…and now they chant his name. While he sits on the bench. Injured.
The Real Madrid faithful chanted Luka Modrić’s name Sunday in the 63rd minute of their 1-1 draw against Villareal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid. Modrić has been sidelined since injuring his thigh against Italy in November but is scheduled to return sometime this month.
Real Madrid could use his services as they have now dropped five points in their last five matches and only lead Barcelona by two points in La Liga. Barcelona host Real Madrid on March 22nd with Modrić rejoining Croatia on March 28th to face Norway in Euro 2016 qualifying.
Modrić has never been considered a goal scorer or a game changer. But the ‘midfield maestro’ controls the forward tempo for whichever team he plays for. Will he come back even stronger for Real Madrid? And how will he pull the strings for the Vatreni moving towards Euro 2016 with a new crop of kids moving into the squad?
“LUKA! LUKA! MODRIĆ. MODRIĆ” chants at 0:25
My family call me a flop. I showed them by posting my valuable opinions on this site often.
Croatian People Rule At Everything !
Badelj played well for Fiorentina today against Juve. The Croatian Metronome played at the heart of La Viola’s midfield and set the tempo.
If we croatia only had a coach the mix of generations looks good but every coach but Bilic from 2002 is and are morons. The goalkeepers are all upgrade over dida stipe. Subasic Kalinic Vargic Livakovic Vukovic. D Srna Corluka Lovren Vida Jedvaj Mitrovic Caleta Car Bubnjic Datkovic Milic Strinic Leovac. M Modric Badelj Brozovic Kovacic Rakitic Mocinic Coric Rog Sharbini Pjaca Halilovic Coric Balic Pasalic Vlasic Rebic Mandzukic Perica Santini Kalinic even Olic ill put him in not lw or starter. If only a izbornik.

Sure, that’s why you post on this site ten times a day. Quite a life you’ve got there.
Ziva Bustina, classic.

@JM:
Welcome to the EPL.
IMHO non English players get less benefit of the doubt than English ones.
He shouldn’t have gone to the EPL.
back to football topics. is kramaric a flopper or does he simply get no calls from the england refs? this is now several questionable decisions, none of which have gone kramaric’s way
in his first game there was a big no call against him
in his second game, he received a yellow card for flopping after the goalie tirpped him on a break
in yesterday’s game, he arguably got hit on the foot by the goalies hand. then he was taken down in the box where a foul was called but no penalty awarded
@Aussie Kreso…….Madrid media in Jan/Feb 2013
Who called him a flop?
Michael Jackson statue at Fulham.
Some of the lamest sports statues I could think of:
Dave Andreychuk in Tampa
A Mighty Duck in Anaheim.
Roger Neilson waving a white towel and surrendering to the officials in Vancouver.
Being born and raised in Vancouver this last one just kills me.
The Canucks have been around for 45 years all we have to show is our coach surrendering.
Pathetic…
On another note…….I think I discovered another form of jock sniffing that is even more severe than wearing the name of another person on your back. Statues that are built for an individual while he is still alive. The Gretzky statue, the Michael Jordan statue, etc……any statue built while that person is alive and anyone who takes a picture of it just could be the worst form of jock sniffing.
Doesn’t matter anyway……he and his non-Croatian speaking father already said no to the outreach by the savez.
I wish him the best, but Croatia has an assembly line of talented midfielders.
He would have a better shot if he played/excelled at a different position.
@ Faux
You may be right.
But BVB Dortmund is probably the best training club in Germany.
At this age is when most Americans miss the next step in development.
It just so happens that we are producing more talented midfielders then ever.
Either way I root for the kid.
I caught the USMNT U17 game.
It may be a moot point, but I don’t think Christian Pulisic would displace his non-diaspora peers even if he wanted to.
He took tons of decent corner kicks and tried his ass off.
The US looked like the US. Relied on set pieces and direct play. Every player took too many touches on the ball and were tactically mediocre.
@ Bustina
Apologies for my misunderstanding over this Modric is a BUST thing.
That must have been someone else who said “Modric is a BUST at Real Madrid” … …. …. NOTTTTT!
How are on earth do you think Hrvati here are going to cosign your Byzantin duplicity?
We are born and bred to deal with that treachery.
ZDS
Squirm you worm.
I just saw Manchester CIty against Leicester. I think Kramaric did well and should have earned at least one penalty for his team. Of course, Leicester is a shit team but I really do think Kramaric could impress in a decent team. The coach subbed him out after 61 minutes when it was 1-0. The game ended up in a 2-0 victory for Manchester City. My opinion is that the coach shouldn’t have subbed him out, Kramaric was one of the better player for Leicester.

