It’s little too late for the Croatian national team as they have already returned home after failing to make it out of group stage at the 2014 World Cup. But as fans around the world try to figure out what happened to their lamented Vatreni, one thing clearly stands out. And Croatians weren’t the only ones to see it.
ESPNFC.com voted Dejan Lovren’s penalty call against Fred in the World Cup opener versus Brazil “the worst call” of the entire group stage. It not only changed the dynamic of the 1-1 game; but quite possibly Croatia’s entire fate for the rest of the tournament.
What if Croatia would have held on to a 1-1 draw?
Better yet, what if Croatia would have scored another goal to win 2-1 and shock the world, beating Brazil?
Although ESPNFC.com gave Croatia the ‘morale’ benefit of the doubt with the worst call of the group stage, they completely dropped the ball in their ‘Live On Air’ coverage of the upcoming Round of 16. To rub more salt in the wounds of Croatian fans, they mistakingly placed Croatia, instead of Costa Rica, in the Round of 16 match versus Greece.
Sure it was an innocent mistake.
But when will Croatia return to knockout stages…for real?
Oh. Well, if Holiga said it we know it’s true

Well you go over there and start a business 😀
Whats the business?
Hows your Croatian? Do you know who you need to grease and do you have the funds to grease them?
nothing’s more important than the psychodynamics of projection, idolatry and religious participation present in the NT my man Mishko.. NOTHING.
It’s not accident people say “i follow football religiously” etc.. or that those LA croats watched the game in a church.
Not an accident.
Can’t help u with business money is something i dun care nor know anything about : )
You guys are still fucking crying about the WC?
HELP ME UNDERSTAND HOW TO START A BUSINESS IN CROATIA. That’s more important than crying about this bull shit.
BECAUSE NO ONE MADE ANY MONEY on the WC that will end up helping our peoples pockets other than the communists that control it.
Think outside the box for once, and this is coming from my heart.
Agree with soul champ. Niko needs to stay on as coach. Time for the younger generation to step up.
The national team should get Mihaljovic the be the next coach 😀
Playing with ridiculous risky tactics, playing players out of their natural best position and etc. Horrible, horrible, horrible!
KICK KO-FUCK !!!
http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=53a98132e4b00f1381969dad
. If I were calling the shots at HNS then I’d have Ko Fuck fired immediately after this tournament and do whatever it takes to get Boban in there. Ko Fuck…GET OUT!!!
I personally wouldn’t want someone affiliated with murdering Croatians to be leading Dinamo and especially the national team, but that’s just me.
War criminal? As long as he doesn’t kill anyone on our team (except maybe Olic :D) i wouldn’t mind as long as he get’s the Cro national team good results. But then again…im biased because i’m a Dinamo fan lol and because i rooted for Algeria since El Soudani is on their team
Why was Mamic a retard? Vaha was a great coach with the limited team he had and i hope Dinamo get him again.
Halihodzic’s bro is a legit war criminal.
Don’t think too many Croatians would be happy if he were to be appointed as boss. Mamic is also a retard for hiring him way back when.

@ Bobby V
Have you record today homie.
We do not need a whole new crew!
We have class players in their prime.
Young explosive talent 20 yrs old.
Potential phenom at 18.
And other studs chopping at the bit.
We will dominate qualifying and spank GLI azzuri!
Be first clime the rankings with a great run in France ’16 and be seeded for 2018.
Mandzukic – Rakitic – Modric – Subasic all have 4 more years at top flight.
Perisic – Lovren – Vrsajlko are heading into their prime.
Rebic – Kovacic are ready for a break through.
Perica – Halilovic – Pasalic will all be ready for this campaign.
What basement weed are you smokin ?
Kovac learns from this, trusts his u21 crew, we will be in business.
Rakitic needs to Captain us through France.
If we win then he continues.
Uvijek Vjerni
yeah i think if this world cup has shown anything it’s that a well-coached and tactically sound team can compete with the most talented countries out there..
costa rica, algeria v germany today etc..
i mean there’s no way teams like greece, costa rica, algeria etc are better than us on paper but they are better coached for sure
@Mr. Black
I am impressed with Halilhodzic (always knew he was a good coach) but it’s funny you mention muscle cramps.
His Algerian squad was dropping all over the field with muscle cramps today.
@Bobby V
Re: your comment…
“There is a serious lack of futbol talent with players in the 20-24 year old range in Croatia”
This isn’t true.
We have Lovren (24), Perisic (24), Vrsaljko (22), Rebic (20), Kovacic (20), Brozovic (21), who all played in this World Cup with most of them being a pleasant surprise.
– Lovren finally stopped his ‘kiks’ streak and was pretty solid.
– Perisic looked like a superstar out there and took his game to the next level.
– Vrsaljko, despite being played out of position, looked very capable and better than most of our players.
– Rebic looked dangerous as hell out there and didn’t seem to be phased that he was playing in a World Cup.
– Kovacic was as we already know how skilled he can be; and
– Brozovic (though a bit nervous) still took more shots on net than both Modric & Rakitic in this World Cup (as our midfield should start doing).
Plus, don’t forget that Rakitic is still only 26 years old and Badelj is still only 25. You also have to factor in that many young players can improve drastically over a two year span (ie. Jedvaj, Halilovic) and could exceed expectations and become early additions to our squad much like guys like Kovacic and Rebic were to our current squad.
I’m just as pissed off as you are about this failed World Cup, but I’m not pessimistic about our player talent. Most of these guys I mentioned could make our starting lineup in a couple years time. Place them alongside a handful of veterans (ie. Modric, Schifo, Strinic, Mandzukic, etc) and we’re still good.
Hopefully our coaching situation works out. So far, that’s a bigger concern than our LB or DM situation.
I saw a lot of game at the World Cup and I just realized one thing. We were one of the few teams without players who ended up with muscle cramps at the end one of the games. Kovac is a shit motivator. We should Fire him and hire Halildhodzic. Did you see how his players run against the Germans?

“Serbia started their youth movement 2 years ago and will soon be ahead of us.”
They have an aging back line and they still do not have the midfield or the strikers we have and to be honest I find Lazar Marković a tad overrated.
A good player, but nowhere near as good as they and the media are making him out to be.
Ivica you are Macedonia and have bad football team. Fáte skatá!
There is a serious lack of futbol talent with players in the 20-24 year old range in Croatia.
Yes, there a few, but, not nearly enough good players in this age bracket which means we will be regressing in the next few tournaments rather than progressing.
Serbia started their youth movement 2 years ago and will soon be ahead of us.
We list names of our talented youth players and talk about which clubs want to sign them, sometimes believing that these top clubs look at Croatia only.
As of now, it looks as if we do have more consistent talent with the 17-20 year olds, but that won’t be of any help for awhile.
Things go in cycles. Croatia will be going through what Serbia and Sinisa Mihailjovic just did in the next few years.
The players you want to retire will be replaced with the youth who won’t be ready…..and that serious lack of talented players in their early 20’s that we have right now won’t be enough to provide the backbone for success in the near future.
@Hellas
Your Macedonian is very poor.
It’s pronounced ‘jadete gomna’
We went better than you guys in World Cup! We never give up and Miami he does not know!! You only wish you better than us in football! Fáte skatá.
2 ways The national team can look like for 2016
Pletikosa-Srna Lovren Carli Pranjic-Modric Rakitic Perisic Kranjcar Olic Mandzukic subs Jelavic Rebic Kovacic
or
Subasic-Vrsaljko Lovren Jedvaj Strinic- Males Modric Perisic Rakitic Rebic-Mandzukic subs Kovacic Kramaric Perica
On a brighter note, trying to look forward:
Cilic thru into the quarterfinals for Wimbledon , …….mostly likely he will play Djokovic, or Tsonga. Great interviews this year by the way Denis, with Marin, and Goran.
