Luka Modrić scored the opening goal for Real Madrid Thursday in a 4-1 victory over Granada. Modrić got the ball in the box and ‘nutmegged’ the Granada keeper from an extremely tight angle. With the win, Real Madrid trail leaders Atletico by two points with only two matches remaining in the La Liga season.
What’s more important is that Modrić’s goal sets a new record for goals scored by active Croatian senior players in a 1-week span. (At least while I have been running CroatianSports for the past 13 years. Please correct me if I am wrong.)
There were three goals from Brekalo; and one from Budimir, Kramarić, and Rebić on the weekend. Budimir added two more on Tuesday. Rebić added a hat trick on Wednesday alongside goals from Brozović and Pašalić in Serie A action. Modrić’s goal on Thursday caps off 14 total goals from active Croatian internationals in a 7-day span. I don’t remember that much action…ever!
Apparently Stuttgarts coach has stated that the last few days had been stressful on Sosa
Is he stressed 😥 that he got caught out being Judas
Stuttgart’s coach was probably one of the German idiots who were complicit in trying to get him to switch too.
@Horvat
Lovren will be as good as the midfield pressure allows him to be. He’s athletic, fast, but his one weakness is that he’s a meathead, and that will always come to the fore if the pressure from midfield is not there.
You guys haven’t had really good CB’s since Bilic and Stimac.
Did you just call Lovren fast 😂😂
………………….Rebic…………………
Perisic……..Kramaric……….Brekalo
…………Brozovic…..Modric……….
Barisic….Caleta..Lovren….Vrsaljko
………………..Livakovic……………….
I think Kramaric is better behind the lone striker than Vlasic is at the moment. Bradaric may be a defensive liability at the moment. However, he might be a potent left winger off the bench.
“IF” Kovacic starts playing for us the way he does for Chelsea, here is another potential lineup:
……………….Kramaric……………….
Perisic……….Modric ………..Rebic
…………Brozovic…..Modric……….
Barisic….Caleta..Lovren….Vrsaljko
………………..Livakovic……………….
My mistake. I would use Kovacic next to Brozovic in the bottom lineup..
On paper, I think our midfield and offence are stronger now than they were in 2018.
My only concern is our defence. How will Vrsaljko/Juranovic do? Will Lovren have another solid tournament, or will we see costly mistakes again? Will Bradaric hold up as well as Strinic did?
This team has what it takes to take it all, if our defence doesn’t mess things up.
Most in form squad:
……………………………Budimir………………….
………………….Kramaric………………………….
Rebic……………………………………….Brekalo
…………………Brozo………Modric…………….
Judas……….Caleta……Vida…….Juranovic
……………………..Livakovic……………………..
Lovren, kovacic and vlasic are injured, vrsaljko hasn’t played a single minute for his club since the end of february. petkovic has a whopping 3 goals from open play in a farm league. perisic throws a tantrum every time he looks at kramaric. Vida has played almost 3000 mins this season. Tactically, dalic is an idiot. Modric is by far the best player, followed by kramaric, then rebic and brozovic
Can we focus on Borna and Halilovic please
Absolutely incredible form from our guys, wow! And only a month or so till Euros so let’s hope they keep it up and no injuries. BTW is Euro going to go ahead, with crowds at all? I’m still a little uncertain…
Modrić Schmodrić!
Let’s talk more about Borna Sosa!
Guessing you heard the piece about Biscan not calling him up for the U21 Euro?
Yea but Bišćan said he only did it because it would be a distraction to the team (due to the media coverage of Borna’s attempt to switch). He probably would have called him up otherwise.
Remember, Bišćan also bailed on the National Team himself back in 2003 and never came back. He played for us for two years, then walked away from the team during an international break during training.
I forgot the exact reason why he left, but I think it was about not being in the starting lineup as well (despite not playing regularly at club level at the time).
Luka Modric — 9: Once again leads Madrid to victory. Is there anything his midfielder can’t do? No. The answer is no. Great opener and worked to push Madrid forward all night playing the entire match. Finished with one shot, 90 per cent pass completion rate, three key passes, one dribble, two aerials won, three tackles.
T – minus one month
