With literally seconds left in injury time, Ivica Olić scored the game winner for Bayern Munich giving the German giants a 2-1 win over Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal clash. When Wayne Rooney scored off a set piece in the 2′, United looked to have bunkered down on defense taking an Italian approach to the match- play for the 1-0 win.
After Franck Ribery equalized for Bayern in the 77′ off a deflected free kick, it looked like the two teams would be headed back to Old Trafford at 1-1. Olić had other plans. In the 92′ he stole the ball from Patrice Evra’s blindside and followed with a left-footed game-winner as he got Edwin van der Sar to lean the wrong way. Olić was a work horse the the entire match and had two other prime looks on goal.
Both Olić and Danijel Pranjić started for Bayern in front of a packed Allianz Arena for this match. Pranjić also played well with many crosses from the wings as well as a long range shot at goal before being subbed out late due to a minor knock.
Can Bayern duplicate this effort when they travel to Manchester come April 7th?
WHEN’S THE LAST TIME YOU SAW A PLAYER SHAKE THE REFS HAND (AND MEAN IT) AFTER RECEIVING A YELLOW CARD?
re: bogut
i saw the replay on nbatv. it looked pretty bad. so does the picture on jsonline:
http://www.jsonline.com/sports/bucks/89851432.html
reports are slightly dislocated elbow. no broken bones. let's hope he's OK to play soon.
Bogut is injury prone. This one is a more of a fluke, but he has a tendacy to pick up injuries and is developing a reputation as being injury-prone.
Finally the nba season is near completition. Should be cut down by 20 or 30 games. Playoffs r near.
re: bogut
in the first half of the bucks/suns game in milwaukee, bogut fell awkwardly on his arm after a dunk (and a nudge from amare). he left the game and the initial report is that he hurt his elbow. team doctors took him to the hospital for further examination. he's definitely out for the rest of this game. not sure how many games he will miss, if any.
Vranjes is no better than juric. Again, lack of quality depth when it comes to the international level.
I think Bayern look good to advance as well. There team is simply better than what Man Utd will put out.
Berbatov is approaching the Henry at Barca/Suker at West Ham stage. He's not given a good performance in a long time. Nani and Valencia are low class in comparison to Robben and Ribery. Olic is key. If he set the tempo i think Bayern will do well and could even win the game.
I read Ivan Juric is going to retire. That looks such a bad decision by Bilic now to field him against Ukraine. So basically Bilic's answer to Niko Kovac retiring was a guy who was gonna retire himself a year later.
Some may laugh at this, but how is Jurica Vranjes doing in Turkey. I notice he's playing each week and been involved in some of their goals.
I might have to stand corrected. Just watched the entire ManU-Chelsea match and United were trash. They couldn't get anything going at all.
If they play like this on Wednesday with Robben returning to the Bayern lineup, I can't see United getting the result they need.
Bayern looking good!
Denis and I already met with Jazic and Razov of Chivas USA last season. An interview was scheduled with both but it fell through late in the season. We'll get them again this year.
Get your questions ready Prva Generacija!
This Jazic guy would be interesting to speak to as he looks like he's had something of a career. He looks like he had success in HNL1 as he went on to play for Rapid Vienna so is one of those Croats who succeed in Croatia and progress abroad.
Hajduk's draw with Zagreb was very damaging. Its a perfect chance for Sibenik, Cibalia, Karlovac to move away from them and Osijek to get back onto them.
For us it was good Zapresic picked up the win. Ideally we don't want them to be relegated.

Hey guys,
Ante BBB here. Since I haven't been to a game in six months, had to change my name back to Ante B (although some of you sent me emails congratulating me on the changing to Ante Torcida).
Just wanted to wish all of you CSR readers and retards a very wonderful Easter!
SRETAN USKRS SVIMA!
…I NAPRIJED PLAVI!
@Zach…..Jazic is a good guy. I don't know him personally, but I know of a few people that played with him in Croatia and they say nice things about him. On the field he is a very good player for MLS standards; nothing more, nothing less.
Jelavic to Dinamo won't happen..
Jelavic will go to a stronger league (hopefully Bundesliga, though i can see him being a success in France) which will improve his chances in the Croatia squad. I was a critic but i've got to sign top top season from Jelavic this year. Same with Ivan Perisic who as far as i'm concerned theres no debate on whether Perisic should be in the Croatia squad. Gabric or Pokrivac – either of these can step aside.
Next season could be extremely exciting for striker. You'll Eduardo, Olic at Bayern, Petric at HSV, Kalinic at Blackburn, Bilic at Sporting (would be daft to leave) all playing in top league.
Then after that it's very likely Jelavic and Mandzukic will be at stronger clubs.
Then Klasnic and Budan have also done enough this season to attract a Serie A or Bundesliga club that will give them a starting place.
Then there is Mario Budimir (Ergotelis), Srdjan Lakic (Kaiserslautern) who could have surprise seasons.
In the Croatian league i'd expect if Ante Rukavina went to Hajduk i'd imagine he'd come back to prominence. I'd also expect Kramaric to have a better season next year. Basically there should be a lot of fight for places.
Once Mandzo and Badelj goes i hope Dinamo doesn't go to much back to basics. I'd hate to see us just picking up washed up guys like Ivan Bosnjak. There is a 40% of me which thinks Dinamo might do such a thing. People like Pokrivac could also be a Dinamo target.
@ zach g
check out the bottom of his profile on the chivas website. it says he played for hajduk and hrvatski dragovoljac.

