Roko Šimić made his FC Zurich debut on Saturday (currently on loan from RB Salzburg), coming off the bench in the 79th minute. He couldn’t have asked for a better start in the Swiss Super League as he scored twice (89′, 93′) to force a 2-2 draw against Luzern. His first goal was a wonderful Euro-volley into the top-right corner of the net from 20 yards out. All eyes on Šimić this season in Switzerland! He already has two goals to his name, can we ask for 10 total from now until the end of the season?
Croatia right-back Josip Juranović has sealed his move from Celtic to Bundesliga club Union Berlin this weekend. “The initial fee is understood to be £7.5m plus add-ons, with the Croatian finalising his switch to the Bundesliga side on Sunday”, SkySports reports. Juranović was linked with a move to Chelsea, but landing at Union Berlin, who are currently 3rd Place in the Bundesliga title race and five points behind leaders Bayern Munich, should be considered the right landing spot for the 27 year-old.
Joško Gvardiol played 90 minute at center-back for RB Leipzig in a 1-1 draw against Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich Friday night
Mateo Kovačić not listed on Chelsea’s squad Saturday in a 0-0 draw vs. Liverpool. Is Kova forcing a January transfer from the sinking ship Chelsea is?
Luka Modrić came off the bench in the 73rd minute Sunday in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao. He received a default grade of 6/10 for his efforts as he “Helped provide more control in midfield to end the game.”

Brekalo to Dinamo rumours. This is exactly the move he needs if he wants to get his career back on track.
Why did the Fiorentina move fall through?
Who are the biggest 2-3 can’t miss prospects in the hnl?
Is there any other diaspora kids that look like potential that we haven’t picked up that we are trying to?
I thought I saw something that aussies had like 4-5 Croats on their under 17 or something
You never know….
Bad timing for this question since most of our high end young prospects ended up leaving the HNL very early.
Marin Ljubičić, Roko Šimić and Dion Beljo are all 20 years old and would normally be in the HNL but left early. Gvardiol is also still only 20 years old and he’s already a star. Even guys like Zvonarek and Biuk are already gone.
I wouldn’t say that there are any “can’t miss” prospects in the HNL right now mainly because of this.
Josip Šutalo is probably the closest based off of what we saw him do for us on the Senior team already. Baturina and maybe Kačavenda (if he comes back 100 percent from that knee injury) are big prospects but it’s too early to gauge prospects under 19 years of age.
You’re right. But, bigger countries have that time to evaluate more carefully. Yet, we are in a hurry to produce this and produce that.
Vekic won btw
That’s why I asked it now.
Seems like we had a decent exodus of talent… wondering what’s left
I really like what I saw in kacavenda. Bummer about his knee but he has youth on his side
Funny how Colina can’t score in HNL, but a few seconds into his Bundesliga debut he scores a goal
Colina scored lol
Our old friend Domagoj Vida scored for his side today as well.
Is there any potential in this kid?
Good to see two young Croats playing together tho
He was supposedly a big talent when he was a teenager and made one of those UEFA top-50 talent lists.
He stupidly went to Monaco’s youth setup after (not sure why Hajduk couldn’t retain him) but came back after a year on the bench.
Who knows. Maybe he’s a late bloomer, but nice to have the added depth at LB.
Speaking of Lb depth
What has happened with bradaric?
He looked for a while to have some goods
He still plays in Serie A. Career went sideways but he’s still young and can still take steps forward.
Yes, I followed Colina since he was 16 or 17 as the next Jarni that we needed.
Then he sorta fell off the radar for a few years. I just realized he’ll be 23 this year.
I hope he progresses well as Sosa is unpredictable imo
Imo time for youth movement little by little Dalic did nice job at world cup but time for stikers to develop hopefully make leap to A team im proud for us i think euro 2024 we will be strong also.
Simic, Beljo, Ljubicic (Marin), Musa I am excited to see where it goes if they mature well and get a chance.
He’d better start calling up some of these guys up in March.
Hate to see him wait until after the summer…THEN wait to see how they’re performing at club level when the new season begins…THEN decide who to call up.
This is how Musa got screwed last time.
Beljo assist just now for Augsburg…1-1 at Dortmund.
stole the ball from a defender, looks like he has crisp passing
From what I have read so far:
Vidovic has 1 goal and no assists so far at Vitesse.
Majer I think total contribution 3 so far, but he had a hell of season last season including his work rate and chances created goals scored and assists. Slight downturn this season.
