Honestly, I was expecting Zu to give me the classic cookie cutter answer of, “both the Clippers and the Vatreni will be crowned champions this summer.” But no, he went with the Clippers when asked, which team will go farther?
I just wanted to give Zubac a fun little question amongst the Clipper beat writers, but then I got thinking, this is a coin-flip of an answer. On one hand, the Clippers have already started in the Round of 16 by making the NBA playoffs. Croatia will surely get out of group stage to make the final 16. However, could the Clippers get dumped in the first round by the Mavericks; already down 1-0? The Vatreni may have to go through France or Portugal to get to the quarterfinals.
Who gets farther this summer? The Clippers or the Vatreni?
I live in LA and have seen the Clipper Curse in full effect for decades. This is an easy one. Croatia goes deeper than the Clippers.

10 years of Real Modrić.
Still at his peak at 35!!
ZDS
and yet, when you see alot of these Top-50 Real Madrid all-time lists…
Modric rarely cracks the top-30 (yet you will see guys like Bale or Mijatovic ahead of him, lol).
That shit infuriates me so bad. I was reading one last month and they had guys like Marcelo, di Maria, Bale, Mijatovic (way ahead of him). He should be in the top 5 alonside Ramos and Ronaldo without a doubt. Ridiculous.
I’ve seen those lists too. To pick on one of our neighbors here, it’s hilarious that someone like Mijatović is on a alltime list. He was on RM for 3 (?) years and scored a decent amount of goals, won a league title, won a UCL. Nothing to sneeze at, give credit where its due. But Luka could have his own room to hold all his silverware won while at RM. He’s coming up on 10 years of service with the club too. He’s literally in another universe compared to Peđa.
Mijatovic wasn’t even a prolific scorer for RM. Scored like 30 goals for them over three years. He had a key one in the CL finals, so maybe that’s why he shows up on these lists, but he wasn’t anything special like Modric (who was their #10 for four titles in five years). I can’t recall a #10 who did what Modric did for any team (and not just Real Madrid).
This guy is a bigger Judas than Borna Sosa! 😉
But on a serious note, hopefully the Clippers get bounced as soon as possible (as well as the Jazz and Suns).
Croatia has its Olympic qualifier tournament in Split at the end of June.
Gotta make sure that we have Zubac, Bogdanović and Šarić available.
