Danijel Pranjić and Bayern Munich have finally come to terms in a three-year deal. Reports out of Munich are also stating that the transfer from Dutch side, Heerenveen, will cost Bayern €7million.
However, the deal almost didn’t go through once again as Heerenveen asked for €7.7 million at the last second when they already knew Bayern had capped a possible Pranjić transfer at €7 million even. So what did Danijel do?
He paid the difference of the cost out of his own pocket to Heerenveen in the amount of €700,00. What an incredible move! This shows how badly Pranjić wanted to get out of the Netherlands and move on with his career. Thank you Darijo for the Goal.com article.
This is fantastic news for Pranjić who will now have the opportunity to play in the top tier of German football as well as Champions League this upcoming season. Staying in the Netherlands one more season would have been disastrous for the Croatian left-back.
Pranjić will also be playing alongside fellow Croatian international Ivica Olić. With Darijo Srna and Josip Šimunić looking for new clubs this summer; can one more Croatian join the party in Munich?
Thanks to Igor in Vancouver BC and Zach G for the early morning articles!
@ciganski Bosanac
On what part of the "Illyrian territory" can I meet with you… take off that mask and show your face! Lets do a world exclusive ciganski bosanac interview on CSR..
@Marko
I am with Marko on this one… "We aren't saying it didn't "MATTER", we're saying it doesn't to America as a whole."
Americans dont care about soccer-football… They never will.. for them, tiger woods is more important than winning the world cup.
However, the victory over Spain was monumental for such a small football nation. This should be a lesson for Croatia. The Americans played with grit, heart and determination. Most importantly, they came together as a unit and played like 1 and swallowed Spain in one gulp..
We aren't saying it didn't "MATTER", we're saying it doesn't to America as a whole. Soccer isn't relevant here and the only time you ever hear about it is if they're in WC, rarely do you ever see CONCAF highlights, U.S. transfers from different clubs, etc. Its just the way it is. Sure they beat Spain (that's great), but they have yet to gain any true support in America like the rest of the world.
On the flipside, it seems like Croatian players seem to settle for smaller amounts of money, relative to players of the same "level". Modric and Pranjic would be good examples. They are worth way more than they are getting but I guess it's all a free market.
I saw the highlights of the US-Spain game and the US seemed very confident like they had nothing to lose. Alot like Croatia against England before the 1-4 loss. Confidence seems to win alot of games. Even the last game against Andorra and Ukraine, the confidence was gone. Maybe the team needs a little slivovica in the water bottles.
If US beating Spain is no big deal then neither was Croatia beating England. I don't know about you, but that seems like a pretty miserable way to be a football fan. Most of us-including the players- were way more pumped up after beating Germany at the euros than Austria or Poland. If you don't care about the US team, fair enough, but for those who do, beating Spain is a big deal for the same reasons.
Srna's statement might be a ploy for more money. Why he seems to love that miserable soviet mining town is beyond me. Plus, it's not like he's going to achieve anything more there.
@ Slaven – Listen, I LOVE Srna. In my mind, Srna can hit a school bus filled with kids and I will blame the kids for getting in Srnas way. But, I think this loyalty by Srna is somewhat like what happened last time he wanted to leave, the club just bumped up his salary and he was content in staying. I love Dario, but, I dont see any 25 million dollar offers. I wish, but, I dont think it will be that high. I can see a 15-20.
I read about Srna's decision. I also heard a rumour Chelsea were offering him 25 million. It's pretty cool to see players not be in it just for the money. Loyalty, pride, passion…he's not a sell out. Class act.
Ciganski Bosanac brings news:
bad news guys..srna in an interview says he wants to fullfill his contract for donetsk and nothing can make him move except the club president..so much for a move
http://www.hns-latest.com/srna-ill-meet-all-my-engagements-to-the-team-fully/
i hear it is Valencia or Zenit for Kalinic. I think Zenit would be the wiser transfer. Kalinic seems in some major rush for some reason despite only just turning 21.
Kalinic should be in the Under 21 team playing alongside Sivonjic who is another player i am amazed doesn't get selected in the Under 21 side. To be honest i don't blame Ante and Denis for not covering the Under 21 team when you see who our strikers are – Krizman, Marko Simic (whose played about 10 game max in his entire career so far), Duje Cop (never played at Hajduk or in Portugal) and Smrekar who didn't impress last season.
We have Tomecak, Sivonjic, Perisic and hugely majorly talented Kramaric who must play in the Under 21's asap as they all have a chance to be national team players one day. The fact Ladic ignores them is baffling. Kalinic also should be banging in the goals in the Under 21 side rather than watching the first team play.
Being a bench player just makes him frustrated. He should be playing as much football as possible at the moment in the Under 21's.
Regards Kalinic playing alongside Villa i doubt that'd happen. Personally i think Nikola Zigic deserves more love at Valencia as he's scored so many goals at Racing. They should give him a chance. I think you'll see Kalinic being used sparsely as a bench player if he goes to Valencia. Also if he struggles its going to be hard for another club to get him out of that contract just like happened with Mate Bilic at Zaragoza. Zenit would be the more sensible move.