Ljubicic 9 goals and I think no assists.
Sucic 4 assists. Last season was 8 or 9 goals I think.
Beljo had 8 goals in HNL. Starting with Augsburg now.
Orsic 8 goals at HNL and hopefully gets some playing time in the Premier League.
I am not sure about some the work rate stats for some of these players but it would be good to see how those particular stats develop with some of the players listed and how it progresses mid-way through this half of the season.
I am curious to see the development of Majer, Orsic hopefully as he starts to get minutes, Sucic, Roko Simic, Ljubicic, Vidovic, Beljo, Musa among others. I think we have to keep tabs on there players to see how they develop.
Hopefully Dalic puts more stock in the youth this time around.
I hope somehow Perišić and luka can bring out one more wonder tourney for euro
They are both hungover
It’s so difficult to go deep in a big tourney like that and recover so quick
They had trouble 4 years ago and it was Summer
I just hope perisic move to epl doesn’t burn him out for little reward
Really he needed to make this move like 4 years ago
English media are crucifying perisic over his performance yesterday.
He did suck honestly
Perišić deserves to be hammered by the media. He was awful. Mahrez ate him alive for 3 and he missed a sitter. Not good.
But what is good is music to my ears is Simic scoring for Zurich. We need him to develop as quickly as possible because we fried up top. Is Dario’s boy the answer? God I hope so.
If he’s got his dad’s work ethic, then he should be good.
He absolutely killed it at Liefering last season, and he continued his hot scoring with our U21s (as an 18 year old) and scored well for RB Salzburg’s U19 team.
Being able to score on multiple teams is a good sign.
He didn’t get much chance at the senior Salzburg squad, and now this happens at Zurich.
If this continues, then it’s a great sign.
Just to note, Zurich is last in the Swiss league and they score very little. If he comes in and actually puts up goals for the worst scoring team in the league (and gets them out of relegation) the guy will look like a star, especially if he becomes a league leader after coming in halfway through the season.
The good thing about a start like this is the runway he will get! They need goals, they need talent and they need points, he’s proven to them very quickly that he is a contributor to all 3 of those things!
Indeed
and someone here has called him a world-class player
way beyond delusional that needs psychological attention!
As far as playing for Croatia in the previous tournaments Euro and 2018, he was easily our second best player next to Modric that’s not delusional at all. He had 5 goals in total at world cup 2018 and could have easily scored 3 more if luck was on his side, putting him contention for the golden boot. Was also the only person to score a real goal against France in 2018. So who is really delusional here???
Yeah he is having a bad season but that can’t discount everything he has previously done. Not to mention the start of his first season with Tottenham he was key in many of the goals scored and was a constant threat. So yeah a couple of games where he and Modric are playing badly here are apparently reasons for people to write them off now??!! Incredibly stupid if you ask me.
Chicken Littles on this site. People seem to forget that when a player has what appears to be bad game, it’s almost always cuz most have his teammates were poor too. Not going to find many great individual performances in a game where the team was shit.
If anyone would know anything about truly needing psychological attention…..🤔
Last game they put Kova on for a minute and actually win. This time he’s not even in the squad. I guess Chelsea sees him for what he is and are saying we made a big mistake. 😆
I have a hard to time with Kovacic, because he shows promise but often times it is difficult to see him as player because he is not always consistent. That is my main qualm with the guy, if he was consistent for club and Croatia then I would be onboard but he isn’t always which is the problem.
I like the Juranovic transfer. Hopefully he gets time and keeps improving.
As for the Orsic transfer, it’s not looking good…it’s where our middling talent goes to die. It’s important that he gets time for our upcoming qualifiers.
Roko I think will be our striker of the future. He has the right skill set to be the goods. Great bloodlines sure does help.
It’s probably the best possible move for him. Ze Germans will appreciate his work rate.
I never believed the EPL talk of him going to Chelsea, Spurs or Leicester.
But it would’ve been bad for him there.
Watch Beljo score a hat trick tomorrow against Dortmund. 😉
Dalić would still troll us and call up Budimir instead haha.
Lol probably
He did play That 60 mins or so in the last two tourneys combined
Vital to the operation
Roko simic came in as a late sub and scored a brace!!
What a debut in Zurich
Sign him up!
