Since Serie A’s restart in June, Ante Rebić has scored four goals in five matches; with AC Milan winning every game Rebić has scored in. They only dropped points in a 2-2 draw against SPAL. Tuesday night, AC Milan came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus 4-2. And you guessed it, Rebić scored once again. AC Milan now only sit two points out of a Europa League berth with seven matches remaining in the Serie A season.
Milan was absolute trash the first half of the season and were in the bottom half of the table. Now they are on absolute fire and could earn a European berth, and much of that praise has to go to on-loan striker Ante Rebić. Rebić rode the bench for the majority of 2019 after coming over on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt. Now he’s one of the hottest goal scorers in Italy, only behind Ronaldo.
Rebić goal makes it 4-2 vs. Juve
And 22 year-old Nikola Vlašić isn’t far behind Rebić as far as scoring goes since the COVID football restart in Europe. Vlašić assisted on CSKA’s first goal Wednesday night and then scored the second – putting in a low shot inside the far post – in a 4-0 victory over FC Orenburg. Vlašić has now scored four goals for CSKA Moscow in their last three games; which they have all won. With nine points from three games, CSKA have pulled themselves up to Champions League contention. They currently sit in the last CL qualifying spot for Russia, but FC Krasnodar are only one point behind them with two games in hand.
Vlašić assists and scores for CSKA Moscow
Ustase a pretty common pronunciation. I can’t bother to spell pavelic name right on the phone auto Swype
@Truth
You’re gonna write ustaše instead of ustaša and Pavelević instead of Pavelić and preach about Croatian?!? By the way, your leftie trolling was amusing, although painfully deliberate and obvious at first, but it’s gotten old. I found your kite boarding schtick much funnier.
You are an idiot truth
Grandkid be punished for what grandfathers may or may not have done
Drop kick
My favourite word to my kids is Mrz
hahaha….
nos ću ti razbit…
nemoj me jebat u zdrav mozak…
ma jebem ti…
ajde u tri pićke materine…
dobit ćes degenik…
some other swear words not from my dad
nabijem te na kurac…
mamu ti jebem…
On another note, it seems like that Argentina’s grandfather was straight ustase… not sure we should take the grandkid in the team… then again suker posed in Front of the grave of pavelevic before becoming a soccer exec and then rightfully apologizing
Children not speaking Croatian is a failure of the parents
Without speaking Croatian the kids will never be able to achieve a full connection with Croatia
In our household we didn’t speak any English with the kids till 5. They answer in English, it was a simple ne razumijem back to them
They wanted something, theyd have to say the Croatian words if they wanted to get anything from us
And it’s the only way to do it… immersion and force them to say the words… a lot of parents get their kids to understand the language but the kids cannot speak… still a failing grade
Agreed on šaku u nos. Nogu u guzicu was a popular one with my father as was, glavu ću ti izstućit/razbit/slomit and his all time favourite – Idi u kurac.
Another one was if I said something stupid his response was – da te niko ne čuje.
Croats are losers lmao
Long live Yugoslavia!
Yes Croatia U14 that’s the guy ,not that I don’t appreciate your work vuki…or the informed opinions of others on here.
Um Pussylick is still a douche.
You don’t use Croatia unless you
Pledge to her. A curse on his cleats.
Also, it’s kind of pitiful that people still come on this site and hate on Christian Pulisic. He was never going to play for Croatia. I’m from an area in Pennsylvania close to where Pulisic is from. There is a pretty decent-sized Croatian contingency here. It’s a pretty tight-knit community and I had never really heard of him until he was coming onto the scene at Dortmund. He has Croatian heritage, but he does not celebrate it the same as those of us on this site who weren’t born in Croatia but still see themselves as Croatian-American, Croatian-Canadian, etc. He wasn’t raised in it like myself and many others around this area. He sees himself as American first and that’s fine if you ask me.
On the other side of this, I saw people mad that the HNS helped him get citizenship. There is nothing wrong with that either. Their job is to try to build the best team possible. Part of that is trying to recruit the best players whether they are born in the country or not. Some people may not like that they do it, I’m not sure how to feel sometimes either. But my feeling is the same as it was the last time this topic came up. So long as the players WANT to play for Croatia and see themselves as Croatian and don’t just choose Croatia because they can’t make it onto a ‘bigger’ team like Germany or Brazil then cool, they’re a Croatian player to me. You can see an example of this with Eduardo da Silva. MAYBE he initially felt he should choose Brazil, but ultimately chose Croatia and was a great servant to the country. If he didn’t have that bad injury he might just have been the best striker we’ve ever had, who knows. Also, just because he chose Croatia doesn’t mean he denounced his Brazilian heritage, just like I don’t think Pulisic denounces his Croatian heritage he just doesn’t celebrate it as his first heritage as we do.
