Luka Modrić opened up the scoring for AC Milan vs. Bologna in the 2nd half Sunday night with a wonderful shot as he made a run into the box. It ended up being the lone goal of the match in the 1-0 victory. Modrić was given an 8.7 FOTMOB rating and MOTM honors! The guy just turned 40 this week and is scoring game winning bangers in Serie A. Amazing!
Football Italia: “Earlier this week, Modric tweeted ‘age is just a number’ and what a way to follow that up than with arguably his best performance in Rossoneri colours. The talismanic midfielder scored the winning goal and was reliable both in terms of passing and defending throughout the match. At 40 years old, the Croatian played 90 minutes, an impressive feat.”
Lovro Majer scored for Wolfsburg Saturday a in crazy 3-3 draw vs. Koln; with three goals coming in injury time. In the 2nd half, Majer crashed the box and found the back of the net to make it 2-1 in the 65th minutes. It is Majer’s first goal of the young Bundesliga season.
Luka Vušković had a rough day at the office as his first Bundesliga match for Hamburg (on loan from Tottenham) was against mighty Bayern Munich in a 5-0 loss. Vušković was given a tough 5.7 Sofascore rating as Hamburg conceded on five occasions. Outside of the 5th and final goal where Harry Kane turned on 18 year-old in the box, no other goal was really Vušković’s fault. Not an ideal result for him in his first top-5 league debut, but he his playing 90 minutes in the Bundesliga against Bayern at 18 years old. Impressive.
Joško Gvardiol returned from injury to play 90 minutes at CB for Manchester City Sunday in a 3-0 victory over Manchester United. Not much for Gvardiol to do on his return as he was given a 7/10 grade from Manchester Evening News as it was his “First game of the season and in central defence. Had a quiet afternoon but was never really tested by a United attack that was staggeringly poor.”
Andrej Kramarić converted a penalty in a 4-2 Hoffenheim victory over Union Berlin. Three matches into the season, Hoffenheim sit 6th place in the Bundesliga on 6 points points three matches in.
Igor Matanović scored twice for Freiburg (one from the penalty spot) in Freiburg’s 3-1 victory over Stuttgart Saturday. He received MOTM honors with a 8.4 FOTMOB rating.
Dominik Livaković’s Girona debut will have to wait. He remained on the bench as an unused sub in a 1-1 draw vs. Celta Vigo.
With Stanisic out for LB
Will Dalic repurpose Marco P as LB ?
There is precedent of this: Pranjic,
Saka at Arsenal, etc
Will be ironic (and on point for Dalic) that Marco gets first start and it’s at LB
He’s actually responsible defensively so not the craziest
Otherwise Bradaric, Barasic, or ?
Gvardiol will be put as LB.
Duje probably stays on as starter next to Šutalo.
Barišić is likely done with the national team after suffering a brutal injury last season in his first match in La Liga. He will be lucky if he even gets to continue his career.

FC Bayern will be without Josip Stanišić for the foreseeable future. The defender suffered a partial rupture of the medial ligament in his right knee during Wednesday’s Champions League opening win over Chelsea (3-1). The diagnosis was confirmed during an examination carried out by the FC Bayern medical unit.
This is brutal news. He has had such terrible luck with injuries.
Gvardiol still recovering match fitness..no risk to be taken
Jakic: seems injured
Stanisic: injured
Sutalo: not starting
P. Sucic: not starting recently
L. Sucic: not even appearing
Bat: not starting at all
Kovacic: injured
Modric: only player on form..40 yr old
Perisic: stop scoring recently
Budimir: still finding his form
Ivanovic: mourinho likes to play with one striker, his 4231 or 433 formation may not suit ivanovic given that pav is no. 1 striker
Livakovic: benched as gk is gazzaniga now
Our backups
Majer clicking
Mario P: starting but always sub off early
Vlasic: finding his form
Pongracic and DCC: like bramble and boumsong
Matanovic: let see
Musa: not going europe soon
Juranovic: where is he now?
Sosa: lol
Marco P: playing in msl
Beware of montenegro: they have players on form in serie A and juventus and atalanta and we do not know their tactics once pro is sacked
I guess it’s all over
Doooooom
We’ll clinch 1st place before the crna gora game. Nothing to worry about.
