Well, that didn’t go according to plan.
Dinamo wasn’t expected to win by any means tonight in Munich, but man, that is not going to be a great flight heading back to Zagreb. You just can’t concede NINE TIMES in a Champions League match…you just can’t. Bayern absolutely owned the 1st half with chances, possession, and goals (3). They even had one goal disallowed due to offside (VAR).
But Dinamo did own five minutes of the match coming out of halftime when Petković and Ogiwara would cut the Bayern lead down to only one, after each scoring in the 49′ and 50′ to make it 3-2. However, Bayern would rattle off six unanswered goals to cap off a 9-2 victory. Harry Kane scored four goals. Oh well, onto the next match. Dinamo next hosts Monaco at Maksimir on October 2nd.
The new Champions League format kicks off Tuesday night. 8 matches. No groups. One league table. Top 24/36 clubs make it to the next stage.
Dinamo Zagreb — the only Croatian club left in Europe this year — will have their hands full as they travel to Germany to take on might Bayern Munich. Is Dinamo expected to get a result against arguably the best Bundesliga club this season? Absolutely not. However, Dinamo have had their fair share of epic ‘under dog” wins in Europe this century. Looking at you Chelsea and Tottenham!
Outside of the result, I’m looking so see how Baturina starts dealing with big game pressure. The 21 year-old is slated to be a HNL MVP candidate this season. He’s coming off his first international weekend — where he received the start vs. Portugal in Nations League. He didn’t have the best game and Dinamo is coming off a 1-0 loss to Hajduk. I’m interested to not only see how Dinamo rebounds from a HNL loss; bit how the young Baturina does as well.
Juric new Roma coach:
https://romapress.net/official-roma-appoint-ivan-juric-as-new-head-coach/
Roma is a dumpster fire.
But I guess that is good news in two years if we want to replace Dalić with him, since Roma will probably go through several coaches.
He’s an efficient but defensive coach though. Might drive some of us crazy, but that might be a symptom if not ever having great players at Torino.
This would be a good test at Roma since they do have some talent.
On Saturday I was fortunate enough to go watch Dinamo vs Hajduk. It was my first time in Maksimir. I’ve always known it was shitty Stadium, but damn lol It’s worse than pathetic. Words cannot describe how bad it is in there. Don’t get me wrong, I love Maksimir, but it’s a shithole.
On Saturday it was probably quiet and empty, too. Lol.
Well you only have one more year to enjoy Maksimir.
They’ve broken ground and started building the new stadium at Kranjčevićeva.
It should be done by the end of 2025, and Dinamo will be playing there in 2026.
Shithole is an under statement. Are the washrooms still the port a potties? And is the only food option hot chestnuts?
Hey! Nothing wrong with roasted chestnuts.

Some thoughts from Anonymous
1) Dalic egg on face saying Dinamo is only team in HNL to choose from, lol
2) Petar Sucic thank god he missed the match – would have been terrible for his re-sale value, etc
3) Baturina – as Anonymous has mentioned a few times now – first during the Euros – that he has ZERO defensive awareness / responsibility – look at highlights for the 4th goal – the game is still 3-2 at this point – the pass comes to Kimmich – Baturina sees the pass to him as it’s right in front of him and does nothing – this is completely unacceptable. Just strolling around. Would also note the goal from Hajduk last weekend started bc Baturina didn’t cut off the pass to Sigur (again just strolling around) and than went too far and by the time he stopped Sigur did a half turn and lobbed the nice pass in – which led to the goal. I don’t know who he thinks he is – but unless he’s scoring a hat trick every game – he needs to also contribute defensively. Also he had nothing to do w/ both of Dinamo’s goals today (beautiful flick by Pjaca on the Petkovic goal)
4) Nevistic – how does Jakirovic leave him in for all 9 goals – I mean really ? The guy’s confidence will be completely shot after this. Has Jakirovic never watched NHL before – after the goalie lets in too many goals – you pull him. A complete joke not to mercy sub him off. He will have nightmares of Kane scoring 3 penalties to his right for the rest of his life
5) Tactics – did Jakirovic not realize they are playing one of the top 3 teams in the whole CL (along w/ Man City and Real Madrid). He should have been playing a 5-4-1 (or the like) with a very low block and limited space b/w the defence (5) and the 4 – so Bayern had less space to make those nice passes in and around the box. Very naive
6) Back 4 – after this – Dinamo should get bench a few of these players and throw in some young Croatians and give them a run out – looking at u Noa Mikic, amongst others
Rog and Baturina are useless. For me baturina is in the same category with coric, halilovic, marin, etc where they can dribble past 33 year olds in the hnl but when they play against the big boys in the top leagues they turn invisible. For example, during the bayern game baturina had; clearances 0, blocked shots 0, interceptions 1, tackles 1. While old and slow Misic had; clearances 2, blocked shots 2, interceptions 2, tackles 3. Even petkovic contributed more defensively than baturina. We also saw in the portugal game baturina was slow on the press and missed easy tackles.
