So what do you do if you’re Luka Modrić and you’ve just helped Real Madrid win a record 10th Champions League title? Naturally, you cut your beautiful, long locks.
That’s right, we’re all going to see a much different looking Luka Modrić at next month’s World Cup in Brazil. The Real Madrid midfielder held his own while stars Ronaldo and Gareth Bale had mediocre nights with the whole world watching.
Real Madrid were a shell of themselves last night in Lisbon during the Champions League final. And it looked as if Iker Casillas’ blunder in the 36th minute would hold up for a 1-0 Atletico Madrid victory. After 90 minutes, Real still had a goose egg on the scoresheet as Bale missed three golden chances and Ronaldo couldn’t break the Atletico defense. Multiple unsuccessful Angel di Maria corner kicks were crossed into the box to no avail and Real Madrid looked dead in the water.
Insert Luka Modrić. The Croatian stepped up to the corner flag and placed a perfect ball to the head of Sergio Ramos for the equalizing goal in injury time. In my opinion, he should have taken more corner kicks in the second half. The match went into the extra time, Real opened the flood gates with three more goals and the rest is history.
Now the question: can Modrić continue his fine form in Brazil alongside midfielders Ivan Rakitić and Mateo Kovačić? Croatian players have played phenomenally on individual levels this season, but do they have the fortitude to do damage at the World Cup? In three weeks we will know.
Modrić interview after the match
without ziva this site is nothing, love him or hate him
Lol.
Živa has become the Donald Sterling of Croatian Sports right now.
not*
Ziva sinking lower?
come on people of course he is note, just wait for the it was a joke prefaced with him being a good catholic living the Za Dom Spremni lifestyle something about circumstance and STDs or big macs and then rinse and repeat, We all know that nothing is out of bounds for him, some will condone it others will defend him and its business as usual.
Dont worry,I will stick around, but my monthly retainer is going up,ok.
Bobby will be ok too.He just feels sick at the moment.
@Ziva-Listen, about that contract I got you to sign for your soul recently, theres something about you that makes my skin crawl. So sorry, all bets are of as I have ripped up the contract.Frankly,I dont want you.I know you were desperate for me to get people off your back about all of your errors eg-Halilovic,Modric,the list goes on, but eeewwwww,I dont want you !
Let me be the first to clear the air. I am not Ziva Istina. I’m 99.999999% sure that Ante Kvartuc is not Ziva Istina.
As far as “drumming up business”, a business needs $$$$ to run for 6+ years. If we were a business, we would be closed a long time ago.
We are here for the croatian people, diaspora, and croatian fans. We are here to unite Croatians and croatian fans around the world. We are here to connect croatians and croatian fans around the world.
I can’t believe how croatians are so easily offended. A good croatian buddy of mine doesn’t want to hang out anymore over a stupid little incident. I just don’t get it.
Ziva says some interesting stuff and makes some stupid comments occasionally. I read his last comment and I wasn’t impressed.
@Bobby V,
Come on, what do you want me to do? Delete comments like this? Let me ask you this, are you here just for Ziva Istina or for others that play a huge part on the site?
Bobby, you’re better than that. You bring so much to the website.
What can I say?My son is not well.He feels fine with self justification ,but the signs are obvious. 🙁
To even say this for attention is something that most of us could not bring ourselves to do.Thats were a moral compass comes in,but Ziva will say that he has a certain style of humour. 🙁
You stay classy ziva
….because if it was Ziva, there is really no more reason to come to this site any longer.
Wow, what a turn-off. I’ll wait and see before removing the bookmark from this page.
I have to believe that really wasn’t Ziva – was it?
SICK MAN = Ziva !
Danny u wright ! But Still !!
Ziva,
I take it you haven’t had to go through the agonizing torment of losing a parent yet?
Fuck, that comment is crazy!
Ziva-you drunk tonight?
dont’ you guys know ziva just does this for either attention to himself or just get you guys going…. i think we established he takes it too far long ago
ziva could just be alter ego for one of the boys that started the site?? and just drumming up business
lol cico, im a hajduk fan myself buddy but move on… we have bigger fish to talk about these days
fucking kovac going to kill them all in training!
ok its not a death of family member but maybe they can rally around the flood stuff…
Tasteless. Classless.
90+ , NOT 85 Min. !! Bog !!!
Dude, I think that’s crossing the line man!
If im reading your question the way I think you meant it you are asking “who’s mom do I wish would die” so the players can rally?
Za Dom Spremni life?
Catholic?
This one crossed the line Ziva!
Friends,
I’ve been watching the Stanley Cup playoffs and noticed how good the NY Rangers have have played since the death of Martin St. Louis’ mother. It appears the team and he have rallied around the death.
If so and if a death can isspire a team to perform better than I ask you the following……….whose mother from the national team should die in the lead up to the World Cup so our boys can play better? Suggestions are appreciated.
@ nepoznat
will you have access to the u-21 game link?
@Buggamardovi – Are you looking for a particular player? I think Ziva has a few extra.
http://www.vecernji.hr/brazil-2014-sp/pranjic-se-uhvatio-za-preponu-i-napustio-trening-mandzin-zestok-start-na-lovrena-941314 they referred to him as our only left back 😀
Looks like Kovac is putting them through their paces
whats the status on pranjic and badelj? fuck i thought we were doing well with the health and all the sudden some pretty key injuries happening to our depth players
Hi everybody, does anybody here know where I can get a Croatia jersey for cheap?
@ jm
It’s not the same day! U21’s tomorrow, Mali Saturday.
Champions League Top 250 Players:
192 Darijo Srna Shakhtar
114 Mario Mandzukic Bayern Munich
2. Luka Modric, Real Madrid
Read vs Mali the lineup looks like Pletikosa-Srna Sifo Carli Pranjic/If healthy-Vukojevic Rakitic Perisic Sammir Olic Mandzukic.
Tommorow the under 21 play and all 7 A teamers are in the 11.
Zelenika-Vrsaljko Jedvaj Bubnjic Gorupec-Situm Kovacic Brozovic Pasalic Rebic Pjaca. is the lineup with Perica Radosevic off bench.
hahahaha…..funny!
who is standing up for Holiga? I am telling you guys not to give him the attention that you currently are giving him.
Sir, I would never shit on hercegovci!
Typical Ziva Istina morning…
Shitting on Hercegovci, standing up for Hoilga, and making jokes about war profiteering on Memorial Day.
Stay classy Ziva!
Pranjic and Badelj injured today
Plus, I think its doubtful Modric plays in the Mali game.
Haha fair enough Slavonac. But I dont think we are getting over on the man much lol.
@ croathrvat
i didn’t realize they u-21s would be playing the same day as the mali game. i worry about sending players that have a good chance of playing in the world cup to play in a u-21 game when there are so many questions about them that we need answers to?
can kovacic exist well with modric and rakitic?
can bubnjic play left back?
can vrsaljko fill in as a right winger/back?
is rebic healthy and can he give us something up front?
” I almost threw up at my desk at work. ”
funny, how many of us are on this site during company time?
I was just surfing to find one of those black or red polos and they are selling knockoffs online with the jugo star and croatia where the Grb would be. I almost threw up at my desk at work. It could be an accident but it doesnt look or feel like one to me.
Well what I mean to say regarding the Croatian Cup Final is that no matter how well Halilovic would play, Sammir was always going to get selected above him. I’m not delusional about Halilovic, I wouldn’t want him to play in any of the games, he’s nowhere near ready yet…but calling him up for the experience I would’ve supported. England did it with Walcott in 2006.
