Is it time to hit the panic button on Luka Sučić? Yes, it is.
Last year, Sučić was Real Sociedad’s ‘Player of the Year’ in his first season with the club with 3 goals in 39 matches (all competitions). Thus far in 2025, Sučić has only mustered up one assist in a Copa del Rey match and has only played 130 minutes in 5 La Liga matches. He is permanently riding the bench in Spain and already fell out of favor with Dalić after attending his sister’s wedding in June. However, Dalić did bring him back to the squad for World Cup qualifiers in the October.
But as of December 2025, Sučić is a sitting duck on the Sociedad bench with no light at the end of the tunnel. There are rumors circulating around the internet that Sučić is looking for a 6-month loan move in January 2026 to Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart, Juventus or PSV Eindhoven.
The thing is, his stock is plummeting and even if he turns it around in 2026 before the World Cup, will it be enough? Croatia has so many CAMs on the roster and Nikola Vlašić is starting to ramp up his play with goals in back-to-back games for Torino. On top of that, Baturina and Majer are now playing regularly in Serie A and the Bundesliga, respectively.
Sučić is still a young buck at 23 years old, but something has to give here. He has a rifling shot from outside the box that can stun any keeper, but he needs to be getting regular time to prove himself. A loan move is on the horizon, but Sučić has to be disappointed with his situation at the moment, especially with the World Cup seven months away.
Right now, would you sell Sučić stock or buy more of it?

SN says Croatia considering Toronto, Philadelphia, Washington and Boston as base-camp locations
Anonymous has been following FIFA marketplace
The prices are going down (c.$50-100 per ticket) since they re-opened it
Suspect no takers at the 3x re-sell prices
Worth monitoring how much lower they go, but perhaps the opening day was a “blow-off top” (considering there will be a lot of people getting the remaining tickets now in this phase in a month)
Where is Anonymous seeing this? I was seeing $400-600 USD for cat 3/4 for Toronto/Philly.
How much are the tickets if you manage to draw direct from fifa? I imagine these are listed now as over priced by people looking to make money currently?
What’s the deal with Roko Šimić, when will he join the team , Not a lot of info out there about him, I saw him play once for Cardiff, he did not play well. Many back home think he will be a huge star . Anyone here know anything about his progress
He was never a good goalscorer.
He just had a good father who knew how to prepare him for a footballing career and helped him max out his opportunities…but it seems that he’s just not that talented to make anything of it.
I thought his dad was smart to get him into Lokomotiva as a teenager (instead of competing at Dinamo with bigger talents).
He got to play first team football and score a few times. Nothing crazy, but he was still very young and the exposure got him a contract with Red Bull Salzburg.
He went to Salzburg, and went on loan to second division FC Liefering (where he actually did score a lot) and it got him a few appearances with Salzburg (most notably in the Champions League where he won a player of the match award).
This was his peak, and he hasn’t done anything since.
It seems more and more likely that Roko is just a kid who had a smart father who knew how to make decisions for his son’s career.
But this will only take you so far. You still need the talent to see it through.
Roko probably just doesn’t have the talent if he’s struggling on teams like Zürich, Cardiff, Kortrijk and now Karlsruher too.
All of these teams are below Dinamo Zagreb’s level.
If he had any bit of talent, he would at least be an average scorer on one of these teams. He scores zero goals for these teams. He’s been Kanga level bad.
Maybe he gets lucky and finds a team where it works, but it’s looking like he just doesn’t have what it takes to be a NT caliber striker.
The way I normally assess “talent” is as follows. If someone can do something once they can do it again in theory. What they can do, even in a small sample size is representative of their ‘talent’, often referred to as their ‘potential’ or ‘ceiling’. Whether or not they fulfil that talent is another matter, depending on whole range of factors.
I saw roko simic come off the bench for his debut in Swiss and score 2 goals to win the game. Including a stunning volley. No chance a kid without talent does that. But other things, determination, focus, self doubt, bad luck, injuries, relationship problems can completely destroy a career. Hatem Ben Arfa is the most talented player I’ve ever seen. He did nothing in his career
Well said and sadly very true
The nutmeg king!
Thank you for the info . I am sorry to hear that . I wish him the best and hope he can turn it around
But you make an excellent point about his fathers guidance perhaps giving him too much too early. Maybe he is not that good. I don’t know
I haven’t seen enough of him to really assess whether or not he has the talent to be NT caliber (which is more than being just a pro footballer).
