Going into the Europa League quarterfinals, Joško Gvardiol and RB Leipzig were favorites to take the Europa League crown.
Instead, it was another German club in Eintracht Frankfurt that came from behind in the final to make all five of their penalty shots to bag their first European title since 1980. Jakić came on in the 90′ and played the full 30 minutes of extra time while Borna Barišić got the start for Rangers and played 117 minutes at left-back, having to be subbed out due to injury. Rangers manager Gio van Bronckhorst implied that Barišić would have taken a penalty in the shootout before he was taken off. “Van Bronckhorst was also left to rue Ryan Kent’s late missed chance with just a couple of minutes left of extra time with Kevin Trapp pulling off a point blank stop with Borna Barišić limping off to see him redraw his shoot out list”, reported by Daily Record.
Jakić will gladly pick up his first trophy with Frankfurt as he is currently on loan this season from Dinamo Zagreb. He scored one goal in 26 Bundesliga appearances for Frankfurt this season.
Broz voted best midfielder in Italy
Not enough to have the best midfielder
One of the better ones in the epl when fit
And now top ten midfielders in the world in broz
Majer I feel will be up there soon enough
Sucic is young but have we had anyone in recent memory showing this kind of talent at 19 and producing
Yeah, Niko Kranjčar 😉

Breksi is a good player just i think has issue with being a hit head from what i read always good to be ambitious but little by little find a club and be standard player he doesnt want to stay at torino beacuse he want to play Europe.
Vlasic i havent given up on him since 2018 he has had good games for croatia just needs to find right club and league and play.
Majer is a beast so is sucic im excited.
Only thing worrys me is Dalic congrats 2018 at the euros outcoached and didnt take risks imo and screwed up the bring in new players in terms of eaying them in 11 imo v russia last wcq why start vkasic when majer was a beast for his club and game before v malta. Its thing like that euro 2020 why start petko and rebic when you have hungry budimir and orisic on bench. Why not call sosa when barisic was hurt and he goves gvardiol first cap basically v england and all euro. Start vida lovren who are not chiellini bonucci as much as lovren thinks hes all that. Too many mistakes by dalic imo. 2018 was easy he had a great senior team with not too many rookies in starting 11.
I think he screws up 2022 LN in 3 weeks aswell with his mix match lineups and not trying to find chemistry with the news guys he called up.
Modric id only play him in split vs france no need to waste luka but put in sucic with kova and broz or majer pasalic i really hope he just doesnt put an 11 just for sake of an 11 like dont play pongracic with erlic or erlic sutalo partnership play cc with erlic or gvardiol sutalo partnership same with other positions dont out jakic pasalic vlasic midfield and expect results and play budimir or musa as point man with out perisic sosa to get crosses in.
Id look for a keeper these 4 games a cb partnership see id budimir musa and ve croatias number 9s. Like v france at piljud should be a picture of 2022 opening game. I think will look like
Livakovic id rather ivusic. Juranovic Gvardiol Cc Sosa Modric Broz Kova Majer Budmir Perisic. No 3 5 2 v france please
Pongracic benefits from Kovac at Wolfsburg?…🟢⚪️
On loan at Dortmund 🟡⚫️… who recently signed Schlotterback to CB role..
Brekalo shortly will be yesterday’s news. Just like Rog and Pjaca.
To much younger power coming.
You’re wrong Z breks is a talented hungry guy still young and getting better year by year!
I agree
I think out of that mini generation
Brekalo vlasic I guess petko(as he was integrated at the same time) brekalo will have more impact
Him and orsic for super subs on the wings to shake things up if needed
He is capable of making some offence happen when not much is going on
I hope I am. Let’s hope so and fingers crossed.
Nah.
Pjaca lost his explosiveness after those knee injuries, and Rog is a very untalented player.
Brekalo is far too talented to end up like those two. Unfortunately, his alpha personality does not jive well with hive-minded German teams. He’ll be fine. He’s right to push for a move.
The only thing that (I think) will hold him back, is his weak slender frame.