I guess they’re all sold out. I’ll try here http://webshop.ferivico.hr/dresovi-i-hlacice/hns/nike-nike-league-croatia-polo605335-060.html
Anybody else DYING to get one of these? I’m buying one today. http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/Products/Football-Polos-Nike-League-Croatia-Polo-Replica-Clothing-AnthraciteWhite-72675.aspx
@Ernest were not pushing rakitic back to the right side. Stimac tried it and it didn’t work.
Kovacic, Perisic, Rebic, Srna, and Vrsaljko are all better options at RM.
Croatian Cup isn’t a good litmus test?!
Do you know the type of quality that laces their boots up for that tournament?!? Teams like Jadran Porec, Lucko and Vinograder are no pushovers…
Plus do you know the tens of… well ten people (me included for the Cup Final this year) that tune in for the matches?!
If you can make it in the Croatian Cup, you can make it anywhere, momci.
I meant to say who was a better solution than Kranjcar outside of the original 18 Kovac already disclosed?
CroatHrvat-if you needed the Mali game to assume Kranjcar may or may not have made it I think you are over analyzing things a little…who was a better solution than him in Kovac’s top 18?
I wouldn’t use the Croatian Cup match as a litmus test if someone should or should not have received a call. Look at the entire body of work and mot just one game.
@ jm
Yeah, 7 of the 27 remaining will be involved in tomorrows qualifier against Ukraine for the U21’s. That leaves 20 players for the game against Mali. At least this way all 20 will receive minutes on Saturday but does that mean the youngsters will be judged on an U21 game?
Yeah, reports suggest that the final squad will be announced on Saturday evening after the Mali game.
I’m 100% behind Kovac, I like the guy and I hope he can bring the best out of the players but it’s the topic of announcing the squad which slightly frustrates me.
Kovac insisted on not holding the press conference until after the Croatian Cup Final implying everyone has a shot at getting into the squad right until the end of the season but his 30-man squad was already floating around the press days in advance. It would appear that no matter what anyone did in that Croatian Cup Final, the squad would’ve been the same regardless. The same approach now with the Mali game, but I get the impression that he knows his final 23 already, he has come out and said that Kranjcar would’ve been in the final squad but surely Kranjcar would’ve been a fringe player fighting for a spot in training and the Mali game?
I think Kovac is timing his announcements to look dignified and respectable appearing like everyone has a chance but in reality he is just doing it for show and the squads were, and will be, already decided.
if your’e looking for some action, apparently kovac is sending kovacic, rebic, vrsaljko, brozovic, and zelenika down to the u-21 team to play in the upcoming qualifier
I’ve been reading but don’t comment as much anymore because sometimes it’s not worth the energy but I’ll make my points.
Halilovic doesn’t deserve a call-up and isn’t going to get “20 minutes” where he can make something “magical” happen. He isn’t anywhere near ready to make his mark yet whether or not he went to Barca our midfield is something we have no need to take risks in with the skill we have there.
Corluka can play LB as speed has nothing to do with any of his abilities. He marked out Ronaldo in Champions League at RB when he played in Tottenham. He played years at RB and probably his best years were spent out wide he didn’t get to this level without having skills. For Man City he played in midfield in the “premier league” that plays sooooooooo fast by some of your standards. LB or RB he has the abilities to play in either. Defense is played as a team and with a lot of organization. Strnic will be missed but we have options to work with for different approaches in Corluka, Prajnic, or whoever the coach wants. Not world class but they have all made their marks and brought us success when given chances.
I don’t really care how you wish the Croatian team was “pure” or how Croatia is going to look in 30 years. This is the modern world and this is how it’s going to be so get used to it because wanting things that will not be is only going to be your own misery. If Eduardo scores I won’t think twice or wish it was someone else and I’m sure those players who grew up around him like Modric and Corluka couldn’t careless either. You’re entitled to think what you want and moap about whatever you want to moap about but it doesn’t take anything away from it for me. If Sammir is called up because he’s good enough and because we have nobody for Kranjcar I don’t care. I do only care about how he made it to the NT but I believe in Kovac and “his” staff.
I haven’t been on here in over a year. You guys need to get behind the team and quit moaping about things that cannot change. Get over yourselves and support the country and team. If you want to be conservative and wish things were like they were back in the day….it’s never going to be like that ever again.
Yeah Ivica I assume in that formation that actually Kova would be the SS and Rakitic would be dragged out right with Perisic out left. The suprise of a Srna/Vrsaljko Right side with either at RB and the other at RM intiruges me only because it allows us to fill the middle with modric and raketa deep and Kova at the top in SS…Not sure if thats even an option but worth thinking about i suppose.
I don’t know who asked the question earlier, but this coming Monday is the deadline when rosters for the World Cup must be submitted. I assume Kovac will have his ready on Sunday following the friendly against Mali the day before.
Can the “Suspension Joey” funds be used to purchase commercial airtime on HRT in the next few days to send a message about dropping Sammir from the roster. I think that would put that money to good use.
@lju……I wouldn’t say Holiga is getting maximum coverage. But, I get your point.
At the end of the day, if our fans behave there is nothing to complain about. Nothing that Holiga or his like are writing about now wiill have legs unless a certain portion of our fans decide to do something that only confirms what they are writing about.
Just because you read an article that you consider to be negative doesn’t mean the entire world is reading it.
I’m on vacation this week so won’t be posting as much, here is a Croatia team guide from Bleacher Report (hit next or right arrow to continue reading):
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2076380-croatia-world-cup-2014-team-guide-for-fifa-tournament
Mali is Sat 5/31 in Osijek
Australia is Friday 6/6 somewhere in Brasil
Iggy…you have a computer dude? is it that hard to look?
when is the mali game ? also are there any others and can someone post their dates ?
cheers
Ernest… in the 4-4-1-1 formation, I assume they would put Kovačić in that RM role with Rakitić playing the SS role. Which would mean that Vuki gets to play with Modrić in the middle.
Either that, or Vrsaljko makes a surprise appearance on that right side. I have no idea anymore.
Ernest,
It sucks that Lovren is losing to Schifo, but it’s comforting knowing that Kovač is actually assessing these players based on their performance in training with the National Team and not by their prior club performance. Still, I was hoping that Lovren would suddenly ‘get it’ and have a breakthrough.
As for all these formations and tactics…I’m just so tired.
I just want the World Cup to start already. So much analysis and speculation for these three games. Looking forward to the Mali friendly at least, to hold me down.
educate them all you want, did not help simunic at all, problem with Hooliga and his type in the media is they receive maximum coverage and anyone reading it will form their opinions (bias toward croatia), ever ending cycle against anyone who is Croatian and proud of it.
Is there going to be a fantasy league for the World Cup
because most people think history started in WW11…they take the short cut and immediately respond with the “Nazi” association and most Croatians have no idea how to answer to that. Croatia has no reason to feel shame for WW11…there were definitely atrocities I don’t agree with but Europe was in a circumstance I don’t think we’ll ever see again on this planet!
@ Slavonac
well said dude… i think a lot of folks just read a Wikipedia article or two and listen to what baba/dido have to say about the old days and they’re an expert all of a sudden. Not to many ‘Hrvati’ in my family unfortunately and as I got older, I took it upon myself to learn my people’s history and really understand how we got into the current state of affairs we’re in now.
