was it Ziva Istina or someone else who warned people about wearing the jerseys of players. We now have our own players begging for them.
Ante, If you ever decide to have a Croatian Sports Convention where all of us who support your site can get together (Vegas?) I’m 1000 percent sure this sites greatest Moron will never show up or reveal who he really is.
After calling Luka a Pedophile for signing a fans shirt, is an all time new Moron Low, thus I don’t think he leaves the convention alive.
Even if this buffoon is trolling some things are just an immediate RED card with no VAR required.

In addition to my post about the 2028/29 Nations league and Croatia. Im a senior and not that good with computers. Can the younger generation look into the Nations league changes that will have a direct impact on our future with respect to qualafy for euro and world cup going forward. I did play the game best I could when I could. ANTE I wish there was something eaven close to your sight when I was younger don’t even stop it’s to much important.
Davorin, EURO 2028 qualifying will be the last EURO where you will have 4 or 5 teams per group with everyone plying each team home and away.
From 2028 qualifying for EURO’s and World Cups will different and more like league format similar to UEFA Champions League.
You will have 3 groups of 12 teams in League 1(36 highest ranked teams) and 3 groups of 6 teams in League 2.
In League 1, in a group of 12 teams you will play against 6 teams only, three at home and three away.
UEFA is yet to determine how you qualify for the EURO or the WC?
Maybe for the WC it will be the first 3 or 4 teams from the 3 groups in League 1 that qualify directly while some lower placed teams from League 1 and higher placed teams from League 2 go to play offs.
You need to go to the UEFA site for the explanation, it is long and complex to write it all and explain it here.
But yes, Nations League from now and including the current NL becomes very important for the seeding for the qualifying draws for the EURO’S and the World Cups.
To have an easier draw for the future EURO’S and World Cups it is very important that we stay in Nations League A.
The Nations league was just a friendly international tournament where teams tried new players tactics or win as many games as possible to advance their rankings. Now promotion relegation and just safty for euros and world cup are at stake. Every game effects FIFA rankings seeding pots and future draws. Teams fight to get promoted higher in the groups. We are in the highest group and I believe have been from the start of Nations league group A. If we finish 3rd we will be in pot 1 for euro group seeding OK. We make it to euros OK if things fall our way we could do well. Now the problem if we are not one of the two top best 3rd. place A teams in this Nations league competition we will have to play a two legged tie against a B team runner up to fight to remain in group A . This will have serious consequences in the 2028/29 if we don’t win. The new Nations league format will be the Swill format like the champions league. I’m shure that Bilic the HNS and all players are more than aware of this. Where we place now will have a big influence fo next 2 to 3 yrs. I believe that the new coaching can ceep us where we are which is good Hopefully giving a little time more.

JB
Unfortunately I don’t have any insight on these players, but I am also waiting to hear an answer from our experts to your question.
I think Ilicevic has been discussed or at least mentioned previously on this site, and if I recall the comments were favourable.

Or the Spanish midfielders all coming out with Modric telling them how great they, better than him and keep working
Let’s not forget Perisic begging Yamal for his jersey at HT
It’s all not serious and quite frankly embarrassing
I would have to agree about our players….Way too much ball washing. Prefer the P. Sucic attitude.
Perisic is a greedy dude. He’s thinking about that sports memorabilia resale value down the road.
People are brutally tough on this team . . . wow.
I don’t think Perisic has to worry all that much about the reasale value of a sports jersey. He is a Croatian and international football legend. In any event, I understand he got the jersey for his son.
As for Perisic “begging” Yamal for the jersey, I suppose you can characterize it or spin it that way but . . . Anon, I think sometimes you might have to chill just a bit it. Not alot — this moron enjoys the show — but just a little.
Let’s not forget what Yamal said about Perisic, and maybe that is what should be highlighted on CroatianSports.
Yamal: “Honestly, that was a really nice moment for me. Perišić is a player I’ve watched for a long time, so hearing that from him was special. I gave him my shirt, and he gave me his. . . . It was a great moment, especially coming from a player like Perišić.”
Yamal’s never watched Perisic in his life – I’m sure if u ask him to name one of his goals (other than 2018 final) he wouldn’t be able to name one
It’s just generic blah blah blah
The issue is begging for the jersey at HT in open view – do it in the tunnel where nobody sees or wait till after the game – if u treat the game as competitive I don’t do it until the game is over – that’s 101
Yamal has several jerseys per match so it’s not like he wouldn’t get one
Bad etiquette – just like Bilic not putting his hand on heart during anthem
The optics of it is horrendous

