Petra Martić easily won her 1st Round Australian Open match against Viktorija Golubic 6-3, 6-4 and will now play the winner of #23 Zhang/Tig in the 2nd Round. They have yet to start their match as rain obliterated the tennis schedule in Melbourne on Tuesday. Martić’s best appearance at the Australian Open was a 4th Round finish in 2018. At the moment, she would be on course to meet #9 Kudermetova in the 3rd Round if she can win her next match.
Donna Vekić needed a 3rd Set tiebreaker (10-7) in order to dispose of Russian qualifier Oksana Selekhmeteva. Vekić will now play #18 Liudmila Samsonova in the 2nd Round. The farthest Vekić has ever got in Melbourne was the 4th Round in 2021.
Vekic looked impressive in beating the 18th seed Samsonova in the second round. She served well and did not make too many unforced errors. Nice to see her after the match interacting with the Croatian supporters at the stadium.
Martic unfortunately was beaten in the second round by her Chinese opponent and never looked comfortable making too many unforced errors.
let’s make this content full of joy by throwing some facts here:
1) the 98’s team is still the best team so far that we ever have!
2) we are classified as a B-tier team instead of an A-tier team ~
thanks to Dalic for not having a true forward and putting Lovren
on this team, so actually he brings us down to the B-tier class!
3) the 2nd and the 3rd place of the world cup| except WC1998
because we are lucky so far under Dalic!
I actually do, I ha e been following Matric.for quite some time now. I’m not suggesting she will win the whole tournament but she definitely has a chance to go for.a deep run at the least. Her game is much better than what it used to be.
I do follow tennis that it is***
Way to go keep it up Donna and Petra! Okay it is done. We have a comment. Mayb get more, if they are still playing in in the quarter finals
Haha…everyone still hibernating. No love for tennis or handball huh guys?

Good stuff girls. Hope they can do damage tho

We will have more convo on some random 12 year old prospect then most other sports;)
Keep the faith, maybe with new Men’s Junior’s wimbledon champ, Poljicak, there might will be some action, if he could start leaving the evening table before desert.
Would your dido care about some zena playing tennis? The answer is no.
Actually, Ante, appreciate a little diversity of sports topic, keep it up. Don’t mean to be smug. Thanks. All is good.
