With the World Cup only four months away, it’s time to talk about who from CroatianSports.com will be in Brazil for the big bash.
Unfortunately, Denis and I will not be headed to South America. However, both of us will be part of the planning committee for Los Angeles’ first ever World Cup Village, which will be hosted in our home town of San Pedro. We will be inviting Croatians from all over California and North America to come watch the World Cup opener with us against Brazil on an enormous television screen which will tower over a closed 6th Street in San Pedro. Thereafter, I will head to Croatia for the Mexico match, reporting from Dubrovnik with Dr. Colin O’ Haravić.
Use this post to coordinate plans for Prva Generacija whether you be in Brazil, Croatia, North America or Australia. The greatest accomplishments (in my personal opinion) that CroatianSports.com has achieved is meeting members for the first time in person and sharing some good ‘ol conversation over a drink. And this should be an ongoing thing whether Denis or I are a part of it.
@oluja
Well said my friend. Too funny and so true.
i might be a pussy, but a comfortable pussy.
Ziva: “@anonymous……….your comments about hate speech and
being subjected to financial terrorism for your SPEECH is something else that has nothing to do with the Suspension Simunic situation.”
Yes it does, Joe was essentially suspended for “hate speech” & has been subjected to vocational, reputational, & financial terrorism for his SPEECH.
————
Ziva: “Me, I don’t give a shit about freedom of speech or being persecuted for it or having to deal with consequences for it. I live a quiet life in the fortified basement and I don’t involved in situations that can be damaging to my career or – for that matter- my tv viewing.”
If you don’t “give a shit about freedom of speech”, then why do you keep making excuses for the suppression of it? What if you got put in a cage for justifying/promoting the suppression of free speech? Would you give a shit then? Do you realize the founders of the United States literally KILLED for free speech – it’s the very 1st Amendment of the United States founding document – the Constitution.
———————–
Ziva: “I’ll say it again. I live a “za dom……spremni” lifestyle just like Suspension Simunic, but I am not dumb enough to say something in public that can be twisted by individuals or media that will make me miss the most important opportunity in my lifetime. Suspension Simunic was dumb enough for that to happen. Plus, instead of celebrating with teammates, he decided to go solo and the ego got the best of him.”
I’ll say it again, you talk out of both sides of your mouth. If you not only don’t stand up for free speech, but actually make excuses for the suppression of it, then you are OBVIOUSLY being delusional if you think you’re “living a za dom premni lifestyle” – if the only “free speech” you practice is in private w/ like minded individuals, b/c you’re afraid of what might happen to you outside those confines, then you don’t have “free speech” and you’re a fucking pussy.
Man I haven’t posted on here forever! I’m going to the Brazil v Cro & Mexico v Cro games! I have 2 extra tickets to sell in the croatia supporters section of the brazil v cro game.
@SeattleNate
I’m also going to the Brasil and Mexico games. I’m down for meeting up and drinking excessive amounts of alcohol before the match.
Eduardo and Sammir to get drunk everyday in Brazil and hitting the clubs during the World Cup.
I have no idea what sport any of u are talking about
did something happen in some sport in some country like america that no one else cares about ?
And no trapezoid! I agree. Full ice time.
Thank you and the rest of our gracious brah’s down south!
Surprised Bylsma wasn’t able to get some better matchups out there being the home team and having last change.
Seemed like the States just couldn’t gain our zone and we were still creating in transition.
I like this big ice way better!
Players have out grown the small NHL surface.
1-0 games in the NHL rarely have this kind of flow to it.
Dudes come on! The title of this post is Prva Generacija at the World Cup. It’s not “Tell us your rehashed opinion on Simunic”, or, “what do you think of a potential war in Bosnia”. Maybe those topics deserve their own posts, but let’s stay on task.
Who is going to World Cup? Who wants to get together and drink excessive amounts of alcohol before the match?
This thing is not letting me post real time. I said it in another post.
Congratulations to America’s top hat and socialist stepchild! US got out-coached. Good luck against Sweden.
Ante B. where you at?!
Condolences…
Not a classic but we’ll take it.
Finally played with some jump.
Is the drawing for the euro 2016 groups this Sunday? I wonder what our group is going to look like? There is a possibility that a lot of ex yugo countries can be in the same group!

a MUST READ piece on my man Luka:
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/26290691
lol.. poglavnik..
im basically the same..
i actually need to drink at least a bottle of vodka BEFORE our games because i get too nervous otherwise.. i srsly can’t watch us if im not wiped out.. im a lot like u except for the “having a girlfriend” part.. lol : )
No war will happen as stated people in BiH are down right depressed. No prospects, economy sucks, no money and people are hungry. If anything they rebel and protest against the vlada. Also don’t think the Hercegovci have it better. Tough for them as well. Dayton accord created one big mess and not sure how they get themself out of this.