I just think the thing that mess up cro is its poor HNL Strong HNL strong national team
As much as we shit on Cro, the two tournaments we missed, we missed them by a single point.
However, we really do need an experienced coach to take us to that next level. We’ve completely been relying on our individual talent thus far.
Some of you guys have mentioned the 2010 WC qualifying campaign as a Bilic Failure. I watched every match of that campaign and we were a shell of a team compared to now.
Also England dropped their last game against the Ukraine on purpose to hurt us. Modric and Olic were both hurt in the later stages and Rakitic was just showing his abilities.
No Super Mario either. For god’s sake we still had Jerko Leko on the team. Da Silva never came back to form. Modric had to save our ass in Zagreb to draw the Ukraine when we hit the post like three times in that game.

@Bijeli Oroz
My co-worker will remind me on average three times a week that they won Euro 2004. My response to him is always, “Yes, miracles do happen.” and “Good luck doing that again!” – Although, he will admit on occasion that they play horrible football and that they are boring. How can he not admit that though? Having to rely on corner kicks to score goals is pure desperation and disgraceful.
“That’s why I really celebrated their downfall by Costa Rica.
I savoured every second, watching footage of them having a cry on national TV.”
Of course you did, and that is why you’re very intelligent my friend. 🙂
@jm
Mexico had a good tournament. Herrera had that team ready and prepared. The tie against Brazil was a great advantage to them when playing against us but there is still no excuse for how poorly we played against them. I waited until the Holland game to properly critique their tournament and in the first half they were outstanding. Have to give them credit although I really don’t want to but have to call it like it is.
We have to regroup and hopefully kick some ass at Euro 2016! Nema predaje!
http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=53a98132e4b00f1381969dad
although cro was really dealt a bad hand in refereeing against brazil, mexico might have had it worse
– two legitimate goals ruled off side against cameroon
– no handball on srna’s two handed block
– last minute penalty kick awarded (although it probably was a penalty)
@Miami je govno
I know exactly what your talking about. Melbourne Australia has the largest population of Greeks outside of Greece. And naturally I know alot of the malakas, and they go on and on about 04. They make sure to remind me every chance they get.
Some acknowledge that they suck but they tell you nothing compares to the Greek heart, a true mighty ducks story winning the trophy.
They also make sure to remind me of the time they finished above us.
That’s why I really celebrated their downfall by Costa Rica.
I savoured every second, watching footage of them having a cry on national TV.
Um that article is a little bs bro how is croatia Mexico and Brazil through to ko rounds? Makes as much sense as regurgitating a obvious scripted match v Brazil …it’s done ..finished no matter how hard u cry or blame refs we have shit d and had worst ref for opener gg better luck elsewere.
One more thing. If our national team didn’t advance because our players played poorly. Guess whose job is it to motivate and FIRE UP the players? Yep you guessed it, the COACH!
And if Kovac can’t do that. Then ya gotta get a coach that can! Plus his poor tactics and playing 5-6 players out of position doesn’t help.
This article is so relevant. That penalty kick for Brazil is completely why we shit the bed against Mexico. Its not because the team didnt play to their potential or even seem to care. Its cause Brazil got a penalty kick awarded.
We gotta a number of players linked with top clubs:
Roma want to swoop in for Strinic and Hajduk’s Vlasic.
Tottenham want Brozovic.
Lovren linked with Arsenal as well as other Prem giants.
It’s no wonder. With the national team not going far in Tourneys. Clubs don’t have to worry about Croatian players getting worn out. 🙂
@ jm
Barcelona is the best training in the world.
Inter is đubre .
Halilovic will be ready and he needs to be the wild card off the bench from day 1.
This is the time to give the nod to the young studs.
Conservative thinking had as get bum rushed my Mexico.

“I can’t disagree with you about their entertainment value.
Want to be cured of insomnia? Watch the Greek national side play a game. They suck the life from a game, scavenger tactics, anti football,but somehow they are there. Granted with the help from some of the most favourable groups.”
Nicely done and oh so true.
“I thought Denmark winning the euro 92 was a miracle, but then I witnessed 04 and couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought I was watching a fantasy fiction story.
The biggest fluke in sporting history. And I thought once the dust settled they would go back to being well, Greece. A nation that will qualify for tournaments once every blue moon.”
Greece winning Euro 2004 was a miracle. That will never happen again in that manner.
“But somehow they have qualified for 5 out of the last 6.
Weak groups aside that’s better than I thought.”
Lucky draws and lucky events on the pitch will do that. Did you see the link I provided to their upcoming Euro 2016 group? That is the easiest group I have ever seen. There is something seriously wrong with the FIFA rankings if a team like that is constantly highly ranked. People can say that about us as well and I want argue but at least we do not play anti-football.
“I used to view Macedonia as the better outfit prior 04, that’s why the surprise me.”
I respect how Macedonia plays the game more than the Greeks. The Greeks don’t surprise me at all on the field. How can they?
I cannot respect how they play the game in anyway. If people do that is up to them but I don’t. It is so painful watching them play and I could care less about their results. But… if people appreciate it that is up to them but I won’t drink the Kool-Aid.
I work with a Greek fellow and I kid you not, till this day he reminds me almost every day that they won Euro 2004. It is totally sickening!!
Regardless of my co-worker and his obsession with all things Euro 2004, I maintain my objectivity. They play horrible football and have lucky groups and draws and cannot score goals if their life depended on it. The Costa Rica game was a prime example of their lack of creativity and unwillingness to pursue offense.
All I know is they are out and it makes me very happy and the first thing my co-worker will say when I get back to work is…
“At least we won Euro 2004.” and my response to him will be “that is fine, the paint that is drying on that wall over there is more exciting and has more heart and integrity then how your country plays the game of football” – Then we go on with our day. 🙂
@ soul champ
I’m just very doubtful halilovic can contribute any time soon. he’s currently not one of the 30 best cro players. so expecting a strong contribution from him in the next year or so seems like a stretch. by the time euro 2016 rolls around, he’ll be 20 years old, which is the same age as kovacic. kovacic actualy played a dinamo, and played minutes for a major club team for two years before this tournament, and he did not do a thing in brazil. expecting halilovic to do much more will be tough. hopefully i’m wrong.
@Miami je govno

Guys was it not our fans that tried to firebomb one of their buses which had women and chlldren on Board In Zagreb?
You know exactly how weak Brazil without partiality from Referee !!
They just got lucky with home side advantage @@ ! !
Tin Jedvaj should be our defensive mid.
@Bijeli Oroz
“Are you referring to me when I said the Greeks know how to get the job done.”
No, I was not referring to you.
“I said they have been consistent since winning euro 04. Are you denying that? Look at their record before 04, 1 world cup appearance 0 wins minus 10 goals.”
As I said before, the Greeks winning Euro 2004 means nothing to me, it was a great achievement but they were very very lucky. In the last two games versus the Czech Republic and Portugal they had a total of two shots on net combined over two games and they ended up winning both games!! Who does that?? That was total BS!! Euro 2004 was a once in a lifetime thing that will never happen again. Never.
“And after 04 they have only missed the one tournament 06, and the last 2 they have progressed to next phase.”
I don’t care how many tournaments they make or don’t make. They are disgustingly boring and they are anti-football and they get the luckiest group draws in history!!!! This is their group for Euro 2016!
http://is.gd/sZv7DQ – It does not get any easier than that!
I would have loved to seen what they would have done with the group we had in Euro 2012. We did not make it out of the group but we made it interesting and the two teams in our group ended up going to the final of Euro 2012. The Greeks would have been destroyed in our group. At the end of the day we play football and it does not matter if we made it out of the group or not. What matters is that we don’t play anti-football like the Greeks. If we did, I would never ever ever watch the games!
“You have to hand it to them, they put a plan in place got foreign coaches and have had success.”
