Joško Gvardiol – at the age of 20 – has won his first trophy outside of Croatia. The up and coming defender came off the bench for Leipzig in the 113th minute of extra time Saturday versus Freiburg. Leipzig would take the DFB Pokal title (German Cup) in a penalty kick shootout with this possibly being the last game for Gvardiol in Germany. Reports swirling around Europe have stated that Gvardiol’s father met with Chelsea representatives this week and he could be making a move to the Premiership.
Ivan Perišić, Marcelo Brozović and Inter Milan fell short of the Serie A title on Sunday as rivals AC Milan were victorious to take home the scudetto. Although Inter lost by three points in their Serie A title defense, they defeated Sampdoria 3-0 on the final match day of the season with Perišić scoring the game winner from inside the box on a strong left-footed shot. It may be Perišić’s last game in Milan as he is now out of contract with the club. Both Chelsea and Tottenham are looking to grab Perišić on a free transfer this summer for their Champions League campaigns next season.
Lovro Majer and Rennes drew Lille 2-2 on Saturday which means they will miss out on Champions League football next season and will play in Europa League instead. That of course is if Majer is not sold by Rennes after a fantastic inaugural season in France.
Well that hurts. Looks like on further tests perisic strained calf is actually a torn Achilles which will make his return for the World Cup almost impossible. It’s a shame after a great season and despite all of Croatia’s upcoming talent, there is very little at the wing. Brekalo is too faint, orsic not top level enough to fill the spot so dalic will have to get creative
Where you seeing that?
Imposter comment 🙂
The real Maminjo has the three-star wreath next to it 😉
Hahahaha too funny. I see you take those 3 stars with pride. 🙂
Same troll that reports luka is Injured at every camp before a tourney
Let Perisic rest
As others said… plenty of depth and good to find the right fits
Bummer on grbic
Maybe he gets more Time in Spain or I guess will be loaned or sold?
Igor Matanovic switch from Germany to hrvatska is official – another nice striker prospect for our youth system
Strained calf… right time of the year to get it

Perisic Better be ok for the World Cup!!
The last thing we need is to lose one of our solid players. We already have issues with our scoring and Kramaric is a HUGE question mark leaning toward useless….
Hopefully some of our new prospects can step up and make it happen. Regardless of anything Perisic being injured or not 100% for the World Cup is a huge loss.
World Cup is six months away and the season is over.
He’ll have plenty of time to recover, and won’t be rushed by his club team. He’ll be fine.
A strained calf muscle is generally not a major concern. He’ll recover fully by November. This way, he just is saved the extra strain of Nations League matches. Left wing is probably our deepest position, with Brekalo and Kramarić both playing there a lot with their clubs this season, on top of Orsić being a top-quality player at that position himself. Consider on top of that the attacking power we get from the left backs—Sosa and Barisić are both threats going forward—and the Perisić injury won’t have much effect except to put our depth to good use and give other players chances to show their worth. It’s a good time for the team to learn how to stop using Perisić as a crutch.
I saw dominik kotarski made the hnl team of the year
Wonder why he is not really in the mix
I think all of our keepers are in the same ball park.
Some may have a good stretch here or there, but for the most part, they are average at best. Maybe Kotarski gets a callup if things are still looking weak in June.
I do think Livakovic is in a bad place now, and needs to be benched.
Gotta really test out the others in June.
Also…Lille decided not to trigger the buy option inserted in Ivo Grbić’s loan contract from Atletico Madrid and will now return to the Spanish side.
Some reports after the match on Sunday are suggesting a calf injury, while others are saying it is a knee injury. Either way, it is highly unlikely that he will play in the upcoming NL matches. We can only prey and hope that it is not a serious knee injury like the ACL which would rule him out for a year.
So many times i wish i wasn’t right all the time. On the First post of this chain over the weekend i warned of perisics injury risk and next thing you know he’s carried off in a stretcher
Those who boast about themselves do it due to the fact nobody boasts for them baby truth
How bad is this injury??:(
Hopefully just pre cautionary
Maybe it is good that the World Cup is later after all??
Perišic is out for the upcoming nations league games. Dalić had to call up someone on the backup list…probably Ivanušec.
That’s terrible is Perisic injured??
Without having to read into it, I would imagine he (and his agent) don’t want to play in unnecessary Nations League games while available on a free transfer. He’s about to sign the last contract of his career and getting hurt in NL would destroy all of that.
I get what your saying, but he was carried off on a stretcher last inter game, so I’m a bit worried. Hopefully they’re just being extra carfull, to allow him to fully recover before his big move. 🙏
The nations league means a lot of matches in a short time in June. It’s good that we have so much depth. I think every player called up will see the field, except maybe a goalkeeper
Perišić with a nice goal for possibly his final game at Inter. Soon after, he limped off the field in pain…hopefully it’s nothing serious. Looks like Milan will win the league.
Is Boško Šutalo and Josip Šutalo brothers ?
No
Maldini wants to sign Brekalo to play RW at Milan next season
Why was Gvardiol on the bench?
Injured or out of form?
Neither… his pops is in England talking to Chelsea, they couldn’t risk an injury before the big move to London …or maybe it’s just another BS transfer saga like most of them!
We’ve all said it before and we’ll say it again- Livakovic is garbage – Livaja goal he seemed frozen like a deer in the headlights and didn’t even react. I think many of us are judging him now on anything cause he’s just that bad lol
Tough question here as to whether it’s better for Croatia to have the world cup now in June or in 6 months. Lets go to the table and see if the december world cup is better or worse for the key guys
big negatives:
modric: down and high injury risk
perisic : down and high injury risk
Big positives:
Defensive line time to mature and gel (gvardiol, pongracic, sosa, caleta car, stansic)
Majer
goalie: some more time to find an answer and build comfort
mild positives:
vrsaljko : some more time to heal and get back in rythm
vlasic: time to recover
brekalo: continued development
striker crew: some more time for musa, budimir to possibly show enough to play some role.. still tough
Neutral:
Brozovic and Kovacic : although a shame given their high level of play
kramaric
As one could see, arguably there are a lot more positives. The problem is the two negatives happen to have also been our most impactful players for the last 10 years and at the last major tournament
AC Milan has to lose for Inter to have a chance. In Serie A, the first tie breaker is head to head.
Becar, You are absolutely right. It’s always annoyed me how leagues keep +/- in their table but it’s not the first tiebreaker. Good call. Thank you.
