Football Italia has reported that Marcelo Brozović has been named “Midfielder of the Year” in Serie A.
Not the best central defensive midfielder (CDM) in Italy, but the best midfielder outright in the entire league.
There’s something to be said for that as Broz is not a midfielder that scores regularly. He only tallied two goals for Inter Milan this season in Serie A action which should clearly speak for the rest of his game. Brozović is a rock defensively in the middle of the pitch. He challenges every ball, clogs passing lanes, and tackles viciously. He makes every teammate around him better by relieving a percentage of their defensive responsibilities and you can simply trust him to do his job behind you.
Brozović is one of the reasons Modrić can freely “do his thing” in the Croatian midfield. Broz anchors the midfield to relieve Modrić up backtracking unnecessarily. He’s an unsung hero. He’s also a head case. But he’s OUR head case.
Without the two Croats
Inter wouldn’t be near where they are
Prove me wrong;)
Yes the Italians have a keen eye for class
He is class. I hope he moves the man utd. He is the intense player the require
I have been watching him play quite a bit in Serie A, especially the past couple seasons. I am not surprised at all. He is very talented. I hope he can keep this same form for the nation’s league and World Cup. He is just as important as Modric and Perisic to the Croatian team. I think that second goal against Argentina in 2018 was due to his interception in the midfield, he basically set up the entire play.
There are some doubters of his I have spoken to, but I definitely think he is key for us, those accolades don’t lie.
Yes I think so. The thing with Brozovic is consistency. Week in, week out dude never takes a day off. Good for him.
Fully deserved. It’s about time he gets recognized.
Well deserved award for sure. Broz runs on average 12.5 km per game, by far the most in Serie A and almost up there in the entire world.
Broz deserves this honor! I watched a lot of inter games this season. When Brozović was on the pitch, Inter were lethal offensively, and an absolute bunker defensively. Whenever Broz wasn’t there, the entire team completely fell apart!!!!
Without Broz, they had nothing going forward, and the backline looked like swiss cheese.