WE MUST DRAW UP PLANS TO SEIZE HERZOG-BOSNA.
I only wish the world cup was in europe so we would have major support and the ZDS chants were clearly audible on the TV for the world to hear!
@ Ivica,
I’m pretty certain that it was wasn’t the HNS that fined Simunic, rather ministar Jovanovic and co. Either way, Joe is smart enough to have not paid it and by doing so admitting guilt…
@Ivica-Some good points about Simunic.
I have sobered up since my last post, look Ziva does in fact want Cro to do well at the world cup,its just that his thought patterns dont work like yours or mine. This is a possible scenario detailed below.
1) Brazil score first,1-0.Ziva smiles because he put “smart “money on Brazil to win.
2)Cro have turned up to play and Rakitic and Modric set up the equalising goal between them with Olic “tapping in”Ziva is pretty glad to see this and stands to clap. You ,me and the Diaspora go ape.
3)Eduardo comes on in the 2nd half early on and scores the winner to make it 2-1 with 10 to go.Ziva says “Yay”,and mutters” Za dom spremni”to himself, but sees his “smart” money go up in smoke,so he feels mixed emotions for the win and his lost $50 at the same time. You ,me and the diaspora are in hysterics because we just won our world cup!!!!!!!!!!!!
ZIVA LIVES A “ZA ZIVA SPREMNI”LIFESTYLE AND THATS ABOUT IT.
@ivica…….suspension Simunic can take it to court, but it still won’t help him get to Brazil. It sure doesn’t help him when his own federation and the government officials for the country he represents condemned him for his actions. He should have been smarter. I don’t go into a Jewish chamber of commerce meeting and talk about the exploits of the ustase. I save all the ustase talk and songs for cro weddings, cro functions and after hours gatherings in the fortified basement. Who knows, all of this is probably a positive. Seeing how suspension Simunic couldn’t control himself and put his ego first makes me think we are better without his undisciplined ways in Brazil.
hopefully the situation in bosnia resolves itself. but the state is very poorly set up and loosely held together. whenever you have a mix of poor economic conditions and different nationalities loosely held together, it leaves a lot of opportunity for things to combust. the economic situation WILL NOT get better either for a long time, so the fuse will continue to be lit
I, fortunately will be in my own fortified basement getting shit-faced, and doing as many drugs as i damn well please.
I enjoy focusing on the game with a select few (in a drunken, stoned stupor) and not being in big crowds of annoying people.
As always though, great work CSR!
You are a credit to the human race!
A typical tourney for me (Euro ’08 for example) ended with me passed out under the coffee table for hours, face in my hands with tears in my eyes.
My girlfriend, being the great woman she is, just tip-toed out the house without saying a word.
Lets hope we can all hold our heads up high after this one!

@Ziva
What Simunic did was not stupid. It was something that he believed in and I’m sure you can agree that the slogan represents more than UEFA’s perception of it, and that it is something that someone should NOT be penalized for saying.
The difference between Simunic and you is that you are not a pioneer. You choose not to be that first person to do something risky, as it usually comes with consequences. You live a Za Dom Spremni lifestyle, but you won’t be the trailblazer of it. This is fine. I myself probably wouldn’t be the first to do something like that either (ie. like Boban did with that kick back in 1990).
But this doesn’t make them egotistical, selfish, nor dumb. Maybe a little dumb, if they have that type of personality where they act before they think…but it definitely isn’t something you should be criticizing them for and poking fun at their suffering, especially if it is something you stand for as well.
Personally, I’m glad he did it, as he can make a strong case for it in court based on historical facts and not perception. It’s the only way to lift this stigma. I’m just really upset with the HNS for giving him that fine. It just fueled the false perception.
@ vatrena
True.
If anything, these riots will probably end up uniting Bosna more than creating a divide.
Those cedos in RS are poor as shiite, Their Republika is doing nothing for them, and Dodik’s rhetoric is getting stale. Bosnjaci are also in poor standing. Croats tends to be in better shape (mainly due to those Hercegovci all working abroad, plus everyone has EU passports there now) but they wield no power in BiH due to their small numbers.
Ziva you knows you drink me to drive more every days cause you dont learn good
My arse you live “the za dom spremni lifestyle”you reckon you do not true you bet against croatai cause you say its “smart “money bs i say to all its the dumbest dirty money i dont want it.its all you not za dom liar
Ivica……incorrect my friend, incorrect. I want Puppet Suker gone, but I also want us to perform well at the World Cup. Now, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if we did implode and the puppet was gone. But I want us to perform well. Shit, I am not flying over there hoping to see us lose. I want a triptych o the knockout stage.
