Igor Matanović scored the easiest brace of his career Sunday in Freiburg’s 2-1 win over St. Pauli. The equalizer was a smart deflection of his thigh. The winner was an easy tap-in after the St. Pauli goalie could not parry the ball far enough from the goal box. Nonetheless, Matanović is cooking in the Bundesliga this year. It is his 8th Bundesliga goal of the season but 6th in 2026.
Luka Sučić scored his 2nd La Liga goal of the season Friday as Real Sociedad fell to Villarreal 3-1. Sučić came off the bench at halftime with his side down 3-0 and supplied a goal moments later to kill the Villarreal clean sheet. Sučić half-volleyed the ball into the net with the keeper out of position following a corner. He received a generous deflection on the shot but it will still count the same in a weird season for the high potential Croatian CAM.
Ante Budimir broke the deadlock in the 80th minute for Osasuna vs. Girona Saturday night in a 1-0 victory. It is Budimir’s 14th La Liga goal of the season as he currently sits with the 4th most goals in Spain this season, only behind Mbappe, Muriqi and Lamal.
Martin Baturina and Como keep on rolling in Serie A this season! Baturina scored his 6th Serie A goal of the campaign Sunday in a 5-0 thumping over last place Pisa. Baturina slowly dribbled the ball into a congested Pisa box before cooly slotting home to the bottom-left corner. With the win, Como are now three points clear of both Juventus and Roma for 4th place in Italy. With only eight matches remaining, Como are on track to grab a Champions League berth. Imagine if they make that happen after only coming up to the Italian top flight in 2024.
Petar Musa came off the bench at halftime and scored an 86′ game winner for FC Dallas in a 4-3 win over Houston Saturday night. Musa top-poked the ball through the goalie’s leg for a ‘nutmeg’. It is Musa’s 6th MLS goal in five games to start the season. He will be in Orlando for Croatia’s two friendlies against Brazil and Colombia this week.

Luka Modrić and AC Milan outlasted Torino 3-2 Saturday night. Nikola Vlašić was voted MOTM with an 8.6 player rating converting a 83′ penalty for his 7th Serie A goal of the season. Modrić played the full 90 minutes in the win and received a 7.7 SofaScore rating for his efforts. SempreMilan gave Modrić a 6/10 grade as “The veteran was involved in the second goal, getting into a good position before passing it to Pulisic. However, Torino were very effective at shutting him down and he wasn’t always that super involved, plus the fact that he failed to control the play at the start of the game when Torino created their momentum.”

From SN interview, re: Segecic’s Croatian-dad “input” 😁

Another example of player at tail-end of their career cashing out
It’s nice Marco has a new play-mate – but doesn’t Antonin know Marco’s heading back to Europe ?
The 1998 away kits were the most iconic. There was never a need to change them. It gave the NT an identity much like the Yankee pinstripes. The rest is just BS marketing.
Well now PSV Eindhoven has them
Can Perisic steal a box for the boys to wear this summer please
You know, now that I see what the new kits actually look like they are starting to grow on me. The concept version made it look so weird but the actual version isn’t that bad.
I don’t like that back has less checkers on it but I guess it’s providing space for the names and numbers.
The away strip (blue) is Ok, the home strip IMO one of the worst ever.
Olic nose picking summary just in:
Olic announces squad March 17th and today the final (actual team)
Summary of changes:
Barzic out (Olic didn’t realize his clubs has 3 matches during this window)
Ivan Katic out (Olic didn’t realize he’s injured)
Vito Caic in (not on original stand-by list)
Segecic in (Croatian passport scam)
Sven Lesjaka in
Filip Mazara in
Noel Bodetica in
Barisic who was called – is still injured – Olic hoping he joins Friday but who actually knows
Fran Topic new injury a couple days ago – waiting on medical report
That’s 9 players – NINE
Will HNS ever learn to wait and announce the team with every other country?
Separate – yes ANONYMOUS IS A GENIUS – Anonymous told you that Segecic rebelled against his Croatian dad and now came around – Anonymous was 100% right – the story is Olic got Segecic’s dad’s # from Simunic (his dad lives in Croatia) – and immediately saw he has a Croatian flag on his WhatsApp – so contacted him and they agreed Segecic plays for Croatia – I guess Segecic’s parents are divorced – he grew up with his mother in Australia – probably salty the parents aren’t together and his dad is far away and knows his dad loves Croatia so to get back at him says he’s doing Australia – but finally realized he’s being a moron and came around to what his Croatian dad always wanted – Anonymous ESP is OFF-THE-CHARTS – and btw Segecic is fluent in Croatian – so let’s get behind the boy !
