On Saturday, 22 year-old Celtic defender Jozo Šimunović shook Scottish sport front pages with his tackle on Rangers Kenny Miller. Šimunović is playing in his first season outside of Croatia after being part of Dinamo Zagreb from 2013-15. The 6’3″ center-back has made a name for himself; being solid in the backline and aggressive against opposing strikers.
And Saturday was no exception against rivals Rangers in the Old Firm Derby.
Celtic were already crowned Scottish champions going into this match and eventually won 5-1, however, that didn’t stop Šimunović from giving 110% on the tackle. The Croatian defender came in clean and beat Miller to the ball without showing any studs. He has already been on track to play friendlies for the Croatian senior side but had to withdraw in 2016 due to injury. Šimunović is currently the U-21 side captain. Croatia can use a defender like this that will put fear in attackers eyes.
With this tackle, he’s already won every 50/50 ball for the rest of the season.
There’s a difference between honest criticism and analysis and just being a perpetually negative troll. Demeaning and negative nicknames, constantly being the guy that shits on anything positve, etc.
if there were a Croatian plague it would be the best plague. only thing worse than self hating is self stroking.
The truth does make a good point, and six of our goals came against Kosovo.
So 11 for and 1 against isn’t really that impressive.
beat it troll
@bz
I wouldn’t say kosovo, Iceland, finland, Turkey and Ukraine have any attacking quality that one should be that proud of that. Against the big boys, Croatia defense continues to get exposed
The Truth – with 11goals for and 1 goal against; I’d say it is working out great. Thanks for asking.
Great tackle!
Great to see a Croatian at Celtic for a change, only Croatian muppets play for Rangers.

@Faux Cro
Yep!
go back to being dead Ziva, er “the truth”, er… I mean The Troll. You contribute nothing positive here troll.
It was a tough tackle but clean.
One footed, studs down, did not get the player.
The league is crap, but a step or two better than the HNL.
He will be going to the EPL, that is the path for young Celtic players.
So the hype train behind. Bozo simunovic makes a reckless tackle and gets lucky by being a half second away from breaking the guys leg and being suspended. He must be the next nemanja vidic. We already have a two reckless center backs called lovren and vida. How is that working out. And before the diaspora get carried away believing the hype, let’s remember this is the Scottish league where disgraced former repka player nikica jelavic dominated….must be a lot of striker Quality in this league

“Power CB’s are what we need to support our World-Class midfield going forward.”
Absolutely!!
hehe. nice
That was an athletic play without any foul!
Ref was right there to see it.
I will be at Celtic FC this August.
I hope that Šimunović is still around.
With next level champions league hopes, I can see Celtic FC holding off to sell him.
Plus better for him to play then make big money move and sit the bench.
Power CB’s are what we need to support our World-Class midfield going forward.
Spinning our way boys.
Nice to see a potential beast back there for us
Fuck, poor Kenny Miller..
He couldn’t even cut it with Whitecsps but at least he’s making Simunovic look good.
I did think the kid was one of our best at the U17’s a couple of years ago. Hope he makes the next step.