Franjo birthday celebration
They film it showing the day’s itinerary with gives clues v-a-v England
Such GENIUS at work here
Honestly – does anyone have 2 brain cells anymore?
two matches at home? what are expectations. 1 point agianst england and that is it? anyone thinking we should get points against spain is dreaming. anything can happen, but would be miracle to even tie them.
Why would it be a miracle to tie Spain?
Spain has a lot more depth than anyone, so when they benched a few starters they were essentially replaced by players who are on par with them in terms of talent or skill (so there is no dropoff).
We have a talented starting eleven, but we don’t have the depth at every position like Spain do, so we can’t expect to start three brand new players (Beljo, Misic, Smolcic) along with several other backups (Marco, Sutalo, Pongracic) and expect no dropoff. Our dropoff will be much more significant.
If we play England and Spain with our ACTUAL starting eleven (with Baturina, Matanovic, Vuskovic, etc.) then we will be fine.
It will be a close (likely one-goal) game regardless, that will be decided by luck and refereeing.
3 points against England should be expected. Taking points from Spain should be expected too. But anything can happen and you could end up with a narrow loss or draw.
The ref in the Czech game was good, and let everyone play…but the ref in the Spain game allowed Spain to foul all game long and gave half of our players straight yellow cards.
The games will be close, and so long as Matanovic’s hair isn’t too high (to trigger a VAR review) then we will be fine.
Igor’s already said during the presser he’s gonna sport Aedan Scipio‘s hairdo for England
Hopefully it causes the same outcome
I agree with Maminjo on the referee.
As for Davor, who could never be described as floridly optimistic, he is probably not too far wrong here.
We have one “neutral” game without fans, and one true home game in Split, up against the 3rd best and the very best team in the world. We are also a team in transition, with a new coach who is gradually introducing a new generation of players who will be starters over the next two years.
I would take a draw against England. It preserves our ability to go back to England and beat them and if so, we likely come in second. A draw would be a very good result. I’d take it.
As for Spain, that is tough but we might catch them napping just a little and get a result. I like our chances but it won’t be an expectation for this fan, though the players have to start every game with a belief that they can and will win.
However, a result against Spain won’t require a miracle. Maminjo is right.
Look at the evidence.
Exhibit “A”: Davor himself.
I believe it was Davor, in what admittedly might have been an unguarded moment, who allowed that if we play Spain ten times, it will be 2 draws, 1 win, and 7 losses.
We have a 30% chance for a result against Spain?
That might be about right. There is some wisdom in the ol’ Davor. Pessism? Yes. Cynicism? Yes.
Wisdom? Reading his posts and between the lines, I have no doubt of it.
And 30 percent certainly does not call for anything that is quite in the miracle category.
Exhibit “B”: MART.
MART reviews the stats and concludes we can beat the big boys on a good day.
I agree.
Expectations for the next two games in reply to Davor:
6 points – Incredibly fantastic result: A+
4 Points – Fantastic result: A+
2 points – Great result: A
1 point – Very good result: A- (most likely)
Great news everyone
SN reporting Krama rehab hard with Croatia and is almost ready to play 30 minutes for the NT – tbd which of the next two games he gets his chance
Unbelievable – Jagusic stuck with U21 – so that Kramaric can use the NT window to rehab and build back his fitness – that’s after taking a spot during the WC when he was injured – any normal player (like Kudus) if they aren’t fit STAY WITH THEIR CLUB AND TRAIN THERE – they don’t take a spot on the NT – so they can chill with Modric and Perisic
So so selfish from Krama – first the WC – now this window – it’s all about him above the team
And the best part ?
No doubt in November he’ll get 90 minutes in both games and again take a spot from a young talent
The geriatric list – ordered from most expandable to least
Misic
Kramaric and Budimir
Modric
Perisic
Kovacic
jagusic is on bench in greece and some of you think he should be on senior team. this is funny. maybe he should actually do something on the field
Davor –
Lazy as usual.
Pull the playing minutes of all the players called up for the A-team and Jagusic and rank them from highest to lowest
Thx
The goals he scored in the last U21 game are goals that most players on the senior teams of both Croatia or England could never score (even if you gave them 10 tries).
PAO is off to a great 5-win start this season so the coach very likely doesn’t want to change his lineup.
When they start playing the tougher teams, then they’ll start losing and he’ll be more open to changing the lineups more.
But his reasons for not playing Jaga, are not due to a lack of talent from Jaga.

