CroatianSports.com has achieved our goal of collecting the necessary $5,000 to pay for Joe Šimunić’ fine. We are currently in the process of finding an appropriate organization in Vukovar to donate the funds to. If you are a donor, you should have received an email already from us. If you have not, please contact CroatianSports at info@CroatianSports.com immediately.
No matter which side of the fence your allegiances may lie, the fact that we could raise $5,000 in seven days shows how far our little online community has come. So to all the donators: Thank You!

I think we can match it with the best at any time , we just need to wake up and start closeing players down as soon as they get the ball , that is a big game winner if we can do this , we have been lacking this for some time ,
this is something i would really like to see happen.
@ Denis
I was actually at the second friendly where we beat Korea 2:1. We had a B-team squad and were winning 2:0 until the 93rd minute. It was laziness, since the game was already won at that point, that cost us that goal. Korea is nothing to worry about.
Our A-team beat them 4:0.
Bez briga brate!
@Poglavnik – Finally someone with a comment that makes sense…yes put us against the best teams in the world right from the group stage…we should be tested with the toughest opponents the whole way through…not be gifted with teams like Iceland in the final qualification games (easiest of all our potential opponents)…yes I agree that we played with heart and the vatreni were present against Iceland, however we were lucky to be playing in the second place games at all…Italy saved us…had Denmark beaten Italy in their final group game (which they almost did as Italy tied them in the 89th minute I believe), then we would have been eliminated and Denmark would have been in the playoffs instead of us…so again give us the best teams…no pushovers…we either sink or swim…and swimming back home from Brasil is a trek…
or Germany, Ghana, Croatia, and the United States
I’d like to see a group of Spain, Ghana, Croatia, and the United States.
🙂
As a soccer fan I want us to play the best!
I’d hate to be in a group with Greece, Russia, & Algeria and not be able to get through.
I believe we are playing with house money in Brazil.
Love to draw a tough to give our young talent the opportunity to compete against the best in the biggest matches of their career.
We finally have a coach that will have us ready to compete. I say bring on the best and enjoy the ride.
Need some of these young studs to breakthrough to the next level and add an attacking dimension to our side.
Croatia is on the up swing and with a solid showing in Brazil we will be ready for 2016 qualifying.
Thank you soooooo much Karadzic from the bottom of my heart. Why? because people like you make me feel closer to my Croatian brother, that how we bond. You make me appreciate my culture and bloodline. I love it when when there are jealous haters it just bring us closer and makes us stronger.

@denis
06/02/2013 London Croatia 4:0 (2:0) Korea Republic
we also beat 4 to nil as well so that makes it twice we beat them they dont scare me one bit 🙂
Come on guys. Leave Karadzic alone. He doesn’t know any better.
It must suck being a diaspora Serb. No World Cup for them, and all they have is B92 and InSerbia for their daily news and discussion.
Have you ever read the stories on those sites?
I have. But only because the news app on my phone picks up stories from their sites due to the main key word (Croatia) being flagged on these sites all the time.
These are Serbian news sites, yet all it talks about is Croatia.
Vukovar, WW2, Croats buying up all Serbian businesses, etc….It’s just flat out depressing. The message boards are even worse. Their whole world is Croatia, it’s unbelievable.
But it makes perfect sense as to why a guy like Karadzic is spending so much time on this site. Might as well talk to Croats about Croatia, than talk to Serbs about Croatia.
Antwerp- I agree with you and it’s why I was asking about some I these younger kids, we sure can use a Kovacic type I player that can score and turn a game in a heartbeat!
I just wish Croatia had a Talisman. Someone who can change the game with a moment of genius and win matches single-handedly. In 1998, we had Davor Suker…
Right now Croatia relies on it’s Collectivism, which might get us into the Sweet Sixteen. But if we are going to go far, someone is going to have to step up and take the bull by the horns.
@ Bobby V
LOL
I say we accept another $5,000 in donations to help send Karadzic to a Croatian wannabe rehab center.
Actually before we do, you can help yourself by shaving the beard, putting down those three fingers and getting a job.
Congrats for getting the 5,000 that’s pocket change I think Simunic should have been jailed but thats just me and you idiots think that he will accept it lol but the Ustasesports.com admins say they’ll donate it to a charity it’ll just go to their salaries LOL
i hope the ustase dont block me or send their albanian lover goons after me
Platimi its getting boring him helping france 1998 and 2000 golden goals. 2010 2012 2014 helping them with refs. Man its boring and annoying already.
Being drawn into Pot 2 might not be so bad. I’d rather face Greece, Russia, Bosnia or England than anybody in Pot 2 outside of Algeria.
