I think we can match it with the best at any time , we just need to wake up and start closeing players down as soon as they get the ball , that is a big game winner if we can do this , we have been lacking this for some time ,
this is something i would really like to see happen.

@Poglavnik – Finally someone with a comment that makes sense…yes put us against the best teams in the world right from the group stage…we should be tested with the toughest opponents the whole way through…not be gifted with teams like Iceland in the final qualification games (easiest of all our potential opponents)…yes I agree that we played with heart and the vatreni were present against Iceland, however we were lucky to be playing in the second place games at all…Italy saved us…had Denmark beaten Italy in their final group game (which they almost did as Italy tied them in the 89th minute I believe), then we would have been eliminated and Denmark would have been in the playoffs instead of us…so again give us the best teams…no pushovers…we either sink or swim…and swimming back home from Brasil is a trek…

I’d like to see a group of Spain, Ghana, Croatia, and the United States.

Love to draw a tough to give our young talent the opportunity to compete against the best in the biggest matches of their career.

We finally have a coach that will have us ready to compete. I say bring on the best and enjoy the ride.

Need some of these young studs to breakthrough to the next level and add an attacking dimension to our side.

Croatia is on the up swing and with a solid showing in Brazil we will be ready for 2016 qualifying.

I have. But only because the news app on my phone picks up stories from their sites due to the main key word (Croatia) being flagged on these sites all the time.

These are Serbian news sites, yet all it talks about is Croatia.
Vukovar, WW2, Croats buying up all Serbian businesses, etc….It’s just flat out depressing. The message boards are even worse. Their whole world is Croatia, it’s unbelievable.

But it makes perfect sense as to why a guy like Karadzic is spending so much time on this site. Might as well talk to Croats about Croatia, than talk to Serbs about Croatia.

Being drawn into Pot 2 might not be so bad. I’d rather face Greece, Russia, Bosnia or England than anybody in Pot 2 outside of Algeria.

Ok, I understand your point, its a fair argument. However, I never said “FIFA hates Croatia” I think that is a way over the top also.

However, it is not a coincidence that FIFA changed the formula of the lowest ranked European team when France found themselves in that position. This was blatant favoritism / corruption. There is no way this formula would have changed if another nation was in their position (Just ask S&M in 2006).

I will be very surprised if a “powerhouse” nation finds themselves in pot 2. Croatia, BiH, Greece should brace themselves for the worst.

A European “powerhouse” will not be drawn into Pot 2, make no mistake about it. Blatter / Platini have already chosen the team they will allocate in Pot 2, it will be a “minnow”, one of Croatia, BiH, Greece, Russia.

Considering recent events “Fascist Nazi chants” do not be surprised if we are drawn in Pot 2.

This may sound like a tin foil hat conspiracy, but I would be delighted if this is proven wrong. We wait and see.

Although would be hilarious from a media point of view if England are the unfortunate team in pot 2.

Also, the draw will be organized so that there will be no more than two European teams in any group of four countries, and all the South American teams will be kept apart.

Hoping to get drawn into Group B and then getting Switzerland, Korea and Greece.

The Euro 2016 draw will then be held on Feb.28. So, for 4 months, we can discuss how we’ll do in each group.

In order to make the number in each pot equal, at the start of the draw one of the nine European teams will be drawn into Pot 2, and will definitely face one of the seeded South American sides.

World Cup Pots:

Pot 1: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Germany , Spain, Switzerland, Uruguay

Pot 2: Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Chile, Ecuador (plus one currently in Pot 4)

Pot 3: Australia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, USA

Pot 4: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, England, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia (one team will be drawn into Pot 2)

hahaha…I think Croatia plays Germany and Italy with stubbornness, if they played every team like them we’d be top contenders! Regardless, I think Germany has been guilty of taking us lightly and its not us rising so much as it is them not fully concentrating enough. Don’t get me wrong, I love to watch us beat them but find it more as them losing to us rather than us beating them!

I’m always surprised when we say we want Germany…we beat them yes, but they are definitely not an easy game and I think we are naïve to think beating them is just part of our DNA!

Denis – “We dont have an answer for Lukaku” – he had his opportunities gift wrapped for him so I don’t see him as some major threat like you may. Lukaku is strong and tough to get off the ball but not some soccer genius, I think Rooney, Ibra, Balotelli and many more are far tougher to mark than he is and we seemed to do a decent job with them!

We’ve beat Germany in the past, but that doesn’t = we will do it again…they are a mentally strong team and always have something to prove if they have lost to their opponents in the past!

Croatia have to get their standard 7 players before we start the road to the world cup, there may be room for 3 players rotating based on the opponents or if they are in form or not…I think Players like Perisic, Rebic, Dudu and a few more have to compete for starting positions to make the team healthy and competitive. The rest (7 standard) should be in form players that have experience and have proven to be responsible in the past…ie…Modric, Corluka, Mandzukic…

I’m not overly concerned for any team we play, the ball is round for both teams, we have strengths and weaknesses but the most important thing will be how well we gel as a team right when the tournament starts! That’s a very key factor…the world cup is a tournament and sometimes the team that is best prepared gets the best results…even if they aren’t considered the “best”!

Not sure why you guys are so fearful of Mexico…..if you consider we qualified through the backdoor, they basically crawled in naked!

I watched many a game in CONCACAF qualifying over the last few years and this is NOT the same Mexico we had grown to expect as a very good, technically sound nation.

They are poor attacking, no flair, no passion and seem disorganized and disinterested most of the time. Have a look at how many manager’s they went through just to get to Brazil.

Its all about matchups. Who does Croatia match up well with?

I wouldnt mind being in pot B, however, that guarantees us a match up against Brazil/Argentina/Uruguay or Colombia. At the same time, we avoid the African sides.

going by the odds and favorable match ups for Croatia, its best that we are with the European nations in pot 4.

We avoid: Portugal, France, Holland, Bosna

and have a chance to draw:

Algeria instead of a European side
Switzerland
Belgium
Spain

I like our chances against Spain. We match up well against them.

Pot 3 is the most important.

We want to avoid: Korea, Japan, Mexico and USA. We have a 50% chance to avoid them. The other four are all winable.

We generally do well against European teams.

I’d prefer we don’t get any South American squads.

Its really annoying that France isnt in pot B automatically as the lowest placed Euro Nation. Platini is French so……….It would be bad luck for us to be drawn into pot 2 with the African/Weaker South American teams because then we are almost guaranteed a really hard group.

I wouldn’t call the Brazil – Hrvatska – Bosna – USA a group of death. At least not for Brazil. They owuld laughing if that is what they got.

Second place would be up for grabs in that group with us being a slight favorite.

A group featuring Argentina – Hrvatska – Netherlands/Italy/France/etc – Mexico would be death. Playing any S. American side in Brazil will be hard.