We have to remember, that every player in a squad is a human being and a very very talented footballer player. With a family, a back story, hopes, dreams and ambitions. When one of our players signs for a club, baturina, ivanovic, sucic, whoever. There is absolutely no reason they should automatically start for the team. They are just another talented player in a roster of 30 players. Why would we expect them to immediately make their mark? They have to prove they are better than the other options, this takes time and it’s part of their growth as a player. It’s a tough test. Sometimes people here seem to think that other non Croat players are “non player characters”, just names we’ve never heard of. But that’s only because haven’t studied those players. If you were to take a look at the players currently in front of our guys you might say “oh shit, this guy is really really good”. I believe in all our players but there is no God given right for them to be first choice at any club. It has to be earned.
It doesn’t make them a bust. If baturina gets in the como team does it make whoever he replaces a bust? It just doesn’t work like that. It’s a long road. Don’t underestimate just how competitive it is and how incredible the likes of modric and perisic are to do what they do. It’s the most competitive industry on earth. Talent on its own it’s nothing. There are millions of super talented footballers in the world. MILLIONS
Nice post, and great thoughts on humility.
Thanks. Let’s do some maths in our head just to get a picture. 8 billion world population. Half boys. 4 billion. Half like football. 2 Billion. Quarter are the right age to compete. 500 million. What’s a bell curve look like on a population of 500 million? If you count 1 in 500 as a talent that gives 1 million talents world wide. How many spots are available on top five league teams? 1,100. That means for baturina to play first team for Como he needs to beat out 1000 guys with serious football talent over the course of his career. Let’s reduce it by a factor of 10 to make it include only exceptional talents. That’s 100 players who could easily believe they are better than baturina. He has to prove he is better than them all. Just to play at Como
5 weeks into the season and he is a “lazy bust”. Lmao
Stanisic got injured for Bayern in the 50th minute and had to be subbed, he walked off with a slight limp.
Watched the reply and while contesting an aerial duel looks like he got hit from the side just below his knee while still off the ground? hopefully nothing major? We need everyone to be fit for the match against Chechia.
Yeah MART, I’m sweating on the form and fitness of our guys before the big game in Prague. Thankfully Stanisic seems to be okay…

Good news.
Ange got t-bagged by Modric’s Swansea after being up 2-0 in the cup today to lose 2-3 (2 goals in extra time)
Nasty
@Anonymous looks like you boy Susic is only getting garbage time with Inter now…..that was quick. He did last long in the starting line up.
Petar Sucic should be everyone’s boy really, we need to route for all these players to have success.
Really all the Croatian players should be our guys, assuming that we’re all Croatian here…
Where can Anonymous watch Jagusic’s brace today ?????!
MaxSport only showed Istra and Rijeka games y’day/today

How is Olic / Dalic supposed to track him ???
How is Anonymous supposed to eye test him ???

Jaga is fine. Relax brother man.
Jaga is fine btw
Jaga is just fine. Go sleep
Is Jaga that fine?
Must be nice to have porcelain veneers luka. Can you help out your fellow denizens? Much help requiring.
Why isn’t Sutalo starting for Ajax today vs Inter?
Seems as if Sutalo has lost his starting job due to his injury. He was in the team of the season last year in the Dutch league so odd that he would be benched. Only guess is the other 2 defenders playing in his absence have played so well the coach doesn’t want to change the lineup.
Susic also on the bench for Inter.
Orsic entered the game in the 33rd min for Pafos. He played OK.
Mourinho usually likes Croatian players (except for Liva). But he has an affinity for our players. If Ivanovic is the real deal, Mou will give him a chance
Jaga having himself some fun today. His gf ok
Reports are that Benfica have sacked their coach after 3 -2 loss at home to Qarabag. This could be bad news for Ivanovic ?
Media outlets are also reporting that Prosinecki has been sacked by Montenegro? yet to be confirmed officially.
Teams usually lift their performance for the new coach let’s hope that is not the case when we come up against Montenegro in November.
It could be.
Then again, if the new coach has both Ivanovic and Pavlidis start together more consistently then it would open the door for Dalic to see that he could just start Ivanovic with Budimir (and close the door on the ‘who starts at RW’ issue).
Re: Montenegro…
I figured that Prosinečki would get fired. He looks checked out.
Regardless of how well Montenegro perform moving forward, the main event for us will be in Prague.
