Dr. Ivo Karlović won a marathon match Thursday at Wimbledon when he defeated Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov 13-11 in the fifth set. The match took 3 hours and 23 minutes to complete. #23 Karlović will now face #13 ranked Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Saturday in the 3rd Round with the winner more than likely to face Andy Murray. After losing the first set 5-7, Karlović took control of the next two sets before losing the fourth in a tiebreaker.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
After a five-set nail biter against Berankis in the 2nd Round, Marin Čilić will face #17 ranked American John Isner Friday at Wimbledon. Čilić is a slight favorite over Isner but is set up to cruise into the quarterfinals with Kei Nishikori withdrawing from Wimbledon due to injury. If Čilić can get by Isner and the winner of a weak Giraldo/Kudla match, he would most likely face #1 Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. We will see how much the five-set 2nd Round match took out of Čilić. Isner is yet to drop a set.
How much was RHCP Red Hot Chilli Peppers aka Cilic paying to win the US Open last year around 50-1 or 100-1 was it?
when u asked before, ziva, how far will cilic go this year i was going to say, like every year, he’ll go till he meets novak and then lose like per always, looks like that’ll prolly happen again this year
if he is to have a chance hopefully he beats the noname in straight sets.. cos his last two matches were 5 so he’ll be too exhausted for novak if he has another tough one
I took up Ziva’s bet at 45-1. $100, no sweat.
Not much, but when he goes up against the elite he has to be almost perfect because he rarely gets any games on other serves.
i can’t imagine karlovic loses much of his serve games
Karlovic is always a tough player to go up against. All depends if he can win the tiebreakers, because tough to expect him to take any points from the others serve.
Karlovic advanced looking good for Hrvati in Wimbeldon so far.
Isner gave Cilic the free be with the double fault for the Cilic win. Cilic should at the very least advance through his next match against an unranked player then he will get Djokovic and hopefully he can finally beat him.
He is NOT going to beat Djokovic. It’s just not happening
Iggy
Croatia’s U19 team made it to the semifinals and are playing Turkey.
Doing well without future superstar Dragan Bender, as well as a couple other key players.
Cilic blew it in the last set before match was suspended due to darkness when he was up 3-0 and serving.
Cilic is a t 45-1 odds right now. He plays Djokovic in the next round, assuming he wins today. While I don’t think he can beat the half Hrvat, its worth putting the money down on him. If he were to beat Djokovic, he should be able to get to the finals. $100 down on 45-1 odds is not bad.
