Miocic is the greatest UFC Heavyweight of all time! Period.
The 37 year-old Cleveland native went five rounds with Daniel Cormier in Las Vegas Saturday night to retain his heavyweight belt. The fight went to a decision where the judges unanimously scored in Miocic’s favor. Miocic nearly TKO’d Cormier at the end of the third round but the buzzer sounded to save Cormier.
This fight definitely didn’t go without drama as Cormier poked Miocic in the eye early – and for the record – third fight in a row. And then, Miocic returned the favor with a heavy poke to the left eye of Cormier which handicapped him for the rest of the fight. Miocic took countless punches to the head but nothing that would daze him. He was the better fighter on the night even though a unanimous decision was a bit generous, in my opinion.
Miocic has now defended the heavyweight belt a record four times while winning the belt on two occasions. Now Cormier – who defeated Miocic in 2018 – will ride off into the sunset as he said this would be his last fight. But what’s next for Miocic?
He really has nothing left to prove. He’s already defeated Cormier (twice), Werdum, Overeem, dos Santos, and most likely his next opponent- Francis Ngannou. There was tons of chirping on Twitter after Miocic’s victory over Cormier, but Ngannou wants his rematch with the Croatian-American. On top of that, Jon Jones said he would move up to the heavyweight division as he currently hols the light heavyweight belt.
My guess: Miocic vs. Ngannou 2 in early 2021.
UFC President Dana White has never really liked Miocic. Miocic has been underpaid and under appreciated by the UFC during his entire tenure with the fighting promotion. What would Miocic’s ideal situation be? Fight until he can’t fight anymore? Defend the belt ‘x’ more times?
One thing is true. Stipe is golding down the fort for Croatian sports in the fighting department and he’s got plenty of gas left in the tank. Let’s see what he and White decide to do for 2021.
Five year old CANNON HINNANT was executed in front of his two older sisters by Darius Sessoms, because CANNON allegedly rode his bike on the mans lawn,
Why did George Floyd have run ins with the Police. Because be was a criminal previously jailed for theft with a firearm and was jailed on other occasions. On the day of his death police were called and were arresting him for allegedly paying with a fake $20 bill at a convenience store.
According to court records.
In 2007 saint Floyd pleaded guilty to the armed robbery where posing as a utility worker, forced his way inside a house, placed a pistol against the pregnant women’s abdomen, and forced her into the living room area of the residence… searched the home for drugs and money, while another armed suspect guarded the women who was struck in the head and sides by this second armed suspect with his pistol while she screamed for help.’
@ penaldo (great name by the way) wasn’t happy with DC not shaking hands. That was an Argentina WC move. Classless.
Look at Stipe’s face around his eyes after each DC fight. Nail marks. Nobody said anything about eyepokes until DC finally got it.
Deal with it. Stipe took time away from his family to have eye surgery due to DC. Time away from training. DC is a loser who jeopardized Stipe’s professional MMA career. DC was a piece of shit on his way out and well past his prime. No other heavyweight was as dirty as DC and surely no more in the future will be as much of a cheat as DC. Stipe says “god bless him” before and after the fight.
I think Stipe knocked off at least 30 IQ points from DC after the second fight. DC was defeated as soon as he stepped in the octagon. This is a small bump in the road for Stipe. He will remain the champ for however long he wants to.
I will never have a shred of respect for DC. In my opinion, DC is a piece of shit. A coward. A psychopath. A loser. People who talk shit about Stipe can keep betting against him. Nothing can stop Stipe.
Would be great it Stipe, a living legendary Northwest Joe Magarac , walked in to his next contest with the sober American patriotic Youngstown song playing , and walk out with Geni, Kameni blaring.
Here in north east Ohio

That helped the union win the war

To be fair, I don’t think McGregor was ever a boxer.
I think he boxed as a teenager growing up, but that was it.
Stipe is a golden gloves champ (which he achieved sometime in 2009), so he actually has high level boxing ability. I don’t think he’d embarass himself like McGregor did.
However, it’s a completely different sport and I wouldn’t expect an MMA champ to defeat a Boxing champ or vice versa.
But money-wise, yea that would be great for Stipe.
@filip
Probably because his murder want committed by a cop and his murderer was apprehended and charged within 24 hours.
Shut up fool.
I sure everyone here knows the name George Floyd but how many know who CANNON HINNANT was. Why is that?
Klitsko is a guy who dominated for
A long time but because he wasn’t a
Jumping moron and loved his mother
He never got the promotion he deserved.
“The biggest stars in combat sports have routinely been minority fighters supported by minority communities” Matt Gioia Sep 24, 2018. (…promoted by media). the powers to be don’t want to see a white guy on top. when people break from the anti bijeli programming the picture is clear.