Early indications from what I have read is that Schifo is winning the battle for the second CB spot over Lovren. If Lovren doesnt get to play at this WC in the form he has been, he wont be a happy camper. Even worse is if Kovac sticks him out there at left back where he looks like a lost puppy. I dont see Kovac going with 5 at the back like I previously suggested. Sounds a lot like it will be 4 4 1 1. With a SS and a CF. I just dont know how you find two outside midfielders for the Brazil game in that setup though. Perisic is one I suppose but with Pranjic at LB presumably and Olic in Madzos CF spot..who are we going to put at RM? I suppose you could put Raketa out there and play with Viki and Modric in the middle and Kova advanced at SS but I kinda like Rakitic and Modric in the middle with Rakitic in the Alonso Real Madrid Role. Our lack left sided players is baffling.
@ Mateo
cool t-shirts
Where is the BiH one that says “Bosandjeros” on the front with their grb in the background. I want to buy that one.
Iggy- then inform yourself, learn why they think there is something wrong with nationalists and then learn about Croatian history so you can inform them of why we refused communism…if you read a little it won’t be a difficult task to inform people…start before WW11…learn how Serbs murdered Stjepan Radic…and why they killed him….it starts to make sense when you understand the circumstances…
people that don’t know the history can say whatever they want, they are not informed and just repeat what they hear!
Also, wow.. Aus only drew 1-1 with a second string south african team.. i think the aussies are in for some bashings v spain and holland, lol
but nah, i do care what my friends think.. i dont want them thinking croats are a bunch of nazis.. it’s bullshit and holiga needs to stop sucking on that jugo cock
try to google anything related to nationalistic countries or most nationalistic countries…Croatia is never mentioned anywhere…we are losing the battle on Nationalism!
but the US IS a menacing bully, lol
@iggy……big deal. Others call the US a menacing bully in world politics while some say the US doesn’t do enough around the globe. My point……you will never please everyone.
Who cares what others think. Same shit with Cro. if someone thinks we are nationalistic, I say you tell them that they are correct. We are nationalistic and nothing is wrong with that. Nothing!!!
Who cares what Holiga has to say, what a columnist from Novi List or Vecernji List or Slobodna Dalmacija has to say. Read it, consume it and then form your own opinion.
or do something about it. Write a rebuttal to the site it was written on or have a reply in the comments sections. Now, please understand it wont have the same weight or audience of the original article, but those are things you can do if it disturbs you that much.
sweet there’s a black one.. i can piss serbs off even more than usual : P
http://www.etsy.com/shop/balkanthreads
Iggy-people can say whatever they want, look around at other nations…its no different!
Ziva:
my issue is this on holiga: that article i posted got back to me from non-croat sources who are then saying wow croatia is nationalistic and send it to me. Now, that is dogshit. It’s not that us croats are bothered by it but rather than non-croats have their opinion of croatia coloured by that fucking dogshit scumcunt
can someone refresh my memory…when does Kovac announce the 23 man roster?
true article…

That is another stumbling block. UEFA and the European leagues will be against that because it will distrurb two seasons. Either way, it is a fricken mess.
I wouldn’t be opposed if every WC was staged in Germany.
Isn’t the Qatar World Cup going to take place in the Winter?
Or is that not yet confirmed
Don’t worry. Qatar will have air conditioning in their stadiums. They’ll probably take it a step further and air condition the entire country.
All it will cost them is some oil money, and a few thousand Bangladeshi slaves.
Don’t worry. Qatar will have air conditioning in their stadiums. They’ll probably take it a step further and air condition the entire coun
I know Qatar paid some big heavyweights to serve as ambassadors on behalf of their bid (Zidane, Pep).
I know its 8 years away, but I am pretty certain there is no way in hell i will go to that world cup and deal with that heat.
Blatter was for the US getting it though, whereas Platini was one of the biggest supporters for Qatar.
Blatter for sure.
Platini I am Ok with (unless I am missing something that he has done), but Blatter I despise with passion.
You can argue Platini has helped out the little guy (clubs and country) by changing the qualification format for the Champions League and allowing smaller clubs like Dinamo to make it (you can also argue he watered it down doing this). Also, by increasing the size of the Euros, you can argue he has made it a bit easier for the sammler nations to comepete and have a chance. Again, I could be missing something on Platini, but I think blatter is a bigger bumb.
Aloowing the WC to be sold to Qatar is the leading example.
I’m more interested in getting rid of Blatter and Platini. Our guys may be corrupt, but still nowhere as bad as the bosses of these organizations.
There will be lawyers and there will be appeals.
Now only if they could find a way to get rid of the likes of Mamic, Puppet Suker, Sinovcic, etc..
Well here’s something you don’t see everyday, a Croat taking on the big dogs in court and … Winning.

Watching some tennis this morning. Daddy’s boy Tomic is playing. Predictably, he is not looking good. If only his dad would become more involved in his career 😉
@iggy………I’m not standing up for him. I’m just saying don’t read his garbage if you are so offended. Let me repeat. I don’t agree with his social spin on things, but it doesn’t bother me. Its one journalist giving his view. I read things all the time I don’t agree with. I think it gives me a sense of the opposing sides thinking (in this case Holiga’s thinking) and better prepares me to offer a differing response. Having a democratic country also means other people whose views differ with mine also have the right to express their opinion. I think it is some of you guys who are giving Holiga the bigger platform by complaining each time he writes an article with his social spin on it.
i know it’s not exactly the most croatian name in the world but my dad liked it so called me that u so and so : P
yeah my name’s ilija big deal u kinky weirdo !
ok ILIJA
ziva dude.. i can endure most of your postings but standing up for holiga.. i dunno about that one man
if i ever met holiga i think i would to give him “the crocop” to the head
i mean.. his name is aleksander.. doesnt that tell you everything u need to know about the scumbag??
fuck if we really got blown out 4-0 im not sure if the guys can recover from it… after all ziva does call them mental midgets if im not mistaken
would you guys handle being blown out by brazil in first game and still going through? i don’t think i could stomach a loss by more then a goal or two…
interesting how olic was confident now… i think i remember some time ago i think before the draw how olic was really wanting anyone except brazil
Brazil 4 Croatia 0
Croatia 2 Cameroon 1
Croatia 1 Mexico 1
Come on, we all know that can’t be me. Mama Istina raised a boy who is and was against anything yugo or Serbian.
I’ll give you a sneak behind the curtain shortly
This is in fact Dido Zvezdan Istina, the lads paternal grandfather, whom he looks up to greatly. Now that I am the head of the household,we try not to acknowledge him so much.I still need to show Ziva compassion, lets give him a break for today. His pride is talking at the moment.Let him be.Let the rest of the day be his “Za Ziva spremni day”
@Ante(ZsD) can you confirm that this is Ziva at the football? http://rdbg.tuxic.nl/euscreen-ojs/public/journals/1/img/issue3/12/figure6.jpg
😀
Another morning and another round of attacks. No worries my friends. I realize there is not much to discuss in the leadup to the World Cup so we are required to go this route.
As you move around this morning, ask yourself if you are living a “za dom…..spremni” lifestyle. And if not, why not?
Watch out Dalmo Ante-The animal is wounded and is bringing out the “Bjezigrad”comments.Yes,of course ,the only time he really hurts is when he loses money gambling.Explains much!
Ok,joke time,I know its old,but-
-Why did Ziva cross the road?
-Because the Cetniks and Udba agents on the other side wanted to roast him a lamb on the spit for his good services!
-Why did Ziva cross back again?
-Because he shitted off the chickens and they chased him away!

Ziva?
Bjezigrad?
Speaking of komedija………..joke time.
In the aftermath of the floods, someone asked if Hercegovina was hit by any of the floods. The answer was no……why????because even God couldn’t wipe of that stench in the land of the rocks with a natural disaster………. Make sure you tip your waiters on the way out.
