That’s right folks. Stipe Pletikosa is back.
But it’s not in checkers.
The former Croatia #1, who retired from international ball after the 2014 World Cup, is returning to play football in the last place you would expect: Spain. And we’re not talking the second or third division, we’re talking La Liga; with Deportivo la Coruna. Deportivo are currently sixth place in Spain and only four points behind a Champions League spot. The club’s starting goalie, Fabricio, has been ruled out long term with an injury and picked up Pletikosa for the rest of the season. Football Espana explains how this came to fruition.
Although Pletikosa had a disastrous World Cup, he was always a likable player and loved by most Croatian fans. In Russia, he was able to lead his Rostov team to the Russian Cup championship in 2013; the first trophy in club history.
And although this means nothing for the Croatian national side, it will be nice to see Pletikosa go against European giants Barcelona and Real Madrid to finish his storied career.
He will be able to play for Deportivo after the new year.
Što se tiče njegovog nadimaka nije “Pleti” nego “Plete”
I agree with you Ante, as long as your word it carefully and are sensitive to the delicate nature of the details I don’t really see a problem with reporting such things when it clearly has a direct impact on a players performance.
The Pleti World cup thing was a very sensitive subject for Croatians. When we “CSR” posted the story of what was going on in his personal life…I received texts and phone calls from many in the diaspora to pull the story immediately.
One quote in particular was “why are you trying to be TMZ?”
Now, personal personal life is personal life, but there is a line.
If an employee of yours, which Pleti was at the time of the Croatian national team for example, is having personal issues which conflicts with his work output. Doesn’t the rest of his staff (the team and fans in this instance) have a right to know what is holding him back?
I say yes.
check out our president rrrrrrrrr

Who on earth could you be referring to????????
The reason commentary about Pletikosa’s personal life (including his wife) is fair game is because at the time he was playing for the repka. When you play for the repka and you don’t play well, you then look into why a player did not play well. Could it have been due to a personal problem in his life that he was dealing with. If so, commenting about it and discussing it is fair game.
how long before we know “who” chimes in about Pleti’s personal life and his wife wanting to commit suicide.
Barring another injury, I doubt he’ll play