Anyone know "how Croatian" Ante Jazic of Chivas USA is?
Anyone know "how Croatian" Ante Jazic of Chivas USA is?
i watched the bayern/manU game from start to finish. i thought pranjic had a solid game helping bayern maintain possession in the midfield. olic's work-rate was very high all game, as usual, and his persistence paid off in injury time. his was a great heads-up hustle play that won the game for bayern. it doesn't get any better.
i hope bayern smoke them in manchester. F manU.
Ma he should go to Hajduk, the only REAL team in Hrvatska. NAPRID BILI!
…VOLIN TE HAJDUCE!!!
Jelavic to Dinamo?

@Ivica Peros
Manchester United is still Manchester United with or without Rooney. Still a difficult task for Bayern even without Rooney. Mark my words, Bayern will need to score at Old Trafford or they will be heading back to Munich with only Bundesliga on their minds.
@Michael
Yes, Igor Biscan was used by Liverpool, however, he was just a small piece in defense. Igor was like Sasha Vujacic for the Lakers last season. No one calls Sasha a champion. No one remembers Biscan at Liverpool. Prso at Monaco.. will be remembered forever.

What are you waiting for? Send us some pictures/videos 🙂
I wish I could get my hands on one of these Hajduk vs Dinamo tickets:)

I hope Bayern go into the semis, but to say Man U is a one-man team is wrong. You don't get to the top of the EPL standings this late in the season by being a one-man team. Plus, some very saying the same last year with Ronaldo and this year they have shown they are not a one-man squad.
@ Slaven
He's out for 2-4 weeks, so obviously it's something more.
I think Robben said it best that Manchester United is a one man team. Robben should be back for the next round so Bayern will be even more potent. Rooney just had his foot stepped on by Gomez and he goes down like Ronaldo. What a puss. Yeah it stings but to go off the pitch on crutches..
A lot of United fans are worried, since they are in the thick of the EPL title race, CL etc. To rely on Berba/Valencia/Park/Nani (who is not liked by many United fans) to do all of that, and knowing Rooney will be fine for World Cup is kind of a kick in the nards.
Bayern need a win or draw to go through.
Rooney is slated to be out for up to 4 weeks after his injury. Some believe this is karma for his tackle that took Pranjic out.
The funny thing, is that Olic was looking like he was going to be subbed off, and then Pranjic got injured.
@ Dennis
Igor Biscan did it with Liverpool in 2005 (Although he did not play in the final game)
@ Ivica,
I couldn't disagree with you more. Whether Rooney plays or not, Manchester United will still be the favorite to go on in the Old Trafford match.
1) All they need is a 1-0 win to go through.
2)ManU scored an early goal and bunkered down like an Italian club would. We only saw 40% of what United could do offensively on Tuesday.
3) Rooney isn't the only scorer on United. He's just the one that's on fire as of the moment. Berbatov, Nani, Valencia can all get the job done. Even Vidic from the back, look at his header off the post on Tuesday.
Bayern are surely in the driver's seat but this tie is far from over.
PJANICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
No official news yet, but Rooney may have a serious injury. He went down towards the end of the game favoring his ankle. He is carrying ManU and has been this entire season. Without him, no chance they can can come out of this moving on, regardless of the Old Trafford advantage next week.
Olic redeemed himself after missing on a tap in earlier in the first half. Manchester still has that valuable away goal.
Bayern will still have to score to go through. I dont see Bayern shutting out ManU at Old Trafford, with or without Rooney. Nevertheless a great performance by Bayern and excellent result. For the first time since Dado Prso(please correct me if I am wrong), we have a Croat going far in Champions league.
I guess the coach listened when he said he was disappointed for being taken out at half in the last game.
Golic does it again! Bayern dominated the 2nd half both in shots and posession. If they can keep this 2nd half game plan for the next game, they'll do well.
