The Old Firm Derby did not fair well for Nikica Jelavić and Rangers Wednesday night in Glasgow. Rangers held a one-point lead on Celtic going into the last match of 2011. Knowing a win would give control to either team atop the Scottish Premier League table going into the new year, both clubs were prepared for a battle, especially with the windy conditions at Celtic Park.
Jelavić, the leading scorer in Scotland this season, received the start and played the entire 90 minutes for Rangers. The Croatian striker didn’t get many chances on goal throughout the match but did try to pull out all the stops, attempting two bicycle kicks in the second half. Unfortunately, both attempts missed their mark with one sailing over the bar while the other dribbled slowly towards the Celtic keeper. Rangers had a controversial goal disallowed in the first half which appeared to have completely crossed the line before it was cleared away. More goal-line technology discussion will come from it.
Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley finally broke the deadlock with a header in the 52nd minute to give Celtic a 1-0 victory and two-point lead atop the Scottish table going into 2012. Rangers have squandered a nine-point advantage in Scotland this season and now find themselves trailing their bitter rivals. With many rumors swirling that star striker Nikica Jelavić could leave Ibrox in the winter transfer window, which opens in four days, can Rangers afford to lose him if they want to make a title run?
If you are the agent of Nikica Jelavić, do you push for a transfer? And where? Newcastle United have been mentioned multiple times.

Modric not expecting January move

QPR has money to throw around, but do they want to spend 7 bills on Jelavic? I don’t think it will happen, but I’m not sure if the move would do much good for either party in this case.
Dailymail is awful with news. Sky Sports is where its at, only reliable source out of all transfers. I’m not believing in the news at all unless its from sky sports. Where does QPR have 7 million to throw around like that, unless they get money from Adel Tabaart sale then I doubt they put up 7 million. QPR is interesting team with some talent like Shaun Wright Phillips and my boy Joey Barton, but not a good place for Jelavic.
Dailymail is a son of a bitch when it comes to accuracy. I’ve found a lot of people to regard it as more of a tabloid than a credible source. With that being said, QPR is one of the teams that many are looking at to start throwing some cash around this transfer window.
I don’t watch much of QPR because they aren’t heavily televised and their roster isn’t that pretty. Their best forward has 7 goals in 12 games, not too shabby. Their top forward, DJ Campbell, quit in the beginning of the year. So even though he may have sucked, that has to tell you something about playing there. As far as I can see, they only play one forward.
So with all that, if he is offered the move do you think it would be smart for him to go?
a confirmed 7 million bid for nikica?

Olic and Pranjic both staying put is no surprise. Makes no sense for Bayern to get rid of them. They are in the CL and top of the Bundesliga race; they will need depth.
According to SN, Olic staying put at Bayern during the transfer period
Mihovil…awesome story. Checking this out tomorrow on my day off, hvala bogu.
In regards to Jelavic, I still hold hope. I’m giving him two more games.

Olic, Mandzukic, Eduardo, Klasnic, Jelavic/Kalinic
thats that, to me there are no other options unless Petric hits form. Unfortunately, we will have to take one of Kalinic or Jelavic at the moment, I don’t rate either of the two but if I had to choose it would be Jelavic

Jelavic isn’t having a good season. Last season, he was much better. Not sure if it’s motivation or not, or if a move to the EPL will be better for him in January.
Our striker situation is a tough call as well have 6 or 7 guys who I would consider in the same pool right now in Jelavic, Mandzo, Olic, Dudu, Klasnic, Kalinic, and to a lesser extent, Petric. It’s tough to call who will be the most successful pairing out of that group of strikers for the upcoming Euros.
I was really hoping for Ante Vukusic to have a breakout season this year in HNL and be a late addition to the Euro2012 squad, but those injuries have set him back quite a bit. His goal rate is still pretty good though, but we’ll have to wait and see next year I guess (unless he’s transferred in Jan and blows up there).
I’m fed up of hearing about Jelavic. He said the title race was over at the start of November and now Celtic have overtaken them, he scores plenty of penalties and headers from corners, I tried to get behind him but I think we have to forget about him as a first choice striker in the Euros. I’d rather play Eduardo, Mandzukic, Olic and Petric ahead of Jelavic. Having said that I still don’t see where the goals are going to come from, biggest problem for me personally over the past 4 years, no consistent goal scoring threat.