@Ziva
I sympathize with that jock sniffer.
Poor bugger’s not even enjoying the picture by the looks of it.
Ok, I understand your point, its a fair argument. However, I never said “FIFA hates Croatia” I think that is a way over the top also.
However, it is not a coincidence that FIFA changed the formula of the lowest ranked European team when France found themselves in that position. This was blatant favoritism / corruption. There is no way this formula would have changed if another nation was in their position (Just ask S&M in 2006).
I will be very surprised if a “powerhouse” nation finds themselves in pot 2. Croatia, BiH, Greece should brace themselves for the worst.
@ Dinko
Come on now.
Everybody said the same thing about the playoff draw and how we would be drawn against a tough opponent like Sweden (because FIFA hates Croatia), and that teams like Portugal and France would be off the hook.
Portugal drew Sweden, France remained unseeded and drew a red-hot Ukraine, and we drew teh Icelandic minnows.
For the World Cup draw, the odds of the France being drawn into Pot Two is 1 in 9. So, if they don’t get drawn in there, it’s not some pro-France conspiracy.
A European “powerhouse” will not be drawn into Pot 2, make no mistake about it. Blatter / Platini have already chosen the team they will allocate in Pot 2, it will be a “minnow”, one of Croatia, BiH, Greece, Russia.
Considering recent events “Fascist Nazi chants” do not be surprised if we are drawn in Pot 2.
This may sound like a tin foil hat conspiracy, but I would be delighted if this is proven wrong. We wait and see.
Although would be hilarious from a media point of view if England are the unfortunate team in pot 2.
Will NOT be France, you can take that to the (Swiss) Bank.
…oops, no 3 European teams – I’ll take Uruguay in place of Switzerland
Also, the draw will be organized so that there will be no more than two European teams in any group of four countries, and all the South American teams will be kept apart.
Hoping to get drawn into Group B and then getting Switzerland, Korea and Greece.
The Euro 2016 draw will then be held on Feb.28. So, for 4 months, we can discuss how we’ll do in each group.
anybody think Subasic is going to take over Pletikosa’s spot? just watched a Monaco match and he looked solid in goal
In order to make the number in each pot equal, at the start of the draw one of the nine European teams will be drawn into Pot 2, and will definitely face one of the seeded South American sides.
World Cup Pots:
Pot 1: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Germany , Spain, Switzerland, Uruguay
Pot 2: Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Chile, Ecuador (plus one currently in Pot 4)
Pot 3: Australia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, USA
Pot 4: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, England, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia (one team will be drawn into Pot 2)
Sta se imate bojat I kalkulirat .Reko bi Stimac bit cemo prvaci. Skim igramo da igramo nek se dokazu ti nasi vatreni.
samo nece ni grupu proci, mark my words
hahaha…I think Croatia plays Germany and Italy with stubbornness, if they played every team like them we’d be top contenders! Regardless, I think Germany has been guilty of taking us lightly and its not us rising so much as it is them not fully concentrating enough. Don’t get me wrong, I love to watch us beat them but find it more as them losing to us rather than us beating them!
I dont think beating them is in our DNA, i think them beating us isnt in their DNA. Im not saying theyd be my number one pick but i definitely would not mind getting them
I’m always surprised when we say we want Germany…we beat them yes, but they are definitely not an easy game and I think we are naïve to think beating them is just part of our DNA!
Chupe – we can change pots?
anyway back to english.
I wouldnt mind the yanks.
Ill take the Germans any day. They cant beat us, they just have a shitty time against us.
I dont want holland, I dont want france, i want belgium, any concacaf team would be nice.
lol
I want to play serbia but we wont have a chance to beat them again since they didnt make it. oh well
@anon
ma daj nemoj srat. zar nemas nista bolje radit nego ovdje se pravit pametan?
da bog da sam sebi brata napravio
If we get in pot 2 then i want this group Colombia,Croatia,USA,BIH or Italy.
A perfect example of what happens when you jock sniff………

Remember folks……..don’t be a jock sniffer.

valjda bi to vase pisanje paralo ko da siptari pisu hrvatski, ahahaaaa.
@Denis
We do have an answer for Lukaku, and it’s to NOT play our slowest defender in Ćorluka on him with only three at the back.
Lukaku is fast and strong. His goals against some were just him outrunning our very sparse defensive formation where we stupidly placed our slowest player in the center. There was nothing technically impressive about the goals.
He’s a typical EPL striker, who I think would be remedied with our own EPL defender in Lovren. Play four in the back with Lovren shadowing Lukaku and you’ll see a different story.
I actually wouldn’t mind drawing Belgium at all. Would make for a nice revenge game.