@Ziva Bustina-Right now,my erection is a gargantuan. To use one of your lines,”Its great theatre”watching you squirm .We know you said he was “Playing like a bust”,but fact is that you were being a smart arse and now everyone gives it to you.It was at a time were sensible people were saying that the guy is class, give him a little time,he will come good, and that he has.You stated that he was like a bust and that if he was truly world class,he wouldnt need time to adjust.YES YOU DID.You kept stating it to be dramatic and clever. You were not being reasonable, clever or correct.Suck it Bustina.
Exactly…..but, honestly, I don’t need any benefit of the doubt. I know what I wrote and what I said. I piggy-backed media reports in Spain calling Modric a bust. When those comments were made by the Madrid media, was he not playing poorly?
But, I sure love how some of you gets a big errection over my comments or perceived comments.
I’m going to defend ziva a bit on this one
Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt on Modric
After all he is a good catholic who always supports his fellow man especially Croats
Hmm let’s hope he is the real deal
Anyone watch dinamo games? Is he hype or what?
The next Luca Modric?
According to the English press:
Everton have been linked with a serious move for a 17 year old Croatian youngster currently playing his football for Dinamo Zagreb. Ante Coric is an attacking midfielder and only joined Dinamo Zagreb in 2013, having spent some time in the academy of Red Bull Salzburg. Despite being just 17 years of age, Coric has made more than a handful of appearances for the Dinamo Zagreb first team, which has obviously brought the youngster some attention.
On Monday Croatian newspaper Vecernji List have claims about Everton’s will to buy the player. They say that Everton scouts instructed by Roberto Martinez watched the player at a winter training camp in Spain this year and were impressed enough to have decided it’s time to make a move.
Martinez feels he can develop Coric into a star and Everton are set to offer at least €5m this spring according to the report. The Premier League club would like to get a deal wrapped up before the transfer window opens, to beat off interest which is growing elsewhere. Jurgen Klopp is said to be an admirer on behalf of Borussia Dortmund and the German club have also sent scouts to get a better look. Everton will have to fight off Dortmund interest to secure the transfer.
Coric is represented by his father and they have a good relationship with Dinamo Zagreb. Any move would have to please the Croatian club, and the Coric family have little interest in trying to force a cheap deal.
ziva commenting on this thread?! ha what a joke. next thing you know he’ll comment on a thread about halilovic and his repka call up
Hey man, never let logic and the ziva istina get in the way of a flawed argument.
Živa Bustina
I never called him abust. What I did do is mention the media and fans in Madrid were calling Modric a bust. I then asked was he a bust because at the time he sure was playing like a bust. If you go back and look at the way he played the first half of that club season, he did underperform. Now, I know there were reason as to why he was shitting the bed, but nonetheless he was shitting the bed at that time. Nobody was or is happier to see him succeed than me.
Before anyone here accuses me of being anti-Modric…….I would suggest you go look at what I wrote (since a lot of you appear to follow what I mention or dont mention) in the hours after we were eliminated by Spain at Euro 2012. I said he would excel in Spain. After bad play in the first few months, that now appears to be the case.
^ The nerve of Ziva posting in this thread!
I bet the RM fans regret ever calling him that.
Vrati se ljubavi moja …
It has been a long winter for many of us and we have endured it with out the joy that Luka “The Bust” Modric brings to us with his genius.
I have not watched RM play once since his injury.
For me there is only Real Modric.
He will round into form for El Classico and be ready for Norway.
@ Luka is a Bust
Never, ever bet against Hrvati.

modric or “bust” get what i did there…