The real reason that Segecic has chosen to play for Croatia is the fact that Tony Popovic (Aussie Croat) coach of Australia has been ignoring Segecic.
Segecic was called up last September to play in two friendlies against a New Zealand in Canberra and Auckland.
In Canberra Segecic was on the bench and never got a minute and in Auckland he was not even on the bench. Not sure why he was not on the bench in Auckland but I’m guessing he was angry and did not travel to NZ and instead returned to Portsmouth.
Segecic also must have found out that he was not going to be called up for Australia’s upcoming friendlies at end of March and that was as they say the final straw.
Segecic is a good player, smallish in stature and has a good shot on him and can score goals. We’ll see if Olic will use him for the U21 match against Turkey ? I reckon he should with so many players injured and many not playing a lot at their clubs.
You saw the SN article ? That’s where this comes from (about Segecic’s dad and all that)
But if he was pissed he wasn’t going to the WC – isn’t this another Wedding Boy v2.0 with an entitled attitude ? Did Marco complain when he was being called up and crazily didn’t play for ages ? No – he stayed level and kept going. Segecic doesn’t play first time called and throws his toys out of the pram. Is it guaranteed Olic actually plays him ??
Are you going to watch March 31st Turkey match ? Jaga is probably going to make Sege look world class lol
It’s nice to see Kranjcar is welcoming him with open (strong) arms – hopefully Segecic’s “smallish in stature” wasn’t why Niko had Olic call him – so he could earn himself so game time via “how he acts at the hotel” (like Musa did with Dalic) – this looks a bit more like a “wedding photo” moreso than a coach and player
x.com/TheCroatian_/status/2036411078419063127
Why are you belittling Musa? He was called up based on performance (in MLS where he is unquestionably dominant) and used his time with the repka to score a top goal and prove he belongs there with overall solid play. If he also happens to be very professional off the pitch, so much the better.
Kits:
https://hns.team/vijesti/30865/predstavljen-novi-dres-hrvatske-nogometne-reprezentacije/
Feels for to finally get rid of those giant block Polish looking kits.
These are nothing special, but at least it look like actual checkers.
Looking forward to the Adidas ones in September.
But won’t we be wearing these till the next euro or does the contract finish and adidas makes new ones right away in September?
That’s good
We need a change
The checkers are sacred
Let adidas keep us simple and beautiful
These new Nike kids are being worn until our contract ends with them (at the end of July).
Adidas will be releasing new kits for us to wear in the next round of games in September.
They obviously don’t want us to still be wearing Nike gear.
Adidas already released the warm up t-shirts (home and away). The away ones are great. They’ll sell those like crazy.
Fitted blue t-shirt with the HNS logo on the left side and the retro adidas trefoil logo on the right. Perfect.
Igor’s dad passed away during the game today (just like Srna). 😢
That sucks. That’s why he didnt do the post press conference. Some were saying it was an excuse because he was getting sacked…
Matanovic with two goals today
Baturina with a goal today
Sutalo had man of the watch today
Perisic with an assist today
Vlasic with a goal
Budimir with a a goal
We have great quality in our offence. I can’t imagine what would happen if Kovacic and Gvardiol get healthy with all these guys and blend together.
Pandur could play in EPL next season. We need more goalies to get noticed and play competitively.
Letica
5 SoT
Let in 4 goals
Well done nose pickers – you know how to pick them LMAO
Pandur 3-1 win y’day
Biondic starting USG
Luka Stojkovic has 5 goals and 6 assists in his last 8 games!
Looking back at his stats, he only started in 5 other games prior to this (from NOV to FEB) and he still managed to get himself 3 goals and 1 assist in those five starts.
This guy really needs to play (and start) every single game.
He may get you 4 or 5 red cards in a season, but he’ll pair it with 15-20 goals and 15-20 assists as well. Take the good with the bad.