Maminjo…the voice of reason!
@Pero
I’m assuming you mean either vuki or CroatiaU14. If you mean vuki, that’s me. I haven’t done Young Player of the Week in a while because the virus kind of made updating the stats spread sheet a more than once a week thing. I was actually planning to update it within the next week. I talk to CroatiaU14 pretty often as we play FIFA together every so often. Maybe we could do the young player of the week thing again if people are interested in it and I could post an article so people can find it easier. It was just slightly more difficult as players play 2-3 games in a week so it would be much harder to choose standout players. Let me know what you guys think.
Why are we wasting time and ink on these 2 guys who will never play for the checkers?
I miss that guy who would update us weekly on young TRUE Croatian prospects.
Curious as to where he went ?
Well either way, if your MexiCroat kids became athletes, I wouldn’t close the door on them.
Pulišić is from Hershey, which has a pretty active Croatian community. His dad is a New York Croat who named his kid Christian “Mate” Pulišić.
My guess is that hanging out with a Croatian community may seem as lame to him. Lots of teens are like this. But it doesn’t mean that he’s any less Croat.
He’ll grow up, and appreciate it. It’s too bad we couldn’t cap him first, but that’s OK. Just keep helping out these diaspora Croats with citizenship and their footballing careers, and it will pay dividends.
😉
dobit ceš šaku u nos …is essential!
I started with the key words and phrases.
Šuti, nemoj, šaku u nos.
Next thing you know they’re picking it up.
If you can publicly scold your child in Croatian and they understand you, you’re doing alright.
my kids are second generation Canadian/Croatian and they barely speak it because my wife isn’t Croatian and my parents are both gone….but they can sing Jelena Rozga, Slavonske Lole, Thompson…they call my brother stric or striko and wear Croatia shirts/t-shirts…they’re very proud of they’re roots because I tell them about what Croatia and Croatians are and I play music for them….we make cevape/raznice/grah/pita/ajvar and a few other things I learned how to cook over the years.
I don’t think I’m special or that my kids are special…I’m probably not doing a good enough job teaching them our language tbh but they love everything Croatian and I feel like this is how it starts! They differentiate themselves from the average Canadian because they eat different foods, they enjoy Croatian music, they belong to a us Croatians…they attend catechism to help me teach them values….
I’m guessing guys like Pulisic didn’t hear a Croatian word from his dad so he could never identify. The more my kids learn about Croatia the more they feel attached to being Croatian!
Everybody’s expectations are too high for these guys.
I think you’re all forgetting that Miljevic and Pulisic are still just a couple of kids.
Pulisic was interviewed about Croatia when he was 17 years old. Most 17 year-old American kids are BRAIN DEAD. I don’t think we should be holding him to a higher standard just because he can kick a football well.
Miljevic is (I believe) largely raised in Argentina, and South America is another world (a very ignorant one too). Everyone is all about Copa America and their own respective clubs in their towns. You’d be surprised how much South American youth are detached from the rest of the world. I’m not surprised that he doesn’t know much about European football legends. He likely doesn’t know any good European footballers other than Ronaldo.
We could even use our favorite diaspora Croat (Stipe Miocic) as an example.
I’m sure Stipe Miocic was a knucklehead when he was a teenager as well. Apparently, Stipe only started calling himself Stipe when he was in his mid 20s. His name was Stephen in high school. He also only went to Croatia for the first time a few years ago. I also highly doubt that he has much of a grasp on Croatian history (much like his inability to speak the language).
However, this doesn’t diminish him being Croatian.
A lot of times, it’s just an immaturity thing. Some people just want to fit in with everyone else, and they play down their heritage. Other times, it’s because they were not pushed into their respective communities by their parents. Most of the time, it’s just them not being worldly enough at a young age (especially when they are raised in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, or some Argentinian town).
But as they get older, they become more mature, and they begin to take an interest in their roots.
I can’t count how many times I knew people who never cared about their heritage, suddenly pull a U-turn when they get older and start going to church, visit their parents’ homelands, and marry someone from the same background as them.
I guarantee you that this self-interest in being Croatian will happen with Pulisic and Miljevic.
This is why I would never close the National Team door to a talented player.
They may not know jack shit about Croatia now, but they will, as they get older (whether they played for us or not).
Ibrahimovic used to deny being Croatian/Bosnian…to the point where he refused to wear his last name on his Ajax shirt (he would insist on being referred to as Zlatan only). He dismissed being identified as anything other than Swedish…But you saw this all change as he got older, regularly referring to himself as being part Croatian/Bosnian. Raising his kids Catholic. Going on vacations to where his mom is from in Dalmacija. Shooting the shit with Boban in Croatian during his arrival in Milan (when he couldn’t even speak the language in his early 20s)…the dude learned the language. I’m sure a part of him wonders what would have been if he dressed up for Croatia instead of Sweden.
