This is my favorite time of year.
Spring has sprung. The days are getting longer. And the weather is getting warmer. (Eh, I live in Southern California. We don’t know what seasons are.)
But as a sports guy, it means basketball and hockey playoffs are on the horizon. March Madness brackets are being paid out. And Champions League quarterfinals are here!
And under normal circumstances, the quarterfinals are where Champions League really begins for me. The group stage has been watered down for nearly a decade. And the Round of 16 usually never has big-time matches.
But this year is the exception. And we’re all going to have to hold our breath until the semifinals to see the blockbuster draws. Granted, Arsenal were fixed up with Barcelona in the previous round alongside a Juventus/Bayern Munich tie, but going into the final eight this year, nothing really has me licking my lips.
Real Madrid should cruise past Wolfsburg. Barcelona will get by Atletico in an all-Spanish affair. Bayern Munich v. Benfica- boring. The PSG/Man City matches will get the most attention but Man City have been in shambles this season. Expect PSG and King Zlatan to be in the semifinals where things can get really spicy, really fast.
Bayern, Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG.
It’s almost as if UEFA lined up a perfect semifinals in their favor. But they would never fix anything in their favor, would they?
What are your thoughts on the quarterfinals, which start Tuesday, March 5th? And who do you want to go through?
Lovren had a good match today – he is arguably our best defender based on current form. 1-1 away to Dortmund in the first leg of Europa League. Almost scored and blocked what would have been a goal on defense.
I didn’t watch but Shakhtar won 2-1. Srna played 90 and Eduardo came on for the last 10.
All 4 ties alive and well after the first leg!
Hopefully we some underdogs advance.
Wolfsburg!
I can’t watch soccer anymore, I put on a soccer game for entertainment only to have uefa ruin my experience with their incessant antiWhite social messages of “no to racism”. How much you want to bet you never see that message in any African or Asian game? The members of uefa truly deserve to have their TRAITOR brains bashed the fuck in. Their TRAITOR brains are no good!
As a Hajduk fan you gotta go for Benfica. Hopefully No Name Boys fucked some shit up in Munich
At least Atletico and Benica survived very difficult away first legs. Both ties have all to play for still.
PSG/CITY, battle of the Sheik money bags should be good tomorrow.
What a shame for Ath. Madrid. They looked like they were going to pull off the upset until Torres played the mental midget role and got himself a second yellow.
Rakitic was pretty average. He seemed to be rusty with a few bad passes to start the game before settling into things. He won a few tackles and held his own after that, but nothing special before being subbed in the 2nd half.
not a chance @Zlatan Hrvat
PSG Will win it it’s all rigged the fix is in. The streets are golden.