We are 3 points ahead of the Czech, and even if we lose points in Prague (via a draw) we still remain 3 points ahead of them (and could still lose points in Montenegro and still finish first).
The Czech game is first (on October 9) so we’ll know our situation before the game in Montenegro anyway.
The big game is already only three weeks away!
@Maminjo we are not three points ahead, we are tied with the Czechs (who originate from White Croats by the way) on 12 points, however we have played one less game than the Czechs.
Hence, three points ahead.
My point still stands that we can lose points to the Czechs (with a draw) and we could still lose to Montenegro after that and still top the group.
The answer is TBD
Mourinho is a complete wildcard – sometimes he picks completely random players, loves them and those are his guys (the opposite is also true too if he doesn’t like the player)
All we know is Franjo has a clean slate and he has no to prove himself
It is in God’s hands
Is Franjo already regretting leaving USG for Benfica today ?
Yikes

Ha !
So true
The season just started….enough with Bati hate. He is a young player in a new league. He was Dinamo’s best player during last year Champions League run and that was when Susic was injured.
Sutalo was getting the same type of hate at Ajax in his first season. Some players just take longer to adjust.
He’ll be fine.
He’s more of a future prospect for us (since we are pretty deep in that #10 position).
For the World Cup, we have Krama in that spot behind the striker (Budimir), and we have a lot of in form guys (like Majer) who can come off the bench…and possibly Luka Sucic (if he gets back into form).
Even Modric will likely play minutes there (if we want to start both Petar Sucic and Kovacic in the pivot)…and even Mario Pasalic is best suited off the bench in that role.
He gotta hit the weight room a bit, then he’ll be fine
Igor t-bagged Niko in extra time
Nasty stuff
Won’t get that taste out of his mouth for a long time
Why are people blaiming Paz for Baturina not playing ?
Paz is mostly playing 90’
Baturina is getting subbed by taking another non-Paz midfielder off
So when Baturina comes on he is playing alongside Paz
Stop blaiming Paz
Baturina isn’t ahead of midfielders who do play majority of game w Paz
Baturina is currently 6th or 7th choice midfielder
If it was due to Paz then we’d only see Baturina come on for Paz going off
Wow
Folks saying Baturina is the new Ante Coric
x.com/kim_86_/status/1967825985925251501?s=46
Baturina made the mistake of going to Italy, I also worry for Sucic at Inter.
What’s wrong with Italy, our players have been very successful there in the past?
Quite a few of our young very promising players like Coric & Jedvaj from Dinamo and Basic from Hajduk went to Italy and essentially flopped.
They were all teenagers and left Croatia far too early and did not make it and had to leave Italy.
In Italy clubs do not have the patience to develop young players as they expect results immediately. This also applies to Italian youth players who find it difficult to make the starting 11 for their clubs in Seria A.
I don’t think any of those players were that promising at all. They had some major weaknesses and a lot of them were not mentally wired to be successful (like Balić).
I also think you’re overlooking the fact that Dinamo has a reputation of DUMPING players onto other leagues prematurely once they realize that their prospect is not that good (like Antonio Marin, Jedvaj, Ćorić).
Dinamo are usually the best talent evaluators on the continent and they never dump a player before the age of 20 (unless they don’t think the kid has what it takes).
Hajduk’s Serie A transfers (Vukušić and Radošević) were always overrated and Balić (although talented) couldn’t even maintain fitness levels as a teenager. Massive red flag there (and that’s not factoring having to deal with his fanatic of a father).
I never thought Ćorić was that good (very weak physically and mentally very immature). I always thought Marko Rog was very sloppy and unskilled (not sure why he was ever considered a big prospect).
Marin and Jedvaj were the ones I thought were talented, but I didn’t watch too much of them as teens and I trust that Dinamo (wisely) figured out that they were also not going to amount to much.
Why?? They have to grow up at some point. They ain’t 15 ffs
Another pity substitution for Baturina (5th of 5 subs)
5 minute cameo
Lazy Baturina 100% responsible for the equalizing goal (what a surprise)
x.com/GoalsXtra/status/1967689495274532910
#25 Genoa cutting inside and Baturina didn’t close him down quickly enough (nor intercept the pass/thru ball next to him – I think he was already exhausted ?)
Once the ball gets by him why does he stroll outside parameter of the box – is he scared what happens if he has to help out in the box in the final minutes ?
