Ivan Perišić assisted in Spurs’ 2-1 victory over Brighton Saturday, laying off a simple pass to Son, to keep their top-4 Champions League hopes alive. However, Brighton were clearly disallowed a clear penalty opportunity in the match which would have turned turned the game around. Perišić received MOTM honors from FOTMOB (8.3 rating) for his efforts. Perišić “Forced a smart save from Steele. Couldn’t get near Dunk for the Brighton equaliser and off the pace at times, even if some of his crosses were dangerous.”
He now has six Premiership assists (Spurs leader) to go with his lone goal this year.
Oh my! Check out this phenomenal assist by Borna Sosa Sunday in Stuttgart’s 3-2 win over Bochum in a huge relegation battle victory. Sosa was ruled out the past few weeks since suffering a knock in the Wales match. Last time he played a Bundesliga game was March 18th. We know Sosa is capable of these amazing crosses — even though the Bochum goalie should have handled this one — but what made him quiet in Qatar? And who on the Croatian national side can get on the other side of these crosses once Sosa starts supplying them?
Luka Modrić came off the bench in the 72′ as Real Madrid lost 3-2 to Villarreal before their Champions League 1st leg quarterfinal match with Chelsea Wednesday on Wednesday.
Mateo Kovačić and Chelsea lost 1-0 to Wolves. Kova received a 5/10 grade from 90min.com as he “Struggled to keep up with the pace of the game as Wolves’ press caused him plenty of problems.”
Joško Gvardiol played 90 minutes at left back for RB Leipzig in a 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin. The win moves Leipzig back into the top-4 for a CL spot next season.
Josip Juranović played the full 90 minutes as Union Berlin lost 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund Saturday. The loss surely keeps Berlin out of a top-2 spot finish in the Bundesliga with seven matches remaining; trailing 2nd place Dortmund by 5 points now.
Nice goal by andrija balic 3min 7 seconds.
5 goals in 5 games

