
Age 29 – 34 !!
I wonder how well he would of done if he wasn’t a bust? ..
.. Oh wait.
This dude is a different level of professional.
And Real Madrid still need him.
All these kids need not look to anyone else for a stereotype lift.
I agree Maminjo they have to compete with each other to make themselves strong
Win more money in Europe and just strengthens the league
So they don’t have to unload decent kids to pay their visa bills!
Well let’s hope someone comes along and shakes things up
It was great to see Rijeka win the title a couple years back, but it’s terrible to see them bounced so quickly in Champions League qualifying right after they won that HNL title.
I want a league with parity (and it’s slowly happening with Rijeka, Hajduk and Osijek getting better) but I want to see our teams succeed in Champions League and Europa.
Dinamo has been excellent since last year, and Rijeka did decent in a couple of their tournaments. Osijek and Hajduk are not there yet, but they’re on the right path.
The fact that Dinamo DIDN’T take the easy money by selling Dani Olmo once they qualified for Champions League speaks volumes. I want to see the team that is most committed to winning in Europe, as the team who wins the HNL. Right now, that is Dinamo… But we could have up to four teams in European league in the near future (and not embarrassing themselves).
Having two Champions League qualifying spots every season is what our HNL teams need to work together on.
There’s no money in actually winning the HNL… But there is huge money in having four teams in your 10-team league getting millions of Euros in prize money every season from CL and Europa.
Dannyj, the majority of Hajduk fans are like anyone else…they love their team and want the best for them. There’s a fairly large group of their fans that demand the players answer to them for a bad performance or that they have a meeting to explain the result, something no team should ever have to do! Those aren’t fans bro, they are mentally challenged retards! Them along with several of the uprava at the club, over the past 10-15 years are whats ruining the club!
Hajduk was one of the best clubs to cheer for and to follow. they usually had a very competitive team, they always had a good environment at their games, they had celebrity singers who would perform for their crowds, they had super cool uniforms and track suits…and one of the longest standing fan bases in Europe!
Hoping that hajduks early season success allows for a less grumpy fan base at Poljud as they won’t blame Mamic and the hns for all their troubles
Couldn’t agree more
We need Hajduk Rijeka and I guess Osijek or whoever else to all be decently strong to make the league a better brand and a better place for our kids to develop
Please stop selling kids to Italy and having them sink into the abyss
Sell developed young men for a decent dollar
At the beginning of last season I remember many Hajduk fans here saying they’d win it…or at least come close. This year, is a bit more quiet (I suspect people don’t want to jinx their team) but these recent reports make me speculate Kvartuc and his Hajduk buddies are setting the parade route!
From a soccer perspective, I think the best thing that can happen is for Hajduk or Osijek or some other team win the league. We need rivalries that mean something to the game, not rivalries that are about Torcida vs BBB. I’d like to see the games become more interesting and meaningful so that eventually these clubs that sell -off their players, don’t sell them so they can make pay-roll for the year but moreso as a business decision.
I’d also like to see Hajduk get back to their old self. Establish their identity as a soccer organization thats run by a credible and functional group of responsible people. Take the fear the players have of their ridiculous and demanding fanboy group and put their focus on future goals and achievements. I cannot tolerate nor do I ever want to see so-called dysfunctional, anti-Croatian retards make demands to the players of the club…EVER AGAIN! Also, the jealous and anti-Croatian people at Hajduk that were responsible for NOT congratulating the Savez at last years world cup should be fired! whoever was in charge of their twitter account needs a boot in the ass…sramota! “sve izgubili dabogda” should be banned, not welcomed in Dalmacija!
Whatever happens, we all need Hajduk to function again, I just hope they clean house and make good personnel changes!