Suker did the right thing calling this Miljevic kid, and the HNS shouldn’t be taken aback if the kid knows very little about Croatia or can’t even speaks Croatian. He’s a Croat by blood, and is a talented footballer. Help him get his passport (like they did for Pulisic). Maybe try and call him up to the juniors to see what he can do. If he insists on not representing us, then fine. It will be his loss in the long run, like it was for Ibra, Viduka, and any others.
How the fuck can you not know who Suker is Croatian or not
Sounds like Miljevic is playing everyone off against each other here to catch a break Banja Luka style
What rock did he crawl out from under
Never watched France 98 high light reels obviously
Probably watched more of the 86 reels of Maradona especially the semi against England don’t blame him
Hope he can produce that sort of stuff for us down the track
Elviss.
You’re right he looks like a fag
You guys spend a lot of time talking about someone who won’t even refer to himself as Croatian…kinda weird why this bothers people so much?!
I’ve met people in my life that hat are Latino or Indian and they refer to themselves as Americans and deny they’re Latino/Americans or Indian/Americans…they don’t feel they are anything but Americans so who fucking cares?!
I remember when people wanted Bilos on our National team and I was ok with it but in hindsight, I was wrong…I don’t want someone that doesn’t know what they are and how special it is to wear that grb!
I watch Pulisic play and think he’s a great player with a lot of potential to be superb. I feel bad for him for not understanding what it feels like to love Croatia like most of us do. I don’t care to make him feel what it’s like because an explanation won’t cut the mustard. He’s an American and he’s not Croatian…Stipe Miocic is the perfect example of what we want to represent us..Pulisic may as well be named Johnson…he’s very irrelevant to me and I never wish he was one of us!
I wish pulisic nothing but the best he is special shame he did not pick Croatia for him and Croatian soccer. He is a Croatian citizen and although it doesn’t seem too mean much to him now that could change with time. His not picking Croatia is not his fault but his fathers. There are so few of us and many of us n the west are part of mixed marriages we can’t afford too be exclusionary and bitter.
Also read he never had a real girlfriend ?????
Possible Fanook??
What bothers me about Hersey highway Pussylic
Is that he used Croatia for Citizenship and that he is
Ashamed of his last name. I wish him nothing but the worst.
That’s just me.
His grandfather was a Banja Luka Croat who left for Argentina in 1945, lol.
Doesn’t get more hardcore than that.
Šuker is actually on the ball with this one.
Šuker already called him.
But Miljević didn’t know who Šuker was and had to Google him up after, lol.
He said that he is open to playing for Croatia, on account of his grandfather always wanting him to play for Croatia. But I can’t see him turning down an Argentina callup.
But it’s pretty bad though, that he didn’t know who Šuker was.
@Suba
The kid’s grandfather (who has passed away) wanted him to play for Croatia.
Good idea Maminjo
Don’t let this one slip the cracks
Get on the phone to Suker right now
Born in Miami, but raised in both the US and Argentina.
He’s pretty Argentinian though.
He’s been bouncing between the youth teams of Argentina and USA.
Dinamo should give him a look and see how much it would cost to transfer him over.
If he’s any good then cap him for the junior team. He’ll be nearby and close enough for our coaching staff to evaluate.
I thought he was argie
His grandfather and father are pretty hardcore by naming him Matko Mihael Miljevic.
But it’s funny that the two biggest talent in US soccer are Croats in Pulisic and Miljevic.
Yeah does he live the Zds lifestyle or is he another zgubljen Hrvat like pulisic

I saw a rumour on SB Nation that Mandzukic was being looked at by Fiorentina. They could use a boost for offence. Mandzo has experience with Ribery at Bayern. So I could see that happening. He’s definitely going back to Serie A no doubt. But no sense in returning to A.C Milan. Rebic and Zlatan are on a roll. I saw Inter as a possible link but highly doubt that.
Zlatan will benefit from Rebic’s intensity and hard work, just like I believe Ronaldo benefited from Mandzukic’s intensity.
If anything Ibra’s good at wearing down defenders particularly in the air. No one elbows and claws and gets away with it as much as he does. Kind of bs if u ask me. Dude’s already 6’5″ and is always leading with his elbows and mitts.
I’d love to be playing off of that if I were Rebic.
Yeah I agree Maminjo, I think if Mandzukic went to AC Milan, he could bring a different dynamic to how they attack and I think they’d be better off with him or even both if they could manage their salaries.