@Dalmo Ante……ajde neka .jel bolje? Nike lako tipkati na iPad. Pa mene nista boli, jedino kad izgubim na kladionice. Onda boli, brate to boli.
I don’t think anyone in beneath me. Don’t know what your issues are, but it’s cool. Maybe you are from zadar and got but hurt about my Bjezigrad comments. Who knows????
Back to the Holiga article…..I don’t think it harms croatia’s reputation anymore than a positive profile about the Adriatic does in a travel magazine. I keep heard all this stuff about how we shouldn’t read his articles or someone saying they won’t read it…..but, every time he writes something we have people reading it and posting it. Which is fine. Nothing wrong in reading something you don’t like or don’t think is accurate. 99.9% of this world won’t read it, so don’t worry about it.
@Ivica-Very true about Holiga.
@Dalmo Ante-Yes,its cheap and immature.Even I go to the effort of putting a big Z for Ziva.
You are doing a bang up job of keeping the pressure on Ziva,I will leave you to carry on the good fight for the good folk of the diaspora.I feel you deserve the title of “Tata Dalmo Ante” 🙂
Holiga isnt srbijan he is a pravoslavni Hrvat which is worse.
Polako Ante moj, nemoj zamjerit buddy!
@ Ziva Istina, Yeah yeah same old from you, but rooting against Croatia is being against Croatia, paint it however you want. I know what i say stings you im calling you out for what you are, even the fact that you write dalmo ante instead of Dalmo Ante is a sign, you think im beneath you or something, ali ocito je da sto ja pisem tebe pecne, u boducnost pise ti Dalmo Ante ako imas i malo kulture jer vidim da druga imena uspijes napisati kako triba cak is Suker pa mozes i moje, i neodgojen moze bar toliko postivanja imate prema drugih. Da te ne boli ono sto ja imam reci nebi se ponasa tako.
Dalmo- lets just hope we do well this World Cup so we can all feel proud!
Hooliga is not croatian and does more harm to our image than good.
I think it just bothers people that Holiga’s articles actually give Croatia a lot of exposure to Western sports sites like Four Four Two and Bleacher Report…yet Holiga regularly uses this platform to put us in a negative light.
When he is just analyzing the game, his articles are very good. He educates readers about Croatian footballers and popularizes our players to the average English-speaking reader, and Croatia’s footballing image benefits from it.
What’s terrible is that, on a regular basis, he keeps pushing the tired, old, drawn-out agenda of his, where he tries to associate Croatian fans with ‘neo-Nazism’. I’ve been to tons of international Croatia games, and I’ve never seen any Nazi paraphernalia.
Because he is ‘Croatian’, his words hold more weight to your average ignorant reader who doesn’t know the Croatian football scene as well as we (or Holiga) do. So, he is creating the false assumption that chants like ‘U boj’ and ‘Za Dom’ are somehow Nazi, even though many would argue they are not.
He has never ONCE mentioned the other side of the story and the debatable status of these chants, which further proves he has an agenda. Whenever a chant goes off during a game, he is always the first to ‘tweet’ something along the lines of the fans being ‘Neo Nazi’ and goes well out of his way to ignore anyone who dare ask him to explain in detail why he thinks this.
It’s a shame because very few national teams have the opportunity to have a sports columnist represent them in Western sports websites, yet here we are with this guy who COULD do a great job with his solid analysis…yet always disappoints us with these awful, slap-in-the-face, one-sided articles that taint our image.
I found this funny.
The Cameroon players are threatening to strike if their bonuses are not increased and met for the World Cup. This appears to always take place with African sides prior to the World Cup. But, what got me laughing were the comments from former Cameroon player Roger Milla.
Outside of the first part of the comment about the players not being properly prepared, I find the remainder of the comments could be said about our savez. Idiots in leadership positions who sold tickets to ticketing agency (thanks Puppet Suker) instead of going directly to our fans and brining their wives/GFs or mistresses to Brazil.
What behavior???? Don’t mistakes jokes -some bad ones, I admit – for being anti hrvat.
@dalmo ante….Jeli? Who am I actually shitting on????? How can I – someone who lives the “za dom….spremni” lifestyle to its fullest – be a hrvat-hater. Quite the opposite.
To the others……
I don’t agree with Holiga’s social stances. His soccer writing is ok and he is plugged in to the scene in cro, but again I don’t care or agree with his social stances. But, I have no issues with his work being picked up. I don’t mind an opposing view and unfortunately there is a vocal minority of people like him in cro. I don’t like the social stances of media outlets like the NY Times or other liberal agendas, but I still read them to see what the other side is saying or thinking. I am lean to the right and prefer to read and watch the Wall Street Journal, Fox News, etc. I know for some they don’t agree with them either, but they still are viewed and consumed. Nothing wrong with reading a differing point of view. Also, with regards to his comments about machine gun Thompson. He is not lying, he did sing a tune about Serbs being butchered. Fuck it, I agree with the tune and was there when he sang it. I find it funny when machine gun Thompson denies singing it.
By the way, Holiga’s is doing his job and draws a reaction from you guys and others. If he wasn’t, he would be getting the reaction. It’s all about the webpage views and clicks.
Slavonac from Canada, indeed he will as he always had. We will have to agree to disagree on this old school business, because i never met a cisti Hrvat who behaves in the manner the Ziva does, i know many that are critical of many things as i am too, but Ziva dumps on everything to create discord like agents of a bygone era. He only has bad things to say whether they are true or false.
I dont like having to repeat things but a classic example was when he decided to bad mouth Lambasa and Coce and yet Titos widow died at around the same time and not a peep about it, i guess he was in mourning. All he says is prefaced with a statement of Za Dom Spremni Lifestyle and being a Hrvat but it doesn’t excuse his behaviour
Slavonac from Canada are you Ziva’s bulldog?
I love Dudu, he loves Croatia for sure….Croatia has given him everything he has today….if he is on the field, he will give his heart and soul for us, I’m sure he will!
Old school…they mean well, they have good intentions but are very set in their ways! Many people like Ziva and are generally older.
@ Soul Champ, if its a bad look then then it is always a bad look, something like that makes it seem like we are embarrassed to have Dudu on our roster which is not at all true, i highly doubt he would shirk the contest. I am not saying that he starts as his days as a starter are over but if he comes in and has a chance to nail a goal he wont back down he will slot it. Thats up to the coach and if he feels Jelavic or Rebic are more likely to get us a result then i am all for that, but if its Dudu and he gets us a result it wont sour the win for me
old school? i dont understand how shitting on Croatians and all things Croatian makes him old school, i know many many from the “old school” who have nothing but love for croatia and they call out those who need calling out within Cro politics and football and whatever it be, but they dont spend their waking hours picking apart everything that is croatian just so they can take a dump on it. Never heard any of them root against Croatia not even if they did hate the coach, i guess we all have different views but he makes the conscious choice to do it everyday
@ Dalmo
Call me a ludi Dalmatinac but…
Eduardo against Brazil in Brazil is not a good look for us.
I guess if we are short on the bench maybe 10-20 minutes in the second half. But absolutely not during the hymna to start the match.
I like Eduardo. I feel we are square with him. He got us into euro 2008 and he got a real contract in Arsenal.
If he were from any other country then Brazil, nema veze, but he is Brazilian.
God bless him that he has prospered by embracing Croatian culture. Also that he has come back from that horrific leg injury.
He soul is for samba and this will enter his body on the pitch. This is a positive for us against everyone other than Brazil.