Hajduk just played a friendly and Gabric and Ibricic was both there so looks like they might stay this year. Does anyone know the status of Marijan Buljat and if he will stay? I read something on Sportnet about him and Jertec but couldn't interpret it 100%. I think Buljat is a quality player that had his career curtailed by Eduardo. I hope Hajduk aren't about to chuck him as he played well last season.
Spain had not lost in 36 or 37 matches, they were eventually going to lose. I really dont see why people make such a big deal about it. Senegal beating the World Cup and European Champs France a few years back was far more of an upset, or South Korea beating Italy. The Americans love propaganda, if the team didnt win, you wouldnt find any news on the game what so ever, they only cover sports or news that reflect well on them.
KALINIC, my boy, the one I alway defended on this site will have his time to shine now. I wear my Kalinic Hajduk jerseys with allot more pride now.
Ciganski Bosanac brings news:
I am away till the end of August for i am going to the Illyrian territory in the evening of the 26 June
i know u'll all miss my comments
@Ciganski Bosanac
good stuff..
I also dig the title "Ciganski Bosanac brings news"
Hopefully Hajduk doesnt lose any of its semi-stars… otherwise another cake walk for Dinamoooooooo
I'm by no means an American national fan, but it's just in their nature to get all hyped up. People have been saying for the past 2 decades soccer/football will be relevant in the U.S. sooner or later. They said it when the women's team won in '98 or Beckham heading to the Galaxy. It's just part of the process I suppose. People want to believe that soccer will be important in America. But American Football is too ingrained in U.S.'s society. Hell Hockey was extremely popular until the lockout, now they're struggling to get awareness and fans in the seats. Anyway, if America ever wants to have soccer be relevant EVER, they need to make MLS a legitimate league, which to put it bluntly won't happen for decades, if ever.
Good stuff Bosanac!
I'll try to put up the story today. I've just been so busy at work.
I also wanted to write a little something on the US-Spain game and how's it's really not that big of a deal. All the sports writers are making it out like America won the World Cup.
Would anyone be interested in debating on that topic?
Ciganski Bosanac brings news:
Nikola Kalinic tightly linked with Valencia and might be paired up with Villa next season

The only thing that Ladic has done that has made any sense was when he said the League of 16 was a terrible idea and that far to many of our U-21s dont get enough playing time during the season. Aside from that, hes been a disaster.
Could you do a story about the prva liga teams that are in qualifying for the world cup?
Hopefully the first U21 news on CSR reads: Ladic sacked!
@ Marko,
I've been thinking about it recently actually. Remember that CSR is only 16 months old. Any and all suggestions are welcomed. And I like this one.
Of course, the Croatia U-21 team would be front page news had they qualified for the U-21 EuroCup. But you will start seeing them around the site. I promise.
@Slaven,
The Russian league started to implement this 6+5 rule where only up to 5 foreigners are allowed on the field (not sure starting lineup or at any time). As is expected, Spartak chose not to waste a foreigner slot on the goalkeeper, that is why Pletikosa got benched.
@ Marko – I mentioned that quite sometime ago. I proposed that we start a petition to remove Ladic as the coach. I like following the U-17, Ivan Gudelj is an amazing coach. Check out his record as coach, speaks for itself.
Btw I was wondering why is there lack of coverage for U-21 team on here. I realize the amount of news for the national team, but the U-21 is instrumental for the future as well. Just curious is all. 🙂
Well they scored when it counted. Spain just couldn't get through US's defense and when they did it would either get blocked or saved by Howard. Just an overall great performance by them. Fun to see a bit of excitement back in the states. (Hello ESPN, yes that is 'football', oops soccer).
@ Slaven,
I gotcha now. I thought you were talking about Pletikosa and Heerenveen in the same sentence. Yes Pleti will be out this summer. It must happen!
I caught the second half of the USA-Spain match.. USA 2 shots on Goal and 2 Goals.. unbelievable.. Thats soccer sometimes.
Yes I watched the US-Spain match. Spain dominated all the chances but couldn't get any decent shots on frame. The American had a fluke 2nd goal. What was that Spanish defender thinking?
USA just beat Spain 2-0. Guess that 35 game unbeaten streak goes poof!
Classy club…great way to reward your best player for his loyalty. Of their top players, only Pranjic stayed for the 08-09 season- and without him, the club would never have gotten a Europa league spot this year. Oh, and all those goals he scored for the club helped increase his transfer value( ie, more money for the club). Evidently, Heerenveen have a big reputation for this crap- they are notorious for haggling over transfers. I suppose Pranjic should have negotiated a buy-out clause into his last contract.
Yes it's short for Pletikosa. Spartak benched him for no reason and that caused him to not start against Ukraine in Zagreb.
Pleti? As in Stipe Pletikosa?
Was this a type-o Slaven?
Heerenveen management are douchebags.
It's good Pleti is leaving that club.
Pletikosa's agent has confirmed that he will be leaving Spartak this summer. Potential destinations are Monaco and Hamburg.
I'm happy for Pranjic but shame on Heerenveen for making a player who has served them well fork out hundreds of thousand of euros to realise a transfer. Sheesh!
