It was a super slow week for the Croatians coming back to club duty after spending a week in Orlando to play Colombia and Brazil. Ante Budimir scored his 15th La Liga goal of the season Sunday from the penalty spot in a 2-2 draw vs. Alaves. Budimir’s 80′ goal should have been the winner but Alaves were awarded their own penalty in injury time to chop the points. Budimir is currently tied in 3rd place for most goals in Spain this season.

Ivan Perišić assisted in PSV’s 4-3 win over Utrecht Saturday from a throw-in in his own half! Perišić rocketed a throw-in down the sideline and teammate Saibari did the rest. I don’t remember ever seeing an assist like this before, especially with the throw-in occurring from your own defensive half. Perišić now has 5G/10A in 26 Eredivisie matches this season. With a the win and a Feyenoord draw, PSV Eindhoven have been crowned 2026 Dutch champions.
Luka Vušković played 90 minutes and received a 7.1 SofaScore rating in Hamburg’s 1-1 draw vs. Augsburg Saturday.
Luka Modrić and AC Milan face Napoli Monday night 2:45PM (ET)

@truth
Did ur pimply analyst execute the bearish trade on WTI crude as Anonymous instructed Friday?
Mr. T just posted about a 2-week ceasefire
WTI back down to $94 or 17% down on the tweet 😊
You’re welcome
Anonymous aka the GOAT
P.s. don’t forget about 4) 😉
I guess it would be nice to have a Croatian advancing in the UCL, so I’ll be rooting for Bayern. Supported Madrid while Luka was there but don’t care much for them anymore
It’s too close to the World Cup.
I’d prefer these guys just close out the season with their respective clubs (to stay in game shape) and forget about the extra games and tournaments.
See 6:38 of the below re: Luka & Mario

Modric dribbling vs Napoli

Budimir against Brazil was a mess. It wasn’t just all him but when he did get a touch he looked rushed and had balls bouncing off his feet . Love to see him play his role as our goal scorer but I see him coming off the bench . Who starts in that position- no idea. Musa is just as bad or good , depends on how you look at it.
Musa another game, another non PK goal.
I am glad he is doing well but is the MLS a real measuring stick? Budimir is third in the La Liga in scoring. He merits to start especially if someone can get some crosses to him. Musa at this point should be a sub in the 60th minute until he can prove he has surpassed Budimir.
Washed geriatric ex Igor’s team Son got 4 assists in one half vs Marco at the weekend lol
But Musa and Marco get called as no better options
Pink Pandur
0-0 vs. Coventry (#1 team)
Couple of relatively easy saves for Pandur
Distribution (based on stats) much better
5 games left – 5 points buffer for PO (in reality 4 points given teams at 6 & 7 have better GD)
Croatian and man city doctors have ruled gvardiol out for the rest of the season and World Cup after a set back in his recovery where they are showing the bone not healing as expected and josko feeling pain in it
PSV won the Dutch league today with Feyenoors failing to win their match
PSV were actually on pace to break their best ever record in a season.
But they just lost 3 of their last 7 league games, so they ruined it.
Still, they’re 20 points ahead of the second place team.
Sretan i blagoslovljen Uskrs!
Regarding kovacic not good that he didn’t get any minutes considering match was wrapped up so early, I believe that’s three matches in bench with no appearances.
Next two weeks man city play Chelsea and arsenal if they get two wins that would be terrible for our boys there. As then they would be right in it till the end of season, 9 points back at moment but they have a game in hand so realistically they could be in two weeks only 1 game back of arsenal. Fingers crossed macity season is over in two weeks.
Happy Easter
Jaga bench 12pm vs PAOK
A happy Easter to you. Thank you for all your unorthodox verbose comments on all the Croatian soccer players world wide. Interesting opinions but enjoyable to read.
Happy Easter now have a sip on some courvassier man
Anonymous I think you’re from Ontario Canada, let me take you for a coffee and seriously talk about football.
I will meet you anywhere, don’t be scared and let’s have a serious Croatian conversation about love for football.
I hate how trash talk on the internet, it’s so cowardly and not the spirit of a true Croat, diaspora or homegrown
My real name is Martin Bukovcan, my number is 905-616-9185.
I AM the religious nut that loves football. You can figure out who I am all these years preaching the word of God.
I don’t care that my Slavic brothers are pissed off with my antics because God is greater than your sinful feelings.
Challenged made. Let’s chat. We can talk about football and God.
If your scared and don’t wish to talk, I understand but the holy football challenge is made.

