In a feature started weeks ago by our very very own Matt “Goldenchild” Lebo, CroatianSports.com will give you betting fiends out there our Pick of the Week. It will usually revolve around the English Premier League, but not always. And if we don’t put something up one weekend for you folks to ponder, well, that just means we don’t have a pick we would bet the house on. We’re a financially sound bunch here at CroatianSports.
Lock of the Week: Chelsea -1 (-135)
Although Chelsea are on the road this match, at Crystal Palace, they remain the only undefeated English club in the young season, only dropping points at Manchester City in a 1-1 draw. And don’t worry about spotting Palace a goal. Chelsea have scored 21 goals in seven matches (averaging 3.0 goals/game) and should keep that goal scoring momentum going when Diego Costa and company return from international break. Crystal Palace have scored 10 goals while conceding 12 in their opening seven matches.
Parlay of the Week: English 3-team Cup of Tea
Manchester City (-210)
Arsenal (-240)
Chelsea -1 (-135)
$100 wins you 264. Manchester City is home against a far lesser Tottenham side while Arsenal face Hull City at the Emirates. You already know how I feel about Chelsea. Stick to the favorites boys. Don’t try to be heroes. Happy spending. Make sure to tip your waitress.
Like I said in the first post above, know when to play an underdog.
Two out of 3 heavy favorites lose….and parlays are for suckers.
Vegas knows folks.
Chelsea for the push. Arsenal embarrassed at home. Needed a late goal for the draw.
I’ll give myself a C- for the day.
Svircic you’re up next.
^ ^
Yeah, couldn’t believe that 8-0 scoreline.
Koeman’s doing wonders over there.
wow Man City embarrassed Tottenham.
Arsenal struggled. Chelsea squeaked one out. Red cards make life difficult.
Yaya Toure was rested and Man City came out firing. Look for City to dump Toure a day before his birthday.
@Poglavnik,
Southampton is definitely better than I thought. Newcastle squeaked one out. You are 0-2 buddy.
@ziva
You have been saying that for over two years “twitter- I have yet to fully embrace the social media tool, but I will give it a try”.
You have had your twitter account for over two years, so just how many years does it take one to fully embrace something?
I put it to you that you have definitely embraced and even encouraged others to do the same.
You have not only embraced it, but have become it’s promotional and advertising TOOL.
@Ziva
You have said that 2 years ago ” twitter- I have yet to embrace the social media tool, but I will give it a try.”
Just how many years does it take to qualify to fully embrace something?
Your twitter account has been in operation for over two years. So I say you have definitely fully embraced and encouraged others to use the social media tool.
In my eyes You are it’s promotional and advertising “TOOL”!
A fanboy in layman’s terms.
So please drop the charade, you and I both know you are a full blown twitter head.
Hypocrite!
I have said if anyone wants to ask any personal questions they can do so my engaging me on twitter, @ziva_istina. While I have yet to fully embrace the social media tool, I will make an effort to engage.
!!!Stone Cold Lock Of The Year!!!
Ziva “Comes Out” to the CSR
@IvicA, doesn’t mean it can’t happen again. Hence, it being a “lock of the week” not “lock of the year” which in that case you could then rule those out that Ziva had mentioned because they already happened.
Stone Cold Locks of The Week
Ziva mentioning the following in the same sentence:
Corluka and STD’s
Krancjar and Big Mac’s
@Živa
How are those “stone cold locks” when the top two of those have already happened this season?
Stone cold lock of the week…………..Rakitic misses a header on goal.
Mahir Mandzuka does not score from more than 12 meters out.
Mamic still runs the show.
Those are three stone cold locks.
Blue is the Colour
Chorus
Blue is the colour, football is the game
We’re all together, and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
’cause Chelsea, Chelsea is our name
Verse 1
Here at the Bridge whether rain or fine
We can shine all the time
Home or away, come and see us play
You’re welcome any day
Chorus
Blue is the colour, football is the game
We’re all together, and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
’cause Chelsea, Chelsea is our name
Verse 2
Come to the Shed and we’ll welcome you
Wear your blue and see us through
Sing loud and clear until the game is done
Sing Chelsea everyone.
@ Denis,
You right. I wrong.
All they did last year was beat Chelsea. And draw against Liverpool, Everton.
@Poglavnik,
I like your picks. I can see all three happening.
@Ante,
Crystal Park beat Chelsea last year 1-0. Will history repeat itself? I hope not as I have 3 chelsea fantasy players.
.
I like looking for 3 game parlays with 2 draws and a visitor’s win.
Nothing that’s too much of a long shot.
Usually get odds somewhere around 20-1 with that type of a combination and I’ll just put $10-$20 on it.
Hit a few of those during a season and you’re laughing!
Leicester/Newcastle – draw
Sunderland/Southampton – draw
Swansea @ Stoke City – Swansea win.
odds for this parlay would be 24.23 x a $10 bet = $242.30
@ Denis,
Crystal Palace upset? The only thing they’ve done this year is beat Everton. And they just got promoted…
I wouldn’t call that being a giant killer.
@Bobby V,
Yes, gambling is a disease. I was hooked for a year or so. Today, I just throw down a few bucks here and there for fun.
@ Bobby V
Agree with you. Soccer is tricky because of the draw. It messes everything up. Buy boy oh boy is it fruitful when you hit.
I’ve learned 1 thing that has stuck with me about the Premiership. An Irishman told me this last Christmas in Dublin.
Never, never, never take the away team. The only exception to that rule is if a top-2 team on the table is facing a bottom half of the table club.
You gotta make your money on locks and then you can mess around with 2-3-4 team parlays. Simple as that.
I think all three games have a chance to draw.
Crystal Palace are known to pull the upset. Chelsea are undefeated and are due for a bad game. Arsenal has more injuries then my struggling lakers. Tottenham can stun City as Yaya toure will most likely get a rest after representing Ivory Coast.
The only way you will ever make money on sports betting is by knowing when to take an underdog.
That’s why 95% of you lose – you don’t have the guts to consistently take the points.
Using Arsenal above as an example, (at -240 and betting $240 to make $100), you would need them to win 5 times (not tie or lose), to win $500.
On the other hand, if they go 3-1-1 (pretty good, right?), you would wind up losing $180.
I’ve been banned by multiple bookies – mostly winning and betting on hockey. Gave it up when it started taking over my life. I was fortunate to be one of the 5%. It was hard to quit, but, thank God I did.
