Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti today replied to an invitation from sister city Split, Croatia and mayor Ivo Baldasar to attend this year’s Sv. Duje celebration on the Dalmatian coast. Although the City of Angels mayor is unable to make it to Croatia, he signs off the letter with “Hajduk Živi Vječno” at the bottom.
Obviously Mayor Garcetti understands the importance of Hajduk to the city of Split, but does this mean Hajduk is any closer to coming to North America and playing in Los Angeles any time soon?
@Armada87
I wonder if anyone broke the bad news to Ozujsko Pivo that Mandzukic won’t be in the opener….would make more sense to have Olic or Eduardo scoring.
As far as Hajduk coming to the states….if they were to come to NJ and play the Red Bulls (would never happen) there would be less than 1,000 Croats that would show.
First, the NJ/NY City Croats are extremely cheap and wouldn’t shell out the money. Second, it wouldn’t interest Hadjuk “fans” to come out since the level of play in their league is so mediocre.
Love it, this is going in my blog, along with that other brazilio who plays for dinamo, same situation almost. pffff, those brazilio people. http://www.croatiantimes.com/news/Sports/2014-05-08/35461/Brazilian-Croatian_football_war_over_a_girl
Finally a Mayor that Knows what’s going on ! Bog , Hrvati , USA , Split , Hajduk , Sveti Duje , Los Angeles , i HNS !!!
I’m hoping its Loko just so we can see 500 people at their Europa Cup qualifiers.
@Ante B……..yep. these fuckers celebrate anything to not have to work.
also
in which should probably be the most entertaining games of the year, Rijeka v. Dinamo for the kup, first leg at Maksimir on Wednesday
in Prva HNL news…
can’t believe that last spot in Europe is probably gonna go to either RNK or Loko. Shame teams like Istra, Osijek and Zadar couldn’t make better runs. Would of rather of seen any of those 3 go to Europe that Loko or RNK.
How about this for a brazil lineup?

Here’s what I don’t understand behind the HZV misnomer. Today in Jutarnji (I know but even a broken clock is right twice a day) they said they are celebrating Hajduk’s 70th anniversary of being obnovljen. How can a team that claims to have a 103 year history celebrate a 70th anniversary. In order to be obnovljen, you have to cease first. No? It’s almost as bad as Dinamo’s math. Are we chalking this up to yet another irony in Croatian soccer?
@ Armada
Was absolutely looking to see if that kit was sale. I don’t think so. I did find the National team kit for sale from a shop in Zagreb that had a website, but didn’t make the splurge.
Too many in the closet but maybe for next season I’ll be due for another…
Hey Croatia is in the news.

Not related but didn’t know how else to send over – this is not a small thing at all and best of luck to Kiserlovski.
anyone see this commercial yet?

no way Mandzukic scores a goal like that in Brazil haha
Also, unless a company or an individual wants to lose money, i just don’t see how they come to LA for preseason training.
Who would they play that would attract a crowd to watch them. A game against the Galaxy wouldn’t even draw 5,000.
damn, i thought for sure he would have refered to them as jadan i mali hajduk.
