A few weeks ago, UFC president Dana White, told the media it would be either Andrei Arlovski or Stipe Miocic next in line for a crack at the UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum. There has been speculation for weeks on who would get the next Heavyweight Title shot. Many believed Arlovski or Junior Dos Santos should be next and others would argue for Miocic or for a Velasquez rematch. If we take Dana White for a man of his word it would appear that the Croatian Heavyweight Stipe Miocic has earned the next shot. White had said either Miocic or Arlovski would be next in line for the title, and subsequently it was announced officially tonight by the UFC that Andrei Arlovski will face Frank Mir next and not Werdum.
With that announcement it would leave Miocic as the logical choice to face the reigning Heavyweight Champ from Brazil Fabricio Werdum.
As history has proven in the UFC though the logical answer isn’t always the right one. At this point it is a toss up between a few guys in the top 5 that make sense. In my opinion other then Arlovski their is only 3 other possible opponents for Werdum. That being Junior Dos Santos, Stipe Miocic and former Champion Cain Velasquez. A rumour has been swirling about JDS being matched up with Allistair Overeem so that could potentially leave only Valesquez and Miocic once the dust settles.
Who do you guys think deserves the next shot at the reigning champ Fabricio Werdum?
Stipe Miocic, Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos or maybe you have someone else in mind?
You can follow me on Twitter@Crocrippler or on Facebook @ Croatian Crippler
That fight is confirmed with Rothwell which I thought was a bullshit match up when I was told before it went mainstream
Anyone hear Rogan saying the UFC should bring in more weightclasses. I reckon a 225 pound division would be perfect considering most light heavyweights walk around at that weight before cutting. Both Liddell and Franklin were natural 225 pounders.
It seems that miocic is fighting Rothwell next and werdum fighting cain again (fuck!)
hw division is watered down. HW was never the strongest division in any organization, but now we are seeing that the hw’s are not well rounded at all. Fedor is making a comeback because he sees this.

Kurac, UEFA gives Mamic twice as much.
you forgot the best one……… NK Bjezigrad
I say all these team nicknames and portmanteaus are lame. The nicknames for HNL teams are at least decent:
Europski Dinamo
M-J-N Hajduk
FK Malo Beograd
Komunisticki Split
Just call them Fiorentini…as in, Fredi Fiorentini
I like Fio-Cro-Tina. If they get Kalinic, I don’t like the chances of all four playing together though. Ricardo Bagadur played in that friendly against Chelsea as well.
Die, injured, its all the same. I have no emotional attachments to any of these guys. I watch to be entertained.
Back to soccer………With the news of Kalinic being close to a move to Fiorentina, does this means they will be referred to as Cro-entina, Fio-Cro-tina, etc…..
What say you?
you want to see some one die on TV?
c’mon dude
Hunts not good anymore but he was great in Pride and that’s why he;s there. Like Mirko, going on way too long.
UFC HW is strong for sure and Stipe definitely has a legitimate and real shot at being the champ at some point. Wouldnt surprise me at all. Do i think he;s the best fighter ? Maybe not but on his day he has shown the nous and professionalism to win all his matches bar a couple and has passed nearly every test with flying colours.
what other reason is there to watch other than to hope for a beating and blood?
come on ziva lay of the loza and re-read your comments. You can do better then this.
Listen, I enjoy this version of organized after school back yard fight club. I watch it and consume it for the hope of seeing blood and someone get hurt. Honestly, I wouldn’t even mind witnessing someone get paralyzed or die in the ring just to see how UFC would handle the media backlash and all the fake outrage that would come at the sport.
Looks like a pig that you would see working the door at a bar as a bouncer.
Was your friend special needs?? Lol a boxing ring in the back yard?? The rain would destroy it! I’m not knowledgeable in all sports…but the ones I have played or trained in I have my opinion…but other sports I never played or had formal training in I wouldn’t disrespect or judge…mark hunt is a genetic freak…skull of iron!
Have is it evident based on a few posts?????
in combat sports?????? No. Unless you count a former girlfriend.
Although I did take part in an organized after school fight club event in high school. My friend had a boxing ring in his backyard.
Ziva have you ever played or trained in any sport in your life?. It’s clearly evident you never ever took a lesson in a combat sport!.
regardless if he doesnt fight for the belt in his next fight but wins he should definitely be in line to fight the champ no matter who wins it.
I have no clue……..I just see a big fat ass like Hunt and some of these other guys who look like they will die after five minutes and I wonder.
I think the guy at the top looks legit, while the next 5 or 6 are all interchangeable.
I don’t think they are getting the best guys. They are getting athletes who are not good enough in actual individual or team sports that pay money and then the guys go into this sport. That is not meant to be a knock against them.
@Ziva Istina
So you believe it’s watered down. You show me better heavyweights that aren’t in the UFC and I’ll shut up. I’m not an expert but suggesting it’s watered down means the UFC aren’t getting the best guys.
So a fat ass dude like Mark Hunt being ranked in the top 10 means it is strong??????
Could have fooled me.
I would like to field Ziva Istina’s question, seeing you’ve only given two options, strong or watered down, I would say strong.
Ok, fair enough. Question for you…….is the heavyweight division strong or watered down? Sounds like you are expert on organized back yard after school fight club.
Stipe will be a heavyweight champ, its just a matter of time at this point.
He has 2 losses in the ufc, stefan struve and JDS. The 7 footer fight was 3 years ago. Stipe is a much better fighter now then he was 3 years ago. Like I said Ziva stick to the stuff you know.
Absorb some extra shots??????? Is that what call it??
And what is the excuse for the loss to the 7-footer. I’d be happy to make a wager?
Yeah Ziva STFU.
The winner of the Arlovsi/Mir fight or JDS deserves the next title shot. Miocic was beating JDS then he decided to absorb some extra JDS shots to the face and lost the decision.
Ziva stick to what you know. Your dead wrong on this one.
It would be nice to see him in a title fight in organized after school back yard fight club, but he is not going to come close to winning a title. Still, would be nice story to see that match.
Werdum did say he wanted some time off, and then suggested JDS fight Arlovski and Miocic fight Cain and whoever has the most impressive win fights him for the title. But with the Arlovski v Mir fight being announced and the rumored JDS v Overeem fight, I’m hoping this means Miocic gets the next shot, but I have a feeling Miocic will be fighting Cain next.
If the rumor about JDS being matched up with Overeem is true then I would say Miocic should be up. Werdum said that he doesn’t believe Cain deserves a rematch right away since he won the fight convincingly. But we’ll see. I wouldn’t be surprised if Miocic and JDS fight and the winner of that gets a shot at the title. That would leave Werdum with no one to fight for the rest of the year though and I’m betting the UFC wants to have a heavyweight title fight sometime in December. It should be announced soon either way