I don’t have to hand them anything because that would be subjective. They play anti-football and I would rather watch paint dry then watch their games, and I am being sincere. If I have to hand out some praise it will go to Mexico who plays football and the United States. Everyone was laughing at the United States when they were drawn in that tough group. Nobody is laughing now. I would have loved to have seen Greece play Brazil and Holland like Mexico did. That would have been very funny!
“All this coming from a team that was a footballing minnow.”
They are still a footballing minnow in the way they play the game of football. Their lack of creativity, the bunker every game mentality, and the horrific lack of offense which was shown today in how they literally cannot score goals if their life depended on it, and the only reason they maintain their FIFA rankings is because of the easy groups they get drawn into.
Oh, and last but certainly not least, and this falls under the category of an elephant never forgets. I will never forget what they did to our fans the last time we played them. That was a disgrace!!!!
Ding dong Greece is out, Greece is out, Greece is out!!!!
You guys bag Greece about their poor record and history in football. What about Spain football powerhouse they won their first World Cup in 2010 and they won Euro 2008 and Euro 2012. Before that they were chokers a disgrace. We also couldn’t defeat Greece in Euro 2012 qualifying in which they topped our group. They defeated us 2-0 in Greece and it was 0:0 in Zagreb.
All we need is a strong holding midfield player.
@Miami je govno.
Are you referring to me when I said the Greeks know how to get the job done.
I never at all said they were a powerhouse team.
I said they have been consistent since winning euro 04. Are you denying that? Look at their record before 04, 1 world cup appearance 0 wins minus 10 goals.
1 euro appearance 0 wins 1 draw.
And after 04 they have only missed the one tournament 06, and the last 2 they have progressed to next phase.
You have to hand it to them, they put a plan in place got foreign coaches and have had success.
All this coming from a team that was a footballing minnow.
On stimac and Bilic they were both inept to coach the national team.
07-08 Bilic had the players believing in him but after the turkey loss he lost them. Heavy defeats against England on a previous fortress (maksimir) and worst defeat on record at Wembley. Missed world cup aswell.
Stimac was a colour commenter before hand. Nuff said.
Now Kovac shows what a stubborn hot head he is and persisted with players even after they failed to deliver in previous matches (pranjic+pletikosa)
Outcoached, outwitted and then denies the truth and tells us we played well.
Hack!
@Vukovar,
Thanks for sharing the video link. Vukojevic is right. Kovac is WAY in over his head.
I know end of the day im happy greece is out lucky anti football. I just think 2014 wc was a waste for croatia because of HNS and the lack of running and they are not qualified to run a national team
@Crvena Jabuka
You have every right to be upset about our team and I don’t blame you at all.
But, there were people saying they were more proud of Greece who get the luckiest draws and calls of any team that has every played sports. They lack any nuance of creativity and flair and bore me to death. Game in and game out!
Their luck could not help them today!
Samaras is so slow that the “Chariots of Fire” theme song plays when he gallops down the field.
Ok yes but we arent twliking history but last 10 years croatia didnt make movement its nice to have all these player that croatia do its a shame they cannot go far in tournaments gadi mi se we are not limited i dnt believe it modric rakitic kovacic srna mandzo olic oerisic lovren carli come on a good coach and HNS would make us go to next round i know that deep in my heart its true
@Crvena Jabuka
Who said we were a football powerhouse? We play football or at least we try to play what can only be described as an essemblance of football. We don’t play anti football.
Yes the Greeks won Euro 2004 and they will be the first to let you know that piece of information every friggin second of the day.
In 80 years they made the World Cup 3 times. In 16 years we made the World Cup 4 times. In 80 years the Greeks can only make the tournament 3 times?? That is a disgrace.
If we played football like the Greeks I would never ever watch our games. I could care less if we qualify for any tournament if we played football the way the Greeks play football. What am I supposed to cheer about? Anti-football? I am supposed to cheer about watching paint dry rather than watching this boring anti football team. A team that bunkers game in and game out. Is that what I am supposed to get all excited about?
The only way the Greeks were going to win today was if there was a red card involved somehow, and they got their red card and they still could not win the game because they don’t know how to score goals in their anti-football world that they live in.
The Greeks are out and Costa Rica deserved to win that game. Bravo Costa Rica!!!! Boo anti football!
Croatia is no football pwer either since 2002 greece is better for our homer info. 2004 champs 2010 2008 they qualified 2012 2014 advanced passed group stage croatia only 2008 advancedand dont say greece had easy group so did we 2002 2006 2014only 2004 and 2012 we had strong groups
Or maybe you meant would have
Yeah Niko is a great coach, first order of business bring back a Mohawked shit stakn to shit the bed at LB, then just put players where he wants and ask them to protect said shit stain. Then after his tactics lead to shit he runs to austria. Samo naprid Niko majstore, ti si spas 😀
@Split
I don’t care what we would have done or not done. I never said I was happy with our play against Mexico in anyway.
But…..
The Greeks are out and Karagounis and his Gyros are not football super powers! Never have been and they never will be.
meant they would of given up
@Govno
if it was Croatia in the same position with a goal down and a man advantage for seventy minutes……guess what they wouldn’t given up. Greece did not, the dutch did not. Our players don’t need a new coach, they need a psychologist.
We as fans have right to be homers but i like to be realist and say NK should us fresh blood with some vets i didemo naprijed nasi
@ ivica you are right. But if they give it ato a former vatreni atleast let him have some experience. You know whats funny suker is paying stimwc and kovac for 2016 haaaa.
why thank you Ivica, no need for me to make any points here when dealing with these blind homers, keep it up though, great entertainment 🙂
Hiring former players is an excellent strategy if you’re the HNS.
You get to pay them the lowest salary possible (as they are in no position to negotiate due to their lack of any coaching experience) and the fans will be distracted by their admiration for him as a player and be open to giving them a chance.
If it works out, great! You got yourself a half decent coach at amazing cost. If not, no biggie, as you can just jump on the next former player who wants to kickstart their coaching career.
Even after Bilic, Stimac, and Kovac…there are many on here who are throwing out names like Tudor and Prosinecki. It’s a strategy that works… but only for the dudes at the top of the HNS. On the field, it results in mediocre results at best.
Ma NK is ok. But HNS need to go MAMICU CIGANE JEBEMO TE MI TI NISI DINAMO DINAMO SMO MI HEJ SUKERU TURCINE NAPUSI SE KURCINE HNS PEDERI NOGOMET STE SJEBALI. MAMICU CIGANE ODLAZI IZ HRVATSKE. JEBATE SEVA.
Guys, remember…Vi ar smol kantri. Dis is gud for as. Bi hepi.
Stimac never should have got the job injuly of 2012 that was most laughable move after the little sucess Bilic had. IMO Pamic Tudor Soldo Vulic should have got job and this mess in qualyfying maybe would not have happened and we would have built for 2014 not this mess HNS needs rebuild. We could have had a good team but with S&M incharge we will only get to tournaments beacuse that good enough for S&M 10 million not bad tko jebe uspjeh.
Excellent points sklad!
You make a great argument with your points and all 🙂
wow, the vitriol on this site and the stupidity
so now Niko Kovac has been total shit, just have to shake my head at some of these comments regarding him, the savez, etc.
@Split
” agree they are garbage, hate their style and always have but jebiga they played today when it mattered. Went down and did not give up. Dutch were down did not give up. Our players just gave up and look to whine and complain afterwards.”
They had a man advantage for over 70 minutes. Of course they did not give up. Good bye Greece you anti football freaks!!
