AHHHH…LIFE IS GOOD!
Luka Modrić scored the biggest goal of his life Saturday afternoon as Tottenham beat Premier League giants Chelsea; 1-0 at White Heart Lane. Modrić took a rifled cross from Aaron Lennon and ‘one-timed’ the ball right into the corner of the net. There was nothing Chelsea goalkeeper, Petr Cech, could do.
MODRIĆ GOAL AND CELEBRATION
MODRIĆ TAKES ON CHELSEA’S MICHAEL ESSIEN
Luka’s latest goal brings his tally up to two for the Premiership this season. Although he has not scored many goals this season, Modrić is becoming much more comfortable with the ball in offense and is earning immediate respect from defenders he encounters. Modrić also received a yellow card in the 79′ for ‘playing rough’. This is now his second yellow in as many games. Better watch out Luka- one more and you’ll have to sit out.
MODRIĆ FEELING RIGHT AT HOME
Modrić celebrated ecstatically by sliding on his chest with his arms spread out. Vedran Ćorluka was even affected by Modrić’s goal as I believe I even saw him crack a smile. But with all joking aside, I have never seen Ćorluka run so fast to celebrate a goal in the Premiership. He looked like a 100 meter runner getting to Modrić to pick him up and give him a kiss on the head.
ĆORLUKA GETTING BY NICOLAS ANELKA
Ćorluka was once again a brick wall on defense. He played any tricky balls and situations out of bounds and overall kept the world-class striking line of Chelsea at bay. With Chelsea’s loss at Tottenham and Manchester United’s 2-0 shalacking at the expense of Fulham; the Premiership has re-opened its doors for a 2009 champion. Liverpool is still in the mix as they are only four points behind current champs- Manchester United.
ĆORLUKA TAKING DOWN ENGLAND’S ASHELY COLE
(A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME?)
As much as I love watching Modrić become a world-class player (which I believe he will achieve), he still needs to become consistent with his play and shooting opportunities. Hopefully this goal gets him out of his ‘scared to shoot’ funk. Ćorluka remains a physical nuisance on defense for the opposition. I’m actually surprised other top clubs around Europe don’t try to lure Vedran away. I have Ćorluka in the same boat as Sergio Ramos. Anyone else?
Re: Translator desperately required
Can someone please enlighten me as to why an apparent rift has developed between Ibricic and the Hajduk coach?
Surely this can’t be good.
Is Mise trying to motivate Ibricic somehow?

@ Luka,
Welcome to CSR. It’s so nice to finally see you on here. You were over due just like your goal. 😉
@Yiddo,
Welcome aboard (seriously this time.) Hope to hear your thoughts and opinions from the Isle more frequently.
Haha can I call myself Anonymous Spurs Fan? I’ll just go with Yiddo since it basically means the same thing, I’ll try to keep everyone updated on what us fans in England are thinking in general. If anyone has any contact with Modric or Corluka, please tell them that all the Spurs fans love them and really want them to stay with us! And keep up the good work, we have only beaten Chelsea in the league one other time in my lifetime so this was a really big deal for us. Next season we will start stronger and push onwards and upwards.
Thank you..i was so happy when i scored..im really pushing hard in the premiership
p.s. im on your site all the time and i already know english very well
@ Anonymous aka Spurs Fan,
Good stuff man. I like what you have to say. Come by more often. Create a name.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Spurs fan here. Modric has really been coming along, I think this goal will really give him some confidence, and the addition of Palacios seems to have really helped him. He’s a tough little guy too, not shy on those challenges! And he’s young and still adjusting, I expect him to be even better next year.
Corluka has always been wonderfully consistent for us from the beginning. Our best buy probably. Luckily we are strong in the RB department in terms of pace – Hutton, Chimbonda, and Zokora all have it in abundance – and Charlie’s reading of the game really helps him a lot, like it did against Ashley Young. But it is true the top 4 clubs will hesitate before taking a defender without pace.
Next season we absolutely must start strong. Under Harry we’ve only gained 3 pts less than Arsenal did during this period, so like Corluka says, we have to challenge for top 6 to count our season as successful. But let’s just focus on our form for right now. It was a great win, now onwards and upwards. COYS!!
I will try to clean up my act …but what can i say im a bosanac ..its in my diry blood…Bosna in my heart
I apologize fellow semeritan…i am forever in your debt..have mercy on soul ..
I will not allow you to say stuff like that. I like all the people on the site and will not let you make a mockery of that by saying such ignorant things. This is not a circus.
this is discrimination!! whyd u remove my last post!!
@ Adrien,
Thanks for the vids. I’ll use them when I do ‘Croatians Around Europe’ in a bit. Denis is out of town on a little vacation. I can use all the help I can get.
I feel like a single mother. I have to cook and clean this weekend. Thanks again.
Well placed shot, but a great pass also. I’m happy for Tottenham they’ve finally come into their own after struggling mightily early on.
I’d have to agree with Vlad, the thing Corluka lacks to be world class is pace although I don’t he’s inconsistent. He does have some bad days but I think he is a consistent performer just lacks the speed to be one of the best.
Also not a bad weekend for Croatian football. Both Krizanac and Srna have scored for their respective teams:

Not a bad goal for a defender

and another deadly Srna free kick. I think the NT has a wealth of dead ball specialists in Srna and Rakitic not to mention Kranjcar and Modric who are the first choice for their respective clubs.
great game by modric, great for croatians that luka is becoming a great epl player, it will just give more oppertunitys for other croatians.
AS far as corluka i think he is a great player one of my favorites, but i wouldnt say hes world class, he had a great game but hes to inconsistent, also i think in that fullback postition you need more pace to be world class, corluka has everything skill, vision, cross, good defending, but he cant really beat someone with pace, when i think of great fullbacks now and through history theye all have world class speed up and down the flanks.
okay, no personal opinions or ‘i thinks’ – this is fact: liv’pool is cracking down aston villa 3-0 before halftime 😉
hey everyone, hi ante.
btw: liverpool is 4pts behind manu but manu is 1 game down. if liverpool doesnt score against villa i think the season is yet decided, even with 8 more games to play – the reds are simply too strong this season.
good to see tottenham improving. they are getting stronger and stronger at the end of the season, like they did last year. kane and palacios are relly strong additions to the team. luke is making big improvements to adopt to the british playstyle – i think physically he’s almost ‘perfekt’, what he needs is more pace to the goal and especially – like you mentioned in your previous posts – more goal attemps.
they already in reach for the international business when dudu and his aresnal fc will take down man city next playday…
as for vedran: in my eyes hes one of the best right backs, really no question about that one. i think there are several teams having an eye on him, but personally im happy to see him play together with luke 😉
last but not least: i think goalkeeper heurelio gomez was the decisive man next to luke for yesterdays clash against chelsea. he made some strong saves, especially the header from (i think it was) lampard and alex’s shot on the woodwork.
cheers from stuttgart, germany
