Luka Modrić is one of the most softly spoken football players you will ever meet. He’s cool, calm and collected all the time. And I can speak from personal experience after interviewing the midfield maestro in Los Angeles back in 2013.
And I believe that even if someone did upset Modrić, he wouldn’t let his nerves get the best of him in public. But there’s always an exception to every rule; and in this case it’s Pepe.
Modrić & Pepe exchange some words with each other before Real Madrid’s match Sunday
Who’s Pepe?
Pepe is that head case on your Sunday league team that’s there to let out his life’s frustrations more than play soccer. He’s the guy that picks up a red card in the 5th minute of play. The same guy that is mouthing off to the opposition before the opening whistle has even blown.
The worst of Pepe
So it’s no surprise that this Portuguese footballer can get under the calmest of personalities.
But why the confrontation between the two Real Madrid players at the Bernabeu this weekend?
CroatianSports.com got the inside scoop.
The conversation went like this:
Pepe: Why you no take Instagram pictures with me Luka?! You have 4 million followers. I only have 2!
Luka: You’re old and no one likes you Pepe.
Pepe: No Luka, everyone loves Pepe.
After 100s of photos and years of being on the same team together, Pepe has finally had it with Modrić and his Instagram account. And it boiled over at the Bernabeu this weekend.
@Bolan Ne Seri
Bolan, ne seri.
@Maminjo
No insight into what Bozo the clown Petrov is itching to do?
Most, Milanovic and Karamarko all dumb yugos like Maminjo and Ziva.
I don’t see the damage in another election. I doubt it changes anything, but I don’t see how it hurts anything either.
Anyway, looks like the answer will be known tomorrow. MOST will get a good number of minister seats and Karamarko is not the PM. Works for me. Now, can MOST live up to their promises about cuts in the bloated public sector. Get ready. If some of you have family with government/municipality jobs you might have to start sending over more money to them.
Well that was MOST’s whole sticking point… They don’t want either Milanović nor Karamarko as Prime Minister.
Milanović would never give that title up, and spent this whole time trying to break MOST up.
I’d be surprised if Karamarko would give it up too (since he’s a career politician), but I’m hoping they just form a government now (MOST and HDZ). Another election would be a disaster.
_
Can we finance Ziva’s bid for Prime Minister?
Plus, any agreement must include Karamarko not being the prime minister.
This is the lesser of two evils. Anyone but SDP is a positive, but don’t expect much with HDZ.
HDZ and Most just agreed!!!
Maminjo…I was being a bit sarcastic…a friend of mine thinks there’s a conspiracy throughout every part of Croatian politics (I do kinda agree with him) and told me based on yesterdays news that MOST was a bunch of commies appeasing Milanovic!
@Slavonac
MOST a part of the UDBa? Doubt it.
MOST is just a combination of independent politicians who have no affiliation to a party. They are all about creating a positive business environment by removing bureaucracy and public debt. But because they don’t have unified view on other things (such as where they stand on the left or right), this makes them easy to poach (as you can see by the fact that they were 19 seats now only 15 seats). It also makes it very unlikely for them to be affiliated with something like UDBa.
I hope they create a coalition with the HDZ and are successful in reducing debt and creating an easy path for Croatian businesses to be successful, but I’m not holding my breath.
Probably Pepe. He would go down crying and faking an injury and win the call. I would then turn around and insult him.
Who would win a 50/50 tackle between Pepe and Ziva?
Trust no politician in the former Yugo. All of them are govno.
I think you’re a good guy Ziva, I know you’re funny or try to be at time but my only issues are when you continue to go after our own people…I just don’t understand it but I guess I’m probably a bit too sensitive.
BTW…what’s happening in politics today? Is it true that MOST is part of the Yugo UDBA in BiH?
Correct………….I was commenting in the moment. He was playing like shit. Nobody can say he wasn’t. Also agree that much of that was due to the transition to a new league and missing much of training camp. Now, could I have said all that……Yes. but, I enjoy reading the overreaction that comes from the people on the site.
I don’t love or hate to criticize our own people. I just comment about the current situation and at times try to be funny about it (emphasis on TRY) and/or want to start a discussion among the people who post.
What amazes me is the reaction people have when we are discussing topics or individuals they don’t know or have never met. It is as if they are family members……hence the whole fan boy syndrome.
Ziva, I agree you weren’t calling him a total bust, as in “he’s a shitty player’…but yes, you were making comments during that time about his level of play and if you remember, you and I exchanged conversations regarding his play and I was defending him stating that he missed the pre-season where most of the tactical and strategic play is done.
the reason why people attack you is because you didn’t clarify or distinguish what you meant. I know what you meant but most just read your comments and took them as Modric is a bust….to be fair, most people would read it that way but I know you a bit better…you’re a smart guy but can be a bit too harsh at times…you love to criticize our own people, make fun of the dead, talk about mental illness as if its someone’s fault (Pletikosa’s wife) when in fact you could be just as funny without going down that road…so I think thats why people look to attack you dude!
@soul champ
Just ignore him.
Lets be accurate people………….I never called Modric a bust. In fact, I said he would excel in La Liga with Real. What I did say is the Spanish media and some fans were calling him a bust after his first few months at Real Madrid and I asked the question…..”is he a bust?”
But, I appreciate you guys thinking of me when you wake up or go to bed at night.
Thanks for playing the game.
Credit to Pepe for being the bigger man and walking away.
Why DID Ziva call Luka Modric a bust?
Many levels to this inquiry.
At core it is the:
Self hating Hrvati/Veliki Hrvat syndrome.
Unfortunately this is pandemic in our diaspora community.
Antidote is to visit Croatia on a regular basis and have some steady tang.
I offer free consultation to all of us who struggle with SHH/vhs.
Lil Pepe was such a nice boy growing up.Then he read Zivas book titled “Living a Za Dom Spremni Lifestyle like Ziva”.Now my lil Pepe is about as popular as the Ebola virus.
PS-Why did Ziva say that Modric was a bust? He seems fine to me.