@Pog – agreed 100% I’m saying it more in a position of how much money can he make in a short period where he can set his family up even better, where he can not get hit in the head by Nganmou and protect his health and potentially blemish his legacy.
But I agree with you, the McGregor Mayweather was a circus. I don’t think any MMA fighter can stand with a boxer. Only the former kickboxers could potentially make it more entertaining but I think would ultimately lose. Adesanya is 80 and 5 as a kickboxer.
Has there ever been a fighter with a good boxing record prior to joining MMA? James Toney and the guy who wore 1 glove at the first few UFC’s doesn’t count.
MMA guys trying to box is a serious insult to the sweet science.
Cormier initially came up to HW because there was no one left for Miocic to fight at HW.
Miocic should push for a boxing money fight vs Fury or Joshua (all three of them have put it out there before) and retire. I wouldn’t risk fighting Ngannou again but then again I’m not a fighter.
@ Slavonac
Peder Pep is a two bit pimp.
Did you give a Splićani Slavonac Hajduk coaching session to both Perišić and Miocic?
They both laid the wood this weekend.
Perišić is world class.
Hans Flick is plus one in my book.
Perišić is a two footed assassin.
Maybe some players are made for big matches and maybe some players are meant for the marathon of a league season.
Perišić – Kane – Son
Buy Vlašić and you are dealing with some serious power.
Stipe takes it to another extreme of acting like he doesn’t care…i think it would bee more genuine if he acted like he does care… even in defeat yesterday, you could feel cromiers emotion and made you like the guy…stipe in victory was kind of stoic that if youre not Croatian can probably leave you feeling very unconnected
Stipe the people’s champ, the truth wants him to act like a 15 year old child. Connor is a clown. Stipe is humble, hard working croat I’m sure he got that mentality from his folks…very common croat mentality in diaspora. Don’t be fooled, stipe has a large following. Stipe is a role model, the other clowns are just trying to make their money and move on.
Stipe needs to slap his old lady around or get caught in a seedy motel with a crack whore to increase his appeal with the masses …how sad is it in today’s society a stand up guy gets hurt in the pocket book for being a stand up guy…where that ginger Irish weasel gets lucrative deals for being a below average fighter but an above average weasel!!
Not sure how much McGregor made when he fought Mayweather…but it was somewhere between $30-$100 million.
Stipe just made $790,000 yesterday for winning his fight against Cormier (who made $530,000 himself).
That would be the best outcome. Fight Tyson for a big payday and leave the UFC.
UFC really do rip off these fighters.
Tyson expressed interest in a fight with Stipe earlier this year. Will see.
Stipe should just push for a big money boxing match with Tyson Fury.
He would likely lose that match, but he would make more money there than several fights in UFC.
Great way to cash out and leave the sport.
The WWE crowd is at fault.
The old 80s debate of whether or not WWE wresting was real or fake has finally been accepted as simply sports ‘entertainment’ and over these past couple of decades, the UFC has become that REAL fight that people watched the WWE to satisfy.
However, the other reason why ppl watch WWE is the over-the-top promos and dramatic storylines.
Stipe is anti-drama and is just simply a genuine guy. He’s not going to take part in any fake bashing and fake personas in some attempt to cheaply sell the UFC to those WWE fans that love things like that (like the DC/Lesnar faceoff or Khabib/McGregor bus fight).
Dana White je kurac. Americans are enamored with controversial figures who say stupid things and entertain for a living, which is why we elected a dope who is losing the fight against COVID-19. Stipe is the quintessential hard-working Clevelander. He’s looking forward to grilling and enjoying the remainder of his summer with his family. Dana hates him bc he won’t be earning him any additional $ on social media between fights by being a primadona.
Bravo Stipe!!!!!!
Great fight. I love Stipe as a human being and a fighter. I just hope he doesn’t fight Jon Jones. That’ll be brutal for Stipe. It’s a mismatch for stipe. But Stipe, Hvala Brate
I love Stipe’s persona. What do some of you want? For him at 38 to turn into that douche McGregor? To go to the WWE? Who gives a fuck what Dana and the other meat heads of the world think. Hes the baddest and he knows it. He doesnt get this far without already knowing that himself.
Dana White’s a piece of shit.
Treats all his fighters badly.
Independently contracted. No union. Fuck him.
We need another thread for the Man City game yesterday!
Unfortunately, I was driving home from my family vacation but I did get to see the game on DAZN when I got home.
I remember Pep Guardiola saying that winning the EPL was harder and more important than winning Champions League.
Prior to Pep arriving at Man City, they were already a powerhouse, winning the EPL in 2012 & 2014. Pep has spent more than any other manager in the world…look at his record at Barca, Bayern and now Man City and based on money spent vs return on investment…he’s pissed away over a billion + euros.