Why is that so complicated for people to understand?
Vatrena cast,
I don’t think so either. No war or hatred. People are just tired, hungry and want to work but can’t.
Ivica,
The only part I think you’re wrong about is replacing Suker as trivial. It’s that type of attitude that is slowing down the effort. In American sport, if you change baseball then you essentially change America. That reigns true for Croatia and nogomet. I for one would be for Dinamo not being first if Mamic and his mafia were gone. It’s about sacrifice. The whole “it’ll never change” mantra has to be changed both in the domovina and dijaspora. HNS needs to go and that includes both Mamic and Suker.
For all of you living in the diaspora, I’m certain that the opposition in BiH is funding everything that you are seeing on the portals and possibly the news. Typical power struggle.
BTW, I heart trolls on this site…
@anonymous……….your comments about hate speech and

I don’t think there will be a war. From what I’ve read and heard from zenica the people are tired of war and what not. They just want a better life, wether it’s the muslimani, hrvati or srbi. They just want a better life and are done with this hatred and bullshit.
Ziva, man, you live a “za dom…kurac” lifestyle.
The only people you antagonize and deprecate are your own. That’s the only thing that makes you happy.
If you had a choice for us to win the World Cup in Brazil OR for us to lose all three group stage games and be humiliated…you would prefer the second option just so you can take pleasure in something trivial like Suker being embarassed and potentially replaced. But it’s not like it would be any different with the next person that replaces him. You would just sit and hope to find a fault, use it as your rationale for cheering against Cro, and (yet again) hope for more failure. Rinse and Repeat.
@ jm
The Bosnian war of the ’90s was fueled by ethnic hatred and Serbian aggression. Today’s civil unrest is between the government and people–who are disillusioned with the system.
So I doubt a ’90s like ethnic war will break out. It’s mostly civilians expressing their discontent.
Also, the world community would never allow a “Croatian Anschluss.”
Rakitic with a nice assist in Maribor today
Rakitic with a nice assist in Maribor just now.
@nepoznat
good read on Luka, thanks for posting
Anyone who uses the h in ustasa needs to learn the language.
Ziva Istina: “Ummmm, you do understand there are consequences for free speech, right?”
If there are “consequences for free speech”, such as being put in jail for “hate speech”, being subjected to financial terrorism for your SPEECH, etc, then the speech isn’t free. Do you understand that you fucking moron?
You keep saying you agree w/ what Simunic said while at the same time agreeing w/ the suspension. You’re a double thinking moron.
Im not sure there’s going to be too many Cameroonis at Manaus …
Sure, any chance we can get in picking up a kid who cant speak the langauge and where the Cro savez has had no involvement in his development is a must get.
isn’t the savez occupied with trying to bring in Second-Choice Sertich and teaching him how to at least speak like an N. American diaspora hrvat.
the repka should get on this. i doubt as a 20 yr old he can make the german senior squad any time soon. opens the door for the hns to swoop in
Luka is the 12th Best Dribbler in the Champions League according to Deadpsin:

lastest I found on Toljan:
http://americansoccernow.com/articles/jeremy-toljan-is-earning-minutes-at-hoffenheim
for now any talk of him switching to play for the United States (or Croatia) is moot since Toljan is happy playing for Germany. He did, however, leave the door slightly ajar in the future.
“For me this question never occurred,” Toljan said. “I enjoy playing for the youth teams of the German federation. I guess the possibility is given, but I never heard anything of any other federation.”
I added the (or Croatia) bit
Interview with Kovac: http://gol.dnevnik.hr/clanak/nogomet/reprezentacije/kovac-otkrio-koja-je-prednost-hrvatske-protiv-brazila—324279.html
thought i posted this before. will try again. while on the topic of the cro war of independence, it seems the situation in bosnia is not getting enough play. the protests their have intensified and with a very weak central authority, I think the chances of further uprising and civil war are becoming ever more likely. this will create huge potential issues for cro as 1) you could have another huge refugee situation of bosnian croats pushing into croatia. a country that already can’t provide a framework for its people to do well in 2) as bosnia splinters, you’ll have the question of what happens with the territories. does cro expand into bosnia? probably not is my guess as it wouldn’t be allowed. and cro prob can’t really handle it any way
Hajduk kicked some Udinese ass yesterday.
since there was a mention of battles in croatia on this page, i think it worth to mention that conflict could be very likely to hit the balkans again. i think bosnia is in a very precarious position and outbreak of a civil war again is an extremely real possibility. this is an ongoing trend between the arab spring and now even eastern europe with ukraine. this will potentially have dramatic effects on croatia as the question will arise as to what to do with the huge croatian population in the area. you have the potential for another widespread migration of refugees into cro, which can be very troublesome considering cro can’t even support its own population right now. then there is the question if bosnia truly fails, does croatia expand its borders. probably very unlikely to be allowed by western powers
Anyone gunna be in Astoria, NY for the opening game??