When I saw Ramos head in yet another Luka corner he embodied the heart and soul of Real Madrid. That was pure one pointed intention. We need this level of intentionality from all 11 players who start the match against Brazil to commence the 2014 World Cup.
Holiga is just a jugovic who wishes like much of the world that “velika srbija” was alive and well and his agenda plays into the hands of all these other flogs who write bullshit nothing articles about Croatia. Something that others paint as national pride and patriotism is always painted as extreme nationalism when it comes to croats. Well they can all GAGF because here we are.
@ Slavonac from Canada
So being a retrograde Yugoslaven is old school.
I never question Ziva’s Croatianess…he’s old school like my dad was…
If Kovac had any balls he would kick both Samir and Pranjic out of the team. Although in Samir’s defense he speaks better Croatian than 99% of you big Croatians!
Holiga typical jugo scum. He has his agenda.
Dudu has been in Cro a long time and given his all and bagged many a goal and loves the country and is much much loved, I honestly don’t have any issue with Dudu getting minutes against Brazil.
@ Ziva I think we all question your being croatian and here you are kicking up a srink over these players meanwhile constantly shitting on anything or anyone that is Croatian, sounds to me like you’re a selective Hrvat, manje vise mi svi znamo ko I sto si ti 😀
I’m going to make it an effort to wipe my ass with every Holiga article ever written.
@ Kovač
Please take all the young studs from you u21 squad and spare us the non-Hrvati !
@ Svima
Are we eating retard palačinke ?
Why would we go to battle against Brazil in Brazil with NON-Hrvati ?
U boj u boj u boj …
All that Samba smiling is a front.
Jogo bonito … Moj kurac !
They are coming to attack naša zemlja. Kovač understands this and will need to have us spremni, June 12th.
Molim vas, samo Hrvati za ovaj utakmica.
You can play whomever you want against Cameroon and Mexico. But Brazil is a different occasion.
Vatreni … Uvijek vjerni .
cameroon beats macedonia 2-0
its quite ridiculous how much racism there is in some countries, especially northern Italy and yet Croatians are singled out but the skin heads in Genoa, Torino and other northern cities have openly saluted during games, call black players atrocious names and have even plotted and shit kicked…knifed several English fans when Lazio hosted Tottenham….
That Slate article is a blatant smear. So Croats cannot be nationalistic, but other countries’ fans can? What hypocrisy!
Anybody in America sick of hearing about Landon Donovan.
I don’t agree with Klinnsman’s decision, but I also didn’t agree when Ante Razov was forced out right around the same time Landon Donovan came in.
what an absolute load of fucking garbage i just read
and yeh holiga again
http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_spot/2014/05/26/croatia_2014_world_cup_overt_nationalism_is_out_of_fashion_in_international.html
Kovac is not under Mamic’s thumb, thats crap!
Jelavić will go instead of Pašalić (even though it would be nice to see Pašalić on the roster).
I would be surprised to see Sammir over Brozović. If that happens, you know Živa will love it as he would feel it solidifies his claim of Kovač being under Mamić’s thumb and he’d use this to make up for his Halilović gaffe.
😉
@ Imocan the Gks are right the 8 backs are right
its the Mid that i think sub Sammir in their and Jelavic will go to Brazil.
23 man squad (MY OPINION)
GK: Pletikosa, Subasic, Zelenika (3)
DEF: Srna, Corluka, Pranjic, Lovren, Shildenfeld, Vrsaljko, Bubnjic, Vida. (8)
MID: Modric, Rakitic, Perisic, Kovacic, Vukojevic, Badelj, Brozovic, Pasalic (8)
ATT: Mandzukic, Olic, Eduardo, Rebic (4)
@ Ivica from what my contact told me Sammir is going brazil Just found out and either Vukojevic Mocinic Brozovic Badelj will fight for spots but Sammir is going unless Pasalic or Brozovic out play him in traing it looks like Filho is going to be the nuber 19 at the copacabana!
I’d be surprised if Vukojević didn’t make the cut. I don’t like him, but he is our only “destroyer” type DM… Unless Močinić can play that role (but I’ve never see the kid play so I have no idea).
I think Brozovic is going to Brazil and so is badelj but Vukojevic might not. as for Sammir rather Mocinic or Pasalic.
The 23 looks like
3 keepers
Srna Carli Lovren Sifo Vida Bubnjic Vrsaljko Pranjic.8
Modric Raketa Kovacic Brozovic Badelj Vukojevic/Mocinic6
Mandzo Ola Dudu Sveti Ante Jelavic Perisic.6
Uskok- who wants to live in Nigeria? heck, half the players don’t even know their real age!
definitely would like the Croatian team to remain ethnically croatian… squads being homogeneous is what makes the world cup so interesting, if the Nigerian team was filled with Germans than you wouldn’t actually be seeing the best Nigerians and that would dilute the international feel of the world cup
Italy has never been a country afraid to win at all cost…
Sorry, Italy could potentially have 2 Brazilians, an argentine and an American in their squad
LOL
Ivica, just ask your Italo buddy if they will be starting the Brazilian that plays for them ; p
They always seem to have a South American or two playing for them.
Even England have used Hargreaves and will use Zaha so it’s not as if they never do it either. It’s just a reality of the modern game, for better or worse depending on how you look at it.
There is no right answer to any of this. From a legal perspective I am wrong. It is just one of those things that I don’t like but can’t do anything about. I’ll learn to accept it.
Ivica- you make no sense…Balotelli isn’t Italian…he was adopted by Italians…whats the difference in 15 years (like Eduardo)? what about France, England, Germany…they have tons of players that are not “true blood”…where do you draw the line?
Luis Monti, Enrique Guaita and Raimundo Orsiwho played for Argentina in the 1930 final and then played for Italy in ’34 when they won!
Just post highlights of that U21 match when we beat top seed Switzerland in Lugano.
That’ll win people over.
We need to start a Brozovic fan page on Facebook just so he can make the repka over Sammir.
Re: Sammir
Regardless of him being Brazilian, this guy doesn’t deserve to be on our roster.
He’s played poorly on the repka, and has played garbage minutes in like 6 games this year for Getafe.
Both Badelj and Brozović are better than him. Don’t let Sammir playing on a La Liga roster fool you. I’m sure if you offered up Brozović on a free transfer instead, they would toss Sammir aside and jump on that deal instead.
Brozović has played amazingly well for the U21 squad under Kovač. Kovač will know how to utilize him. I’d be surprised if Sammir makes the team over Brozović.
“shit, why him”
I definitely won’t say that! he’s always had his hand on his heart for us and I believe he’s adopted Croatia as much as Croatia has adopted him!
Sammir is another story, he’s never embraced Croatia and was one of Mamic’s opportunities for money and nothing else…never once showed he loves Croatia, never adapted to Croatian lifestyle and always acted like he came from a jungle…a real self centred douche! thats the sad part here…Kovac has him on his list of players he may have to choose from…that sucks!
I agree with Živa re: Dudu
He is not born nor raised in Cro. Nor was he eligible to play for us via his parentage.
This has nothing to do with race. I just don’t want our team to be filled with players who acquired citizenship via their playing careers.
When you fill your roster with players that are from other countries, you lose credibility and respect.
I’ve already been hearing it from some Italian buddies of mine, asking me if we’ll be starting that Brazilian guy. Now if it was a racial thing, I could turn it around and call them out on Balotelli, but Balotelli is born and raised in Italy and has every right to play.
This is why I like England’s Home Nations rules. Although they are not the best team, they will never lose credibility as an English team.