In my opinion, I just don’t put a whole lot of value in that type of manager! Yes he’s a great manager, but who couldn’t produce his results with that type of spending?
I bring this up because he’s a loud mouth that whines when he loses, he belittled the CL when he won the EPL and didn’t do anything in CL and now he had no alibi….he lost to a team because he completely fucked up his tactics and strategy vs a team he should have easily beat!
Great managers utilize what they have and build their team based on the player’s strengths…the type of manager he is won’t work like that…and this was something I’ve said about him for years and years…just like Sarri recently! They can’t manage different types of players, they require only their kind of players and only their perfectly designed strategy…which means the clubs they manage have to buy a specific type of player for each position, to fit their specific role….and that’s not managing, that’s just buying a team!
Was a great day for sport yesterday!
Great comment guys…very good breakdown BZ!
miocic is simply the best… the guy is an incredibly smart fighter and can really take a punch
but i continue to wonder why he hasn’t had popularity that has matched his success…. and i feel like i was reminded of it again in his post match interview
ultimately, stipe has decided to go with this blue collar man of the people persona who doesn’t really care about this whole ufc thing
but at the end of the day, i think it comes of as slightly disingenuine to people…. it’s like…. your destroying your body over and over again in this all out sport, but you don’t care about it?
every time he’s asked post fight, are you the baddest man? what you going to do next?
he always gives us some uninspiring, “i dont care about that, i’m going to go do some grilling, eat some birthday cake” answer
and ultimately, tha’ts not what the people want…how can you expect them to care about your success, when you yourself don’t care about it
so ultiamtely, i think he’s just played his persona wrong… with his track record, he should be marching around beating his chest left and right
he should be saying there have been 100 billion people that have ever lived on this earth…and if you had to pick one fighter out of them, it would be
Speaking of word class warriors ..
T-minus 3 weeks for our beloved Vatreni to take the field against Portugal.
Miocic should train the Vatreni on how to access BEAST mode.
And take down all challengers.
Also, yes, If I am Stipe, I would hold out.
#1 Hold out for as much money as possible
#2 Hold out until you are 100% ready and healthy
#3 Hold out to ensure that the two contenders (Jones and Ngannou fight each other first, before getting a title shot)
Stipe is in a commanding position.
There is no longer a dispute as to who the true heavyweight champion is.
They cannot threaten to strip the title from Stipe and hand it to a guy (Ngannou) that Stipe easily beat 2 years ago.
People wouldn’t buy it like they would if you gave it to DC (who had already beaten Stipe before). You could justify Cormier being a champ in that situation, but not Ngannou.
Jon Jones is sneaky and wants to fight Stipe with Stipe recently defending his title, and Jones being 100% and fresh. He doesn’t want to earn the heavyweight shot, and only wants warmup fights before going in. No way. I would insist that he fights Ngannou or some other heavyweights first.
Honestly, Stipe could walk away right now and be a legend.
Insist on a big money fight, and if the UFC won’t pay up, then just wait it out and have them sweat about trying to justify you vacating the belt.
If they’re not making Habib vacate his belt, then they won’t do Stipe either. Having two of the greatest UFC fighters forced to vacate their belts won’t look good. People don’t want to see pretenders being handed their positions.
@BZ
Correct about the Cormier eye thing.
That Round 2 pummeling that Stipe gave him included two hard punches to that eye. It was already closing up before the eye poke.
DC is just lucky that the bell saved him. Five more seconds and this would have been a KO loss for Cormier in Round 2.
The judges scored it right for the decision.
I would give Cormier the first round, but the next four were Stipe’s. One judge gave another one to Cormier (fine) but I knew when the match ended, that it was a unanimous victory for Stip. Cormier knew it too, when he angrily threw his hands down when he heard the first score.
BZ – you’re 100 % fucken right! Cormier was only talking shit about fighting Ngannou to bate Stipe to come back from his surgery. UFC and Dana rushed Stipe to fight DC #1 4-6 months after going 25 minutes with Ngannou. You’re chin needs more time to heal. My bro (amateur boxer) and pops (hapkido black belt) both say after tournaments or fights you need time to heal everything especially your chin. Plain and simple Dana White doesn’t like Stipe because he’s not McGregor and he’s a HW where they think they should be making more money. Miocic is a salt of the earth person and that’s what makes me like him the most.
Much like his fight against Ngannou, this was a master class in fighting strategy.
Rundown for those who didn’t support Stipe and purchase the PPV:
1) Cormier poked Stipe in the eye again. 3rd fight in a row. No points taken away. DC given a warning.