Suker and Mamic out thats the. Problem e will never have success. With these guys at the helm. I keep reading we are limited and it bothers me why does age matter and why cannot the best 23 go to a tourmanet and best 11 start based on opponent lets look at it wnd be real. Pletikosa did he deserve to start did Olic do well at wing position why was prqnjic on team why not milic or even pivaric? We need to call the best and most ready players Jelavic sammir really croatia best i dont think so. Its sad but thats how it goes we need to male a movement HNS needs change big time this is no good man we judge players beacuse they playbfor dinamo and are mamic players if they are good i say let them play why not for me i want to see Halilovic on team but he has a reputaions as arrogant ass. I really dont know anymore God help the HNS us fans suffer most with a crap HNL and Mafija runjing it and laughing at us.
Fala bogu the Greeks are done…. Hate their fans, hate their league, hate the NT, hate the captain…. Anti-football. Feel bad for the only player I somewhat like, Samaras. He’s the only creative mind on that team…
@Ante
Yes we have been shitting the bed consdering who we have. Some of the best players rakitic, modric, mando and they did nothing. Niko has to clean up this crap.
@govno, agree they are garbage, hate their style and always have but jebiga they played today when it mattered. Went down and did not give up. Dutch were down did not give up. Our players just gave up and look to whine and complain afterwards.
Man…great for Costa Rica. I’m happy for them but jealous at the same time. I wish they had a live shot of Zagreb going crazy after Cro wins on penalties…I wish I could scream and cry from happiness like I did in ’98. It’s sad because we have the talent but have been shitting the bed.
Mamic was interviewed to today, he said
-Ademi and Halilovic should have been called up.
-Sammir should not have been called up, because he hasn’t played in months.
-Inter bid 4 mil euro for Brozovic, Dinamo said no.
-He wants to bring Eduardo back to Dinamo. lol
-He graded the NT performance, a 3 out of 10.
-He thinks Kovac should be the coach going into 2016.
-He said he hasn’t talked to Kovac since he became the coach. LOL
This is for the people who said that Greece were a football super power after their lucky win against the Ivory Coast.
Since 1934 through to 2014, they have made 3 World Cup appearances. Our first World Cup was in 1998 and we have been to 4 World Cups.
I am not happy with the way we went out of this tournament but what I am more unhappy about is with the people who said they were more proud of the Greek team than ours. I understand that people are upset about how we went out and I am one of those people but if I have said this once I have said it a million times….
I would rather play the type of football we play and lose to Mexico a trillion times than ever play the way the Greeks play football. They play anti football and only rely on luck of the draws and lucky events on the pitch. And to the people who say they are better than us because they went further than us in this tournament, my response is once again that is just fine with me. They scored 1 goal in 70 plus minutes with a man advantage today!! And it was lucky to boot! They deserve to lose!
Not that I like Mexico in anyway shape or form, but it would have been pure comedy to watch the Greeks play against Brazil and Holland. I tip my hat to the Mexicans as they played great football. Not that I would ever cheer them on but I have to tell it like it is. They tied Brazil 0-0 and scared the crap out of Holland today! Not to mention what they did with us.
The bottom line:
In 80 years the Greeks have been to three World Cups! And only because of a very very lucky incident they go to the round of 16 in one of the three World Cups. Big deal!
Greece is a football superpower??? Sure they are!!!! LOL!!!
@Mishko i agree
COSTA RICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There you go Greece!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our WC is OVER get over it ladies. I still have faith in Kovac, and I think he’ll build a better team for the Euro, but we need to get the younger kids up and running.
BTW – Anyone know how hard it is to setup a business in Croatia these days?
Just to explain it for those too ignoranr to understand it, Stimac was shit, Bilic was good for first 2 years and ok in his last 2 and Niko has been total shit.
Sorry, I forgot to count the extra time. 70 minutes win an extra man…
@Split
The Greeks had an extra man for 40 minutes!!!
They are garbage and they are finished against the Dutch. They have scored 1 even strength goal in 4 games if you don’t count the PK in the last game and the gift they got today having an extra man for 40 minutes. Garbage and lucky!!!!
Wow. They tie it. Incredible. These players did not give up. Some how the Greeks did it. The Dutch did it as well and won.
This is what was lacking with Croatia. Our players were scared. Yet homers on here want to put the entire blame on the coach or talk about how great Stimac and Bilic were. Lol
The Greeks are the luckiest team in sports history!!!
A footballing super power????? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PUTO’S!!!!!!!!
That’s all I have to say about Mexican fans!
Niko is our coach. Full support for him.
Great Dutch comeback. Love that the Greeks are going home.
If we croatia would have lost big time vs Holland i think Croatia are not as good as we croats think or want it to be.
i said i wont judge Kovac until 2016 but if this is how he treats the player from what soirces tell me He Band player from giving reports after mexico loss,The veterans are angry on team word has if Edaurdo is gonna go all out tommorow on Kovac
Lako biti General poslje Bitke easy being general after the war but
Vs Brazil- Subasic-Srna Sifo Lovren Corluka-Vukojevic Modric-Perisic Rakitic Olic-Eduardo/Rebic
Vs Kamerun Subasic-Srna Carli Lovren Vrsaljko Kovacic Modric Rakitic Perisic Rebic Mandzukic
Vs Meksiko Subasic Srna Sifo Lovren Carli-Vukojevic Modric Perisic Rakitic Olic Mandzukic
Thank god Mexico got eliminated. They finally got brought down to Earth.
And their fans are so annoying. Can’t believe FIFA let’s them get away with “Puto.”
The Dutch show us how to get the job done. Congrats Holland!
@ Soul Champ, breaking out some useful heuristics there!
I cannot believe that FIFA alows Puto to get yelled at player but za dom spremni is bad really

@Bijeli Oroz
Stimac je govno!! If not for a very very weak Serbia team in Zagreb and if not for the heads up play of Josip Šimunić in Belgrade we would have been done.
The lineup Stimac used in Belgrade was hilarious!!!! LOL!!!
And we lost to Scotland twice!! I am not saying that Niko Kovac is a great coach, but he is a better coach than Stimac!!! LOL!!!!!!!
@Miami & majstore
Stimac made us finish second ahead of srbija with a little help from the Italians. Yes but nonetheless with it was under stimac that we achieved that. Not Kovac.
Robben is an expert at milking penalties, from my angle I don’t think it was substantial to warrant a penalty call.
Just my call.
Trully .> Ko-Fuck was futille resistance.. He was too obstinate and never learn anything .. this man was worse and even still me for deploying every player well in a decent formation !!
KICK THIS MAN OUT !!!
http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=53a98132e4b00f1381969dad
sorry puto’s hasta la vista baby
This is how you play. The Dutch were down and did not give him. Kept pressing and playing. Our players need to take note and show up next time. Instead we have the media and people blaming Niko. Sad.
@Bijeli Oroz
You said Stimac got us to the second round. LOL!!!
That was funny. What Stimac did was destroy our team.
@majstore
Go Dutch!!
How was that not a penalty?
Robben could have had a PK end of first half, nevermind this one.
Anyways, REALLY happy those dirty fucking wetback spics are out.
Great game clockwork orange turnaround. Non penalty, milked it.
Thank you italy for getting us in and thank you team USA for kicking us out.
@Miami
Yes I understand that but if it wasn’t for team USA mexico would not be leading clockwork orange at the moment.
In the end that’s what eventuated and that’s what it is.
We are out and mexico is in the quarterfinals as we speak.
@Dalmo Ante @Bijeli Oroz
If not for Italy scoring a late goal to tie the game with Denmark, in a game that meant absolutely nothing to Italy, we would not have made the WC 2014 playoff round with Igor Stimac.
The players lacked fitness in the end. That long shot by Neymar was watched in. I think Lovren was right in front of Neymar and he could have slid out to challenge the ball but he watched Neymar telegraph the shot. The Vatreni are lazy and don’t play as a team. Sime Vrsajlko and Mateo Kovacic played with the most energy.
@exactly
Now Niko Kovac gets the credit for stimac’s qualifying campaign?
Even a bunny rabbit at the helm would have qualified against Iceland. And Kovac struggled with that. Far far from convincing.