P.S. I also wouldn’t mind Germany as well. Germany always has trouble with us. I could see them beating the other teams in our group and tying us. That tie would be our advantage over the others and could put up through.
Niko Kovac is not a dumb domaci Croat he is diaspora hard work and sweat not drink kofi smoke cigs and be a balkanac he is a SVABO thats why im more confident the Football gods helped with Iceland but Niko over any Strucnjak in Cro,
Armada – thankfully games are not played on paper. You may think Bosna’s 3 attackers are better than ours but games a made on creating chances and finishing them, I think we win there. If Croatia get back to the form they were in less than 2 years ago (which should be achievable since the team is almost the same or better then I think the number one goal for Kovac will be to get his team to play as a unit and get some results in the pre world cup warm up! Iron out the kinks and set the strategy…and I’m pretty sure Kovac will achieve that.
Khedira? lol
Gudogan is 10 times the technician than sami
@Denis
Thanks for the update re Mexico, but I’ll withold upgrading their chances until I see a few friendlies against quality opponents before assessing their ability to really compete.
Every week Lovren continues to impress makes me less and less worried about our back 4. Pranjic was a welcome addition on the left…..let’s see how our own build-up in friendlies goes…
Just a thought, but given the fact the WC is in the Western hemisphere anyone think CRO might decide to hold part of their prep in the US and then play some friendlies in North America? They could make some serious coin, get adjusted to the time-zone and no doubt play some quality opponents in front of very partisan support if they played in Toronto, Chicago, New York?
Man that would be something….
Denis – “We dont have an answer for Lukaku” – he had his opportunities gift wrapped for him so I don’t see him as some major threat like you may. Lukaku is strong and tough to get off the ball but not some soccer genius, I think Rooney, Ibra, Balotelli and many more are far tougher to mark than he is and we seemed to do a decent job with them!
We’ve beat Germany in the past, but that doesn’t = we will do it again…they are a mentally strong team and always have something to prove if they have lost to their opponents in the past!
Croatia have to get their standard 7 players before we start the road to the world cup, there may be room for 3 players rotating based on the opponents or if they are in form or not…I think Players like Perisic, Rebic, Dudu and a few more have to compete for starting positions to make the team healthy and competitive. The rest (7 standard) should be in form players that have experience and have proven to be responsible in the past…ie…Modric, Corluka, Mandzukic…
I’m not overly concerned for any team we play, the ball is round for both teams, we have strengths and weaknesses but the most important thing will be how well we gel as a team right when the tournament starts! That’s a very key factor…the world cup is a tournament and sometimes the team that is best prepared gets the best results…even if they aren’t considered the “best”!
Platini helps france agian majke mi nemoj mi reci! Sad.
@Nije Bitno
Thanks for the clarification and the chuckle….still laughing.
@Bee,
Japan was amazing against the Netherlands a few weeks back in a 2-2 draw.
we beat Korea 2-1 in a friendly with Vida scoring the fluke winner I believe.
Both sides have speed that our defense will struggle against.
US is young, defense is mediocre at best, and donovan-altidore-johnson-dempsey attack doesnt scare me. I would rather face them then japan or korea.
@Sude Mi,
Germany is a better side than uruguay and colombia. However, against germany has struggled against us. In 2008, we beat them group stage but germany still made the final.
Mexico played a pub tem New Zealand to qualify but that was a completely different team and with a new and better coach. The new mexico team is practically all Club America controlled by the former Club America manager. These players know each other better than they know their own wives. Add chicarito and a few european players and this team is dangerous.
Also, this grading scale is based on match ups.
Sude mi – I’m sure anon writes better English than he speaks. When he speaks English I’m sure it sounds like ka da govno u ustima melje! No need to give him the time of day brate.
Denis – are you guys going to do a mock draft?
@Anon
I actually speak much better than I write, and in the world of texting and infinite blogs there is something that is called a type-o that any rational person accounts for when reading.
Not sure why it was your intention to mock other than to make yourself feel better.
In any event, I’m not impressed. Maybe put a name to your posts and in future you might be taken semi-seriously.
Contribute to the dialogue or take a flying leap off the nearest tenement building where you live.
ahahahahahahaha – what the f is that anyway?
Joker immitation?!?
I might even be willing to face Germany over Belgium. We dont have an answer for Lukaku. Croatia has no answer against him. Also, if we put more attention on lukaku, that leaves other quality players more room to operate. We always do well against Germany and they will most likely be without Khedira.
Sude Mi
ahahaha, certainly better than you speak Croatian.
I’d put Costa Rica ahead of Mexico….even Honduras as far as I’m concerned have shown much more in the last 18 months than Mexico.