But I figure the easiest way to judge is by the results and whether or not something was even ever there in the first place.
We have a big enough sample across multiple teams to see that he only ever scored for one club. Maybe 2nd division Austria is really bad, and he’s just not capable of scoring regularly in premier leagues.
His club decisions seemed to be good moves…so I figured that was his father’s doing.
Could the knee problems, and sprained MCL be the reason why he has lost form? All players at one time or another go through a slump. Perhaps a transfer to another club could be what he needs . What does everyone here think of his cousin Petar? I seen him play and I understand he is a starter for Inter and doing well. Will he make the cut for June
Luka sucic can still do it for sure. He has to push and believe and work. He has the talent for sure for sure.
I’m getting emotional. England is coming. Lukas last dance. Come on boys
its amazing how much older modric and perisic look compared to 2018 in their faces. Like they’re aging in dog years not putting on sun screen on the Dalmatian coast
They are real men, not metrosexual pussies.
Luka Sučić is young, he needs some time to develop, I think he will be an exceptional player for us. He just needs to check his attitude and grow a little. He needs to continue keeping his head down, and he will be back eventually, better than ever in my view. He has too many valuable skill sets to write him off at this point.
I just think it was in poor taste how he reacted when scoring that goal in the qualifiers, show some passion when play under the checkers. Either way.this is all just a byproduct of his age and the fact that he is still young, time and experience will fix that.
Perišić is still great. Scored a great goal almost as soon as he was subbed on tonight and now has 5 goals and 2 assists in 5 cup matches (probably mostly coming off the bench, I would imagine). He could have had four more assists so far tonight, but his younger teammates keep blowing point-blank one-timers. Perišić is setting them up as if it’s a practice session. He could have taken shots he would probably have scored on two of these plays but is too great for that.
He’s alive, first action in weeks. Subbed in 75 minute. Chance to go from villain to hero.
HA! The day I post he scores his 1st goal in 10 months. The CroatianSports anti-jinx. Who do I need to criticize next? Halilovic? Jedvaj? Sosssaaaaa????
@ Ante Halilovic Dad ruined his son. That kid could of been huge . Its a shame . His problem was mental , he could not handle it. HE did not know that slow and steady wins the race . If mamic was still around and was that kids agent he be a starter on the team .
He also has that Bosniak complex.
He seemed to feel more proud about being Bosniak than Croatian, always babbling on about Bosna in his interviews (despite being born and raised in Zagreb his whole life).
A lot of Croatia’s success comes from playing with pride, regardless of whether you were from Croatia, Bosna or some other diaspora.
It seemed like Halilovic didn’t have any of that.
He probably grew up in a household with a Yugo vibe (which is understandable since it is a mixed marriage). I find that people who raise their kids in this kind of environment are less successful.
glad to see the website is picking up my insights on Croatias cam dilemma or as some people call it the Cam-lemma, the cam-plication, or the cam-numdrum.
Sucic is a perfect example. Not that fast, not that great a possession midfielder, so so defender. Has a rifle for a shot but how many offensive contributions is that ever going to produce?
FIFA marketplace open again
It’s dumb – if you pick multiple tickets – you don’t know which seats you are getting (it says “seats will be assigned later” lol)
WTF
Anonymous wants to pick the seats !
Also – for some games Cat 3 resale is MORE EXPENSIVE than Cat 2 resale LMAO
Toronto – most expensive (Cat 3 more expensive Cat 2 !)
Dallas – second most expensive
Philly – cheapest
Young kid, probably hooked up with some Spanish firecracker that is primo hot and he’s distracted. At the same time, he is getting lapped by some of the kids we have so probably on the bench for WC 2026 or not even on the team. You snooze , blah blah blah
NIKE SIGNED JAGUSIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JUST JAGUSIC IT !!!
WOW WOW WOW !!!!
ANONYMOUS OLYMPIC GOAL MEDAL EYE TESTS !!!
Anonymous heart is broken
Jagusic is now following Chelsea and no longer Tttenham (he used to follow Tttenham, I guess he upgraded :-()
He also follows Juventus and Bayern campus on IG
But no longer Tttenham :-(((((((((
Good luck at Chelsea Jaga – they got Cole Palmer ! 😉
P.S.