@slavonac…..agreed, very tough topic. I realize the world is changing. Some things I agree with, others not so much. I have accepted it, I just don’t like it. I’ll be honest, if da silva scores down in Brazil, I will celebrate as much as anyone, but there will also be a feeling of “shit, why him”.
Kranjcar set to miss the world cup with a hamstring injury in QPR’s 1-0 over Derby in the promotion playoff. Tough loss for the team
sammir equals douche bag simple as that he doesn’t belong but since we are losing depth it might have to happen… i don’t want to have to explain the sammir situation to non soccer fans ugh
could you imagine sammir plays that opening game and some how scores.. wtf would happen, people would say we can only beat brazil with a brazillian… ugh thats a bad dream right there
this topic is very tough Ziva…I completely understand you but the world is changing and we have to make a decision on whether we stay 100% white Croatian or do what the rest of the world is doing…and then you have an even more complex question….how Croatian is Croatian enough to satisfy you or many like you?
jebi ga just call him a cigan and it matter is done
dudu is the man… maybe croatia wasn’t his first choice to play for at the time but its much like us that are in north america, you know given the chance you would kill to play for anything croatian but doesn’t mean you wouldn’t give it all to play for the states, canada, australia, where ever you are in the world’
i agree i woudl rather have 100 percent cro players that die for the checkers but lets face it id rather have dudu then a guy like serticH whose looks could pass for cro
Nothing to do with the person. no issue with him as a person, my issue is that he not born in cro or born to cro parents. Thick-headedness on my part. Same reason i dont like seeing the basketball team use naturalized american crnci.
In 20, 30 years from now we will see half our roster made up of “non-hrvati”. I just wish it wasnt so.
“Still, I wish he wasn’t on the roster”
what is it about Eduardo that you don’t want to see him on the roster?
in my opinion, he’s always demonstrated himself as a kind and passionate person…he loves Croatia and has married a Croatian woman…I can’t ever recall when and if he ever disrespected Croatia.
He is moreno…mixed…is that why? do you think we have no place in Croatia for mixed people? a half black guy that doesn’t look like your average Hrvat…what is it?
I agree about Da Silva. By all accounts a really good guy. And I back him 10000% in his court fight with Mamic. Still, I wish he wasn’t on the roster, but he is still easier to root for than the drunk one.
Ziva- that’s true, although I really don’t feel the way you do for Dudu…I like the guy and think he loves Croatia…if Sammir makes the team, its most likely because nobody challenged him for the position and Kovac was forced into selecting him. To be quite honest, I wouldn’t have even called him to the 30 man roster but since Kovac did, I think he has to be looking at him as an option right now. Sammir is not interested in Croatia where I truly believe Eduardo loves Croatia…big difference in the two players…ones a great guy, the other a douche!
It just baffles me that Sammir has a real chance of making this team. There are countless of examples of his unprofessional behavior. He doesn’t represent Hrvatska and what Hrvatska is all about. If the shoe was on the other foot and the serbs had two brazilians on their roster we would be laughing at them for having to bring in outsiders. I feel the same way with Cro. I really hope Sammir and Da Silva both get hurt so we dont have to use them.
Indeed Sammir ne zivi na sportski nacin, he wasn’t a player who prepared diligently for playing at an hnl level let alone an elite level
Dalmo Ante-make no mistake buddy, I dislike Sammir…period! His attitude as a soccer player with Dinamo was not professional but he was a strong player in some respects…its imperative that if he is somehow selected, Kovac gets him to put his feet on the ground and stay humble, makes him realize this may be an opportunity to show he is a team player and not an individual…
Adame- Halilovic is not there, no sense in talking about him now!
Faux Cro- he has never impressed me either but I never watch Cro league…in the few opportunities I have seen Sammir, he does have some abilities…I just haven’t seen enough to assess his abilities…with all this said, he plays in Spain…in La Liga…that’s an accomplishment!
@ Adame this is true but he isnt even 18 and wasnt killing it in the HNL he is definitely a prospect for the future and i would expect him to be integrated into the team for the upcoming qualifying campaign. If it is still an issue of him choosing Bosna over Hrvatska then we don’t need him, but i would suspect that Niko has had a quiet word with him and told him that he is part of the plans beyond this campaign.
With Strinic out, Corluka has to play left back.
If Pranjic is on the field it has to be as a left mid.
I can’t see any compelling reason to select Sammir.
He has never even remotely impressed me.
If he was good he would have been sold from Dinamo before Badelj and Kovacic.
To clarify i wont be cheering any less if he does play, i cheer for my country and not for individual players, one man never made a team, there are some that will root against whether Sammir is there or not.
I’d rather see halilovic than sammir
@ Slavonac from Canada i agree its very likely he has to take Sammir and if he does i wont hold it against him, i have watched Sammir and there is no doubt he has some talent and can throw something into the mix, but i also recall him saying he would never play for Croatia which was a good attitude for him to have, because we didnt need him. He changed his mind in the hopes that it would help his career and this is why he shouldnt be there, I dont want players in my national team who are there purely for what personal gain they can get. I want people playing who love the country like i love it and at the end of the day the team represents us all.
Say he gets into the 23 and gets minutes against Brazil his homeland and lets say he scores the winning goal and celebrates with much gusto, how would we all feel? His love of the beloved Kockice remains to be seen, for him they seem like a means to an end, if he wins us a game do we just see it as a means to an end also?
Me i want to see player who will bleed for the checkers, but as you said a coach is judged by the results he gets and if Sammir is more capable of helping him achieve them then he will use him.
Yes, we were on the same page about Pranjic and his qualities vs flaws….this is a little different though.
Kovac may have absolutely no choice but to take Sammir, have you though of that? How many players are left to choose from? Kovac now has to make a decision with what he has…guys that are a little more versatile vs guys that have specific strengths…at this point you need fillers and someone that can do his assignment!
Sammir is very strong, physically superior to a few other guys, he may be utilized to cover a huge portion of area, play simple and physical…something Kovac might not see in another player….I wouldn’t say you have “faith” in Kovac and hope that he overlooks Sammir…he has a responsibility to get results with the players the savez has…his job is not to choose based on moral decisions….its about results…period!
I am opposed to Sammir, I can’t stand the guy at all….ZERO in my books….but if I had 13-15 players and needed to have insurance for the ultimate goal of a “result” and I had to choose from someone that could give me 30 minutes of physical play and possibly create chances because of his abilities being better than other options I have…I would do what I have to and after the tournament I’d look for other solutions!
these are those moments where a coach can either be forgiven for his “right” decision or “crucified” for allowing his “personal” opinion interfere with what is best to get the “result”!
homepage or homage?
@ Slavonac from Canada well said again, i too dont mind Pranjic adding to our depth in midfield, but i cant forgive his role in us missing out on the last world cup, just as Bilic is tainted for his poor tactics and then giving himself a 5/5 on the way out. Sammir as i stated before didn’t even warrant a place in the 30 especially given the past history and the situation is made worse by the fact that Pranjic wasnt so much bothered by Sammir but rather just wanted to save face and in doing so created unneeded controversy. Im sure many players have personal feelings about such situations but for the sake of the team they look past it, something Pranjic couldnt do purely to make himself look like he stood for something and wasnt dropped for his ineptitude.
Ok boys….time to go walk in a Memorial Day parade with a client of mine (defense contractor). While America pays homepage to those who died in the military, I salute the defense contractors and other war profiteers who keep me happy
@ Slavonac from Canada
Damn straight. He’s the first player I would axe if I were the coach. Any player that talks out of school in such a manner would be permanently banished. Also in addition he adds nothing to the team and only detracts from the squad.