2) Cormier may have won Round 1, due to a big shot that staggered Stipe at the end of the round.
3) Round 2, just great fighting. DC looked like Screech, as he was saved by the bell. Stipe rocked him and was pummeling his head, while DC sat helpless as time expired.
4) Round 3. DC comes out looking like a one eyed zombie.
5) Stipe finally pokes Cormier in his left eye. This was the same eye that was already pummeled, and blinded from round 2. No points taken away or warning to Stipe, as the ref thought it was a punch.
6) Hand it to DC, he fought well with one eye, but Stipe was the better fighter in rounds 4&5.
Stipe walking DC to the side of the cage all night was masterful.
Stipe took some heavy shots again, but not as many as fight 2.
Stipe masterfully slipped to his right to avoid further punishment from DC’s right hand hooks and haymakers.
Next steps:
UFC will probably try to get Ngannou or Jon Jones to fight Stipe.
Here is the rub:
Ngannou’s last fight was easy, Ended in like 20 seconds way back in May. No way Stipe should be forced to fight a fresh Ngannou that has yet to even avenge his loss vs The Black Beast Derick Lewis.
Steroids Jon Jones wants a straight shot at the Heavyweight title, without EVER taken Heavyweight shots to the head. This is how DC got Stipe in fight 1. Stipe had just masterfully beaten Ngannou, but got rocked by Ngannou several times. DC comes waltzing into the heavyweight division fresh as can be after beating tiny dudes in the light heavyweight divosion. DC hits Stipe with a shot that Stipe clearly can normally withstand, as proven by fights 2&3, but given Stipe wasn’t 100% it was disastrous.
Let Ngannou and Jones fight for the shot at the title. No freebies. If not, let winner of Derick Lewis vs Ngannou.
No way the Champ should be fighting untested competitors, on less rest. No way!
Feels amazing watching Miocic win. The best HW fighter in the world is Croatian (from the US). Don’t any of you ever forget that. We have fighting genes.
Watched it here tonight.

As a former Olympian myself it’s once an Olympian always an Olympian.
BAHAHAHAHAHA Fucking greatest heavyweight of all time and baddest fucker on the planet. Fuck you DC! You donut of out shape eye poking cheap bastard. Got a taste of your own medicine I see? How does it feel? Stipe took those eyes pokes in the ALL THREE FIGHTS. DC takes one and that’s all we hear about. “Uh StiPE pOkED hIs EyE. Who’s cares? Maybe that will teach him a lesson. Too bad he’s retired. Stipe won that fight fair and square. Anonymous: He’s a “former” Olympic wrestler that didn’t even win gold. Stipe will fight Francis and possibly Jones now. Trilogy ended and thanks for showing up DC. Great career but Stipe is the GOAT!
It’s still 20-1 for eye pokes
Relax..title is safe
Next the other big crnac Francis
That was a bad eye poke by Stipe on the Olympian.
Stipe clearly outclassed Cormier. Cormier has a great career. The score card reflected that. Also thought that stipe could have fun images him in the beginning of the 3rd, Cormier saved by the bell and had no clue what happened to him. For all those turds on here who hate on stipe might be time you stop picking against the goat but then again he got that cro underdog mentality. ZDS stipe bravo
He fought a lot smarter than he has in the past! The commentators were saying the fight was close, I thought Stipe controlled most of the fight except for a few odd moments!
Congratulations Stipe!!
Congrats to Stipe
Dc was saved by the bell from getting kOd the fuck out. Good riddance dirty cheat.
Nobody can touch Stipe.
Friends don’t poke friends in the eye, fuck
DC the ugly Eggplant
Beast mode Miocic.
Stipe by KO in 3rd round.
Well done to dejan for scoring his first goal for his new club
I can see Lovren ageing gracefully there
The Olympian by KO!
Hey, any news Vlasic? He hasn’t featured in Moscow’s last 2 games. Is it injury or transfer related??
Peder pep losing again in the CL is a nice under card for Stipe.
Come on Stipe! Knock that tubby eye poking bum into retirement once and for all. A win will show that Croatian are the baddest and toughest fuckers on the planet. I’m a bit worried that DC is much lighter than the last two previous fights. Get the W tonight Stipe! OH!!!!!
Hope he kick his ass. Stipe should box his head in.
As long as Cormier doesn’t poke his eyes, the dirty bitch !
Stipe samo naprid.
Getting ready to order it tomorrow afternoon.
Win or lose, I am inspired by Stipe. My Golden Glove days are well behind me, but everytime I see Stipe fight, it’s like a peek into the past. I imagine how the great generations of Croatian warriors beat back the intruders from the middle east. What a sacrifice those generations made for us. Simply inspirational.
