Former Croatia center-back Josip ‘Joe’ Šimunić is currently on an 7-city North American tour promoting and premiering a documentary film called “Moja Voljena Hrvatska” about his life leading up to his moment of infamy, which got him suspended from the World Cup in Brazil and ended his international soccer career.
Šimunić will finish his tour this weekend with two showings in Los Angeles. The first will be Saturday night at Hrvatski Dom in San Pedro, located at 631 W 9th St, San Pedro, CA 90731 at 7PM. The following Sunday (Nov. 29th), Joe will be at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Downtown located at 712 N Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012. General admission tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.
Come and meet the legendary Croatian defender as he tells his story from that faithful night in Zagreb. CroatianSports.com has lined up an exclusive interview with Joe this weekend.

He is doing well.
Seems to be close to naturally two footed and has an eye for the pass.
It is funny that he plays a very “Cro” style, completely different from any of the other kids he has played with.
Unfortunately, American youth soccer training/coaching leaves a lot to be desired. A lot of kicking and chasing and “booting” the ball/squandering possession. A lot of “Daddy Ball” too.
I am providing him with the best training I can afford and if he is intrinsically motivated at an older age he will have to take ownership and push himself.
@ Faux Cro
Thanks Brate.
I hope you are relaxing this weekend and enjoying the family.
How is the youth soccer going with your Son?
Lol @colin o’haravic :), crnkovic, originally rab/Pag Islands, mixed background, half Croat, half scot, half Zambian and a recent convert to Islam. Lol hope I’m still allowed to comment here. Political discussion welcomed but please don’t spoil these pages with it. Imagine the ottomans never managed to conquer us and then I go and convert of my own accord. My ancestors turning their graves. Brozovic scored a good goal as well this week, he deserves more credit than he gets. Will try to find brekalo vs arsenal somewhere…

@Soul Champ:
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody at CSR.
I saw him here in Chicago last Saturday. It was too bad that it was mostly the old timers who showed up for it though. But then again, there was basically no promotion for this thing. I literally found out 2 hours before it started. I would say there were approx 75 people there. I can only imagine it would’ve been packed in other N Anerican cities. Ziva, no anti-Chicago commentary is necessary here, We all know your cheese ball coined rhyming phrases. Anyway, the film had very little to do with politics. I was pretty surprised at how technically skilled he actually was as a youth player. He’s a great guy. I’m glad I got to see him.
@ Svima
I am thankful for all of us on this site that create community around our beloved Croatian Sports.
I pray for all Croatians throughout the world to be safe this Holiday season and prosper in the new year.

Brekalo took down Arsenal’s U19 team. Dinamo’s U19s won 2-1 in England.
Crnkovic, huh? So your families must be from the middle of nowhere Gorski Kotar then?!
😉
@Crnkovic – Where are you from? My family is Crnkovic too.
….brozovic, pjaca, mandzu
Starting 11: Kalinic; jedvaj, corluka, Vida, vrsljako; modric, kovacic; halilovic, rakitic, perisic; kalinic…….

Looks like a load of rubbish, but if it inspires the players to give everything then it will have done its job. Btw just because I’m part of the diaspora doesn’t mean I have an IQ of 25

Armada
Why don’t you share it then?
Thanks Dennis!
Let’s hear it Toni, what’s up?!?
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Please don’t comment under someone’s unique name.
@Sude Mi,
Toni used your name, comment has been updated.
@ Allen
I’d read up more as to why Jelavic retired….
Hmmm, looks like someone else is using my moniker….interesting. Posted at 6:04am; I was in bed snoring loudly!
Dennis any way to determine who it is via their IP address?
P.S. I saw him in Oakville a couple of Saturdays ago…yeah, he’s a hero. I was ambivalent at his remarks when he made them, thinking he should have known better. Now, after hearing him speak to it live and then watching the film I have nothing but admiration for the guy. Soft spoken, intelligent and a real domoljub!
Every serb chetnik ultimately draws their demented scum ideology from the sreb church and religion, their origins are directly tied to them, which is why the filth serb church supported numerous other serb war criminals and still does today, the Isis of the orthodox world. serb chetniks and other war criminal trash supporters freely mingle with and associate with serb church goings on. The serb religion is a terrorist organization by definition, ask the Bulgarians, Macedonians, Montenegrins, Albanians etc.
I’m looking much more forward to when that gold digging cunt severina finally meets her pointless end with buletts to the back of the head, ala arkan. What a corrupt celeb whore in heels. I’m going to drink champagne, beers and maybe light up some cigars then, because its a special occasion.
Looking forward to the interview. Still pretty bizarre to see a mostly unknown player going on a North American tour. Documentary looks interesting though.
Nice Kranjcar sighting in the video. Respect the man for leaving his bed for the first time in five years and immediately doing an interview. Not sure what look he’s going for..
Jelavic talking about the national team is pretty hilarious, considering he retired in his prime.
3-0 barca at ht… looking nice!
The movie had already been shown in a number of cities like Vancouver, Oakville, Hamilton, Chicago, Cleveland and Montreal with a few more stops coming including Norval on Thursday and San Jose on Friday night as well. It is being shown in Kansas City also this week although only Jakov Sedlar will be there for that one.
For any Croat born in the diaspora, this is definately a movie you want to see. Joe is an incredible guy. You don’t want to miss this event.
bbb (crowd) making a lot of noise…need the over in barca game 3.5
I know he has been to a few places in Canada already and that he was in Chicago last Saturday.
Solid dude. Down to earth and pretty open.
I have had the pleasure to hang with him a few time…….
Someone link me to a bootleg of this
At the CAVS and Magic game there was a dude behind the CAVS bench in a Cro jersey

“I don’t know if he is a hero. I am not ready to discount the millions of Serbs due to a hand full of Chetniks.”
What does that even mean? What does Simunic have to do with any of that. Wtf
I don’t know if he is a hero. I am not ready to discount the millions of Serbs due to a hand full of Chetniks.
Actually my views on a “za dom…..spremni” lifestyle is very much like Simunic’s views. Most of us from the diaspora think the same way.
This documentary will play well in the diaspora.
That said, not let the jock sniffing begin.
HVALA, MINISTAR OBRANE!
LEGENDA!
Any idea what the other 6 cities he’s going to are?
Za Dom Spremni!!!!!
A true Croatian hero!!!!!
LEGENDA!!
A truly beautiful anthem. Hope to see such pride from the players come June.
Meanwhile Ziva will be doing a seven basement tour promoting his views on living a ZDS lifestyle. No tickets sold yet.