I really hope Ivanovic gets more playing time and be called up for the World cup.
His striker profile is super different from musa mata budi. I hope he leaves for a smaller club in the summer and gets more playtime.
Another thing : seems like despite marco and muss playing in the usa, the fact that they have so much play time compensates somewhere else (probably confidence and just real match muscle memory etc etc)
i’m sure that if ivanovic had a lot of play time somewhere he’d be scoring a lot more goals (ofc it’s logical but i mean significantly more) It’s really a shame that he didn’t remain in belgium a little longer!
Otherwise despite never having been a fan of beljo we can’t ignore that he’s been in good form lately. What do you think could make dalic change his mind? Maybe if bigger clubs start showing significant interest in him by the world cup
When you have a special talent they have to play, no matter the age or experience. Stojkovic goal today is RIDICULOUS. Get Luka to talk to him about not losing his head. Take him to the World Cup. He is a difference maker. And it’s not just his goals and assists. He has special awareness of space, he uses it naturally to create danger. Some players, even some of our better players, survive in space rather than using it to create danger. These are the type of players that opposition have to worry about big time. Vidovic also looks great, finally showing his ability, but he is not ready for big football yet. He still lacks a bit of responsibility and physicality in his play. He wouldn’t be able to do what he does for dinamo in a top league or World Cup. If he keeps developing we could see him in a couple of years. Stojkovic is ready. Sometimes it just clicks for a player and they are there. If he scores another 5/6 goals and gets 7/8 more assists he will have to go to the World Cup…with apologies to majer or vlasic or whoever has to miss out. I mean, compare stojkovic to mario pasalic! Imagine having a guy in our midfield who is spraying the ball around the pitch with absolute ease and spanking shots into the top corner from 30 yards.
All of Stojković’s goals are nuts.
Hopefully he continues to score, gets called up, and does something in the Belgium friendly.
He would be a killer off the bench.
He should’ve been playing all season at Dinamo.
Surely it’s too late in this campaign for stojkovic to be really considered??
Ya, dalic basically said the team is the team when talking about beljo- injuries happen but stojkovic would need about 7 in front of him
Probably too late for both Stojkovic and Jagusic.
It’s a shame really.
We really could use their speed and youth (along with an in-form Ivanovic).
Luka Vusković’s contributions vs Augsburg:
• 84% Pass Accuracy
• 59 Passes Completed
• 11 Passes Into Final Third
• 5/11 Long Balls
• 13 Defensive Contributions
• 8 Clearances
• 9 Ball Recoveries
• 6/8 Aerial Duels Won
• 2/2 Tackles Won
Plus he almost had a goal.
There is no doubting this kids talent. I hope that we get to see him side by side with Gvardiol at the world cup.
Whoever said that Vusković doesn’t have what it takes, guess again. You can’t deny that’s kind of stats and it’s not the first time, he is consistent.
“He’s too tall”
Then truth will say it’s cause he stopped growing luckily
Matanovic
Embarrassing
Came on 78′ winning 2-0
Bayern scored three goals while he was on
All three are his fault due to lack of work rate/awareness
First two he didn’t come out quick enough to block the shots out of the box (and he didn’t get in front of them to block them)
Third he half assed strolling around instead of closing down the man – who passed it into the box and was crossed for the Karl winning goal
Unacceptable
Has anybody watching Dinamo closely, and how does Gabriel Vidovic look, just thru the numbers looks like he’s finally starting to blossom these last couple months- he was an immense prospect a couple years ago with Bayern
Watch 59:35-59:42
Vuskovic game-reading/anticipation/agility/pro-active defending to break-up a counter-attack which led to tying goal
Absolutely filth from Luka, absolute filth
He’s the best CB Croatia has ever had – he’s ridiculous
He’s starting to be too good for Barca or Madrid
They are going to have to create a new super-team just for him
Just give him ownership of Hajduk Split.
Rename the team to Luka & the Vuškovićs.
Just have him perform and sign autographs after the game for tourists.
Wow. You would think Luka Vuskovic is the 2nd coming of Pele. I hope he does succeed and prospers especially for the national team. But let his game keep proving who he is and the rest will take care of itself. It would be awesome if he is who you make him to be. But I would like to see him on a really good team to see how he would handle the higher expectations.
Nah. He would be the best player on any team.
Just accept it already.
I will be a doubting Thomas and wait until he actually does something for the national team and for an elite team. I hope he does succeed but I will trust Coach Dalic’s judgment how to handle such a young player.
So.. filth is good ?
Yup 😊

