Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Kidd discusses Dražen Petrović’s New Jersey legacy after the Mavs’ 106-100 win over the Clippers Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Petrović played for the Nets from 1991-1993, before being killed in a tragic German car accident in the summer of ’93. Kidd played seven seasons in New Jersey and is a 10-time NBA All Star. He has also earned NBA First Team honors five times. The man has street cred and his invitation for a summer on the Adriatic is in the mail.
Mom my would make him strudel for being so nice. 🙂
@DJ Dan- I'm very well aware of Vujacic's background. Being born in Slovenia makes it worse 🙂
Giving him Petro's gameworn sneakers maskes as much sense as giving Ante Gotovina's uniform to Radovan Karadzic's grandkids.
@Ante- I'd be interested in seeing it. Before his injuries, he was amazing with the Kings. Even as a Croat, I was watching their playoff games thinking "man, this guy shoots almost like Petro". Even the way he ran through screens.
I could see why some told you not to post it, but I'll bet some of them watched "Once Brothers". At least Stojakovic never messed with our flag 😉
I'd find it interesting to see what Peja thought of the question as well.
By the way, Lakers Mavs brawl was entertaining. Ron Artest would have killed them all. One last thing, I hate Matt Barnes with passion. I wish Mike Beasley would have knocked him out last time, he tried to start with someone. Go home Barnes, you ugly man.
Well then it sounds good. I guess the only things I have on CSR is that I met and talked to Modric, something they didn't pull off!! lol.
@Anonymous
Of course I want to hear what he has to say. Why not? Maybe a question like…
Why do you think Serbian players are more successful in the NBA now?
Always nice to hear different opinions. Give us something to talk about, give us another view on things, and it's more exposure for CSR.
That was awsome! Seems like a cool guy!
@Franjo
Just a word about Sasha Vujacic: he's actually more Slovenian then Serb. His parents were divorced when he was young and he lived in a Slovenian household for most of his life. He also played for the Slovenian national team, if I'm not mistaken (it might have been a junior team)
I appreciate the kind words.
If you really wanted to piss off Dirk, you should have asked him about his choice of women. His ex-fiance is currently in jail or will be going to jail soon.
@ Allen19,
CSR has come a long way, believe it or not. Even to the point that the NBA will give us credentials.
@ JP,
Dirk was having not of it. I asked him on his way to the locker if we can talk a bit about German Football and he replied with a 'Fuuuuuuuck No'. Maybe the loss to Australia rubbed him the wrong way. Who knows? Take a look at the Kidd video. Dirk was suddenly interested in us after I mention the vacation to Croatia. He had an off-media night. We'll give him a mulligan on this one. The LA reporters asked him some stupid stuff on the night.
@ Anonymous,
"Ziva's been everywhere. Knows everyone. Wow, what a cool guy.
But, as the great George Costanza once said, "if you aint got pictures, ya got nothin."
Ziva never said that he's been everywhere or that he knows everyone. You're putting words in his mouth. In my book, he doesn't need pictures. He has experience and you can tell by his words when he comments.
The locker room is an absolute war room after the game. 20 reporters on one guy asking the same, redundant questions. How's the knee feel? How was chemistry different with your point guard tonight?
Ziva knows his stuff guys, end of story. Like I say, "You can't be nice and right at the same time."
Ziva gets bombed on CSR because he is well-spoken and delivers arguments from different angles. He may be a little rough around the edges, but in no way is he arrogant. Strong is how I'd put it.
CSR Nation loves Ziva Istina. Do you know how many times during the week (in person) I am asked who ziva is? He's like a superhero with a secret identity….and I have a feeling he will keep it that way.
@ All…
Thank you all for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the Kidd interview. I'll try to keep them coming.
We spoke to Peja and have it on camera but it's not quite ready for CSR. Just curious…
How many of you are interested in what Peja had to say and how many aren't? I spoke to a few Prva Generacija members already who were against it….what are your reasons?
I'd like to hear what you all have to say…
@Allen19
"Now I have a question, how do you get this access?"
Dont take this the wrong way, "I'd Tell You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You."
sorry, copy and paste didnt work on last comment. 🙂
sorry guys, no Peja, saving that in my private collection.
Nowitzki wasn't having it last night. Ante approached him, he must have thought we were Clippers fans. My Lakers will take good care of him tonight.
I always wanted to see Jason Kidd in a Lakers uniform back in high school. Ten years later, I feel the same way.
Sorry I meant jutarnji.hr which is a popular rag in cro.
GoldenChild wants to hear what serbs have to say?
@ Ante B
It's an early 90s film with Martin Short and Charles Grodin, Short plays a 10 year old obsessed with dinosaurs that puts his uncle through hell for a week…maybe that will refresh your memory? If not check it out, you'll either love it or hate it…either way worth watching.
Needs more Peja.
csr legende ste!
Ante, your interview is one of the top stories on jurarnji.hr
Well done.
@someguy,
I'm not sure but I've been using that term for years now. It could be from that movie since most of my spiel comes from movies.
well done kvartuc
@ Ante B
Did you just make an attempt at a Clifford quote? If so I must correct you..it"s "no no special place"…but still, good job, hilarious film, not sure why critics hated it
Nice job getting Jason to make a comment. He didn't act annoyed at the mention of someone he didn't play with it and actually gave us a nice tidbit that he got to meet his parents.
Planinic was a HUGE dissapointment with the Nets. He wasn't on anybody's radar beforehand, so I don't know why they drafted him. His ballhandling skills were ok, but he was poor at setting teammates up (like a good point guard should) and had no jump shot whatsoever, unusual for a Croat 🙂
A few weeks ago during a Nets telecast, they mentioned that the Nets trainer gave Sasha Vujacic a pair of sneakers that Drazen Petrovic once wore in a game (he probably sold them on Ebay). What an idiot.
Ziva,
They want to see your special no no place…
UHHHHH. I can't stand when Anonymous people want to see your photos posing on the couch in your underwear! Get a NAME any NAME and maybe Ziva shows you something…. http://bit.ly/eVL4tC
@Anonymous…..well, what do you want to see
@ziva
The rocks are beautiful.
@Ante
No Peja!? Disappointing. The forums would have lit up like a Xmas Tree. Good job though. Those interviewing skills are getting better.
@Anon
ooh … right in the mind!
Ziva's been everywhere. Knows everyone. Wow, what a cool guy.
But, as the great George Costanza once said, "if you aint got pictures, ya got nothin."
Awesome interview and I don't think you could have found a better guy between both teams. Sorry, never been a fan of Dirk and Kidd is a huge legend. He gave some great info and I am happy he gives out respect. Now I have a question, how do you get this access?
Nice work getting the Mavs in there boys!
I guess Dirk wasn't too interested in chatting…?
Big game tonight!
good job….those one-on-one interview in a locker room right after a game are tough. I've been there and they are not easy, all depends if a player wants to be cooperative.
Damn, have not heard the name Zoran Planinic in a long, long time….If i recall, he is from Hercegovina, so no beaches for Kidd to enjoy if he visits him….just rocks
