It is now official- Dejan Lovren is the newest member of the Olympique Lyon family. After successfully completing a full ‘head to toe’ physical Wednesday morning in France, the 20 year old signed on the dotted line making him Lyon property for the next four and a half years. After initial reports claimed that the transfer would be for €8 million, Sportske Novosti reported that Dinamo Zagreb will collect €10 million for Lovren. This was incorrect as the transfer went through for €8 million, however, Dinamo could make another €1.5 million on bonuses through Lovren should he perform well.
LOVREN WAS ALL BUSINESS
The young Croatian defender should be ready to play for Lyon by next weekend. I couldn’t imagine seeing him rushed into the lineup days after being signed. Congratulations to Lovren on his first major career move! CSR wishes you the best as we look forward to seeing you in ‘Croatians Around Europe.’
Now the question is: Will Domagoj Vida replace Lovren at Dinamo Zagreb?
@ Radman,
The CSR Blazer will be part of the 2010-11 catalog available in Spring. However, Ivica Peros already ordered his as he just couldn't wait.
Good times.
Three of Lyon's defenders are injured. I'll venture to guess that Lovren will be starting for the rest of the season.
Lyon's current defense is pretty old from what I have heard, so Lovren should be getting playing opportunities immediately.
I think Vida will stay put. Osijek know they have something special in him.
Playing time is never guaranteed. Forget about the size of the contract. Lyon doesnt get to the Champions League every year by just handing out starting spots that easily. You have to earn your starting spot. I wish the kid all the best, The National Team is in DESPERATE need of some young defenders.
Simic also signed big contracts with both Inter and Milan but could never establish himself as a starter. And he was a successful player. Lovren will get some time initially but if he doesn't impress quickly and/or there aren't any squad injuries, he could end up envying Simic' stats..
Of course he'll get alot of playing time. He's young and signed onto a pretty big contract.
For a young defender, Ligue Un is probably the best place to go. My only concern is whether he'll get sufficient playing time at a big club like Lyon. If he does, though, he'll develop into a quality defender.
Dude looks sharp! However, not feeling the glasses, something about wearing sunglasses indoors that makes me laugh. Please tell me he takes them off when he goes into night clubs and lounges.
I say that all the writers of CSR, the bar has been set. We all thought Ivica raised the bar with his professional photo. I want to see you guys with a CSR blazer and crest.
Yes, quite the snazzy blazer isn't it?
I believe you can purchase these at the Dinamo gift shop located between WC #4 and the burger stand at Maksimir. 🙂
Good for him and Dinamo Zagreb. Where can I buy a DZ jacket like that!?