You have 5 minutes to make an impact and this is what you do ?
Sad
Really sad
Super, super harsh to label that goal as Baturina’s fault. Saying it was “100%” is fault” is even more inaccurate.
He basically gets the pressure of putting on a show in 10 minutes of play, after barely having played these last weeks.
With more play time he maybe would have provided an assist, a goal, or just a really good match and this would just look like the unlucky peak of the iceberg behind a really good display otherwise
I think it’s just sad and a shame! What a bummer for Baturina so far at Como
Baturina reminds me of Kovacic.
Very skilled and hyped as a youth, but could do better when it comes to physicality and defense.
He’ll get better with age.
Cesc (like most managers) could have brought on an extra defender (eg Smolcic) to protect the 1-0 lead w 5 to go
So it’s clear Bati’s mandate was defense first and if a chance counter for a 2nd
He failed the mandate
Is he fat?
Baturina finally comes on for Como… in the 83rd minute. As long as Nico Paz is there, it looks like this trend will continue.
Nico Paz will be gone next year.
Real added a 10M Euro release clause in their agreement with Como.
Even if Real don’t want him back on their squad, they’ll trigger the clause just to sell him to the highest bidder.
Dalic
For Info, Stanisic played LB in the first half and moves to LCB in the second half vs HSV
will be interesting to see how much and where he plays once Alfonso Davies comes back (they say in October)
I was very intrigued with matanovic when he debuted. Seemed like he had an incredible ability to get on the ball in the box and put stuff on the goal. I found when he played the full game he was less inspiring and i was left wondering if he simply has a weaker motor that he’s better served as a sub with a punch for thirty minutes than a 90 minute guy
Yeah, he’s crap. Doesn’t have the look in his eye like Ivanovic who will kill to get where he wants to go.
This guy no
Well, he’s still young and hopefully he (along with Ivanovic) can become a tandem in the future for us
Hope so. I just wish he was tougher. b. 2003 too. That year will bring us home one day. I’m convinced of it.
We are forgetting that most Croatian soccer players tend to develop in their later years, we cannot expect too much too soon. Few players can achieve the kind of status for example that Gvardiol has. Even on team France, for example, Mbappe was the sole player that started off like this and continued in progression. So if they are few and far between for nations that 10 times the population we have than I don’t think we can expect an exorbitant amount players to progress in such a way.
I don’t like the idea of writing a player of too soon. Matanović had a lot of promise and we need to continue to watch his progression.
I think it is telling how good of nation we are in soccer that we have had the kind of success we had without a generational talent striker, pretty much since Davor Šuker. Mandžukić was a very good striker (spica) but did not have the kind of eye that Šuker had for goal.
We had Eduardo, but he wasn’t born in Croatia.
Perišić has been remarkable as winger, and Kramaric had been very good in his contributions. But again, no true ace.
It’s remarkable when you think about it, really. We have had just about everything else, incredible midfielders like Modrić and Rakitić to the Sučić cousins now. Gvardiol, Luka Vusković (potentially), and Stanišić in his own right.
But we have never really had that incredible ace up front. At least not in my view. We just potential contenders right now.
Very rare to find a Šuker type these days.
Even Spain had a washed up Morata in Euro2024 playing the Budimir role, and relied on their wingers and midfielders for goals.
We should do the same.
Lazy Baturina bench again
🤦♂️
2:45pm EDT
Meanwhile Bradaric is dueling Jamie Vardy (on his Serie A debut) but I’m sure Dalic ain’t watching
There is no reason to call up Sosa, Moro, Pong or Erlic. They are not National Team caliber players. Gvardi is a must at CB paired with Sutalo.
What is the reason that Dalic keeps calling up Moro? Does anyone know? Are they related?
Great question. Considering his age and club playing time, Moro should be nowhere near the NT.
Igor scores one open-play goal – his first in 11 months (for club or country) – and now everyone says he should be the #1 striker for Croatia NT ?
lol
Can we first see if he can stay healthy for more than 5 minutes – as he’s been out for basically 8 months now – stop and start with injuries and the bubble-tea 7 hours away in Hamburg
Then let’s see if he can become a starter and score on a regular basis in the Bundesliga
Funny thing is that Dalić himself is the biggest Matanović stan.