And most likely he can tame that some
You can get him to chill more then expect someone to put in that production imo
At the start of the season Dinamo wanted both Stojkovic and Kacavanda to leave the club and be loaned out.
Stojkovic decided to stay and fight for a spot in the starting 11. Dinamo must be glad now that he stayed.
Kacavenda I can understand. He couldn’t crack the Dinamo lineup last year, thanks to his knees being shot and it ruining his explosiveness.
Stojkovic, however, played extremely well last season (and he wasn’t even playing in his favored position).
Weird that they would just ignore that and ask him to go on loan.
Boban and Kovacic seemed to be shuffling chairs on the deck for no reason (by bringing in guys like Ljubicic, Villar, Lisica, etc.) when they already had a much better player on the squad.
Jaga bench for 1pm
No wonder Fruk gets automatic call-up these days
Miskovic was the best man of Kustic at his wedding last week
Now it makes sense
Pays to be kumovi with the federation head sometimes… 😉
Does Kotarski’s “family” issue involve being benched the last three games?
I feel like Igor Tudor entered a real bad situation with Tottenham—-near relegation with many injuries. However, I believe he can’t lose in this situation. If he manages to keep the up, he will look ok. If they go down, I don’t think they can blame him too much. Either way, he still gets his name out there as a coach.
Igor 0-1 at HT
The stadium is rocking (never heard it that loud)
Igor’s team have been playing good (albeit they are letting Forest have too much possession/sitting back at times)
Right before HT Forest 2nd corner and Spence doesn’t stick with Jesus who powers a header in
Gray is such a smart midfielder (elite elite football IQ/reading of the game) – crazy for a 20 y/o
Tel is most improved player this year – full of confidence now – very direct – excellent ball striking
No clue why fans are booing players as they walk off at HT – they are trying their best – it was just a bad a goal to give away – but you don’t need to boo when they need the support – so dumb
Jarrod Bowen also losing 0-1 at HT to Villa
Igor current sits de facto 2 pts ahead of relegation (bc his GD is much better than Jarrod Bowen’s)
Dear Diary …
Ajax v. Feyenoord 0-0 at the half.
I thought Sutalo had a solid first half. He seems to be rounding into better form, but we will probably know more after the March friendlies.
Baturina played well this morning as well. A nice goal, he took it in on his own, moved around a defender,
and fired it low into the corner.
How bad is Semper ?
Como pumping Pisa 5-0 (Baturina scored a nice goal)
And they don’t yank Nicolas and put Semper in
Wow
Šemper outperformed both of the keepers Pisa has put in since. Hard to believe it’s anything other than injury or inner politics of the team. This Nicolas guy has been letting in five goals a game it seems. Šemper was getting clean sheets if I remember correctly…
Dinamo highlights
A lot less selfish (and didn’t pick up any negative body language) by Beljo
Maybe he’s read Anonymous feedback and decided to clean it up ?
He really looked like he was trying to help his teammates and set them up (not just about “me, me, me”)
Is it enough for Dalic to call him up today/tomorrow ? What about Stojko ?
Stojko should definitely be going ahead of Majer and probably Wedding Boy too (based on actually form in calendar year 2026)
@ anonymous Maybe Baturina read your comments as well lol. He’s in the form of his life right now.
Igor vs. Nottingham Forest Sunday 10:15am
Massive, massive relegation fight game – most important game of the season for Sp*rs – it’s really do or die
The thing that is great about Musa playing in MLS is that every game is basically situation practice for him. He’s getting lots of chances to dictate play around the final third and develop into a well-rounded number 9, not just a big guy who can finish. He’s covering more ground than he did at Benfica and getting many more chances to finish and experience what he’s capable of. Sure, he’s a giant fish in that tiny pond, but he’s doing exactly what you would want him to do there and dominating the play. He looks ready to help Croatia win.
That has been my general thoughts, but more clearly stated, but I am open to being wrong, I believe the goal came with only playing half the game. Me is on a blistering 45 minutes playing time per goal.
Time to bury the hatchet, play the other Luka (WB), for set piece free and corner kicks.
The moose is loose again. week after week, but I know it is a terrible league so means little. 6 goals in 4 games.
The talent is really oozing with these gun guns
Baturina
Vušković
Stanišić
Gvardiol
Sucic X2
Ivanovic
Matanovic
Smolcic
Mlacic
Prpic
Will the other Vušković ever come back and play at a top league?
