JELAVIĆ SCORES A DOUBLE TO PUT RAPID THROUGH
Croatian international striker Nikica Jelavić scored two beauties Tuesday night to help his Rapid Vienna club down Beroe Stara Zagora 3-0 to reach the Europa League Playoff round. Jelavić looks to be all business this season as he has already requested a transfer to Scottish giants Rangers.
Jelavić seems to have mastered the Austrian Bundesliga and the Europa League in the past year; scoring a critical goal to oust Aston Villa last season. What is the right move for the almost 25 year-old Jelavić? Staying in Austria certainly doesn’t add any more value to his stock.
Thanks to Zach G. for the videos.
hey your blog design is very nice, neat and fresh and with updated content, make people feel peace and I always like browsing your site.

@anonymous,
its ok, we all make mistakes. I agree with you on Bogut, however, what about when he throws on the Australian shirt?
@Zach,
Yes, its difficult calling Bogut Croatian when he throws on the Australian shirt.
He has Croatian roots and he speaks Croatian, but its tough to call him a Croatian when he plays for the Australia team.
@ Denis
Yea that was old news, my bad. Roko was playing for the Milwaukee Bucks last season, but asked to be released from the team this year, he is out of the NBA for now.
Andrew Bogut is still a croat, doesn't matter that he wasn't born there.
@Anonymous,
please sign in..
"Roko Ukic signed a three year deal with the toronto raptors"
Are you serious? Roko is in Turkey. Longshot for him to return to the NBA.
Andrew Bogut is an Australian Born Croat.
FYI, there are a couple of croats in the NBA, Roko Ukic signed a three year deal with the toronto raptors and I'm sure you all already know of Andrew Bogut

Rangers will get smashed in the Champions league. The guys no coming to Rangers. They can't afford him. 3.5m is feeble. You can't buy anyone for that much. Go buy Michael Choppra or Benni McCarthy or someone low level cos Jelavic is outside of Rangers financial capability.
Do you not think Jelavic would like to be playing on front of 50,000 people at every home game instead of 11,000 at Rapid and play in the Champions League?
If he was a success in Scotland he would be able to move to a Premiership club like Wislon, Cuellar, Boumsong, Hutton etc have done before!
a star in Scotland… hmm not sure that amounts to much. Anyway it looks like Jelavic is off to Rangers. They must have offered Rapid a big part of his sell on fee. Otherwise why sell such an asset for 3.5m pounds.
If Jelavic was to move to Rangers he would get the opportunity to play in the group stages of the Champions League (as long as he wasn't cup tied) and have the opportunity to win trophies and become a star in Scotland like Dado Prso!
I agree with you guys that Minnesota is the worse team and franchise in the NBA. Kevin McHale ruined that franchise. All three serbs on that team are barely hanging on in this league, I just thought it was interesting that all 3 are on the same team. Minnesota is the new Clippers, or should I say Serbiapolis.
@Zach G,
World Championships should be interesting.. USA-Croatia opening match.
@Golden Child,
I am well educated on the NBA, however, dont have a clue about European basketball and Croatian prospects. Anyone out there interested in writing a piece on Croatian basketball prospects?
Jelavic is PRIME TIME. His agent needs to get him out of the Australian league so his stock keeps goin up, and for the fact that he needs to play against better talent. As we all now, the better the competitor the better you become (usually). He is no spring chicken, would anyone disagree that he is at his peak age for production?
And I'm going to have to agree with Dennis. As great as the Rangers organization is, I think he's getting better competition and a better shot at something more in terms of exposure if he goes to Germany.
@the basketball news
It must suck for all the Serbian basketball fans to know that three of their guys are playing for the worst team in the league. That is no exaggeration by the way, they are definitely worse than the Nets.
It's sad to see no Croatians in the league, but do we have any star basketball players that can really adjust and play a starting role in the NBA?
I know it's a Soccer website, but maybe we could give an article out on some of our basketball talent.
Dinamo game starts in 15 min! As usual i will be recording it so time for me to say bye bye till tomorrow! Dont want to know the score!
Oh…and why isnt Morales playing ?? again ??
great news Slaven thanks for the update! I'm sure Klasnic's fine form will continue through Euro 2012 now that he will be playing in the EPL where he did well last season
The wolves have the worst gm in the NBA. They traded their best player away for a 2nd round draft pick and then declared Darko the franchise player. Quote from David Kahn: "Darko is like Manna from Heaven". Nuf Said.
On the Croatians in the NBA, Ante Tomic is expected to sign with a team next year when his contract with Real Madrid ends. He was drafted by the Jazz two years ago.
Also, the World Championships start in a few weeks on August 28th. We play the U.S in the group stage.
@ Slaven
GREAT NEWS!
Klasnic signs 2 year deal with Bolton.

nice second goal.
Minnesotoa serbs…..who cares, nobody will see them because nobody pays attention to the Twolves. Not sure why they gave 20 million to Milicic, they were bidding against themselves. Pavlovic will be on the bench.
Hrvati in the NBA…..we have a few guys that can play in the NBA and make a roster as a bench player, but its more lucrative for them to be in Europe.
What a second goal! WOW!
He should go to rangers…atleast for one season.
@Denis
Whats up with that ? No Croatians in the NBA?! Shitty!
Great header from "6 foot 2" Jelavic for the opener as well as an excellent first touch and finish on the second. I wouldn't mind seeing Jelavic transfer to Glasgow, however, I would prefer he suit up for a Bundesliga team.
Off topic, but has anyone noticed that there are 3 Serbians on the Minnesota T-Wolves roster this year and 0 Croatians in the entire NBA for a second straight season?
Thanks for the links Zach