He started Igor in our UNL matches the moment Igor played one minute with Frankfurt.
He wouldn’t do that with any young player.
I fully expect Matanović to get a callup in October now, haha.
I actually don’t mind Matanović getting the call up at all. I liked what I saw from Matanović in those UNL matches personally. He had good positioning and was very unlucky not to score at least one goal.
This is thing for me, Dalic could drop one of the other unnecessary call ups and he could have Budimir, Matanović, Ivanovic, Krama, Perisic, and Marco Pašalić/Pjaca on the list at the front. I think it’s fair to say at this point that the weakest link at the back is Borna Sosa, so I don’t see him getting a call up even though that still may happen. Maybe if his game play changes in the next few months but he was really bad in that game against Faroe Islands, definitely the worst player on the team.
I agree with a Matanović callup for the purpose of having a proper backup for Budimir.
I think Dalić needs to stop subbing in Ivanović as Budimir’s backup (they are completely different types of forwards), and he should probably start the two of them together.
We should always have a tall power forward up top in the špica.
Budimir should always get the start in that role, and we should call up one of Matanović, Beljo or Kulenović as his direct backup (playing the exact same role, with Perišić and Ivanović on each side).
Did anyone watch Benfica / Franjo on Friday ?
Kule nice goal y’day (and even better celebration) – he also scored 2 (but could have had 3 or 4) in the cup game during the week (in the highlights he was playing well – one play stood out where he tracked all the way back to help the DZ LB and won the ball and started a real good counter attack downfield)
Is Kule ahead of DDB at DZ yet ?
Kulenovic will never start ahead of Beljo (despite being more efficient this season). It would be too embarrassing for Boban to have his record-breaking transfer get usurped by a similar player that we already had on the squad.
Not hating on what Boban has done for Dinamo, but I definitely questioned that expensive move.
That actually sounds like a great idea. I never thought of the idea Ivanovic playing on the right wing. Given that he refuses to play Marco Pašalić why not play Ivanovic there.
I would also keep Majer/Luka Sucic to sub in with Krama given that they like to play more aggressively in that midfield position.
I can’t help but wonder if we are going to have some growing pains in the backline. Every time we put a step forward it seems like two steps back. I think that Pongracic, Barisic, Sosa should not be called up at this stage unless it’s absolutely necessary. Until they become more consistent I would hold off. Dalic needs to reconsider other options right now.
With Jakić playing the way he did Sosa has dropped out of his spot I think. Barisic and Pongracic commit too many errors when they play and just don’t seem strong for us.
Someone said not to give Erlic the nod, I am not so sure on that one. The Šutalo/ Erlic combination worked at one point so I don’t think I would drop him at all that could be costly. I would keep Erlic on the list personally. I would also keep Duje, he has had some very good games for us at times even though the one against Faroe Islands wasn’t the greatest for him. He was pretty solid in the previous two from what I could remember.
I haven’t really seen Smolcic play. Does anyone have information on his progression. If Luka Vuskovic has great games with HSV I am hoping he gets the nod because then at least we would have a substitute for Gvardiol which we would need. Vuskovic could provode a lot more depth.
I feel like are some gaps to fill here and maybe Dalic is feeling the same way. It cannot be easy.
True
Didn’t he first call him up when he was still in German tier 2 ?
Igor played very good the game he started for the NT – that’s not my point – but the NT needs players that are playing constantly for their clubs
Up to Igor to prioritize football again after the Hamburg bubble-tea distraction
Yeah that’s true, I am just not sure those options are open at every stage. Many of the players that are playing consistently are not playing well for the National Team (namely the three I mentioned). These players have also had ample opportunities to showcase themselves.
There are some players that have breakaway season like Vuskovic, in two different leagues even though they are not considered top tier. We will see how this start of the season goes at HSV.
Čolak for example had an amazing season for the Rangers but it made very little difference in Dalic’s eyes(during that Nations League) I think because of the fact that it’s not a top tier league in his eyes. So, he doesn’t always seem to be following that rule of playing players who are playing consistently.
I cannot remember if it was at a the 2022 World Cup or the Nation’s league prior that Čolak had is breakaway season at the Rangers.
It was like a month before the 2022 World Cup.
Can the coaches (maybe Olic) tell Jagusic to stop celebrating before the ball is in the back of the net ?