Kramaric coming on for a Rebić best up D is scary.
Or you start Kramaric and unleash the Rebić beast in the second half as a game changer.
@ Croatian Canadian
Real Modrić starts.
Rakitic off the bench.
Modrić gives us confidence into starting off big matches well.
If he tires or we have solidify the result, bring him off to save his legs for the next match.
He looks sharp and impactful for Real Modrić.
Surround him with Vlašić and Brozovic/Kovačić along with Rebić , Perišić and Brekalo and you have all the support he needs to bring his magic.
Rakitic is an ideal sub if you need to settle things down and see out a match.
His composure and big game belief has to be utilized.
He can hypothetically come on for Modrić.
Mandžukić would still be better for them at this point in their careers 😉
Regarding Ibrahimovic
This year I’ve watched his play and he’s been really good at holding up the ball and making some very good passes and plays. I think he adds composure, great vision and he’s definitely very goal oriented, which makes everyone around him alert and looking for goals! Its the anticipation to his game that makes him really good.
Ibra is also getting spoon fed by the coach and by his teammates so he does look better than what he’s really contributing….but sometimes havong someone change the overall environment in a positive way is all it takes. Ibra’s experience will help everyone around him just by having the attitude that “we will win” against any opponent! Belief is a magical thing….many lesser teams beat better teams because they refuse to give in and they fight like hell! Its like that snow ball rolling down a hill and gaining momentum and size….everyone is getting better because Ibra brings that confidence to them.
I think he’s a player that can help with more minutes vs mid-range and lower tiered teams and probably a 60 minute player vs the top tiered teams. He’s still very good with his technique’s and creating…he just doesn’t offer much as far as fight a grit…he will turn a game for you but I doubt we ever see him chasing guys down!
@Suba
I guess the Zuti rumors were just rumors.
I don’t think anyone from Dinamo actually confirmed that they were speaking to him. I guess it was just that his contract is expiring this month, so it made sense to assume he would be a candidate. I’m sure he would’ve been the plan B if Kek didn’t take over.
Kek is the more proven option and his teams play with a high octane offense that benefits the strikers a lot. It seemed like every forward he had on his teams in Rijeka blew up and scored a ton of goals (Benko, Kramaric, Bezjak, Gorgon, Gavranovic, Andrijasevic, Heber).
All these guys had career years with Kek, so I expect Orsic and Petkovic to easily be the league scoring leaders next season.
However, I am interested in seeing how well Zuti can develop as coach. He did well with crappy teams like Azerbaijan and Kayserispor. He did excellent with BiH in Nations League, but not as well in Euro qualification (but BiH is pretty overrated and expectations are too high for them).
Hopefully Zuti takes over a decent team somewhere and we can see if he really has coaching talent.
Did anyone watch the Barcelona game yesterday? Apparently Rakitić was not good. Just wondering if it’s true or just Spanish media be hatters?

Is Ibra really doing anything for Milan though?
He’s not pressing the opposing defenders or tracking back much.
He’s always going to be a great target man, but he’s actually botched quite a few finishes this season, and even his penalties have been Modric-like.
The real reason for Milan’s surge is Ante Rebic. Ibra just happens to be a beneficiary of it, and because he’s a bigger name and joined the team once Rebic got more playing time, he’s been receiving all the credit.
It’s no doubt that Ibra is a net positive, but if they swapped out Ibrahimovic with Mandzukic, Milan would be A LOT better.
As long as Ibrahimovic doesn’t retire, keep these duo together. Could only imagine the damage this pair if Ibra played for Croatia. Our Euro Squad is lining up nicely. Only areas were weak is centre backs. This is a call to Dalic. Stop playing Modric and Rakitic as starters. They are mid 30’s and while are still in the starting 11 at top clubs. I beg you to not play them. Brozovic is 27, Kovacic is 26, Pasalic is 25 and Vlasic is 22. Sooner or later Vlasic will be linked to a bigger club. Modric & Rakitic did a lot but can’t see them being picked over those players. In terms of forwards. We got nothing to stress about. Call up Budimir! He has more goals than diver frog Greasyman. I’ll be watching him today.
Rebic would be a screwing machine too with the ladies
Seems like a safe bet especially going with a Slovene
Hopefully he can bring some stability especially in European competitions for Dinamo
Did negotiations with zuti break down or something or was kek always first choice all along
Kek is a good coach.
Strikers tend to have career years with him. This would be great for Bruno Petković.
dinamo wants kek as their new coach and according to sportske novosti it is close to realization
Rebic hotter than Ronaldo. Several of Ronaldo’s goals were PKs. Rebic plays less minutes.
