American-Croatian Stipe Miocic will face fellow undefeated heavyweight fighter Phil De Fries at UFC on Fuel 1, which will take place in Omaha, Nebraska on February 14th, 2012. This will be the second outing in the UFC for both combatants with both coming off decision victories in their initial UFC outing. De Fries’ record stands at 8-0 with 7 of those victories coming by way of submission. Miocic will look to keep his unbeaten streak alive and continue his rise to the top of the heavyweight ladder.
Stipe advised me today via text that he will be leaving Cleveland for sunny San Diego from January 1st to the 15th to assist light heavyweight contender Phil Davis for his upcoming bout with Rashad Evans. Davis is part of the Alliance MMA team which is based near San Diego, California. Alliance MMA consists of some of the top guys in the UFC including Phil Davis, Dominick Cruz, Travis Browne, and an ex-opponent of Stipe’s, The Mexicutioner Joey Beltran. The opportunity to train at Alliance MMA should give Mioicic a chance to improve his overall game and train with elite fighters, which is always a positive.
The Croatian Crippler and Croatiansports.com will be following Stipe in the months leading up to his bout and will be providing the readers with updates on his training and development. I am also planning a ‘one on one’ interview with Miocic prior to his bout on February 14th, so keep your eyes open for that after the New Year.

Crippler,
How much is Denis paying you to travel across the continent to cover MMA? 😉
Doesn’t your wife yell at you for all of this time that you could be showering her with Valentine’s day sarma dinners?

Should be a good one.
Both underfeated, both standing at 6.4 inches, stipe weighing 3 kg less, and is 4 years his senior.
Phil de fries is well versed in submission, and will be dangerous if it goes to ground. That is why stipe needs to utilise his wrestling skills to hold off any takedown attempts and keep it on his feet to take advantage of his superior stand-up game.
February 14, cant wait, This is a interesting match-up for stipe, and hopefully our man makes it two for two in the UFC.
@Crippler,
Pack your bags for Omahaaaaaaaaawwww, Nebraska. Any Croats in Nebraska? haha
Isn’t that valentines day? I guess you will have to bring your wife with you. Nothing better than the sound of a cracking scull on Valentines Day.
@Mihovil
I gotta go with my man Stipe.I say he uses his wrestling to keep it standing and gets the Ko win.
I know it’s early Mike, any predictions?
You’re the man Mike.