He did it twice (at least) – first, the Mitrovic goal – beforehand when the corner came in and defender headed it against the cross-bar – Jagusic’s hands went up and he stopped playing for a second – second, his inventive low corner kick that almost caught the keeper napping on the line but was saved – again his hands went up to celebrate before the ball actually went in, while he should have been running towards the box after he took the corner
They need to teach him to play until the ball is in and/or the whistle goes – this early celebration crap needs to stop – it makes him look silly (also the disbelief when he misses a chance, like that header at the end) and like he’s not a serious competitor
Stop the theatrics and play football at 100%, at all times, with 100% concentration levels
So Luka shut down the PL’s #2 all-time scorer and England’s #1 all-time score for 64 minutes, save one play where Harry created a 1/2 yard of space and got a shot off (which even Ivusic, when he’s not letting in OGs, would have saved) ?
Sounds like a resounding success and excellent debut – why aren’t you positioning it like that ?
Bayern beat RB Leipzig 6-0, so comparatively, HSV did very well
Meanwhile – all the other Croatia CBs were all responsible for EVERY SINGLE GOAL THEIR TEAM LET IN THIS WEEKEND – EVERY SINGLE ONE – why not highlight that ?
Sutalo – came on and in one minute gave up the ball and then didn’t track his man back (why put in the effort, being fresh and all) and PEC scored – #22 is his man and he just stops running/tracking him (actually he pushes him which creates space b/w himself and #22 which is the opposite of what a CB should do – this is a common theme as you will see)
***.youtube.com/watch?v=Pi9DRiNuMfc
Pong – responsible for all three goals – first, didn’t clear the danger out of the box before the penalty was awarded – second, Man U reject Rasmus completely embarrassed him with a run in front of Pong and then (for some strange reason) Pong pushed him away and towards the goal to create even more space/distance between them lol – third, didn’t follow his man when the corner came in who dropped Pong and was free and scored
***.youtube.com/watch?v=jZLQejJ117E
DCC – responsible for both goals – first, he let Mbappe run right by him, actually, similar to Sutalo and Pong, he pushed him even farther away from him to create even more space/distance between them – second, he didn’t intercept (clear the danger) of the obvious pass coming in and than was just flat footed ball watching as Guler go by him and score – keep in mind Madrid was down to 10 men for 60 minutes and they still beat DCC (if they had 11 men, it probably would have been 5 or 6 goals for Madrid)
***.youtube.com/watch?v=bZfbse3_QLo
Erlic – responsible for the goal – he tried to step up and close his man – but too slow got there too late as the ball was flicked past him – than pushes his opponent away from him and towards the goal to create even more space/distance between them – and than walks back towards goal (why bother tracking back)
***.youtube.com/watch?v=SqaDjP05g0g
40 years young and leading AC Milan ?!
Luka legend continues ..
Allegri is a master tactician and is maximizing Modrić.
That goal sums up the career of Luka Modrić.
Starts the move with a forward pass to his midfield teammate and trails with intelligence, sees the play and runs into space and bangs in a game winner when his teams needs him most.
He will be sharp for Czechia.
And we will be healthy and strengthened across the board.
I think matanovic should be our striker, absolute beast, has good placement .
Dalić should and company should really consider playing Matanovic more, hes an absolute beast, great placement, I think he can be our striker we’re missing.
He probably will play again now that he’s back from injury.
Gvardiol starting for City. That is good news. . . . . We need him to be ready for Czechia game.
I watched the entire game of Hamburg v Bayern.
A heck of a tough game for Vuskovic to have to make his debut in.
5-0 Bayern, and Bayern was firing on all eight cylinders.
Vuskovic might have, as has been said, done better on the second goal. Fourth was an own goal, he tried to get a foot on it and it deflected in, those kinds of things do happen . . . And on the fifth goal, it seems he maybe gives Kane a little too much room, but he is up against a top striker and Kane makes a quality move to score. A learning experience.
Overall, other than that I thought he was pretty solid and that says something for an 18-year old in the Bundesliga. At one point he made a good break accelerating down the middle with the ball creating a chance though he might have done better with it in the end, while defending he got his head on some crosses into the box, dribbled and passed the ball well.
I saw Khusanov’s shaky debut for ManCity. Vuskovic looked 10x better in his first game.