I agree with all that, but that is where I have faith in Kovac . While the unknown is his tactical ability to manage a team, I think he knows the other intangibles of a team environment and what makes it work and what can kill it because he played with all these guys or at least a good portion of them.
Listen, I am not going defend that Pranjic should start, I do think he has a place on the roster. I am worried as he’ll with him at LB. I made that point all last week in the discussions we had. His speed is meaningless if you don’t know how to defend and be positioned properly.
Ziva-you like Pranjic for his offensive abilities and are not impressed by his lack of defensive flaws…what about the fact that he was a distraction in the dressing room? If you think him vocally making claims that he won’t play because of Sammir is a smart move I think you need to re-evaluate that situation! Players play, coaches coach….since when is it smart to make your opinions public and divide a team? If far more credible player’s like Modric, Olic, Corluka, Pletikosa…can keep their personal feelings to themselve’s why would you think Pranjic’s stupid comments to the media are a good thing? I don’t like Sammir…in fact I can’t stand the guy but in no way would I ever publicly create any animosity and controversy in my team’s dressing room…this is partly why teams like Holland and England are fucked…they openly hate each other…and when a guy like Nasri gets cut from the team he acts surprised….they are players…not selectors…I think Pranjic could very easily screw up the changing room if he says 1 word about another player and if I was the coach, I’d rather get rid of him and unite my team than have the possibility of players being divided in the change room.
don’t get me wrong, I also like Pranjic…but he’s replaceable!
@ Ziva Istina
Make more jokes about Kranjcar. But at least Kranjcar is not responsible for us not making it to 2010 World Cup, unlike your bossom buddy Pranjic.
The only downside to Kranjčar missing the World Cup, is that it increases Sammir’s chances of making the final roster.
@dalmo ante……I am a fan of Kranjcar, I wanted him at the World Cup. I value depth.
It’s not a win win for the Brazilian fast food industry.
But, you know who it could be a win win for…….Ivanisevic’s wife (or is it ex-wife now). Seems Niko planted his corner flag in that direction.
@ Slavonac from Canada, well said, the guy did his fair share for us and would have been a handy player coming off the bench, he has the ability to turn a match even with limited opportunity. Im sure Ziva will come in with some joke about big macs and rinse and repeat
Oh, it’s a loss. No doubt. We have lost two players in our first 16 or so. Strinic and Kranjcar would have received minutes. Anytime you lose depth it will hurt. Tough to imagine we won’t have players with card or injuries if we are able to get into the knockout stages.
Prior to the weekend, I was getting pretty worried about the potential of Modrić being injured.
Instead, it was Kranjčar that got injured.
Can somebody say “WIN WIN”? 😉
@ Ziva Istina
The repka needs Pranjic in any capacity like a bullet to the head!
cheeseburger jokes aside, Kranjcar’s injury is definitely a bad thing for this team. I really don’t care what anyone says, Kranjcar is a great sub and would be for almost any team! I bet there isn’t a single player on the Croatian team that can shoot from distance like his, switch the play and even take the “fake left go right” opportunities like he can and then shoot…he may be slower and somewhat a defensive liability but make no mistake, his offensive talent is better than any player we have in the position he plays…this really sucks!
What was asked of him? the dud killed us a LB he cant defend pure and simple, i blame Bilic for persisting with him and i blame him for not even attempting to learn the caper, i watched bayern matches where olic ran the length of the field to cover for him because he was in the box trying to get a goal instead for covering his area. You pride yourself on your keeping it real and calling things for what they are, seems you have homer glasses on when it come to Pranjic.
No, not al the time at LB, but a fan of the way he played in 08 and willing to do what was asked of him after that.
In an ideal situation Pranja is a guy who comes off the bench and a spot starter for the repka. We know his flaws, easy to see he can’t defend, but personally I like the dude. Easy guy to root for.
@Ziva wow were you a fan of his brilliant play at LB?:D
@Soul Champ im not arguing that Pranjic wont add some midfield depth, but his reason for “retiring” from international duties was the call up of Sammir. You have it wrong my friend, after he apologised to Bilic he featured in 2 matches at the euros and Stimac gave him the swiss friendly and then showed him the door and rather than take getting dropped for what it is he retired under the guise of not being able to play in a team with Sammir, just an attempt to save face. This was lauded here by some and im just wondering how they will feel about Pranjic the “hero” when he accepts the jersey alongside Sammir.
Of course it may happen that he goes public and says “i love the opportunity to play for my country but i said i cant play with Sammir so if he is in im not its not my vision of a croatian squad” this wont happen
@ Dalmo Ante
This is how I always envisioned the mythical Ziva to look. 😀
I’ve always been a Pranja fan.
I said Modric was playing bad and at the time I said It might be a mistake. Few months before that I was saying Modric was made for Real. Since you live to research what I write (can’t blame you), go look at what I wrote in July 2012. So, i was right, then I was wrong for a brief period and now I am right again. Ahh, the life of a pundit.
And based on what makes you think Halilovic could warrant time on this team. He was pedestrian in the HNL this year and couldn’t put together two solid games. His time will come but he was and is not ready now.
@ živa
I have been called crazy before for by you for seeing potentialities that transcend the basement goggles.
By the way you did say that it was a MISTAKE for Luka to move to Madrid.
Don’t make Nepoznat use his google search skills to find it.
You throw Halilovic on the wing for 10-20 minutes and he will make some magic happen.
@ Dalmo
Pranjic is now starting and is given full respect by Kovač.
Back then Štimac was taking a crap on Pranjić after Bilić banishes him. That Sammir was collateral transferred beef.
Pranjić is more relevant in this moment then ever in his career on the repka. Easy to forgive for him when everything is spinning his way.
My next CSR exclusive will feature the penis sizes for all of the team members as per the request of Ziva Istina.
I don’t think I ever commented about that situation. Players say all sorts is shit when they lose a spot or are removed from the roster.
I’m sure it’s not an easy locker room, but I don’t know that for sure. Will know more when in Brazil.
Ziva at the football 😀
http://rdbg.tuxic.nl/euscreen-ojs/public/journals/1/img/issue3/12/figure6.jpg
now to serious business, i have asked before and it seems its a touchy subject here. Many of you here lauded Pranjic for his stance on the Sammir issue, some even called him a hero of sorts and now it looks as if they could very well both be part of the 23. Now if both are in the final squad and Pranjic accepts it will all of you openly admit that you were wrong when you said he stood up to Stimac?
Obviously i know Ziva wont, he will invoke something about circumstances of some sort, but Ziva you did laud him. I always pegged it as him cracking the shits at being shown the door (which i maintain was Stimac’s only good move) where are the rest of you at with this situation if it plays out?
Props to Kovac putting his foot down with regards to managers and agents allowed near the team’ straining camp. That wasn’t always the case with previous coaches.
You are crazy to think Halilovic would have given us 20 minutes. He couldn’t give dinamo 20 minutes, no chance he was going to get time if he was on the roster. If not for the Barca sale, his spot would have been a taken spot on the repka.
Kranjcar not going is also a big loss to the fast food industry in Brazil. Just imagine the grease he could have eaten in the two-plus weeks down there or more he would have been in Brazil. But, there are a good number of American hrvati going down, so they will make up for it, but Kranjcar was a legend when it came to eating.
Halilovic would have given us a good 20 minutes.
Eduardo is a lock now.
Sammir may have a chance.
Kranjčar would have been too slow.
Vida will have to play a part now as well.
Vrsajlko will start .