Good for him, and thanks for sharing. I watched the whole video, and that football looks barely professional, honestly. So many poor finishes, including from Balić, and a really slow pace. It’s clear that he has some skills, but someone playing at that level is far from cracking the national squad.
Just listening to some old podcasts from the Canadian side recorded just before the match this past World Cup. Good for a laugh as all these “experts” predicted Canada would not only beat us but run away with the game. The arrogance was just beyond belief. They don’t understand us or our mentality. You don’t speak to us that way and then wonder why you got thrashed. Pay attention to what happened to England in 2018. Anyway, if Canada was smart they would try and arrange some friendlies with us and learn. But they won’t as long as Turdman is in charge. Even if he’s not in charge I don’t think they would. Dumb fucks. Jebi ih.
As a Canadian who would hear the bullshit
I just waited quietly and let the boys do the talking
Of course beating Brazil was awesome
But the smack down on Canada was just too good
I wish we had a mandzo who would have destroyed them and we would run up the score board
But all is good
All they talked about is World Cup ranking bullshit
Hey assholes we are 7th, where you at?
Maybe if you guys said you would run away on Serbia I could maybe get behind that but wrong country mates;)
Jebi ga, lucky us for having our blood and roots!
There wasn’t a more classless and unlikable team than Canada at this World Cup.
The fans were incredibly arrogant just because they topped America and Mexico in qualifying. Leading up to the tournament, they wrote off Morocco as an easy win, and babbled on aboutt Croatia being just an old and slow team (meanwhile Canada had the oldest backline in the tournament).
The Canadian media was also nauseating and repeated the same nonsense, talking about how the Vida/Lovren backline was too slow and how guys like Rakitic and Modric are old and slow, ha ha. Man, all they had to do was use Wikipedia to get an up-to-date squad. So lazy.
Their FA and players we were awful too. They were scheduling warmup friendlies against Iran and Panama…only to bail on both teams. They ended up canceling the Iran game because Iran is an evil country and Canada should take a stand against playing friendlies against evil countries (yet somehow playing in the same tournament with Iran was okay, ha ha).
Againt Panama it was much worse. They scheduled the friendly, the Panama national team flew in and were ready to play, the stadium was full of fans ready to watch….then the Canadian players refused to walk out onto the field because they decided to make a stand in favor of some policital ‘equal pay’ for women’s soccer thing. The poor Panamians burned their own money having to fly to Canada, and now had to fly back and were not paid for taking part in the friendly. Utterly classless from Canada.
Then, of course, you have their cigan goalkeeper babbling on about being born in Krajina and the villanous Canada news outlets (channeling their pro-Serb position back in the 90s war) out there justifying his comments.
Very well deserved beatdown.
I don’t think the Canadian players lacked class. Their midfielder who plays at Porto-Eustaquio- recently praised Modric and stated Croatian’s midfield offered Canada a lecture on football. Pre turnir Johnathan Osorio another mid stated it was his dream to play vs Modric. I think their coach, the media & some fans are the real morons. Julian De Guzman an ex euro pro is now a pundit and he has always praised the Croatians as a powerful footy nation.
The Canada coach is British and a lot of their media personalities are british. So I think the Brit Coach and Brit media in Canada are definitely classless govno. The coach is 5’3 and clearly has little man syndrome And the cetnik goalie is a loser. But 98 percent of players on their squad don’t lack class. The problem is canada is a lot of the soccer media is controlled by brits. And believe it or not there are lot of smart soccer people in canada. They simply don’t get the limited media roles that have been whored out to brits and or Canadian zene. Herdman and most of their media are hardcore govno and it ruins it because most people in Canada know Hrvatska is a world class footy nation.
I guess you’re right to an extent.
I still think it’s classless of the players to leave Panama hanging like that.
It’s not like the Panama FA and its players make much money, and to have them fly over to Canada on their dime (with the promise of an agreed upon amount for a friendly) only for the Canadian players to act noble and walk off the field for some virtue signaling was pretty ignorant.
Also, Borjan counts as one of the players and there was noone more classless than him, especially with his BS to the media both before and after the game.
Nah, most of the Canadian players are classes garbage too. Don’t forget one of their defenders (Kamal Miller I think) tried to pick a fight with Modric during the game. Who does he think he is? I would have knocked him the fuck out. And at another point in the game Perisic went to help Buchanan get up from the pitch and you can read his lips as he says “fuck off” to Perisic. Real Canadian class. The only ones that were smart and said something nice or nothing at all were Davies, Alistair Johnston, and Eustaquio. The rest I wipe my ass with.
The Scot and Irish commentators in Canada (Stephen Caldwell and Kevin Kilbane) are good analysts and you can see they respect Croatia and were embarassed for Canada by Turdman. DeGuzman and the women commentators suck as analysts. Julian just parrots what the other commentators say. He brings nothing of value to the broadcast except “diversity”. Still it was sweet to see all their ashen faces during the post game analysis. What’s amusing is that some of my friends here were like “you must be torn about who to support during the game.” Not at all I would say. Fuck Canada. I still haven’t forgotten how Canada tried to fuck us during the war (along with Britain and France). Canada needs to remember that we’re their partners in NATO. Not Serbia.
Marko Livaja IS slow, and just look at how he and Kramarić put the game away after the Davies goal. In the end, it was the Canadian defenders who couldn’t keep up. They must have missed the memo that ball movement generates faster play than individual running. Oh, and they forgot about the speed demon that is Mateo Kovačić. 😀
There should be more Croats on the gunners.

Appreciate your thoughts on Frigan, thank you!

Sretan Uskrs everyone!
Sretan I blagoslovljen Uskrs!

Livaja gets some play from Mourinho.