Stimac got them to second place, Kovac stepped in and finished off the job with the most fortunate drawing of Iceland.
This guy(Kovac) showed the world he ain’t up to the job.
Weak ass tactics and played favourites.
That’s a big fail in my book.
Bring on a foreigner or at least bring someone with coaching experience.
Cico kranjcar would be a 10 times better option.
Lets be honest Niko has done sweet fuck all, Stimac took them to second in the group and hs coached against Iceland. So took us to the world cup? My kurac could have led us to the world cup against Iceland and it would kbow better than to call back that shit stain Pranjic :D,
As in 2006-2008, not the greatest football we played as a nation, just the best we played with him as the coach, I thought that was self explanatory.
“we played our best football during the bilic era” —-LMFAO
Yes the great Bilic who took us to the WC 2010.
We have to stop blaming the coach for everything. He brought us to the WC and these players just shit themself on the field. Hate to admit it but Ziva was right all along about these players.
.
I blame the coach as much as I do the players. IMO they are all equally at fault.
You might want to mention that the supposed best midfield were played out of position and were tasked to cover a coach’s pet little shit stain. I dunno why it is so hard for some people to see that we lost the match in the coaching department. We can blame the players for not saying Fuck this lets just go out there and play to win, or they should have told the coach to go fuck himself, a for his tactics and b for putting in Pranja. Imagine that, Niko and Robert would have to strap the boots on again and Pranja would make 3, maybe Sammir would join them, possibly Brozovic and they are still 6 players short.
Niko has to go, foreign coach may or may not be the answer, i just want a coach with some experience and thats no beholding to the shit stains that run Savez.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvxIsjkj3GE Ratni Trofej, maybe Josip Skoblar would be a good candidate, Though he hasn’t coached in well over a decade, he mainly scouts for Marseilles, but someone who will motivate and make the players believe they are the best. Ivan Katalinic or Zoran Vulic would be candidates too, they have been around the traps for a quite a while, Robert Prosinecki also comes up, when we played our best football during the Bilic era, prosinecki was on the bench with him.
http://www.mybs.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Screen-Shot-2014-06-26-at-10.56.46-AM-1024×496.png
agree and the ones who post uselss stats and come big time they don’t produced
How about from here on out, we cease using things like “best midfield in the world” until they actually do something useful FOR US. Sick and tired of hearing this bullshit hype around our team and players.
how to coach a bunch of mental midgets, no foreign coach would succeed with these guys, we had the best midfield in the tournament according to many, one of the best strikers, yet they all just walked around on the field, no hustle, no nothing, sramota
@Kroatien Zg
What about hiddink with south Korea and Australia? Cappelo did get Russia to Brazil pretty convincingly thou, after 12 years of absence from the WC.
Yes you are correct in saying it’s not always the answer but they (the savez) won’t even try it.
Obviously the route they have been going with is not working. The next logical step would be to try a foreign coach or atleast an experienced domaci trener.
after the way our players were on the pitch they would take the money and run, the majority of them do not deserve a penny
Eurosport.com: The Rio Report: Greece’s surprising request after turning down World Cup bonus
http://yhoo.it/1vkbbAn
Respect to Greece for this. Also ask yourself this question, would our guys be willing to do the same? And even if they did, the money would probably still be diverted to someone’s private bank account.
………………………….Mandzukic……………………………
…….Rebic………………Rakitic……………..Halilovic…….
Vrsjalko………………..L.Modric………………………Srna
…………………Lovren…DMF…Corluka…………………..
……………………….…Subasic……………………………..
This will be our finest lines up >
1) while Rakitic and Modric (both) can be change with Kovacic.
2) and Vrsjalko can be right back wing instead of Srna .. while the left back wing be on Strinic’s role ! !
3) Rebic and Perisic can be switch to each other !
4) Rakitic and Modric have space to their own in the middle
the can show for technique with support from
FW WingFW WingDeff and DMF
5) remember .. the big problem in this team .
when we are too affraid to changing Modric and Rakitic. . even further bench him > and playing for alternative ! !
http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=53a98132e4b00f1381969dad
Donetsk is a geopolitical mess, I wonder how that will affect Srna’s career.
He has made more than enough money, maybe a return to Hajduk wouldn’t be out of the question.
IDK. Depth is our problem.
We will have to rely on older players or players that are a clear step down in quality.
Srna will at least be a sub for the next EURO.
He outran almost every player on the pitch regardless of age.
He hustled the whole Mexico match.
@ Faux Cro
Srna is the Croatian Landon Donovan.
He is no longer on the level and he needs to move on.
He is better saving his legs for 4 more years for his club career.
He gave his heart to the repka for years and played solid in Brazil. Full respect to his service.
Vrsajlko deserves the right back position.
Psychologically we need a fresh start for a new captain.
Truth be told we lacked field leadership this World Cup.
Rakitic is the natural choice as he has proven his leadership at club level. Takes all the free kicks.
Rebić , Perišić , Halilovic , Kovačić are all attacking dribble explosive players that will finally energize our goal scoring needs.
Full faith that will work itself out.
I would get Hrgota into the fold as to avoid another Drmic fiasco. Who would add the depth you speaking to.
I meant Perisic as LW and Halilovic as RW
Hopefully Halilovic pans out as a viable left winger.
Then we can play him with Perisic (RW) and Rebic as a center forward.
Even if this works out, we will have problems with depth.
@Soul Champ:
I can’t see Srna disappearing by the next EURO.
I agree about retooling a bit.
We will probably need the older players for depth, a role they may not be willing to accept.
I hate to say it, but Olic may be around for the next Euros as a sub.
Our center forward position worries me. We are too reliant on one striker who needs service to score. Jelavic is good against subpar teams, but can not be relied on to produce against solid opposition.
@ jm
Top 2 teams automatically qualify for France 2016 and the 3rd one to play-off.
You don’t think it is time to blood the young studs?
2 years in the Barca set up playing with Rakitic and you think Halilovic will not be ready for France?
Srna “solid” for two more years?
Brate have you been hanging out with your basement buddy lately?
This is the best time to release the old and welcome in the new.
@ Svima
Rebić starts every match going forward.
We get blessed with a legit Ronaldo running beast and you want to walk him around the track? Budala.
With Perišić packing heat again and Rebic on the rise, we finally have the attacking wings we have missed for the last 10 years.
_______________Mandzukic
Rebić ____Rakitic________Kovacic ____Perisic
_______________Modric
Strinic___Lovren_______Jedvaj____Vrsajlko
_______________Subasic
Subs – Halilovic, Perica, Mocinic
Spremni !
Niko’s new panel, Pranjic will be senior assistant, brother Robert relegated to deputy assistant, Sammir will fetch the drinks and Ziva will be HNS’s official scout in Brazil, he loves the lifestyle and trannies 😀
If Corluka does intend to retire, Domagoj Vida has to step his game up. He’ll be the 3rd choice CB, with the possibility of beating out Schifo (due to schifos age, 29).
Honestly i see Jedvaj being Hrvatska future star defender, i just hope he could first help Hrvatska by being a Defensive Mid. He’s got solid ball skills, he’s aggressive going to the ball, smart, and fast.
My lineup going into Euro qualifiers…
———–Mandzukic————–
-Perisic—Rakitic—Kovacic—
——–Jedvaj–Modric———–
-Strinic-Lovren-Schifo-Srna–
————-Subasic—————-
Key Bench: Rebic, Vrsaljko, Milic, Vida, Mocinic, Pasalic, Badelj, Halilovic, 2 GK’s, Brozovic, Some strikers?
By the way Suker is originally German not Turkish. Zuker.