Also, let it be known that I have nothing against what Suspension Simunic said. Afterall, I live a “za dom…..spremni” lifestyle. But, Suspension Simunic took the spotlight off the team and put it selfishly on himself.
Ummmm, you do understand there are consequences for free speech, right? You, my friend, have every right to go out and say what you want. For example you have the right to go to a local city council meeting and express your thoughts on any topic. Let’s say you speak about gay rights (you pick if you are for them or against them), but your employer has the right to not want you to work for them if they consider your thoughts to be “too controversial”. I don’t know why that is so hard for you to understand.
Our actions all have consequences.
Ziva: “Suspension Simunic”
You are a typical moral coward, you say you believe in free speech, then make every excuse for the suppression of free speech.
The fact is you can SPEAK about politics at work when what you SPEAK is POLITICALLY CORRECT.
However, if you SPEAK against the state religion of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, you are subjected to financial terrorism.
That IS suppression of free speech.

@TO Cro-Thanks for the story.I have just started to read it.Looks intersting.Nothing new,but I like to keep refreshed with this stuff.
I will read it to Ziva tonight as a bedtime story.I dont like his “smart “money thinking on betting against Cro in games he thinks they will lose .People died so that he can make these bets against Cro.Its the filtiest money I can imagine.Screw his emotion crapp, some things are just bent to think or post.Soon we will play whats likely our biggest ever game aginst Brazil to open the WC.What an honour and stage. Can we beat them?????I say Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! screw Zivas “smart “money bets.I would rather rot in hell.I will watch him slowly drift off as I read the historical story to him and the punch him in the friggin nose (hard and twice)
@T.O.Cro-Thanks for the post about the historical article.I have just started to have a read through it.Its nothing new,but appears interestingly written.I always like to refresh a little on these things and to try and understand more.
Ziva likes me to tuck him in at night, and I am going to read it to him as a bedtime story.
I need to change his thinking about “smart money betting”where he likes to state that he is happy to make “smart”bets against Croatia in games that they are unlikely to win. This then causes him to root against cro for a few pennies.I want to show him why sport to our people is more than just sport. How people have died so that he can make his “smart “money bets against Cro.Maybe he will see at some point how its truly dumb money that I would never put in my pocket.
The Brazil game to open the world cup is probably the biggest( or close to it) that our country will have played so far.One could argue that “smart”money should go on Brazil. They would be obvious favourites.Could we beat them,I say YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would rather rot in hell than take the smart money bet on that one.Screw Zivas emotion crapp, that is just bent to want to be that way.
I will gently read the story to him and watch him and watch him drift off to sleep and then punch him in the fucking nose.
Last I heard there were only 420 Hrvati attending the “Rumble in the Jungle” vs. Cameroon. Now how can we get the local population on our side? So they can cheer us on.
Perhaps the Vatreni can gather $25,000 of their own funds and donate to the local hospital or school in that godforsaken region. That would be some excellent PR in the build up to the match. Get the locals on our side.
I’ll be at Croatia-Brazil and Croatia-Mexico, couldn’t convince those I’m traveling with to journey all the way to Manaus for Cameroon.
is this prva generation or ziva generation?
…Unless you don’t count the Ustasha Croats who live in Argentina and Brazil to this day. The Andronico Luksic and Juan Vucetich types.
(Ignorant examples on my part. The Luksici were not Ustashe, and Vucetich was a 30 year old immigrant to Argentina who died well before WWII)
I’m making plans to head to San Pedro this summer for the Brazil and Cameroon game. I like the planning already Ante! Am I allowed to bring the NY tradition of drinking a shot of jager before the game?
Minimal fines and maybe nothing for chanting za dom. It happens all the time and I think we have received fines of something like 25,000 swiss franc in the past.
It won’t matter anyway. Looking at ticket sales, it doesn’t appear there will be too many hrvati in Brazil for our games anyway.
question for everyone. what fine/penalty do you think cro will get from fan action in brazil? is there any doubt they will chant “za dom”?
This has trouble written all over it, the good kind that is.
Invite Suspension Simunic to the street fest since he wont be playing in the World Cup.
Since he won’t be playing in it, you should invite Suspension Simunic to the street party.
not making it to Brasil but I hope to make it to the Hrvatski Zemlja here in NJ if they have a combination feast / big screen for the game
In case my first post didn’t post.