Well if livaja gets anything is points for being a hot head;)
He has some of the tools
But sadly not all of them
Mandzo was our best warrior striker
One who could score
Get under the skin of others but also I feel he would back it up
At the end of the day it was mandzo heart that gave him that little extra on top of his fitness
Seriously nobody is going to mention Luka’s great performance today ?
Luka samanic that is…career high of 23 points after dominating the G league this year … he might finally realize his potential next year with the jazz
Not that anyone on here cares about hoops!
End of season stat stuffing doesn’t count.
He needs to work harder and secure a role for an entire season and put up numbers when games matter.
Popovic criticized him for not working hard enough, and they cut him before he could complete his rookie deal. That says a lot when you’re not even worth a cheap rookie scale contract.
He should have been doing this years ago instead of focusing on which sleeve tattoos he wants to get next.
I do!!! Love hoops!! I’ve been keeping my eye on him!!!
After scoring in the 1-0 win against Sibenik, Matija Frigan has reached 10 goals in 19 HNL games.
Does anyone here rate him? And do you prefer him to move abroad, or to Dinamo in the summer?
I have seen highlights of his goals on HRT and he looks impressive. We’ll see how he goes at EURO in June if he gets a start for our U21. I have seen some comments that Rijeka will sell him if they get any decent offers at the end of the season. He is 20 and is better off staying at Rijeka for another year or so. Going to Dinamo might mean sitting on the bench.
He’s a good finisher, for sure. Not so sure about the other elements of his game, but he finishes well. Didn’t know he was only 20. Maybe he becomes a great striker one day.
Good news that he’s only 20.
I hope they don’t sell him and he can stick around a couple more years in HNL.
We already have a few young hopefuls playing in foreign leagues (Roko, Beljo, Ljubicic). It would be nice to have one develop in our domestic league as you know he would get guaranteed minutes.
Was interesting watching how ramshackle Real looked today when not starting those “geezers” Modric and Kroos.
Real had to rest Modric and Kroos for UCL with LaLiga already conceded. The midfield was not great, but I think the larger issue was subbing their only clinical striker too early, and pairing Alaba and Rudiger at CB while Chukwueze was eating Nacho’s lunch from the first whistle. The sooner they get Gvardiol playing next to Militao and Alaba to LB the better. That’s presumably what they wanted to achieve with Rudiger, but…
Ya I was concerned stanisic would lose his spot
I’m certain many are interested in him
Heck Madrid is looking for a RB I see on their forums
They would do well by getting gvardi and stanisic on their back line:)
Stanisic has that composure and skill set which will grow
He’s just not “sexy” like a cancelo.
I don’t know maybe I’m a homer but I take stanisic all day at 12 mill vs cancelo at 70
Bring him to a mid-table or upper mid-table in Germany or even in England and he could be able to get a good role in a team.
Taken from an ESPN quote on the ESPN website:
“Perisic has been directly involved in 11 FIFA World Cup goals across the last three tournaments — six goals and five assists. Only Lionel Messi is ahead of him with 16 direct goal involvements.” ESPN.
Just thought it was an interesting stat that they posted about Perisic.
Does that include the 10-15 penalties that Messi was gifted?
Does anyone have any info or knowledge of theis Nicola Noro guy on Bologna??
Just wondering if he could be a viable defensive midfielder??
I think he had a decent ceiling from what the wise ones have said here
He was in Russia for a while correct?
Hoping he can maybe find his form and be a potential piece for us
As the wise ones here say, don’t give up on any nogometas till they are like 30
Heck only now kova is becoming dare I say it on here, Near world class
He was a very good prospect at Dinamo until he blew his knee.
Still was decent but lost his explosiveness and had to change his game to he more of a defensive mid.
This is why I’m pissed about Kačavenda and Sučić. Those knee injuries may lower their ceiling now.
Stanisic is condemned under tuchel..cancelo pavard maz all ahead of him in pecking order. He cannot even get any min in german cup
Another friendly reminder — it’s Villarreal not Villareal.
Yes
Pretty sure Ante spelled it right:)
Pretty sure if someone spells it wrong we can still understand the rest in context 🙂
Just trying to help. Villarreal is spelled wrong here often. This isn’t a backyard beer blog, it’s a legit place for Croatian sports fans to get news and shoot the shit. I would think spelling matters at least a little.
It’s right now because it has been corrected. Or, corected ….
No way Jose!!! Lol
Yes I corrected it. Learned something new today. You will receive the “Double-R” moving forward gbvh. You have my word.
Dobro hvala lol.
AJMO!
