Mario Pašalić was Croatia’s ‘Player of the Week’ with two goals on Friday in Atalanta’s 3-1 victory over Spezia. Pašalić has been quiet since returning from injury a few months ago as Atalanta currently sit 4th place in Serie A as they chase another Champions League berth. Atalanta are the Italian sweethearts and have been flying under the radar for nearly two seasons. Pašalić is still trying to crack the Croatian starting XI at midfield but he would have to average the Spezia performance the rest of the season in order to do so.
Pašalić With The Brace
Josip Brekalo awoke from a long slumber on Saturday in a 5-0 Wolfsburg win over last-place Schalke. Both Brekalo and Marin Pongračić got the start for Wolfsburg as they have been riding the bench in 2021. In the 64′, Brekalo took a short pass entering the box and slotted home inside the far post to make it 4-0. Wolfsburg are in prime position to book a Champions League ticket for next season as they currently sit 3rd place in the Bundesliga with only nine matches remaining. 5th place Borussia Dortmund sit six points behind Wolfsburg.

Does anything happen without Luka at Real Madrid? With Elche up 1-0 against Real Madrid on Saturday and Los Blancos’ La Liga title hopes on the line, Modrić came off the bench to add a much needed offensive boost. In the 73rd minute, Modrić lofted up a perfect cross to Benzema in the box, who headed home for the equalizer. Benzema would later rip a shot in injury time to secure all three points in a 2-1 Real Madrid victory. With the win, Real Madrid now only trail Atletico by six points with nine matches remaining as Atletico drew on the weekend. Can they catch them?
Modrić 7.5/10: “Modrić entered the game with Real chasing and immediately sparked some creativity into the game. He created the chance for Benzema’s first goal and helped Real Madrid comeback to win the game.”
Modrić Assist To Benzema
Ante Rebić was brought on after 60 minutes in the second half, in AC Milan’s 1-0 loss to Napoli on Sunday, with manager Stefano Pioli looking for a reaction in attack. He got a reaction alright, but not the one he was hoping for as Rebić was sent off in injury time. In the final minutes of the game, after referee Fabrizio Pasqua gave a foul against Rebić, as the latter couldn’t hold his emotions back and said something to the referee. The result, a straight red card and even more trouble for Milan. As pointed out by MilanLive, since it was a straight red, Rebić could be handed a two-game ban. A lot will depend on the referee’s report on the incident and what the winger said, as it could also be more than two games. With the loss, AC Milan now trail Inter by nine points with their Scudetto dream nearly dead.
What Did Rebić Say To The Ref?
Borna Sosa played all 90 minutes in Stuttgart’s 2-0 win over Hoffenheim. Andrej Kramarić played the full match as well but couldn’t find the scoresheet. Mateo Kovačić rode the bench in preparation for Chelsea’s Champions League match vs. Atletico this week. Chelsea drew Leeds 0-0. Both Ivan Perišić and Marcelo Brozović got the start for Inter Milan in a 2-1 win over Torino. Inter are on their way to dethrone Juventus as Italian champions.

One more year!
Feel bad for Rebić kept getting called for non existent fouls then must have said something and got a straight red.
Pasalic the German, I like him.
Stupid move by Rebić …they had about 3 minutes left to play, and could gave still equalized. Inter could run away with the title now.
I didn’t know you can get a straight red for saying something to the ref
Rebic just got a straight red for, it appears, something he said to the ref.
I loved how Stipe paid back that
Slob DC but poking him back
And taking his eye out. DC is

Also, meant to mention this as a historical thing, how awesome is Mirko:

Modric’s entrance turned Real from night to day today. Was incredible to watch. Loose pass to start, then magic.
Italiani su pederi
Pasalic scores with both feet and almost with his head two! …and the Serie A channel still gives Muriel the credit for the win… 🙁
I’ll take all the depth we can get.
Pašalić
Kovačić
Brekalo
They all have quality minutes in them.
Real Modrić once again.
I am embarrassed for some of these other “galacticos.”
I’d NEVER trust that guy in a CM or DM role!
He plays so much better for Atalanta than for the Reprezentacija.
.
I guess he can only playing in an offensive mid role and nothing else.
I like Pasalics composure in front of goal
Very impressive for a midfielder but hey he is a dalmatinac after all hey hey hey
Pasalic is a great option off the bench for the CAM role. Has great positioning and good finishing ability.
Pasalic does have a nose for the goal that’s no doubt
Atalanta can be a real pleasure to watch, and Pasalic fits into their system really well. They don’t rely on a “superstar” player to score most of their goals, it really is a team effort.
Whether you like Pasalić or not, the guy is an asset when a team needs to score
Yep, not Pasalic’s biggest fan either but very happy for his 2 goals. Nice goal by Brekalo as well, hopefully this gives him confidence and regain his form.
.
Roko Simic, 17 year old scored today against Istra, but his teammate was off side unfortunately… nice goal though.
It’s like a broken record, but as soon as Modrić enters the game, bam, what an impact.
.
Pasalic with a 2 goals yesterday. Not his biggest fan, but it’s nice to have him rounding into form after injury to give us options.
Breks scored break out the champagne 🍾
Brekalo and pongrancic starting.I’ll be damned!