First of all it’s ironic our first win at a world cup came against Cameroon a team that hasn’t won since 2002. Technically Niko Kovac is a foreign coach Don Niko JGL glumac. Fabio Capello did nothing with Russia and Guus Hiddink did nothing with Turkey so foreign coach isn’t always the answer. JM yes Alen Halilovic has played quite a few game for DInamo Zagreb he is ready to play for Croatia he will be 18 soon. Lionel Messi played one year for Barcelona B so we will see if Halilovic is of the same fate, Pletikosa, Srna and Corluka can leave.
@dalmo ante
You’re right the NSL was better to watch, but obviously the fans made the switch to the A League.
The truth is the NSL was dying a slow death anyway with dwindling crowd support.
Back in the early 90’s the atmosphere was electric at Melbourne knights stadium. But late 90’s early 2000’s it lost it’s appeal fans lost interest.
Jebi se Melbourne victory! A league sucks.
that goes to mamic get out of jail fund… cock sucker, fuck i might be in cro for qualifer and its my dream to go to a game and guess what id fucking boycott it
Here in Melbourne there was a jugo team by the name of footscray just (jugoslav united soccer team) and their home ground was over by the docks, stadium is now a container yard 😀
Anyways the proper Hrvatine would go to the stadium and stand outside to support Melbourne Croatia, they’d watch and chant from behind the chain link fence, so as to not fund the dirty jugo scumbags. Now the scumbags are those running the HNS so rather than turn our backs on the Team and the players, the fans should go and stand outside, let the players know they are standing by them and let the fat cats know that they can go fuck themselves. Just get in a truck with a big screen and screen the match, have a fun time and wtf will HNS do? Send the riot police in to beat the fans? Maybe they are stupid enough to do that, it would send some message out to the footballing world, in any case change must be forced.
The NSL was once something to watch back in the day, when clubs like Melbourne Croatia (changed to CSC which was still to ethnic and finally to knights), Sydney Croatia(changed to Sydney United), Marconi, South Melbourne Hellas were in the top tier competition, i was fortunate enough to see the early and mid 90s, when players like Simunic and Viduka played, Simunic was at the tail end of good football down under. Better football was played, but not aussie friendly, not profit friendly. Did i mention A league sucks balls? 😀
A foreign coach would also cost them at least 3 or 4 times as much.
But I’m sure those savings are all going into a reserve fund. 😉
@just say no to drugs
Yes, mamic is a veliki problem and has way to much influence over the savez. He is the puppet master.
That is the reason they opt for such coaches like stimac and Kovac. They are controllable were as a foreign coach wouldn’t be swayed by his massive influence.
We might not have made it out of the group stage but we did make an impact in this tournament check these videos out LOL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gx7KkaPbLFI
I think its a sad end to what was once a promising generation of football but HNS APEDERI NOGOMET STE SJEBALI. Suker Turcine napusi se kurcine. Until Mamic ans Suker run the HNS we should all boycott being into national team that zar from the 90s is gone and they are ruining the players first q is v malta in empy maksimir how do player feel about that?
So the game against Spain was stolen from us and now the one with Brazil to. Fuck UEFA and Fifa. Bunch of socialist cock suckers. WE KNOW WHO WE ARE!!!!!
Who says that’s a mistake?
I’m pretty sure if your playing in those positions for Inter Milan and Real Madrid you can do that for Cro, no?
I’m not saying you play that way every game. Each game is different. Obviously you can play a defensive mid depending on the team you play. But please just play players in their positions that’s all we ask.
Kovacic and modric to play deep mid???? They are not defensive midfielders. And playing with no defensive mid, well that’s just repeating the same mistake we made in the World Cup.
And Rebic is just too RAW to start for us in September. He made a rookie mistake with that red card. He needs more time. For now a great sub off the bench.
So for September we could play in midfield: modric, badelj/radosevic—kovacic, rakitic, perisic–mandzukic.
Above comment is a reflection of the utmost stupidity.
Stef T.O says:
– Corluka never again at central D he’s a right back
– Schildenfeld back in beside Lovern
– Vrljsko played great at left back
– Subasic replaces Plety
– Kovacic and Modric deep mid
– Perisic and Rebic wings
– Rakitic attacking mid
– Mandzukic striker
Agree with everything here! Problem is the fish stinks from the head and I don’t see things changing with the savez anytime soon. Stimac makes peace with Mamic->appointed coach. Next up Kovac who’s kum is non other then Mamic jr. Until that MAMIC GOVNO is exiled from Croatian soccer forever we will under achieve.
Ridiculous comments people make
Srna needs to go (still solid back there and good for another two years. i’m pretty sure no goals were scored coming down his right side)
Halilovic needs to play (come on now! he can’t even play for dinamo. if you expect him to contribute in this euro qualifying camp, you couldn’t be more wrong. maybe we can see him for qualifying wc 2018)
@ Svima
As always full respect to the passion that is being expressed for our beloved Vatreni.
New rules for naša reprezentacije :
1 – young legs are needed in the 3rd match of major tournaments.
2 – System/tactics are to revolve around best players NOT the other way around.
3 – Diaapora studs are to be welcomed into the repka when they provide a skill set that we are currently lacking: call this one the Joe Drmic rule.
4 – When we krevet po sranci (shit the bed) we own it with self reflective humility. Balkan bravdo is low self esteem, self hating Pizdari .
5 – Unless a player is world class or has captained us to a major championship then they can be benched, cut or dimished. The repka has been a showcase for our boys winning major club contracts. Nothing else is owed to them.
6 – If you couldn’t run a palačinke stand in Pakoštane in July then you should not run a perennial top 20 nogometni savez.
7 – Za dom Spremni is CORE to our national identity. Authentic PR campaign to thwart the pravoslavni propaganda needs to be designed and implemented with immediate effect.
Uvijek vjerni .
@JP
“If Klinsmann were a Hrvat, Donovan would still be starting”
Awesome! 🙂
What I can not believe is that Niko Kovac was even appointed as coach he was in the national team as a player until 2008 and he played with most of the players in the current starting 11. The players still around that played with Niko were Pletikosa, Srna, Corluka, Pranjic, Modric, Rakitic, OlicVukojevic and Eduardo. Pranjic should not have even been in the 23 man squad. Bilic at least was not coaching the same players that he played with, so one can at least say he had some objectivity whereas Niko just put in players like Pranjic because he is friends with the guy. It’s like taking an apprentice chef and making him head chef it’s just not going to work. Let’s face it the old guys like Plete, Srna, Olic Pranjic and Eduardo need to go in order to make room for new blood. If Niko had any class he would admit that he fucked up and resign.
Srna needs to go before everyone else, him and Pleti are by far our two biggest weaknesses. Essentially co captains for the last 8 years. Yes, Darijo doesn’t look as obviously bad as he might, but he certainly hasn’t impressed since 2008 Euro either. He’s a one-footed liability. Even then I never liked him as a leader. Big respect to both him and Pleti’s effort over the years, but they need to either leave or go to the bench voluntarily. I to je to. The complexion of our team will look very much different without Srna on the field. Frankly, it’s something of a travesty that Modric hasn’t been captain yet. I hope that Niko can move beyond his loyalties to make sure this happens. These somewhat irrational loyalties screw us as Hrvati, both on the pitch and off… it leads to not taking the tough decisions that are necessary to optimize our talent, abilities, and opportunities. Too much respect for tradition. If Klinsmann were a Hrvat, Donovan would still be starting, and likely the US doesn’t make it through!
@Garo Yepremian
Olic played his heart out and showed some guts unlike other players on our team!! But as I said before, I want him to retire because I have had enough of listening to people bash him for stuff that does not even concern him or make any sense.
I even had someone tell me that the reason Kovacic performed poorly was due to Olic?????? Call it a day Ivica, you have nothing to prove to anyone.
Thank you for your hard work, determination, and your time!!
@Poglavnik
http://bit.ly/1q2bmAV
@Allen and Chupe
Carli (28) and Srna (32) are old.