Of course it wouldn’t be positive
It doesn’t magically make it okay/right if you swap a 41 y/o male stranger with a 41 y/o Modric (who is also a complete stranger – just because you watch him kick a ball on the field – don’t mean you know him – especially his 3rd face per Japanese 3-faces proverb)

Istra’s Kumar
Why isn’t he PLAYING for the Croatia A-team yet ?
He’s stuck with the U21 behind Mlacic and Prpic
His main CB partner at Istra Nasraoui made his Tunisia A-team debut yesterday
While Istra’s 3rd choice/other CB Miettinen also has 3 caps for Finland
So
If Istra’s other two CBs are INTERNATIONALS and Kumar can’t play for the U21s (nevermind our A-team) doesn’t that make us MORONS?
The counter argument is Tunisia (57th rank) gave up 2 goals and only tied Botswana (147th rank) 2-2 – but Nasraoui was really responsible for either of the goals (I think he kicked the first one in own net – but it’s not clear, not really his fault)
Check on 90+2 in stoppage time – the Botswana coaches are trying to delay throw in and keep the ball from Tunisia – and the 4th official gets right in there and pushes the large man twice his size Botswana coach straight back like he’s a UFC fighter – never seen a referee be so aggressive

I agree with you on a lot of things but one question, if Spain is so much better then us, yet we are usually in the top 10-20 of the World then how can we not challenge Spain like Cape Verde?
Even the worst teams can play a bunker system that drives Spain nuts but when lose to them it’s like we are ranked 200th in the FIFA rankings.
The biggest issue is that most of the Spanish players player for Barcelona.
You can’t compare National teams in anyway that’s fair. All of our players are across Europe with zero cohesion and trying to get them to play like Barca Spain in a short window is impossible.
Maybe, we can bring back communist HNL so all our players play for Dinamo or Split but I’m sure that wouldn’t be well received.

@Super Slav
The main reasons are that we have coaches who are either too arrogant or tactically dumb to employ bunker tactics against teams like Spain. There is no shame in parking the bus and trying to catch them on the counter.
Best formation would be 5 – 4 -1 with the back five defending deep around your penalty box and not going to far upfield. The same applies to your midfielders.
You need physically fit players that can run all day like when we had Brozovic playing for us in his prime years (2018 WC). You also need some quick players to catch them on the counter when the opportunity arises.
Unfortunately, at present we don’t have the players with the physical attributes to carry out the above tasks.
Some of our current players are too old (on SN podcast they said that Croatia had the oldest squad for this NL), others are physically not fit enough, and some are slow paced.
Let’s also not forget to beat the current Spain you also need luck, lots of it.
Firstly, regarding all of us wanting to win every game, this is a good thing.
I hate loser mentality where we decide we need to throw matches for whatever reason but If we are going to lose a match on purpose and save guys then truly experiment and leave Kova and Ivan out.
Yet, this team has been damaged and stunted by Dalic for many years. Bilic needs time to make corrections and usher in the next generation accordingly.
This won’t happen overnight and we will have to go through some growing pains before things come together.
We also need to disqualify using any player above the age 30 as a striker or other areas.
Start developing all our younger guys for the role. We might never get another Boksic or Suker but 35year old Budimir is a waste of opportunity for the youth.
Besides Kova, Luka, Ivan, no one else needs to have a handicap parking spot on the grounds.
Misic is just another example of someone old who’s done nothing taking up valuable spots the youth can have.
Beljo in my opinion was super slow and looked lazy. Matanovic for me has looked like our greatest threat when considering, size, strength, determination, but sadly hasn’t had the luck yet.
I would rather in invest in him further to see what we really have.
Just have young guys on the bench, being part of the National Team system is learning what it takes to be on the team.
Now the cheating by officials really needs to be addressed.
I feel so bad for all those Manchester City fans, imagine you spent 50 years being a diehard fan knowing you’re the ugly sister in the Manchester Derby, never amounting to anything and watching your cross town rival become a giant.
Finally you create a team that is on pace to surpass your rivals accolades only to find out you cheated and nothing in the last 15years counts.
Match fixing, via paid refs, UEFA, FIFA, or any other organization is the most important problem of the beautiful game.
How many World Cup winners would be truly exposed and have to relinquish their ranking because match fixing was exposed?
How can we watch our beloved country fight like warriors only to be handed the raw deal because the whole system is corrupt?
I’m sorry guys but I’ve beating this drum online for over a decade and I will never stop.
Football needs to be cleaned up, sadly it will never happen until Gods son returns but then it won’t matter.

