23 year-old Ivan Perišić was not happy with his bench role at Borussia Dortmund, the current German champions, and requested a transfer in December in search of first-team football. The former Belgian Jupiler league scoring champion never earned a starting role in Dortmund in his season and a half at the club and will now join fellow Croatians Ivica Olic, Srdjan Lakic and Hrvoje Cale at Wolfsburg for a rumored €8.5 million.
Perišić is a natural left-winger in the midfield who has a ferocious left-footed shot, especially keen on volleys. Wolfsburg currently sit in 15th position in the Bundesliga and can use all the help they can get to avoid potential relegation.
What do you see Perišić doing in Wolfsburg?
the right move for perisic . he’s young and like mentioned has time to move to greener pastures. his position at dortmund was too difficult with some solid german players in front of him. perisic even said himself that the lack of consistency really got to him. if he played and scored a goal he would find himself playing the next match. if he didn’t, he would have to ride the bench. pretty high expectations that he must score a goal every time he steps on the pitch in order to see the pitch again the enxt day
What the last 3 hrvati have done at Wolfsburg is no indicator on how he will do…..
Cale…….is not good enough for the Bundesliga
Olic……..old and injured
Lakic…….journeyman
I noticed you forgot to include Mandzukic because it does not fit your narrative. Why is that?
You make it sound like Wolfburg is anti-hrvat with your explanation.
I think Perisic has made the wrong move…Look at the 3 croatians there…
Cale: Never play a single minute since the opening game last season..
Olic: only a couple of goals scored and his form has deteriorated since his injury at Bayern
Lakic: When can he ever score a goal?
Perisic: Will he be the next flop???
great move, he’s gotta spin somewhere, anywhere. still budesliga tackles and players trying to make names of them selves. if u think this is a bad move, lud si
Are we still looking for a Croatian name for Wolfsburg?
Umm, how about Vukovar? 🙂
Figured we could name it this since I’m pretty sure Vukovar and Wolfsburg mean the EXACT same thing.
(Wolf’s castle)
I’m really glad he left Klopp’s pollack loving club.

What do you boys think about the Ballon D’Or? What’s more hilarious, CR’s reaction or Messi’s suit jacket?
They showed a timelapse photo of Messi winning all four Ballon D’Ors. You can tell he gave less and less of a hell each photo. First photo, formal black tux. Second, more fancy black tux, third suede purple tux, and obviously fourth circus tux with matching bowtie. I know he’s proud of the award and values it, but damn, it’s like they let a toddler dress himself.

Had Perisic gone to any bundesliga team other than Borussia D or Bayern M a year and a half ago, he may have become a very good, or possible a great player by now.
Hopefully he takes his game to the next level now. I was worried he was gonna get stuck at Dortmund. He got out just in time.
It’s a good move for Perisic. This stage in his career he doesn’t want to sit. Plus, looking at Dzeko and Mandzukic, he can definitely move to greener pastures after a few seasons with Wolfsburg.
To be frank, it’s too damn bad that he was going up against Gotze and Reus, he didn’t have a chance with those two. Both German and future stars in themselves. He didn’t really have a chance against the Polish winger either, I’m not going to bother trying to spell his name; he captains the side or at least has if my memory serves me. How that douche Grosskeutz started over him is still beyond me, must have been a tactical decision

Olic, Lakic and Cale are still with the team
Olic Lakic Cale are all gone get transfered as i read in the papers awhile back
Good move he plays well in Bundesliga in Dorthmund he got pushed aside for german players and only played like 15 mins or less a game good move hes not dumb like modric going to real
Jelavic scores again 4th division men’s league side.
Bravo Perisic! Excellent move, together with Olic and Bas Dost, BAM!
Hrvuko FC
Vukshrbaska
Vuksburg
Easy….Crolsfburg.
At this point in his career, I doubt Olic cares if he sits. He’s burning 100 Euro bills and using that to light up his cigars while collecting his money.
ok, time for the million dollar question…
Going in the tradition of ‘Crottenham’ – with 4 Hrvati on Wolfsburg, what cheesy nickname will we use for Wolfsburg now?
Olic will be relegated to the bench now, good 😀
Wolfsburg play one up front and Olic usually played on the left wing, where Perisic will most likely play. Olic won’t beat out Dost for the striker position
Have to side with the folks that think this is a better move…
Bundesliga, I’d say, is the best league in the world right now, from top to bottom. Ivan will play quality sides week in and week out and plus with Wolfsburg, they make it to Europe fairly regularly. If Perisic has trouble cracking this starting XI at Wolfsburg, that’s a whole other can of worms to deal with…
Step down in quality for Perisic, but more playing time. If he is the player we think he is, he will excel at Wolfburg and be with a bigger club in a few years.

@Blatobran
well until then he should use Wolfsburg as a stepping stone and make a name for himself
@Denis:
Ditto
Being a superstar at Wolfsberg is like being a superstar at a team in the HNL. Useful as tits on a bull.
He should be playing with a better team.
I see Perišić really making a name for himself there..Wolfsburg superstar
great move for Perisic. Hopefully he gets the start right behind on Olic on the left side. Perisic is definitely the future of Croatian soccer. 90 minutes for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga beats out riding the bench all year at Dortmund.