If he was as tall and as physically strong as Perisic, then he would be exactly the same player as Perisic.
Brekalo will likely become a poor man’s Perisic…but how poor, we’ll have to see. Nothing wrong in having a player like that on our squad.
It’s a bit unfair to say that Pjaca was done in by injury but Rog by lack of talent. In 2016, both of those guys were very talented. Both of them have suffered multiple serious injuries since then. Rog, when healthy, is very good at his position. His problem is that years have passed since he last was healthy, and when he was healthy before that, he was riding the bench at prestigious clubs instead of getting to show his value at smaller ones.
I’m still not clear as to what Rog does that is good.
He’s a central midfielder, which (I would assume) would mean that in order to cut it for the Croatian National Team…he would have to be technically gifted, creative, and an elite passer (irregardless of whether in a CDM or ACM role).
He’s none of those things.
I only hear good things about his workrate, and how he’s a tireless worker.
He largely looks like he’s about to fall every time he touches the ball. Doesn’t seem like he ever had the skillset of a creative passing Croatian midfielder who could dribble out several opposing players (like Modric, Broz, Kovacic, Majer, Sucic, etc) and spring forward an attack.
He’s cut from the same cloth as Ognjen Vukojevic or Jerko Leko. That’s nothing special.
Kristijan Jakic is probably a better version of him, but even Jakic at his peak right now, is barely a callup (and will likely be nothing more).
Never understood this fascination of what Rog could have become. He never had it.
You’re right about that, except that Rog’s forward passing is good. The reasons why he’s good at his position are the following. The DM has to stay back when everyone else goes up. This may seem elementary, but it’s exactly why you can’t play just any midfielder in a defensive role. Rog is good at keeping his position and covering for teammates caught out of position, picking up the loose man, etc. The other major purpose of a DM is winning loose balls, which is where Rog’s work rate and physicality matter. He’s good at keeping the ball out of the opponent’s possession and quickly recovering loose balls and dishing them off to teammates. The repka needs a backup DM, which clearly is Jakić right now, but Jakić is a sloppy player whose main asset is his aggression. Now that he’s healthy again, it’s possible for Rog to make a comeback because while he might not be an elite technical talent, Jakić really isn’t either.
Niko Kovac to Vfl Wolfsburg 🟢⚪️
Maybe Brekalo decides to stay after all …
His current coach at Torino is Ivan Jurić, and that couldn’t persuade him to stay.
Kovač is a worse coach, and Brekalo has already had negative experiences with Wolfsburg.
Plus, he only has one year left on his deal (which he refuses to extend) and Wolfsburg will probably try to get something for him rather than nothing.
I didn’t know brekalo was on loan
Surely Torino will want to buy him
Wolfsburg would be smart to cash in
Brekalo wasn’t an overall good fit there
Well if we had to guess which Croat would win Europa this year no one would have said jakic
He will be serviceable in that defensive mid role say if broz is injured or carded….
And this bit of big game time will certainly help the experience level
Same with barisic
I saw he only got a 5 rating out of 10 online
But I trust what you guys saw watching
Anyways a fine option for us
Sosa and barisic is definitely an upgrade over strinic and Pivaric( huge thanks to those guys tho)
Barisić played a very good game, in my opinion. His defending was solid, and he made good plays when he went forward. Took a good outside shot too. What Rangers were missing was a better game from Tavernier. He had his hands full marking Kostic, and his passing went he went forward was imprecise. Barisić, on the other hand, was quite effective. Jakić accomplished what was needed from him by preventing a second Rangers goal.
I agree, Barisić looked pretty solid, especially on defense. I think he’ll be a reliable option for our backline. I didn’t know that Jakic is “on loan” from Dinamo. Anyone know what his future looks like?
He wasn’t marking kostic…kostic was on the left for frankfurt, barasic was on the left for protestant rangers…they were on the opposite sides of the field. Shameful for Barasic to play for the Catholic hating rangers.
I think Doom was talking about Tavernier:
“Rangers were missing was a better game from Tavernier. He had his hands full marking Kostic…”
Yes