I think that for the NL matches in November against England and Czechia there will be changes and Bilic will drop some of the current players and bring in some fresh players from the U21’s.
Perisic needs to continue and can still play on to the EURO 2028.
I would be surprised if Kramaric and Budimir will be in the mix for the starting 11 in the foreseeable future ? Maybe Budimir against Spain at Poljud?
Luka Modric could retire in Split against Spain next week or more likely in November at Opus Arena in Osijek against Czechia. I cannot see the point of him continuing beyond the current NL matches.
I agree with MART that the criticism of Sutalo is over the top. I also thought he was okay. I agree with others who say that Gvardiol-Vuskovic-Sutalo-Stanisic is probably the best back line we have right now.
Some good points from Super S.
Baena should have got a yellow card when he deliberately pushed Sucic. Super is right, we aren’t going to get any help from the refs, that’s clear.
Occasionally, there are indeed some player decisions that are tough to understand. Vuskovic not playing in WC after the England game, when he was one of the very best defenders in the Bundesliga, was difficult to understand. Dalic deserves great respect, but it seems Vuskovic starting those games was the right choice on a couple of grounds, BOTH because he was the best player available AND for gaining WC experience that Croatia and the NT will benefit from over the long term, perhaps for 12-15 years.
Vuskovic probably has 15-30 WC games ahead of him over the next 12-15 years. (Pong, at his age, despite his skill and contributions, is not likely to play in WC 2030 and, in any event, doesn’t have a 12-15 year NT runway ahead of him).
Vuskovic was a no brainer.
But perhaps this comment of Super is going too far:
“Yet, this team has been damaged and stunted by Dalic for many years.”
That might not be fair to Dalic. Many years? Eight years ago he takes them to the WC finals. Four years ago they get a fantastic third place finish at WC. This year they came within a hair (literally) of pushing Portugal, a top team who beat Spain in Nations League, into extra time, where anything could have happened. We were right at the cusp of the round of 16. From there we had a tough path forward with Spain sitting right behind Portugal.
The question might best be asked this way: who was stunted over these many years? Which specific young players, aside from Vuskovic, should we have started and played more at WC? Young players were utilized, Baturina played, Petar Sucic was incorporated well. Matanovic got quality minutes and valuable experience. Which youthful player were we going to have on the field to replace Kova? Modric? Kova and Modric, I thought, established good control in the midfield against Portugal. They should have played . . . The Vuskovic decision though, keeping him on the bench, was indeed a mystery.
But overall, I don’t think Dalic stunted the youth, and if so it was not for many years. We have to be a little more generous to Dalic, for all he did.
Another mystery is Misic as Super rightly points out. Misic is an excellent Croatian footballer, a great contributor at Dinamo. I am sure most of us respect Misic’s quality. But bringing him in to the NT at this point in his career, when by common consensus you have to turn the corner to a younger squad, is a mystery.
Bilic, like Dalic, is a smart guy. All I can think of is he just must see things we don’t see, or be aware of some dynamics we are unaware of.
I tell myself that Bilic must have a reason he brought in Misic, a plan, an underlying purpose, a vision. Maybe Bilic wants more time to assess and select the younger players he will become fully invested in, and Misic provides something of a holding pattern for now? Maybe Bilic wants to show the players around the HNL that they can be chosen for the NT?
But Super is right: from where we sit, Misic is a mystery decision. It is indeed hard to understand it.
This early in, however, Bilic probably deserves the benefit of the doubt. He needs time to implement his plan. And we need to give him that time.
We got 3 points from two away matches so I don’t think we should complain too much for being totally outplayed by the best team in the World.
The main object was to beat Czechia in the first match, and we did that and hence have a good chance of finishing no lower than 3rd? and getting a favourable qualifying draw for EURO 2028.
For sure we did not play well and our collective defending as a team was really poor. Livakovic, I thought also had a poor game, one of his worst in a long time.
Poor Pongracic gets blamed every time we lose, the guy has played only one full 90 minutes for Fiorentina this season (cup match) and Bilic puts him in against Spain lol. He was on the standby list but because Elric got injured, he was called up to join the squad. I honestly feel sorry for the guy.
Sutalo also has played only two matches for Lazio this season and I thought he did OK and was better than Gvardiol with three of the goals coming from the left side.
Gvardiol gave too much space to Yamal, and I have no idea why teams in modern football employ zonal defending and have discarded men to men marking. When you come up against guys like Messi, Yamal etc. you need close marking to try stopping them getting the ball. Once they start running at you, they are hard to stop.
Some interesting stats in VL:
Since 2018 we have played 34 matches against Top 10 FIFA ranked countries for
7 wins, 8 draws and 19 defeats.
Stats don’t lie and it shows that we cannot match it with the big boys regularly but can beat them every now and then on a good day.
V V V Vidovic goal vs DC United
Wow wow wow
Funny both Marco (this winter) and Musa (next summer) have both made clear this window in press they are moving back to Europe
Must have got wind that Bilic won’t put up with the MLS kids stuff much longer and they know they need to get the heck out of Dodge
Also – Spain also made 6 changes to their starting XI that played England – so they also fielded a B-squad too
Think we’re over doing this home soil let’s save the best team for Croatia, etc
Can’t we win on the road anymore?
Some of the most historic and memorable wins (Wembley 2007, Istanbul 2011, etc) have come away in hostile environments where we kicked ass and destroyed the opposition
Don’t think we should now all of a sudden be treating away games as some mystic thing we should fear and can’t perform
Is the team wanting to get 2nd? Who goes through the group? Idemo naprijed.

