I’m just going to leave this right here. There’s not much else to say.
At the ripe old age of 35, Croatian captain Luka Modrić was named this season’s ‘Player of the Year’ for Real Madrid. On top of that, Lukita just signed on for one more year in Madrid which will keep him at the club for a 10th season.
Simply amazing what Luka has done in his career. He really is getting better with age like a fine wine. What magic will he pull out of his hat at EURO 2021?

Rebic might not be fit for euros
Now THAT is a loss for us.
Lovren not so much.
So if lovren is out most likely čc and vida cb partnership imo čc is a younger version of lovren with less kiks corluka skill thats what his ability scouting report says. So im guessing pongracic gets a call for a bench role
Caleta-Car is more Corluka than Lovren.
The knock on both Corluka and Caleta-Car is that they are both kinda slow. But they are both technically solid with the ball, and can send in some decent passes forward.
Lovren is faster than them, but less capable on a technical level. He looks nervous and unstable with the ball at his feet. He’s also got a massive kiks factor defensively (which makes him a complete wildcard in tournaments).
We’re better off without him, so I see this injury as good news for us.
At worst, this means that Caleta-Car is a guaranteed starter.
Would have been nice if Pongracic didn’t catch mono this season, or if Gvardiol had been called up sooner and tried out at CB.
I guess we’ll have to hope that Vida can put some decent games together.
With all these UFO sightings let’s take a moment to remember one of our own lost in the intergalactic war.

Hajduk terminated their Italian coach.
They are now going after some Portuguese journeyman coach (Jose Manuel Gomes)…who has had 15 different coaching spells, and never lasted more than one season lol.
They hired a Swedish coach with good track record. I thought the Talijanac did a good job?
Depends what the goal is.
If it was to build for the future, then no, the coach and Hajduk brass kept bringing in stop-gap veteran players who aren’t going to be here next season.
Hajduk has some intriguing young players that should have been playing full minutes all season.
But if the goal was to squeeze themselves into the Europa qualifiers, then yea, he was successful in doing that. But I’m not sure if that was some huge achievement.
No idea what Hajduk’s management were expecting. He seemed to do whatever they requested for him to do. Maybe they’re delusional thought they could challenge for the HNL crown? LOL, I dunno.
Regarding their new coaching search…
I just read that Jose Manuel Gomes was too expensive.
Weird considering the guy has a mediocre resume.
Not sure what Hajduk’s coaching search strategy is.
I hope it’s not the typical inferiority complex that some small minded Croats have, by thinking that some “Westerner” is going to fix everything.
They probably have talented coaches in the HNL or other ranks in Croatia.
Maybe this Swede is a diamond in the rough for them… But he was not their first choice, so I dunno.
My hope is that they cut those bums like Livaja and Jrradi from the team and start to really play guys like Buik and Dolček.
Keep some veterans for guidance and support, but not to replace these youngsters in the lineup.
Lovren out for Euros?
I just read a story about this as well. Its not confirmed yet but Lovren may miss out on the Euros. Is this a blessing in disguise?
Yes.
However, Dalic might pull a “Subasic at the World Cup final” move and play Lovren injured.
That would be worse than anything.
If Lovren is anything but 100%, then Dalic has to sit him out. Lovren at 100% is bad enough.
Dalic’s comments:
“Nažalost, ne mogu riskirati i ići na takvo natjecanje s ozlijeđenim igračima”, kazao je izbornik pa dodao kako još uvijek nije sve gotovo.
I agree…if he isn’t 100%, then he needs to stay home, giving a opportunity to someone else.
Amazing what he’s able to do at his age. Gonna miss him when he finally retires.
On a side note, anybody traveling to the UK for any of these upcoming games? Lost my tickets against both England and Scotland in the ballot, but still have the Czech game. Supposedly they’re making you buy a covid travel package to enter Scotland that requires 10 day quarantine (not sure how they will enforce) and 2 covid tests while there. Meanwhile you got Hungary, and Russia letting everyone and their sisters in. Sorry if it’s been talked about already. Just wondering if anyone is making the trek.
All he needs on his resume now is a Euro or WC trophy… let’s get er done boys
