Luka Modrić opened up the scoring for AC Milan vs. Bologna in the 2nd half Sunday night with a wonderful shot as he made a run into the box. It ended up being the lone goal of the match in the 1-0 victory. Modrić was given an 8.7 FOTMOB rating and MOTM honors! The guy just turned 40 this week and is scoring game winning bangers in Serie A. Amazing!
Football Italia: “Earlier this week, Modric tweeted ‘age is just a number’ and what a way to follow that up than with arguably his best performance in Rossoneri colours. The talismanic midfielder scored the winning goal and was reliable both in terms of passing and defending throughout the match. At 40 years old, the Croatian played 90 minutes, an impressive feat.”
Lovro Majer scored for Wolfsburg Saturday a in crazy 3-3 draw vs. Koln; with three goals coming in injury time. In the 2nd half, Majer crashed the box and found the back of the net to make it 2-1 in the 65th minutes. It is Majer’s first goal of the young Bundesliga season.
Luka Vušković had a rough day at the office as his first Bundesliga match for Hamburg (on loan from Tottenham) was against mighty Bayern Munich in a 5-0 loss. Vušković was given a tough 5.7 Sofascore rating as Hamburg conceded on five occasions. Outside of the 5th and final goal where Harry Kane turned on 18 year-old in the box, no other goal was really Vušković’s fault. Not an ideal result for him in his first top-5 league debut, but he his playing 90 minutes in the Bundesliga against Bayern at 18 years old. Impressive.
Joško Gvardiol returned from injury to play 90 minutes at CB for Manchester City Sunday in a 3-0 victory over Manchester United. Not much for Gvardiol to do on his return as he was given a 7/10 grade from Manchester Evening News as it was his “First game of the season and in central defence. Had a quiet afternoon but was never really tested by a United attack that was staggeringly poor.”
Andrej Kramarić converted a penalty in a 4-2 Hoffenheim victory over Union Berlin. Three matches into the season, Hoffenheim sit 6th place in the Bundesliga on 6 points points three matches in.
Igor Matanović scored twice for Freiburg (one from the penalty spot) in Freiburg’s 3-1 victory over Stuttgart Saturday. He received MOTM honors with a 8.4 FOTMOB rating.
Dominik Livaković’s Girona debut will have to wait. He remained on the bench as an unused sub in a 1-1 draw vs. Celta Vigo.
I think matanovic should be our striker, absolute beast, has good placement .
Dalić should and company should really consider playing Matanovic more, hes an absolute beast, great placement, I think he can be our striker we’re missing.
Gvardiol starting for City. That is good news. . . . . We need him to be ready for Czechia game.
I watched the entire game of Hamburg v Bayern.
A heck of a tough game for Vuskovic to have to make his debut in.
5-0 Bayern, and Bayern was firing on all eight cylinders.
Vuskovic might have, as has been said, done better on the second goal. Fourth was an own goal, he tried to get a foot on it and it deflected in, those kinds of things do happen . . . And on the fifth goal, it seems he maybe gives Kane a little too much room, but he is up against a top striker and Kane makes a quality move to score. A learning experience.
Overall, other than that I thought he was pretty solid and that says something for an 18-year old in the Bundesliga. At one point he made a good break accelerating down the middle with the ball creating a chance though he might have done better with it in the end, while defending he got his head on some crosses into the box, dribbled and passed the ball well.
I saw Khusanov’s shaky debut for ManCity. Vuskovic looked 10x better in his first game.
If you look at both Fotmob and Sofascore, it seems he is probably Hamburg’s highest ranked defender in the game.
I would say a tough game to debut in, for sure, but by no means a terrible debut for Vuskovic. A couple of lapses, if you want to call them that, but otherwise solid.
Jakic came out of the Augsburg game with an injury today. He was substituted about half way through.
Any details? Did anyone see it?
He is a guy who has been playing well . . . we need him to be healthy for the upcoming game against Czechia.
Igor had a huge debut today for Freiburg.
He came on in the 77th minute with his team down 1-0.
I watched the game from the point Igor came on the field.
He is a physical presence out there, I guess we could say more Budimir than Ivanovic, and he sees the field well. Handles the ball well for a big player, makes surprisingly good passes.
He showed real skill on the first goal which was a huge goal that tied the game. He scored three minutes after he came on the field.
The winger breaks down the right side of the field and crosses it and Igor, breaking to the net was being challenged closely by the defender . . . . . but he somehow got his left foot on it and the goalie never had a chance. Hits just on the inside of the far post and it’s in. I thought he showed excellent skill to get his foot on that ball and strike it the way he did.
He then scored on a penalty, he hesitates and lets the goalie commit, and then just put it low into the wide open side of the net.
Overall fine performance to kick off his season. Has to give him some confidence scoring two goals.
Player of the game Fotmob and Sofascore.
I especially like the fact that he called for the pass and was pointing where exactly he wanted it.
Beware of juventus young star adzic..groomed by tudor..he may score the sucker punch goal to kill croatia hopes of automatic qualification.
Just take note of him.
Vuskovic deflected diaz shot..resulting in 4th goal. It could be an own goal.
Kane last goal, vuksovic didnt mark him well enough.
He could have intercepted first goal as well. Cant see any tackles from him..
Unfortunately, Bayern is continuing the tradition of beating down HSV (it’s currently 4-0 at halftime).
I believe Bayern has a 53-3 GF/GA against HSV in their last 10 games.
Vuskovic was not at fault for the first and fourth goals.
Vuskovic was at fault for Bayern’s second goal (Pavlovic). He should have intercepted that pass (and it went right by him).
I didn’t see the foul that led to the third goal (Harry Kane’s PK). Not sure if Luka was involved in that one.
Hopefully this game has no impact on Luka starting in future games.
Vuskovic at fault for the fifth goal too.
Not a good game for Luka Vuskovic.
Matanovic with 2 goals, Majer and Kramaric score as well.
Pjaca scored in his debut.
Lots of our guys with a good start to the season this month.
Bundesliga is one of the best in Europe and Vuskovic will struggle there especially against strong teams like Bayern.
HSV are already struggling, and they are not obliged to play Vuskovic since there is no clause in the deal to buy him at the end of the season. We can only hope that he will get to play regularly.
It’s not his fault.
HSV played three in the back and threw him into the fire against Bayern in his first game.
You could’ve put Gvardiol there today and the score would’ve been there same.
Bayern looks great this season.
12:00 EDT
Sucic bench (for now) vs. Igor Tudor
And Luka vuskovic is starting today vs stanisic and Bayern
Igor matanovic with a brace on his his debut with Freiburg – came on in the 78 th and the team was down 1-0
Dalic: Vuskovic not ready for 90 min vs. Faroe lol
Meanwhile
Vuskovic Bundesliga debut starting vs. Kane, Olise, Diaz and Gnabry today @ 12:30pm EDT
n.b. Man City beat RB Leipzig 7-0 – with Gvardiol CB – and still bought him that summer – so the score today isn’t important – it’s how he plays
Looks like Luka Sucic isn’t even on the bench today against real. I can’t believe he’s fallen that out of favour.
It’s obvious that soccer and his career are not a priority to him.
Women can do this to you
He is out with an illness. All you have to do in today’s world is Google something and you will get an answer, rather than guess and post totally bogus claims.