I agree with everyone take on smolcic , I was pleasantly surprised and we have a legit backup to stanisic with him.
I agree pong had a bad game and in my mind was right to be taken off at halftime.
I though today Gvardiol wasn’t bad
Besides that I don’t agree with others with their takes and opinions on the game and overall Bilic situation.
1- I think the Šutalo criticism is over the top esp @ guest comments. How I see the game clearly is a lot different how most of you all see it. I don’t know how you look at the first two goals and be like yeah that’s all on Šutalo. ESP Goal 1, first pasalic is doing nothing not putting pressure on ball carrier or marking his guy he’s in no man’s land, Misic not reading play and slow to react no man’s land and Smolcic is not reading play and also in no man’s land.
It never should have gotten to the point that Šutalo has to now run to a ball in open space. Yes he losses the race to ball Spanish passes it to open player who is wide open because perisic is sleeping and not tracking back.
Pasalic misic Smolcic perisic I would all put ahead of Šutalo for goal one.
Goal 2 which didn’t count cause of offside. AGAIN Misic at fault and now with help from Pongracic as culprits but it’s offside but that’s 2 goals misic.
Goal 3 The header it was a well designed play which the team was slow to react with a perfect pass from one of best players in world. However the ball is in the 6 yard box and our goalie is on his line no where near ready or able cause he’s on his line to get the ball. Every good goalie would have tried to punch that as they would not be standing on their line. Livakovic contributes to our set piece issues.
Goal 4 yes Nico Williams is in open space against a CB and he won. Is Šutalo perfect no, does he deserve criticism surely but it’s too much from what I read.
2- I said when Bilić came out with his squad it was a failure and I was right. Losing is fine losing 4-1 is fine but I don’t see a team moving forward and it starts with Bilić.
We need more youth and he should call more kids from u-21. Misic was a bad call we don’t need budimir or Mario pasalic and we def don’t need modric or perisic. Either we are building for the next tournament or not. Yes perisic has two assists he still has a beautiful cross pin point, but he can’t track back and move forward just like modric. Also modric was poor in last WC so please save your comments we’ll look he scored last game.
We need 11 players all on same page able to do their job fast and move forward and back.
We will never do anything with modric and perisic in lineup not saying we will without them but the sooner we move on the sooner we will figure it out. Klopp called two teams he has in mind build a team for the euros and WC. That’s what we should be doing doing everything to build a team for two years down the line. I don’t agree with modric being a bench guy this team needs to move on. These players need to become leaders and they can’t if old guys are still there.
Perisic and gvardiol don’t work well together don’t communicate well don’t k ow what’s that about.
3- Back line needs to be fixed, this is on coaching previous and present. Pick a backline and stick with it. I find it weird that pong and sutalo played last two tournaments but before both tournaments they didn’t play together in League of Nations or qualifiers but boom they there CB pairing for the tournaments makes no sense. Spain backline very consistent Bilić needs to make a decision and stick to it my take which I’ve previously said is gvardiol as LB Šutalo Vušković as CB and stanisic as RB.
Until any or the others stated are REAL options like Mario vusko mlacic or pavic Šutalo is still best choice.
4- Marco pasalic is def nothing more tha. A sub please end that nonsense.
And final Bilić looked like a smotan on sidelines not much changed since turkey.