If you look at both Fotmob and Sofascore, it seems he is probably Hamburg’s highest ranked defender in the game.
I would say a tough game to debut in, for sure, but by no means a terrible debut for Vuskovic. A couple of lapses, if you want to call them that, but otherwise solid.
4th wasn’t an OG – it was award to Diaz (so by definition can’t be Luka’s fault)
Otherwise, agree with your balanced assessment
5th goal – keeper should have saved it – #21 and #8 went 2 vs. 1 on Olise and neither of them blocked the cross (#21 should have made a sliding tackle in that direction when Olise cut inside) – #21 lost Harry 3 times from Bayern’s box – Harry was his man (watch the reverse angle replay and just follow #21 and Harry)
Jakic came out of the Augsburg game with an injury today. He was substituted about half way through.
Any details? Did anyone see it?
He is a guy who has been playing well . . . we need him to be healthy for the upcoming game against Czechia.
Igor had a huge debut today for Freiburg.
He came on in the 77th minute with his team down 1-0.
I watched the game from the point Igor came on the field.
He is a physical presence out there, I guess we could say more Budimir than Ivanovic, and he sees the field well. Handles the ball well for a big player, makes surprisingly good passes.
He showed real skill on the first goal which was a huge goal that tied the game. He scored three minutes after he came on the field.
The winger breaks down the right side of the field and crosses it and Igor, breaking to the net was being challenged closely by the defender . . . . . but he somehow got his left foot on it and the goalie never had a chance. Hits just on the inside of the far post and it’s in. I thought he showed excellent skill to get his foot on that ball and strike it the way he did.
He then scored on a penalty, he hesitates and lets the goalie commit, and then just put it low into the wide open side of the net.
Overall fine performance to kick off his season. Has to give him some confidence scoring two goals.
Player of the game Fotmob and Sofascore.
I especially like the fact that he called for the pass and was pointing where exactly he wanted it.
Beware of juventus young star adzic..groomed by tudor..he may score the sucker punch goal to kill croatia hopes of automatic qualification.
Just take note of him.
Vuskovic deflected diaz shot..resulting in 4th goal. It could be an own goal.
Kane last goal, vuksovic didnt mark him well enough.
He could have intercepted first goal as well. Cant see any tackles from him..
Unfortunately, Bayern is continuing the tradition of beating down HSV (it’s currently 4-0 at halftime).
I believe Bayern has a 53-3 GF/GA against HSV in their last 10 games.
Vuskovic was not at fault for the first and fourth goals.
Vuskovic was at fault for Bayern’s second goal (Pavlovic). He should have intercepted that pass (and it went right by him).
I didn’t see the foul that led to the third goal (Harry Kane’s PK). Not sure if Luka was involved in that one.
Hopefully this game has no impact on Luka starting in future games.
Vuskovic at fault for the fifth goal too.
Not a good game for Luka Vuskovic.
Matanovic with 2 goals, Majer and Kramaric score as well.
Pjaca scored in his debut.
Lots of our guys with a good start to the season this month.
Bundesliga is one of the best in Europe and Vuskovic will struggle there especially against strong teams like Bayern.
HSV are already struggling, and they are not obliged to play Vuskovic since there is no clause in the deal to buy him at the end of the season. We can only hope that he will get to play regularly.
It’s not his fault.
HSV played three in the back and threw him into the fire against Bayern in his first game.
You could’ve put Gvardiol there today and the score would’ve been there same.
Bayern looks great this season.
12:00 EDT
Sucic bench (for now) vs. Igor Tudor
And Luka vuskovic is starting today vs stanisic and Bayern
Igor matanovic with a brace on his his debut with Freiburg – came on in the 78 th and the team was down 1-0
Dalic: Vuskovic not ready for 90 min vs. Faroe lol
Meanwhile
Vuskovic Bundesliga debut starting vs. Kane, Olise, Diaz and Gnabry today @ 12:30pm EDT
n.b. Man City beat RB Leipzig 7-0 – with Gvardiol CB – and still bought him that summer – so the score today isn’t important – it’s how he plays
Looks like Luka Sucic isn’t even on the bench today against real. I can’t believe he’s fallen that out of favour.
It’s obvious that soccer and his career are not a priority to him.
Women can do this to you
He is out with an illness. All you have to do in today’s world is Google something and you will get an answer, rather than guess and post totally bogus claims.