Lucky it was not double digits. Awful defending, lost shape and discipline after going down 4 – 2. First team to concede 9 goals in Champions League and this was Dinamo’s heaviest defeat in Europe since 7 – 1 drubbing by Lyon more then 10 years ago?
Lyon defeat was on 8 December 2011in Zagreb with Leko being red carded in the first half.
“Dinamo’s 2-Goal Comeback Not Enough” lol That’s funny Ante. Breaking balls, appreciate the work managing the site.
I’ve never seen worse defending in a professional match. The strikers and box-to-box midfielders running their socks off only for the defenders to just stand there and let Bayern score. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was match-fixing involved. That was embarrassing. There were some good players on the field for Dinamo, but it was as if they were playing with 6 men. Misić, Kevin TC, Pierre Gabriel, Ristovski and Mmaee were all terrible. Nevistić made a number of good saves, but no one was clearing the rebound! And all those penalties!
Pitiful defending. Enough of the imports. Surely Dinamo can find some local talent?
For six years they’ve been trotting out Kévin Théophile-Catherine.
I have no idea why.
He’s a catastrophe.
Modric assist late via corner kick, 2-1 Real.
Kudos to those here who have managed to stick with the Dinamo game.
Is no one marking Kane???
Update: Even the disallowed goal by VAR didn’t matter. No opposition is being marked.
Dinamo deference just standing around watching some of these goals.
Dinamo needs better CBs
Anything less than 4-0 is a moral victory
Dinamo U19 lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich U19 this morning. Of interest, looked like Bayern might have had 2 Croatian players in the lineup. Not 100 % sure about that….but it seems like there were maybe 12 or more Croatians on the pitch to start the game, and perhaps only around half that number of Germans, and then a smattering of international players filling out the rest. That math would seem to bode well for the future…did any of our top soccer minds on this listserv watch the match? And can they offer any comments on who they see as having potential to (maybe) play for Croatian in the future?
Bayern’s centerback duo of Croatians are ones to watch, especially Puljic
Bayern U19 actually had THREE Croats starting on their team.
Their goalkeeper (Leon Klanac) is a German diaspora Croat with dual citizenship.
The two CBs (Puljić, Mijatović) are Croats.
Good sign that the majority of players on the field were Croatian.
With Bayern’s injury problems at right back, I see any success that Dinamo may have with their left wingers. Kimmich is rumoured to be right back and both Pjaca and Hoxha can trouble him. Assuming that Bayern allow Dinamo to touch the ball.
Also, any suggestions for streams to watch the game for us poor seljaci?
Get IPTV and the game should be on MaxTV or ArenaSport
You gotta get IPTV. Watch any game from any sport. It is the best thing and usually only costs abut $10-$15/month
Yup, IPTV is the way. We keep getting posts, especially before Croatia games, on where to stream in the US or Canada. Just get an IPTV ffs. No hassle, cheap, and we watch any game you want.
do you recommend any particular iptv service?
Just find somebody in your area that can get you one and hook you up. Somebody you know must have it. Just ask them about it.
info@ktvservices.net – Matthew Krasic
Give this a shout. He’s in Canada but Im pretty sure he services USA too. Its 300$ a year. All Cro channels and thousands more.
People would rather pay their Cable TV providers money to NOT give them the channels they want.