At it begins…
Not true……I’m not spending all this money on airfare, tickets and accommodations to Brazil to root against the repka. I just find it hard to cheer on non-hrvati. Listen, I will celebrate every goal as its normal when you get caught up in the emotion, but it won’t be the same cheering on a goal by a Brazilian hrvat as opposed to an actual hrvat.
Ziva don’t lie, even if Suker and Mamic, Eduardo and Sammir were out of the equation you’d still probably find a reason to root against Croatia.
Kranjcar is out of the WC
Strinic, Kranjcar and Ilicevic all dropped from the squad due to injuries.
Looks like Sammir might actually have a chance of making the final 23 man roster.
Kranjcar is out. There goes some more depth, plus it could possibly open up a spot to now have two Brazilian born hrvati on the roster making it that much tougher to root for this team.
Any news about Kranjcar’s injury? 🙁
@ Ivica
Great question !
Luka is now down with that crew but has just entered into the conversation.
1. Boban – captain and legend of an AC Milan golden era.
2. Suker – better club career then most realize due to ’98 WC was so golden. Got the royal shaft at Real Madrid.
3. Žuti – the best player ever that got bit by the injury bug after he left Cervena Zvezda.
4. Modric – like Boban has settled into being a main starter in the best team in the world. If he could lead Real to some more hardware the next 5 years then he could rival Boban. Although Boban was the captain and in the footballing world that carries weight.
5. Srna – props to the captain for blending Brazilain talent with hard running Ukrajinici to make some noise in Europe while freezing his ass off.
6. Mandžukić – BEAST leading goal scorer of Bayern’s historic two year run.
7. Rakitić – Captained Sevilla to the Europa league title.
@ Svima
4 of the top 7 will be in Brazil…3 of which are in their PRIME!
Uvijek vijerni
Probably the first of many haircuts you will see heading into Brazil. Its going to be very hot at some venues.
@ Ante(ZsD) yes of course that is his modus operandi, the lad wilts under questioning, you must harden him up. Time for some basement sparring with the lad, no helmets or padding, for he needs to learn that its a cruel world outside of the fortified basement where coincidently there are real life women and not just the ones on his screen.
I would suggest you pay for the lad to take a trip to Brazil and get in contact with his idol Corluka and organise for him to show Ziva the sights and introduce him to some female company, kill two birds with one stone. Also he can get Carlis autograph on the jersey he so diligently and lovingly ironed the number 5 and Corluka on 😀
@Dalmo Ante-With regard to your question about the obseesion to Corlukas pubes,it basically relates to the narcissistic personality disorder that Ziva was diagnosed with recently.
It seems that a narcissist displays traits where they put down someone who is famous, rich and bangs more women than they do.They feel entitled to their position.Hence the nicknames and snide remarks.Narcissists also sufferfrom a lack of empathy and being able to show emotion toward others. This is all quite true,I am making none of it up.
The only thing is that here in the US,medical treatment is a killer,so I am trying testicular shock therapy down in the basement on the lad.Funny thing is,the lad actually has no pubes yet at all.One last thing, you asked him some hard questions, but you now that he wont properly answer them dont you!
any french open coverage dudes ?
@IvicA
I immediately thought of Samson losing his strength too!
@Kreso
That’s Diesel, Bruno’s ex-boyfriend.
who’s the dude in the main picture with Luka, i want to buy that killer shirt from him?
@Ziva that only gives a possible (possible meaning not likely, unless he took a leak in front of your guy in the savez) explanation to how you know this, it doesnt explain your obsession with his pubic region, try again, how does your obsession with another man’s pubic region which goes beyond standard jocksniffing, jive with the Za Dom Spremni lifestyle?
What can I tell you………Doctors and nurses in cro have big mouths.
French Open is tennis started earlier today. Which means another early exit is probably in the works for Doper Cilic. Karlovic and Dodig would be happy to win a few matches, although Dodig and his Brazilian partner are becoming a top threat in doubles.
Ante (ZSD) can you in some way explain Ziva’s obsession with Charli’s pubic region? this seems to go beyond standard jocksniffing he so loves.
how does knowing so much about Charli’s pubic region and constantly talking about it jive with the whole Za Dom Spremni lifestyle? Makes you sound like a flamer…….. just sayin 😀
Thats my boy!You tell em.(Between you and me,you know that the sign of a good BS artist is one that believes his own BS.You son are a believer!)
@Dalmo Ante,As I have revealed to all before,Ziva is pretty busy,so its Bobo the trained basement monkey who does most of the standard repeat type comments for Ziva.Ziva handles most of the “foot in mouth stuff”and the follow up denials.
didnt you already crack that same joke elsewhere?
not that anyone is surprised, all you do is rinse and repeat the same old sranje.
As for the hair who really cares? unless of course all his footballing prowess was a result of the hair, if thats the case we have cause for concern 😀
Just as long as he doesnt put a keg of product in it like his real team mates do before every match ill be happy. Maybe the streamlined look gives him a yard of pace 😀
aha, more parody accounts. Thanks boys, I keep winning. More importantly, the website keeps winnings.
@Ivica……..not yet, at least not when comparing him to Boban and Suker.
Suker won a golden boot leading us to 3rd at the World Cup which is more impressive than winning a CL. Boban also won a CL title and 4 Serie A titles back when Serie A was considered the best league in the world. The last Serie A title was heavily influenced by him and his run the last 10 weeks of that season remain legendary with Milan fans.
As for the comparison with Zuti. Both now have a CL title. Both were very important pieces for their teams. I think Luka has already had a better club career only because Zuti was always injured when he left Zvezda.
As for the Modric haircut…….Not to be outdone, Corluka is letting his pubic hair grow to make his “bumps” down low look less visible.
I don’t like the new haircut either.
Lil’ Luka Samson cut his long hair, and now he’ll lose all his strength.
Plus, he looks too Polish right now.
I dont think the new look is gonna strike any fear into opponents. Not very intimidating. Its a mix of Napolean Dynamite and Chicken little without the glasses. I know it means nothing as far as how he plays, but myself, and I bet you Kovac would prefer the long hair and shoe lace
im’ disappointed in the luka haircut. it makes him blend in too much on the field. i want it very obvious to the cro players where he is and where to pass the ball too
Ivica
IMO, Luka is a more complete player then any of the three you mentioned.
Luka has the heart of a champion. Congrats. Real were looking to give up but Luka’s heart kept them in it for the last few minutes before they tied it.
Question:
In terms of the success of their club footballing careers, has Luka Modric surpassed Suker, Prosinecki and/or Boban?

Haha I had similar hair back in the day, then I realized it made me look like a hippie…..which I am the opposite of, so off it went. Modric looks much better with the excess hair gone.
Bravo Luka idemo u Brazil sa Sampionski mentalitet.
Team to play Mali looks like this First half Pletikosa-Srna Carli Lovren Bubnjic/Pranjic-Rakitic Kovacic-Perisic Brozovic Rebic-Eduardo.
He looks about 25 percent less goofy without that long hair. Guess not everyone can have the God-given gift of beautiful flowing locks like Denis “Fabio” Svircic had.
Bravo Luka !
Keep it crisp and clean with no caffeine for Brazil.
Need to find some intelligent marketing movements that Luka can cash in on. My man is the staring CM for the most powerful club on the planet.
Need to rest him against Mali and see who else is ready to ball for the Vatreni In Brazil.
He does look physically fresh. Being a champion is energizing.
Once he gets a REAL number for Madrid I am going to buy a jersey for my son!
Man we are one blessed national side to have veliki Srce embodied in little Luka Modric.