I think it’s new age jargon! I haven’t hear it before, I had to reread his comments for a second to figure out if it was a positive or negative comment.
I think I am just too old to get it lol!
Stojkovic making a push for the World Cup. A goal and 2 assists today. That gives him 10 goals and 10 assists on the season while starting about half the games. Selling Ljubicic has opened the door for Stojkovic and boy as he taken advantage of his chance.
He appears to be a player who can make a positive impact offensively, but there are concerns about his mentality when he is provoked. His red card against Genk will be highlighted by every opposition coach and playing him will risky.
Yes Luka Stojkovic has some Rebic in him but his quality is there. He is one of the few mids we have who has pace and lungs to run a lot.
He actually got a goal and THREE assists today 😃
No Matanovic in the lineup against Bayern?
In any case, just for fun, here are my opinion best lineups per formation. Assuming everyone is fit and in good form:
4231:
Liva;
Stanisic, vuskovic, sutalo,, gvardiol;
Modric, sucic;
Marco P, Kramaric, perisic
Budimir
(Many very good options off bench, baturina first choice sub for any of the attacking 3)
433:
Liva;
Stanisic, sutalo, gvardiol, perisic;
Modric, kovacic, sucic;
Ivanovic, Musa, baturina.
(In a 433 formation you need speed and penetration in the wide areas otherwise it ends up being a 451 and defensive. In order to facilitate the wide players being more attacking you need a forward who is happy to drop deeper to receive the ball to feet and turn. Not budimir strength)
3421:
Liva,
Sutalo , vuskovic, stanisic;
Marco P, modric, sucic, gvardiol;
Baturina, majer;
Matanovic
(Vušković will do better with more dynamic outside centre backs. Gvardiol is able to do a lot going forward he can score goals. Let him attack as well as defend. The two number 10’s need to have proper creativity, there is no point playing two number 10’s if they can’t dribble or assist or shoot. Baturina and majer have the most technical ability in that regard, and I think stojkovic should be on the roster or the same reason. Matanovic gets the nod upfront as he is something between budimir and musa.)
That’s it.
Ajmo decki
No Stojković?
Tactical observations. 3421 is a system designed for transition. The good news: Colombia and Brazil are both lightening quick and effective in transition. We played both at their own game and did ok. This is good for our overall development but transitional, counter and counter pressing football requires speed and 1 vs 1 ability. This is an area in which we have always and probably always will lag behind other top teams. We don’t have players like vini jr or Luis diaz. Against Brazil we were able to go back to front effectively but then we slow down and end up crossing the ball for a half chance maybe as we don’t have dribblers to attack the box with the ball. 4231 is slower but it allows more combination play with the fullbacks overlapping and the false nine picking up pockets or running behind the striker. This is more suited to our natural style of play. If we do play 3421 then definitely Marco p needs to start on the right hand side as he is a dynamic player. Gvardiol, vuskovic and stanisic is a perfect back 3 but the perisic on the left has too much work defensively and he becomes a net weakness in our lineup rather than positive. I could be wrong and I trust dalic to figure things out, but I think playing a back 3 would be a mistake at the World Cup. Stick to what we are good at. Play 4231 or even 433, slow the game down and control possession to take away the influence of all the fast direct players we will have to face. If the game is open/transitional we will lose against top teams that like it that way. Logical