Keep in mind that Sociedad sold Zubimendi (their best midfielder) and everyone was saying wedding boy will take over – well that was wrong – keep that also in mind re: Como and Nico Paz
P.P.S.
Nobody believed Anonymous when they mentioned attitude and commitment issues with both Bati and wedding boy – it was obvious to see how they carry themselves on and off the pitch, their effort (especially OOP), general demeanour, etc – you can pick up the small things if you know what you’re looking for (e.g. wedding boy not celebrating the Croatia goal vs. Farao from the bench – just sitting there being petulant, etc etc etc)
P.P.P.S.
I blaim wedding boy and Bati’s parents – it’s their fault – they coddle their special snowflakes and made them believe they will make it because they are special (not bc of hard work) – and perhaps they both had little too comfortable surroundings growing up (being born in Switzerland) – Bati in particular has benefited from nepotism given his dad played for Dinamo and was capped for Croatia etc (although his brother Roko plays in the 4th division – so hasn’t help all his sons)
Anonymous recalls an old-old-old-story about Miki Rapaic’s dad being a milk-delivery man and grabbing young Miki by the ear and telling him to go practise with the ball instead of waisting time at school and learning to read/write (95% sure it was Miki) with his idea that Miki has to become a footballer, Broz too with his butcher father (I think he left school too early), Perisic too growing up on the chicken farm, Gvardiol too with dad catching smelly fish every morning at 3am, Modric too with his BF grand-dad being killed by Serbs and being in the refugee hotel kicking the soccer ball, Srna was Muslim and his dad a baker/trucker driver (who lost both his parents during WW2 and was basically orphaned with his brother at 3 y/o) and brother Igor – there are many more examples – but there is something to learn from that (the players that have had the hunger and done exceptionally well have had some sort of real-life fuel to drive them)
Of course, there are examples have footballers that have come from very wealthy and comfortable surrounds like Pirlo – but those are the exceptions to the rule – look at Zidane, Rooney, Michael Ballack, etc etc etc etc etc – it was football or bust
The “weird” thing about wedding boy – is his dad and Pero’s dad are brothers – but suspect they must be completely different in terms of profile/personality – for their sons to end up with such different attitudes – I know Pero has talked about growing up in a small village too on a farm with animals and just wants to play football (and stay off social media) – correct – I also suspect there is something to learn if we were to focus on wedding boy and Pero’s respect fathers – just a hunch
@Ante
1) Baturina isn’t playing regularly in Serie A – he got only his third start for Como yesterday
2) “He has a rifling shot from outside the box that can stun any keeper,” – great – that’s his one attribute – maybe I introduce you to Jagusic who has that plus a lot more
@Crnkovic
Here’s the Roma goal yesterday – keep eyes on Bati – is it just be but he should have done more initially – when Paz was closing in on the player (he didn’t close the passing lane b/w the two Roma players where the short pass went thru) – and than he went back into the box – but the effort to actually close down the man when the cross came in was lacking (he should have actually been tight with the man as the ball came in) – this kind of still looks like he’s strolling around and not aggressive enough – is Anonymous being too critical or do you see similar ??
x.com/SerieA_EN/status/2000838313822093541
Baturina is getting more PT than Sucic and has been relatively regualr off the bench the past month. Plus he started vs. Roma yesterday. I would call that significant PT over Sucic.
I just watched highlights of Croatia under 19 vs Serbia. Quite a few players caught my eye. Patrice covic, lovro chelfi, some Baric kid, andjelo sutalo, durdov. So that’s like 5 talented attacking players, with technical ability. Belinho is younger than them. Any of those kids could become the big thing. Most probably won’t Ofcourse. But it just goes to show that “genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration”. The likes of Luka sucic and baturina need to remember that. It all comes down to personality, determination and desire. History will forget them quickly if they don’t push themselves
There is sunshine after the clouds and rain. Buy, Buy, Buy! Luka Modric was supposed to be the biggest bust in the Spanish league as well. This might not be Sucic’s world cup, but I have not lost faith in him. The knee injury set him back a bit. His career not over. We will need him in 4 years when both Modric, and possibly Kovacic are gone.
Yeah, I think we are all a bit disappointed with luka
But his cousin looks the goods
Let’s hope luka turns it around
In other news
look at this. I think it wasn’t even carded and in the same league toma basic gets the softest red ever