I’d also Have Germany ahead of Uruguay and Columbia, but that’s me.
Good effort though and I agree with you this is the fun part!
why is japan so high up there? and didnt we beat a s. korea side in a friendly like 4-0 or something i cannot recall? But i honestly dont think those two are that quality of teams they are beatable, i think the USA might be the best team in that pot
Sta van je ljudi? Opet ste poceli gristi jedno drugo?
Ocito da van je dosadno. Ote stagod raditi.
Of course we have to analyze possible opponents. Thats part of the fun.
Like I said, for Croatia its all about matchups.
I rate the US higher than Mexico, but only slightly.
Here is my “matchups” for Croatia ratings for pot 3
(rated from hardest to easiest match up for Croatia)
1) Japan
2) Korea
3) USA
4) Mexico
5) Costa Rica
6) Honduras
7) Australia
8) Iran
One of the bottom four and our chances to advance goes up dramatically.
Pots one and two are all quality with maybe Algeria being the worst side.
Pot 1:
1) Brazil
2) Argentina
3) Uruguay
4) Colombia
5) Germany
6) Belgium
7) Spain
8) Swiss
.

Not sure why you guys are so fearful of Mexico…..if you consider we qualified through the backdoor, they basically crawled in naked!
I watched many a game in CONCACAF qualifying over the last few years and this is NOT the same Mexico we had grown to expect as a very good, technically sound nation.
They are poor attacking, no flair, no passion and seem disorganized and disinterested most of the time. Have a look at how many manager’s they went through just to get to Brazil.
Bring on Mexico, please!!!!!
USA would be another story, tough as tough could be for Cro….
@ Adame
I think Croatia vs. the Bosanjeros would be an even match up in m book. They have a solid midfield, as do we. I’d rate their attack a notch above ours (Olic/Mandzukic/Dudu vs. Dzeko/Ibisevic – sorry I’d take the Bosanci in that duel), both of our backlines are meh and I’d rate Begovic higher than Stipe … but our NT has way more international experience than BiH and our players in general play in much better leagues, so it would be even in my book.
Its all about matchups. Who does Croatia match up well with?
I wouldnt mind being in pot B, however, that guarantees us a match up against Brazil/Argentina/Uruguay or Colombia. At the same time, we avoid the African sides.
going by the odds and favorable match ups for Croatia, its best that we are with the European nations in pot 4.
We avoid: Portugal, France, Holland, Bosna
and have a chance to draw:
Algeria instead of a European side
Switzerland
Belgium
Spain
I like our chances against Spain. We match up well against them.
Pot 3 is the most important.
We want to avoid: Korea, Japan, Mexico and USA. We have a 50% chance to avoid them. The other four are all winable.
Adame,
It depends for me. I don’t consider victories against Bosna or the US automatic. If that group was to happen, I’d root for Hrvatska and the US to advance all day long.
We generally do well against European teams.
I’d prefer we don’t get any South American squads.
I think a group consisting of Brazil, Bosna, Hrvatska and USA would be ideal for us. Im positive that we can beat the US and Bosna any day of the week. Brazil would be the only team to worry me.
Its really annoying that France isnt in pot B automatically as the lowest placed Euro Nation. Platini is French so……….It would be bad luck for us to be drawn into pot 2 with the African/Weaker South American teams because then we are almost guaranteed a really hard group.
So did Simunic not take the money and were donating to a charity now or are we just donating it straight to a charity?
I wouldn’t call the Brazil – Hrvatska – Bosna – USA a group of death. At least not for Brazil. They owuld laughing if that is what they got.
Second place would be up for grabs in that group with us being a slight favorite.
A group featuring Argentina – Hrvatska – Netherlands/Italy/France/etc – Mexico would be death. Playing any S. American side in Brazil will be hard.
@Anonymous
pise ti pa citaj, ….ako ti bas hrvatski ne ide, iz brijeste
potentially bad news on the draw for Brasil!
http://gol.dnevnik.hr/clanak/nogomet/reprezentacije/danas-prvi-dio-zdrijeba-za-svjetsko-prvenstvo-u-brazilu—313711.html
A South American team from Pot 1 (Brazil, Argentina, Columbia or Uruguay) will be drawn with a random Pot 4 team, then that group will face yet another team from Pot 4 and a team from Pot 3 but NONE from Pot 2 (the African and South American teams).
So it could be crazy group of death like:
Brazil – Hrvatska – Bosna – USA
or
Argentina – Hrvatska – Netherlands/Italy/France/etc – Mexico
Personally, I hope it’s the Greeks and Russia or something like that