Let’s not get carried away by what we see our Croatian players are doing. Get on the blogs of other nations and you probably will read similar comments. Let’s just hope we stay healthy, have a little luck, and keep that fighting Croatian spirit alive. I like Musa but does the MLS really prove that he is on the level of Budimir?
Musa set up the tying goal and scored the winner tonight. 🫎
Sunday 1pm PAO match
🙏 for Jaga
#JagaLifeMatters
Modric crying to the ref entire time during var hah. After vlasic scored the penalty nice to see him turn around and tell modric off. Hes not used to not playing for dinamo or madrid where all the calls go his way. A minute later milan had a corner and modric did his usual short corner bs where it was quickly closed down, what an idiot. A few minutes after milan had a very close free kick and modric again did the short pass crap, vlasic was ready and quickly stripped the ball from modrics teammate. He better not do this crap while we have vuskovic and budimir in the box.
Modrić’s obsession with short corners (and taking PKs) are his weakness.
Hopefully now with Vušković starting, we just swing the ball into the box every time.
Vuskovic is great at free kicks
See last U21 match
Maybe Modric can make a run into the box and get on the end of one
Nobody will expect it
Has Modric ever had a header goal for club or country ? I mean EVER – can’t think of one
I remember a few years back watching some shouty Youtuber who played FIFA, and someone scored against him with Modric via header and this guy was just going offfff lmao.. “MODRIC!!! With a HEADER?? >What the FUCKK!” lol it was hilarious.
Header goal (no Facebook account needed):
https://www.facebook.com/100044420049874/videos/modrics-goal/242286744629281/
Also if one is going to say he’s used to getting calls for the likes of Dinamo (which was long ago), let’s not exclude that he has played more than twice as many games for Croatia, a team we’ll probably agree doesn’t get “the calls.”
Haha, geez.
The above mentioned Sofascore that gave Modric a 7.7 gave Vlasic a 7.0. Highest score was Milan’s Fofana at 8.0.
Luka Sucic, a left footed striker who has a wicked shot, I think we’ll be regretting not having him . Bit of flake but dude puts in the net.
I still think he has the potential. He looked good at the Euros especially against Albania. But these young guys need to stay humble if they really want to succeed. I hope Vuskovic doesn’t travel that road.
All three Wedding Boy goals this year are complete mishits and/or complete flukes
But a goal is a goal

How does the new Ontario law capping reselling tickets at FACE VALUE impact the World Cup tickets for people buying tickets outside of Ontario ?
i.e. is it based on location of event or is it based on location of individual buying tickets (i.e. if you buy tickets outside Ontario, it doesn’t apply to you) ???
Feel terrible for people that bought tickets at 2x 3x mark-ups – yikes – as now you can get resell tickets at FACE VALUE, but Anonymous did say a few times not to rush to buy tickets at crazy prices and they would be coming down
It says will apply when law comes into effect – when will that be ?
Obviously – don’t be a moron and buy more tickets at 2x or 3x on April 2nd – when the FIFA marketplace portal opens again – if the law comes in effect any time soon (someone needs to clarify) – on the other hand if you are selling tickets sell them ASAP (before the law comes into effect)
Still need to clarify if it’s law on Ontario events or Ontario residents
Does luka sucic really deserve to make the team based on what he’s done this year?
Baturina and Petar are obvious but I just don’t know
Like I want him to be a piece but really should he
No.
Dalic probably feels like he cannot win over the public in this case. It seems like either way people keep disagreeing with his decisions. When Luka Sučić had the whole wedding fiasco (which by the way so think Sučić made a mistake there) Dalic was given a hard time for not calling him up. Now people are saying he shouldn’t be called up at all.
I don’t know if I agree. Luka Sučić has a lot of good qualities much like Marco Pašalić. He has a lot of dynamism in the final third. I disagree, I think it is the right call by Dalic personally.
Look I have disagreed with Vlašić being in the squad in previous years. But Vlašić has come a long way and he really contributed to our campaign.
So I would like to see what this team can do.
Yeah I agree @mate. We all have differing opinions and perspectives, but when we are wrong about something we forget we ever said it. Only one man has the actual job of getting it right. He has done well so far. In the menu we trust.
