It appears that Croatia’s biggest transfer piece of the winter window, Andrej Kramarić, will get snubbed by Chelsea and picked up by Leicester City instead. The current HNL scoring leader is set to break the bank for Rijeka in there biggest transfer to date as the Premiership carousel keeps spinning.
Originally it looked as if Kramarić would be heading to English leaders Chelsea. But now, Leicester City is the new front runner. Kramarić was in London this week and spoke to both clubs but the deal with Chelsea fell through because they would have loaned him out immediately, Daily Mail reported. He would have playing time locked in at Leicester, who currently sit last in England, four points deep in the relegation zone. Leicester were just promoted to the English top flight after taking first place in the Championship division last season.
Looks like this is signed, sealed and delivered now.
He just re-signed with Rijeka a few weeks ago. I assume it’s as a courtesy so he doesn’t leave on a free transfer because otherwise, his contract was up this month and he would have walked away leaving Rijeka with nothing. Is that how this works? Was there a clause like that in his contract in the first place?? Mamic has to make money on this somehow I guess.
So Leicester upped the stakes, eh? Hear they’re giving 12-14 mil rather than the original 10 mil Rijeka asked for.
It seems fishy, from my perspective. But like ziva said, who knows..
Apparently there is confusion over when Kramarić’s current contract expires. His camp says it’s in the summer, Rijeka says it’s in 2016.
I think both parties want a transfer to occur in the current window to avoid any ruckus that might come next summer.
maybe he or someone in the family has debts to pay and now is the time to pay it.
Maybe he doesn’t want to spend another minute playing in a shit league and wants out.
Who knows.

Thank you for clarifying, and I agree that the Leicaster deal better suites him in this scenario. However, why the urge to take either of those deals right now? Couldn’t he wait until the end of the season? Did his contract expire with Rijeka? Not sure what I missed.
Andrej Kramaric will be a EPL bust like Bosko Balaban and Nikola Kalinic if he goes there.
The Chelsea deal paid him a lower salary as a loaned out player than as a Chelsea bench warmer. He didn’t mind being loaned out this year, but wanted a guarantee that he wouldn’t be loaned out next year as well. It impacts his annual salary.
Leicester, on the other hand, upped the salary on his deal and it’s guaranteed to remain the same whether they remain in EPL or whether they are relegated to the Championship. Plus, they threw in a clause which would allow Kramarić to leave if they get relegated.
From a financial standpoint, the Leicester deal is a lot better than what Chelsea is offering.
I’m a little surprised that he agreed to Lecister, not surprised he didn’t take the Chelsea deal though. Perhaps playing out the rest of the HNL season and waiting to have bigger teams fight for him would’ve been the wiser choice. You know there would’ve been more interests at season’s end.
Worst case scenario right now for Andrej is if he goes to Chelsea and is not immediately loaned out. That would definitely take him into Radosevic territory.
Apparently, Kramarić has a clause in the contract that would force a transfer if Leicester are relegated. Not sure how that works.
Hopefully it works out for him in the EPL and Leicester make him the focus of their offence (whatever that game plan may be).
Most important for him is to have time to play; I don’t want to see another “Radosevic-like”.
Whether they get relegated or not, the Championship is still a few notches better than the HNL.
i thought rangers were upgraded this year?
anyways lets hope he can do something there and save the team from relegation as would be shitty if he got demoted
good luck to him