Especially the way the modern game is being played.
Look at Ronaldo (29). The man is a specimen, but this is probably his last World Cup.
@Chupe
“@ garo i meant on wing dont kid ourselves he was poor vs mexico v he isnt a winger should have been used as sub”
We did not get a shot on net until the 75th minute against Mexico. That speaks volumes about everyone on our team.
He was solid against Brazil and solid against Cameroon while playing out of position. He should have been used as the lone striker against Brazil but he still played very well and if we had a “normal” ref it would have been Olic that helps tie the game up at 2-2.
We don’t have strikers other than Mandzukic. If Olic is willing to sit on the bench during our qualifiers just in case he is needed that is fine with me. If he wants to call it a day that is fine with me as well. He is not a winger but but I give him credit for the effort as he was one of our three best players overall in this tournament.
I have nothing against a youth movement either.
@ Allen you are right but Carli needed to clear up personal life style back in 2006 2008 i had high hopes for him but he lives a party lifestyle but doesnt matter hope those are rumors and i dont want Srna leaving hes only 32 and he played well the others wont be missed, man if we had capable people in Hns i ask my self how do you hand this team to Stimac then Kovac man HNS PEDERI NOGOMEZT STE SJEBALI?1
Man croatian coaches hate youth they rely on guys that got us nowhere. We only have a 1/8 finish at euro 2008 we have done nothing since 1998 with better coaching croatia could have gone to 1/16 finishes but our coaches rly too much on the so called stars. imagine if the national team got players called up based on talent not age and other stuff man this world cup could have been something man imagine a team of starting 11
Subasic-Srna Lovren Sifo Corluka- Badelj Modric-Perisic Rakitic Rebic-Mandzukic-Subs Kovacic Olic Edaurdo Kramaric Perica Halilovic
lets face it NK is a amateur and i hope he gets experience through qaulfying and doesnt mess up fro 2016 and gong to 2016 should not be the only goal
Fire Suker Mamic
All those guys leaving except Corluka won’t be missed. Youth movement is needed, although I think Srna has one more tournament left in him.
Corluka leaving would really break my heart. Only 28 years old and already breaking down, wow. Make all the jokes you want about him, but he was clearing out practically every ball against Mexico. For the national team when games mattered, he’s usually delivered. Set up the first goal against Turkey, then scored third one in 2011.
Hope he can hold it together, really would be a shame to see him retire.
@ garo i meant on wing dont kid ourselves he was poor vs mexico v he isnt a winger should have been used as sub
@Chupe
“By National team material i mean guys like Pranjic Olic on the wing”
I thought Olic was one of our best players over the three games and he delivered. Nobody was as good for us as Perisic! He was simply amazing!!
Pranjic however was very poor in performance.
http://www.index.hr/sp2014/clanak/sto-hrvatska-mora-promijeniti-da-bude-kompetitivna-na-euru-u-francuskoj/757054.aspx
Aleksandar Holiga writing about Croatia on ESPN….interesting….familiar name
i agree we need youth with a mix of vets like euro 2008 dont give up on Srna he played a good world cup at rb but for me we need a change and get ride of some dead weight,
through 204-2015 i expect Rebic Halilovic Radosevic Jedvaj Misic Lulic Pjaca Brozovic Mocinic Males i say ademi but hes makedonija now given a chance mixed with the new veterans on team and idemo Suba Vargic Kalinic get chance in goal.
We need to get younger, and HUNGRIER!!!
^ ^
I agree.
Bring in the youth!
I messed up i meant to say was Havent proven anything with national team i thanked Stimac when he got rid of Pranjic.
Sammir plays for Stimac Stimac je cigan,NK calls him its ok.
By National team material i mean guys like Pranjic Olic on the wing Calling vukojevic benching him Jelavic 84 mins eduardo 15 mins makes no sense. id rather lose with young new players than crap. Pletikosa svaka cast but the coach needs to see he isnt a international keeper anymore loved you but BOG,
Maybe we are a limted team and we as fans have too high expectaions the most important Dado Suker got his 10 mill. and the next game i expect a BIG HNS PEDERI CHANT COMING which is bad for players but HNS needs to Bankrupt and start over.
^ ^
You’re contradicting yourself a bit by saying, “stop putting in players that are not National team material this 23 man team Nk called half were not National team material.”
Half of those guys you mentioned will most likely not be National team material either.
In football you need at runner in the middle a Dm the HNL along with poor Hajduk and Mamici are ruining Football im glad Rijeka is trying to build a sound NK Rijeka but Dinamo Hajduk need to do better with production and in general the HNL needs to improve. NK Lokomotiv have some nice Dinamo stars who got the call back by dinamo like Pjaca looks good Misic looks good but we are talking about prospects,
Second HNS is ruining the national team what are DADO SUKERS ambitions just get to tournamnet and to je to?
Man they reallly messed up and from 2012 to now is a disaster i dont blame NK because like Stimac he had too much faith in the so called stars.
Third Croatia need to set its goal what are the goals and stop putting in players that are not National team material this 23 man team Nk called half were not National team material for expample id rather have had the following go rather than the crap NK called
like the back why didnt he call a LB like Pivaric Milic Brucic Musa?
CBS ok the 4 were Ok caould have called Leskovic even Milovic from Hajduk,
RB were ok Srna Vrsaljko,
Should have called DM Males got hurt ok but Ademi or even Radosevic should have got called Badlej should have givin chance
Wings Halilovicis future no matter what people think of him Pjaca Misic should have got chance as they had good HNL
seasons
CFs Cop Kramaric Perica all should have got calls for freshness i hope for euro 2016 NK calls on his under 21 like Bilic did in 2006 and start mixing it up
and Pletikosa Thanks i adio go back to Hajduk and retire.
Vukojevic retired from the national team. There is speculation that Olic, Pletikosa, Eduardo and Srna are going to leave. Now Corluka is a potential goner.
I guess this means that Pranjic is our new captain. 🙂
@uskok
Counting your chickens already??
Fuck!!!!
Heartbreaking for Chile.
They did a great job, what a team, and lead by a great coach.
La roja, I salute you.
Steta.
Drugi puta
the Colombians are going to smack brazil
@Miro
Ladic is a smart man!
Ajde Chile. Za pobjedu.
Jebi se brasil I glupak nejma.
I think you all are missing the bigger picture. Ladic basically saying thes guys have no balls. Players let us down. Played shit and want to now jump ship. Sad.
@Robert pirsig
Now corluka doesn’t want to play under Kovac.
Pranjic still wants to stay on.
The news keeps getting better and better..Not!
@ivica
Right on.
@aussie kreso
That’s why coaches are there to handle the pressure and not be overwhelmed by it.
Kovac sadly couldn’t.
and Eduardo, god bless him, why did he get so little playing time? I’ve never seen him make any significant mistakes ever. He makes space, he makes opportunities, he’s so creative and gifted. More than any other player.

The game against Brazil was in Croatia’s control until Croatia scored. Then Croatia let off on the pressure, playing sloppy, turning over and hot-dogging the hot-doggers to no avail. Bad fitness? Too many turnovers? The referee made every single call he possibly could against Croatia.

Do Pardon for my noticing. .

…………………Lovren…DMF…Corluka…………………..

This will be our finest lines up >
while Rakitic and Modric (both) can be change with Kovacic.
and Vrsjalko can be right back wing instead of Srna .. while the left back wing be on Strinic’s role ! !
YESSSSS!!!!!
Fuck Neymar and Brazil!
Ivica,
Thank you for your link to the Bleacher Report.
But they are basically saying that we shouldn’t do anything, hope for nothing good to happen and perhaps, perhaps something will improve a little bit.
They make some valid points but it’s mostly bullshit.
To me there are only two possibilities
1/We fire Kovac and make a new team
2/ We don’t fire Kovac, he will lose one or two of our next games and we will have to fire him anyway. Only, we will have lost a few months and the next coach will have a hard time to even make it to the next tournament.