The weekend updates have become kind of boring. We pretty much know who our players are now. Biggest story to watch will be a fall in form from modric and perisic
On the young guy radar i guess we’re just wondering about the following
Sucic
Majer
Not sure there is much rise. Maybe if brekalo and vlasic can pick up form
Should We bet if a Croat scores outside the box again week to week??;)
Orsic should look for a loan from Southhampton
Yea, He got 10 minutes today, on the right wing. Last game he didn’t play and in the cup against MC he played in attack for a few minutes. Does the coach even know what Orsic’s strengths are? I can’t understand how they could bring him if they are going to play him out of position. Makes no sense. The move is looking like a mistake.
Well maybe if he somehow catches on at rw it could translate to the repka?
Hopefully he gets some time or should have stayed fit and comfortable at dinamo
Orsic should go back to Zagreb. He’s not good enough for Southampton. I said that when he went there.
Come on guys. Let’s give the guy more than 6 minutes of league play before we judge him, lol.
But yea, Southampton is dead last and not sure if he can change their fortunes. If Southampton aren’t even capable of holding any possession over a mid-table team like Aston Villa, I’m not sure what they expect Orsic to do in terms of creating scoring chances. He’ll be defending more than doing anything else.
Dinamo may be the biggest winners if Southampton gets relegated, and Orsic just ends up back at Dinamo in the summer for a small fee (or loan deal) after Dinamo just collected 6-7 million Euro for him.
He’s only been on the team for a few weeks lmao
This is a struggling team, the coach will be forced to switch things up. He’ll get his chance
I disagree with the sentiments about Orsic. If I recall correctly, Southampton won 2 of their last 3 games before today, including beating Mancity in the Cup. Difficult to put in a new player and disrupt a squad during a stretch of good form. I predict after today’s loss, Orsic gets significant minutes next game.
Yeah to North America maybe.
Dion Drena Beljo getting the start tomorrow vs Borussia.
Mamic went off on the media complaining about those who are now running Dinamo’s academies, and said that they messed up by not bringing Beljo to Dinamo.
I agree
Couldn’t hurt to bring him in at dinamo for a 1-2 years to help them and his career
The Germans didn’t pay much for him I believe. For dinamo it was an easy hold and flip to make some money and help say here is another potential star we cultivated
Dinamo needs to do a thing with all of hnl. Work out a deal where any upper echelon guy comes to them for a year before selling to Europe and they work out money deal with the team
Dinamo transfer vs any other hnl team(yes I’m looking at you hajduk) is worth at minimum 10 percent more
Possible move for Majer?? Spurs and Man United.
https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.hitc.com/en-gb/2023/01/20/tottenham-transfer-news-manchester-united-and-spurs-want-lovro-majer/%3famp
I think majer should just ride this season out at develop in France
Ya his stock his high but with just keeping on pace with what he’s doing it will rise more
Maybe the World Cup tho jacked it up some and it’s a great time for the French to capitalize
Whatever happens, a very good flip for them
Livakovic looks to be going to Nottingham Forrest.
https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.nottinghampost.com/sport/football/transfer-news/nottingham-forest-pole-position-complete-8051340.amp
I wonder who Dinamo would replace him with.
Do they just promote Nevistić, or do they try to grab Labrović from Rijeka (since he seems to be our top HNL goalkeeper prospect).
That’s what I was thinking of a couple days ago
Do they have anyone?
What’s going on with ivusic? Maybe they can get him?
From the comments of their fans I guess there is some unknowns on their current keeper. He belongs to Man U and it’s not certain if he will go back or not
We need to see liva at a place where he would be the starter
It will definitely be sink or swim in England for him
Maybe he can get that much better
Toughen him up some with regular stronger competition
May as well go for it now
Let’s just hope doesn’t turn out like kalinic in England
Juranovic to Union Berlin.
https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.bbc.com/sport/football/64359096.amp
Good move for him.
Didn’t realize they were that high on the table.
Very much a good shot at CL next year for him
Can he be the starter there?
Maybe he can do well there and make one more bigger jump before 30
Would be happy for him
You can see he puts the effort in
Even if he stays there for his career, the Bundesliga is a high level league.
Scottish league is very overrated in the UEFA club coefficient rankings, and is probably not much better than the HNL.
Hard to gauge our players who play there and whether it’s any different calling up a successful player from Scotland (like Antonio Colak) over successful players in other leagues (like Marin Ljubicic).
Colak probably does no better than Ljubicic in Austria or some of our other players in HNL. Not sure if he would be even as good as Musa in Portugal.
I’d rather stick with calling up players from the top leagues.
