Dinamo Zagreb will have the opportunity to take a giant step closer to knocking on the doors of Europe when they face Belgian side Club Brugge at Maksimir in Zagreb. The Purgeri have not been able to “hibernate” in Europe for over forty years.
A win tomorrow would almost surely guarantee this.
Dinamo bounces back to victory lane after a convincing domestic league win on the road against Osijek (3:1) with goals scored by Sammir, Badelj and Fatos Beciraj. After an abysmal performance, Ante Rukavina hopes to regain his European form and composure that sadly evaded him like a fart in the wind against Greek side PAOK two weeks ago.
Milan Badelj, Dinamo’s co-captain, will also have another opportunity to hopefully shine on the European stage—something that has eluded him his entire career at Dinamo.
“We live for that game, we can hardly wait and we’re aware of what it means. This is a huge opportunity for us and I believe we won’t let it pass. We’re aware our strengths and we’re ready for a positive result.”
Club Brugge will do everything in their power to make sure that streak continues for Dinamo. Brugge currently sits in last place in Group D with one loss and one draw. The club features Croatian U-21 star and former Hajduk player, Ivan Perišić, who spoke about the team’s desperation admittedly would not feel remorse if he scores against his former rival club.
“I expect a great game. Dinamo is the favorite at home and this is our last chance. We have to go for the victory if we want to stay in the race to move on. Of course I’ll celebrate my goal, like any other one. All Croatian clubs are dear to me but I’m a Hajduk kid. Of course I won’t provoke anybody [if I do score].”
The atmosphere in Maksimir will again be without the Bad Blue Boys who will continue their boycott of the club until executive vice-president Zdravko Mamić steps down or there is a restructuring of the club.
On Tuesday the Bad Blue Boys decided to show their passion for the club they love that has been in hiding for the past two months. An army of two-thousand supporters from all generations and from every corner of Croatia descended upon Hitrec (Dinamo’s training ground) and once again proved they are Croatia’s best and loudest supporters. Their constant singing propelled coach Vahid Halilhodžić to stop practice for a short time because he could not get a word in with his players due to the noise. Halilhodžić, delighted by his first contact with the Bad Blue Boys but disappointed with some of their anti-Mamić chants, wished they would return to the stadium for tomorrow’s game. The Bad Blue Boys had adamantly stated they will not be present at the game and will continue their boycott as planned.
TRAINING FROM TUESDAY
It has been confirmed that Club Brugge supporters will be in Zagreb.
Naprijed Plavi! Nema predaje!
Who wants to read a boring cookie cutter fan report without any style in them? I can back up why I think the BBB are the loudest and best fans in Hrvatska based on what I've witnessed first hand. It is my personal opinion and since the overwhelming majority of you are Hajduk supporters, I ask myself if it's worth it?
This was Ante BBB's fan report for the Dinamo-Brugge match.
I, as an editor of CSR, told Ante that he can be more liberal with his writings as he is not neutral to this site- he is Dinamo.
I don't care WHAT he said: "Dinamo have the best and loudest supporters", but I do care WHY he said it.
He's going to have to back it up now, because as we all already know on CSR, if you say something and can't back it up, you're going to get it thrown back in your face 10-fold. We're all big boys here for good discussion on Croatian soccer. Let's see what he has to say following these comments.
Also, pre-match reports are boring. We already know what is going to be said. If you let fans open up to a bit of opinion, it can get things going.
That's what CSR was built on in the first place: the REAL fan's opinion. Remember boys and girls, this place is an open forum, everyone is entitled to express themselves.
@ tom in WPG,
This also applies to you in the future. You've been doing a fantastic job with the Hajduk reports. Just know that we're giving you more room if you need it in the future.
Back to the Hajduk game. Still men against boys out there.
as for predictions….I can't see Hajduk getting anythig. Will have to wait and see how the game plays out, but 2-0 or 3-0 seems logical to me.
As for Dinamo…..1-1 or a 2-1 win. Brugge is no club to worry about
Honestly, I don't know why the BBB think they're winning a battle against the club when they're obviously losing.
Look at it this way: every year, the BBB causes a headache for Dinamo when they get into altercations and such with other fans. Especially when they tear up Maksimir after a loss. So when they boycott games, it doesn't do anything for them because
1) They don't get to watch the game in the stadium and vocally support the team
2) Dinamo doesn't have to worry about controlling the BBB when they're not at the games.
Mamic is laughing at them right now.
ante only thing we will suck is your moms titties. even before the boycott you guys couldnt fill up your stadium sooooo keep talking son,
Brugge star strike Ronald Vargas will be out for this match, due to red card suspension.
I can see Brugge playing for a draw, and trying to win on counter. Remember, their 10-man side only lost by 1 goal to Villareal, and at one point were tied.
Hopefully Villareal will take care of PAOK, to give us some breathing room should Dinamo get a point or 3.
what's the big deal. It's a website, he is free to write what he wants.
On the other end, the website loses credibility when statements such as "Dinamo have the best and loudest supporters" are made in what looks to be a news report or a preview. That line sounds like the ramblings of a 15-year old. Same would hold true for a hajduk article that contained that. But, at the end of the day its a random website.
Also, one last thing…
DINAMO SUPPORTERS OF CROATIAN SOCCER REPORT!
Asses and elbows, fellow Dinamo supporters. While I don't mind writing the Dinamo reports, it would be nice if some of you other dickheads (in the nicest of ways) decided to take the initiative and start writing your own in case I ever feel under the weather. If you're in the dijaspora, great. If you're in Zagreb or Hrvatska, even better!
YOU HAVE OFFICIALLY BEEN CALLED OUT.
Spremni
…and it obviously worked. Don't read it if you don't like it especially knowing the pro Dinamo tendencies of the author. Enough said.
Anonymous,
London (Arsenal and Tottenham), Temisvar? Milan? Zurich? I won't comment on the apparent beatdown the Zenit fans gave the Torcida because most importantly. I wasn't there and the youtube video link provided isn't enough. Remember that the Torcida follows the Italian style of navijanje whereas the BBB are more English.
Keep commenting Hajduk supporters…I can't hear you though. Suuuuuck it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpzgaAv6Tok
I'll let you all have the last word.
Spremni
Torcida in Roma…. show me the BBB do that in recent history – every hajduk supporter
RE: "once again proved they are Croatia’s best and loudest supporters."
Ante, come on man. We know where you're coming from but must you insist on provocation even in a simple "news" story?
I always forget the prediction part.
Dinamo 2 Brugge 1
Hajduk 1 Zenit 3
Anonymous,
Thanks for proving our point. -every Dinamo supporter.
"Dinamo have the best and loudest supporters"….???? This website just lost all its credibility (if it had any) with that one statement.
Sincerely,
Every non DZ supporter… and no, I don't follow hajduk… but seriously, what a stupid statement.
I have Dinamo-Club Brugge 1-1 and Hajduk losing in St. Petersburg 4-0.
No Predictions eh?
I think Dinamo will come through tomorrow with a 2-1 win. While Hajduk will go down swinging 2-0.
