The fact that Luka Modrić and Real Madrid did not lose to Manchester City by 3+ goals should be considered a miracle in itself. City were the better team from start to finish and came out of the gate hot, scoring twice in the first 10 minutes of the match to show who was boss. However, the English Premiership leaders never put the game away (and they could have on multiple occasions) giving Real Madrid hope. Both defenses looked utterly pathetic on the day – especially Real Madrid – which is how we got to a 7-goal Champions League semifinal. Real Madrid are 100% still in it and should consider tonight’s 1-goal loss a huge moral victory.
Modrić had one of his most average games of the season in midfield as RM never got into a proper flow offensively. He received a 6/10 from ManagingMadrid as he was “Quiet in the first half was overrun like most of the team, but found his footing in the second including a lovely nutmeg on Bernardo Silva followed by a through ball to Benzema.”
All is still to play for next Wednesday in Madrid.
Luka Modrić was legendary against PSG in the Round of 16. Luka Modrić was legendary versus Chelsea in the quarterfinals. Now, Luka Modrić will once again have to be legendary against Manchester City – arguably the best club team in the world – if he wants to play in his fifth Champions League Final.
Tuesday night in Manchester, City and Real Madrid will lock horns at 3PM (ET) in the 1st leg of the Champions League semifinals. City are on track to secure another Premiership crown, however, it’s the CL trophy they really want. Benzema and Modrić – both in their mid-3os – have put Real Madrid on their backs this European campaign. Modrić is already 4/4 in Champions League finals since coming over from Tottenham a decade ago and would cap off an already MONSTER season if he could do it again.
Manchester City are -200 in Vegas to win this game.
even Modric was an AVERAGE in that intense game!|
imagine if we have an opponent like Manchester City …
what will Lovren and someone like Livakovic/Grbic do?
by the way, Jesus was the best player so far! }{as I tought}
What national team is built like man city? I think we’ll be ok
Exactly
What national team can take Madrid man city or even Liverpool??
Maybe a one off match
France?
Our “we” isn’t your “we”. Mrš
I love Ancelotti, but you can’t start Kroos against City.
Asking too much of Modrić.
Exactly what I was thinking…he’s is way too slow.
Tony “Kroos Control”
Well it’s only 1-0 really so they can definitely do this and are going home for the return leg
Luka will be on fire for it!
Modric, from MARCA: A rare occasion on which he looked unsettled off the ball, but he was still superb in the rare moments he was on it.

Managing Madrid: Luka Modric—6: Quiet in the first half was overrun like most of the team, but found his footing in the second including a lovely nutmeg on Bernardo Silva followed by a through ball to Benzema.
(……Seven Real players had a score of under 6.)
Modric struggled tonight, too bad, wanted to see some magic from him. He had very few touches. Madrid’s defense was awful. Lucky it was only 4-3.
Chelsea interested in Gvardiol as replacement for Antonio Rüdiger.
Kind of sounds funny referring to Gvardiol as Rüdiger’s “replacement”, since he’s worth more than 10 Rüdigers.
Why the hell would Real even bother with Rüdiger? Just go after Gvardy.
I told the real forum cause they were talking about positions they want help with
They wanted cbs and a cdm
Most didn’t know who gvardiol was and when I said brozovic they said aging and not worth it
I wanted to say. Too bad about wanting to win more champions leagues;)
Well Gvardiol only blew up this year, so most football fans (especially fairweather fans that follow Real) wouldn’t know much about him yet.
If we have a good tournament at the World Cup, he will be heavily sought after.
I think guys like Tuchel and Chelsea want to get ahead of that, and see if they can snag him in the summer.
Rudiger is an incredible player. Very very good. Gvardiol is not worth 10 rudigers dont be so ridiculous. Rudiger is top five centre backs in the world. Insane speed, aggression, mentality. Gvardiol would be his replacement because rudi is leaving Chelsea. Come on. And gvardiol is 20 with a single top 5 league season under his belt
You’re just saying that because Rudiger is black.
Also, Gvardiol is faster than Rudiger. So, I think you need to stop being being racist Mr. Crnkovic. 🙂
No it has nothing to do with that, Rudiger is exceptional and I don’t think we should fall into the trap that British fans do which is to overestimate ourselves where we shouldn’t. Gvardiol is great, but young still, and I think he has potential to be a great Centre Back if not one of the best. But right now he doesn’t even fall into the top 20 and that’s simply because of experience. Rudiger is a player that has plenty of that and personally I like the way he plays. Croatia could use a player as good as that in my opinion, along with players like Ruben Dias, Joao Concello, Thiago Silva, Alaba, Elder Miltao and the like who are all amazing to watch on the ball and with what they do.
So, no it has nothing to do with race but simply statistics and how well players like him play. Look up your stats next time and read a few articles maybe.
Football isn’t played by looking at stats, rudiger isn’t great. The comparison to gvardiol (at 20) is probably closer than you think
LOL Militao
I know you are joking maminjo it’s fine. I’m not underestimating gvardiol at all. He is an exceptional talent. And already world class. I absolutely love gvardiol and have been a huge fan of his since before he broke into the dinamo first team. But I dont like the tendency of some on this site to put other players down in order to promote our boys. I’ve never liked it, it’s a stupid mentality. I dont understand it. Just respect quality. Rudiger has been absolutely immense this season at Chelsea. He has been their best player and surprises me every time I watch him. He’s quicker than gvardiol btw. Like I said gvardiol is a superior talent ultimately but rudi is also a monster defender
Luka rested this past weekend to be ready for Real Modrić @ City.
Ancelotti has to start Valverde and Casemiro next to Modrić.
Kroos and Camavinga bringing fresh legs in the second half.
Rodrigo and Vini on the wings with Benz up top.
Courtois needs to have a couple of big time saves today.
I actually see City as more skilled but less physical than Chelsea.
Better match up for Real.
Luka has yet another epic golasso?
