Your favorite bow-wielding striker is staying in London.
After his first year in the Premiership with Fulham FC, Mladen Petrić has signed with West Ham United on a free transfer for the 2013-14 season. Lead striker Andy Carroll is injured which can very well see Petrić get a nod in Sam Allardyce’s starting XI. The 32 year-old Petrić has previously played for Basel, Borussia Dortmund, Hamburg and Fulham before signing with West Ham. In 45 appearances for Croatia, he has scored 13 goals, none more important than his left-footed strike from outside the box in 2007 at Wembley to kill England’s hopes of a Euro 2008 bid.
Expect 5-7 goals from Petrić this season; with two of them coming from the penalty spot. Will he be Fantasy Premiership material? My magic 8-ball says “doubtful.”