@Dalmo Ante
I disagree but accept your point of view, your cool brother.
Not a bad article by Bleacher Report. I like the last point. Makes a special mention about playing players in their natural positions.
5 Things Croatia Must Change to Be Competitive for Euro 2016:

@ IvicA right on, Niko shit the bed and is trying to spin it like the whole world didn’t see that we sucked. The fact he had to tell the players what he wanted them to say means he has lost the players and is just a guy trying to hold onto his crown by going into hiding and talking about how he was contracted. They can pay him out or if he wants to work for it, he can slice the oranges, him and Pranja together and fuck it if they wont fuck up that simple task 😀
@ Aussie Kreso, yes you are right about the pressure and guess what? Niko wilted under it, time to move him along. Fucking it up in one thing but then he shits on our heads and wants us to say thank you for the new hat? Come on i could stomach it if he came out and said that it was a failure that started with selection, instead he says it was a good tournament.
@Rob I
It’s not that Kovac fucked up in the tournament that worries me. It’s Kovac’s post tournament comments that worry me.
– We did not play beautiful football at all
– We did not fail because of a ‘lack of experience’ from our players
– We did not lose to a much better team
Him being easily irritated by the criticism from the media is worrisome. Them asking about a formation call, and him snapping back saying ‘ja sam izbornik, i ja odlučujem!”. Constantly playing off his disciplined ‘German’ upbringing, but acting like a typical Balkanac.
Very little has changed since Stimac left. Our skilled team still struggles to create chances, and our starting lineup selections always seem to have an unwelcome ‘surprise’ player or two.
The Vukojevic departure, with him thanking everyone except Kovac, signals that at least one player is disgruntled and is not going to stick around. Now there’s talk of Srna, Olic, Pleti, and others leaving (who are all still useful veteran players, at least off the bench for depth purposes). Funny how another veteran player in Pranjic, isn’t signalling his retirement from Cro football.
Kovac samo naprid. Unfortunately this team shit themself and learned that from Bilic.
Capello out and loving it. Most expensive foreign coach. Never forgot when he was laughing at Croatia getting beat by the English in Zagreb.
Love you guys but if you were anywhere near being a coach you wouldn’t be writing on this site, the pressure gets higher, i would love you to prove me wrong and achieve great things with the Vatreni.
People always remember the opening game of World Cups.
Nice to know ours will be synonymous with that shit refereeing .
That’s my silver lining..
He had his chance. Done. Move on.
When all of us can put the same line up together I would rather have you as coach. If I coached this team we would be in the final 16. Id put the boys in their positions and let them play. I wouldnt be experimenting like that idiot.
Next he’s gonna put Halilovic as right back. Stupid!
@ Rob there is a vast difference between Bilic and Kovac, under Bilic for the first 2 years we played good attractive football, we controlled games, made chances, took chances, etc etc, i lost respect for Bilic during the 2010 campaign because he persisted with the stupid notion of playing Pranja at LB, it was one of the major reasons we didnt travel to South Africa. Bilic earned himself some leeway with past results got another chance, but the fact was it all went to shit after the turkey match, Bilic shit himself.
Now on the other side we have Kovac who came in off the back of Stimac getting us to second and beat Iceland to make it to Brazil and other wins agains Mali, Australia and Cameroon, no world beaters there. Our game style is shit, we play with no cohesion, we create no chances and all of this stems from playing players out of position and putting players on the field that arent worthy i,e, Pranjic, see the pattern? That little mohawked turd has cost us dearly. To top it off he has the audacity to say we played good football that the whole world loved watching, no mexico loved fucking watching it, it looked great to them. He also goes on the run to Austria instead of facing the music, but not before telling the players what to say about the campaign. About as bad as Bilic giving himself a 5/5 for his time as coach.
He has to go for the sheer fact that we need to stop giving the biggest job to the “mali od kuzine”. Enough of this we made and thats a success bullshit.
Cappello did no better with Russia, i’m not against a foreighn manager but i believe we stick with Niko and atleast give him a chance, just my views. Who ios to say a foreighn manager would have done any better it’s a crazy world cup, fuck costa rica
Well .. I need someone on the charge of National Team

Slaven Bilic didn’t qualify for WC 2010 but he was fantastic for our national team. And he had limited coaching experience.
We are in good hands with Niko at the helm
This rotating door of ill qualified coaches has to come to an end.
But atleast with before they were disposed of immediately after failure.
Now Suker persistent with keeping Kovac as head coach???
Scares the shit outta me!
They keep avoiding the foreign coach avenue, when obviously this option isn’t working.
After the 2006 Australia draw exit. I remember they (savez) was contemplating with going with a foreigner, trappatoni no less, if I remember correctly.
Why won’t they even entertain that idea any more?
Even then I believe cico kranjcar is a far better qualified coach than N.Kovac, yet they were quick to replace him.
Slaven Bilic failed to qualify for South Africa, and they persisted to stick by him.
Why have they changed their philosophy on keeping coaches on even after they fail, yet they are unwilling to try a foreigner?
Something has to change. This generation of players had potential but never had anyone with the coaching guile to put a plan to utilise them best. So much wasted potential. Steta.
I just wish they tried something different, unwillingness to change you get left behind. We just get a different face on the turd but they are essentially the same turd as before.
@Rob I
Niko could tweet to Sammir “ti si pravi Hrvat”
he could tweet the messages to the players on the big screen. only one small problem, everyone can see…
Next move is a manager reading websites and making changes, fuck i love you guys but someone has to make the calls or we could have a tweet manager.
Kovac did well with limited preparation.
the players where fucked by the 60th minute mark and Merico over ran us. he tried to chase the game and we copped 2 more goals. give him time and he will get it right.
calm down and stop blaming Kovac
@Stef T.O
What if what you say doesn’t work, i believe the team needs to be sorted out in the qualifyiers not in three games, your point is very valid after the fact.
It’s funny how all of us and the entire world see the same thing but for some reason Stimac, Kovac don’t. Our line up is pretty simple. Little changes here and there but straight forward.
– Corluka never again at central D he’s a right back
– Schildenfeld back in beside Lovern
– Vrljsko played great at left back
– Subasic replaces Plety
– Kovacic and Modric deep mid
– Perisic and Rebic wings
– Rakitic attacking mid
– Mandzukic striker
Srna’s time is over unless you wish to use him instead of Corluka.
If we make some adjustments to start the second half against Mexico and score 1 goal, then we would be moving on.
Kovač was a solid player with big heart, never a creative type. Needs to add some more vision to his game as a manager.
At half time needed to rectify the Pletikosa move and burn a sub at goalie.
Come in with Kovacic and Rebic and take off Pranjić and Olic.
Rotate Rakitic upfront to connect with MANdzukic.
________________Mandžukić
_________________Rakitic
Rebić __Modric__________Kovačić___Perisic
____________Back four remains.
________________Subasic
This would have stabilized the defense and give us some energy in our attack.
Overall I feel good that we have stabilized the national program by making a World Cup.
The loss to Mexico allows us to clean house a bit and turn the page on the Srna era.
Rakitic should get the number 11 shirt going forward and Rebić get the 7, Kovacic 8.
Halilovic needs to be in effect!
What if Joe Simunic would have been our coach? Like they played, Pranjic, Pletikosa and Sammir would already be killed by now.
@dalmo ante
Spot on!
I dunno, i think the worst call was having Pranjic, Sammir and the Kovac brothers on the plane to Brazil, remove them and let the players play we would have had a better result, Hell dress a tovar in a suit and put him on the sideline you’re better off.
GOD please help us !!
You will be Shining on Our Lines Up ../

yeah it was the worst for sure it was a terrible way to start the tourney.. fucking utter garbage
ah well
