Modrić played 87 minutes Tuesday night in the Champions League semifinal 1st leg. He received a 6.5 rating (FOTMOB) as most of his responsibilities were on the defensive end. Should he have done better with the KDB strike??
Luka Modrić returned from injury Saturday to play the last 15 minutes of Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Osasuna in the Copa del Rey Final. It is expected that Modrić will start for Real Madrid Tuesday (3PM ET) again Manchester City in the 1st Leg of the Champions League semifinal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
This will be Real Madrid’s final test of the season as all of their chips will be in the middle of the table against City. We already know that a Croatian will take part in the UCL Final as Inter (Brozović) and AC Milan (Rebić) will face off in the other semifinal. But will Real Madrid join one of them?
City have been on an absolute tear over the past two months. They not only took over the Premiership lead but have not lost a match since February 5th. City have also won 17 of their last 20 games in all competitions. With that said, you would have to think this is a must-win for Real Madrid on home soil.
Madrid have already mailed in their La Liga season; sitting 14 points behind champions-elect Barcelona. It’s Champions League or bust for the reigning European champions!
Modrić, Vini, Kroos, and Benzema will need to play a perfect tie against Man City to go through. But as we all know, if anyone can slay the giants, it’s this Real Madrid team, who came from behind to defeat PSG, Chelsea, and Man City last season on their way to the Final.
Matt Lebo has said on the CroatianSports podcast that Pep is a “choker” and will bottle this UCL opportunity for City once again. Do you agree?
Broz on the bench, WTF?
Brozovic is NOT a world-class player/.
a world-class player like Modric, even after being injured
He has his place back and subsequently being trusted -o
Brozovic just got an 8 rating at the end of the match and is being called the MOTM by sempreinter. Not only that they are calling him the brains of Inter Milan, I don’t think that is all for nothing.
I think people need to start paying attention to the fact that the guy is a defensive midfield I am getting tired of explaining this away all of the time.
Yep. Brozovic is a gem! Great player and he’s ours the most important thing.

Being rested for fucking Lubi’s mom sister and aunt
Makes sense that he would need a rest after that, and why Lubi is a hater, so Jure f., you seem like a trustworthy fellow.
Modric:

It’s disturbing watching Luka lose the ball multiple times in a game. For him, that used to be a rarity and happening more often in 2023 than ever before.
Nah. He does that all the time, but he makes up for it.
I remember in Euro2020 he coughed up the ball quite a bit, and that was three years ago.
Gvardiol does the same, and makes mistakes all the time…but what he brings to the table overall, more than makes up for it.
What more could Luka have done on the goal, grow another leg? He had his left side blocked and the shot could only go around him to the right. Courtois was slow to read this and it blew by him (taking nothing away from a deadly strike).
Confident in the second leg, but it could be a nailbiter.
90min.com: CM – Luka Modric – 8/10 – Another stunning performance from the 37-year-old.

managingmadrid.com: Luka Modric—6.5: Had to put in a major shift defensively tracking runners and trying to cut off passing lanes. He and Benzema struggled to communicate and cover the movement of Stones and Rodrigo, but improved in the second half.
This will be the year the UCL streak ends. Mark my words.
Risky call there, picking the tournament favorite on the day of the semifinals.
😉
“Mark my words” lol.
Ne budi glup
I’m fully behind Modric and Madrid, but this is too close to call. I really hope the “Champions League Madrid” show up.
Got a bad feeling it’s Manche$ter City’s year (has to happen sooner or later) and I very much hope I’m wrong. If they get past Real perhaps one of the Milans can stifle them in a one-off at a neutral site. Hala Madrid! Ajmo!
This is a very difficult one to call. Man City have been nothing but exceptional thin season.
I think the key to this victory, for Real Madrid, will only be present in their ability to shut down two key factors. One is Halland, he has been exceptional is currently at the top of the league with goals 35 or 36 currently in the Premier League. Lastly is De Bruyne, at the top of the other table with 16 assists. I think if they can shut these two player out they can win it, but they have to stop these two from playing their game.
